Near Ueno Station and Ameyoko”
This hotel close to Ueno Station and Keisei-Ueno Station. From JR Ueno Station I went out through the Hirokoji Exit and crossed the road (zebra crossing) twice, (not over the crossing bridge). Although this hotel looks old but is comfortable. The room is tidied up every day. There's microwave in the 1st floor. Overall I enjoyed my stay in Hotel Yamayuri.
Walking distance to Ueno station, eateries, convenience stores”
Stayed in twin bed room, was comfortable. Room is just about average in size for typical Tokyo hotel room. Only 1 lift serving 3 floors of rooms and it is quite small. About 300m away from Ueno station and walking distance to eateries outside Ueno station (look for Uniqlo near the station, you'll find lots of eating options just there). As for the staff, they are mostly elderly folks, speak a bit of English, so be prepared with some basic Japanese if possible to make your questions and their answers easier to understand. All in all, would consider staying again.
The hotel is less than 200 meters southeast of the Ueno train station and is close to Ueno park and the museums there. The hotel is on a quiet side street. There's a 7-11 convenience store about a block away. The nearest supermarket that I found was about a 20 minute walk. The hotel has a microwave and a toaster oven on the first floor. Rooms have a small fridge and hot water pot. Room size is average. Bathroom is a bit smaller than average. My room just had a view of the neighboring buildings. Staff doesn't speak much English, but they are friendly and are adept at communicating whatever information needs to be conveyed. I think the Ueno area is a nice part of Tokyo to stay in.
Good Budget Hotel”
If you don't want to spend a lot on a hotel then this one is for you. Great price for a hotel located in a very popular area. Lots of food places a short walk away from the hotel. Convenience stores all around the area. 8 min walk from JR Ueno station and subway lines so getting around is very easy. Lots of stores nearby so shopping is easy. Room is small and feels outdated but then again i'm not spending a whole lot of time in it(just to sleep, shower, and store my stuff) so for the price and location its a good choice. Hotel staff is friendly and speaks decent English.
Budget place next to the metro”
Just a few steps away from a lift to the Ueno station in the Tokyo Subway, the location is perfect. Staffs are a group of elderlies, but one of them at least speaks very good English, otherwise they will press you an iPad and let you talk into the translation app. Simple, nice and clean, even though the place is a bit old and their operation system is that you return your keys to the reception after locking the room.
A small budget hotel with superb location”
I really like about the location of this hotel. It is very near Ueno station. So it's very convenient to go anywhere by Ueno JR. The staff was OK and can communicate in English. The bed in single room is relatively hard which make it a bit difficult to sleep though.
The hotel is just located near UENO train station and subway station, so it is very convinience to access to the airport by the airport express nearby, also can go to any place in Tokyo very easily by the subway station nearby. The staffs are very friendly and helpful, they looked after my luggage for over night after I checked out with free of charge. The room is small but it is clean and good enough for stay 1-3 days in the busy Tokyo.
Near Tokyo Metro”
I have booked Japanese Style room separate living room and bedroom, hotel staffs have service mind they try to give me more information about where are attractive, Hotel near Tokyo Metro, Ueno JR Station and near shopping street, but inside the room have some bad smell, bed sheet dirty.
Good Motel if u can speak Japanese”
I read other travellers comment and a bit worry before we check-in. Since I can speak Kindergarden level Japanese. I dont have much problem with the hotel staff communication. Same as other travellers mention before: All hotel staffs are grandma and grandpa..sorry no English speaking. We managed to leave our bags in the lobby after check out. They didn't border us at all, only the first morning 10am asked us whether we need housekeeping or not. Staffs are nice, room is clean and big size(Twin room 07)compare with other down town hotel,Free Wifi(3000Yen deposit if u need a router),very good location that close to JR station. Only we have to pay extra money for our 9yrs old girl to share room with us which Agoda webs didnt mention clearly when we make a booking. Good to stay if u can speak Japanese or dont need to communicate with the hotel staff :p
Old, comfortable business hotel near Ueno station”
The Hotel was near Ueno station, Shinobazu exit side. The staffs were english-speaker, friendly and helpful. The building was kinda old. and some food smell from outside can come into the room. The room was fully equipped with television, fridge, table and lamp, two hangers and in-room bath and shower. Cleanliness was just OK for me.
Clean room, close to Ueno station, fair price.
Location, friendly staff, value for money ”
Excellent location near Ueno Station, friendly and helpful staff, thank you and for sure I’ll come again!
good location in ueno”
although a little bit old, but room and things are clean as Japanese style. The room space is larger that typical Jap hotel. It is like taking a time machine back to 80s.
Good for japanese room”
It is very nice location from keisei skyliner, ueno jr and ueno metro. Only few minute from station to hotel. Moreover, ameyoko market and other attraction place is very near to hotel. However, the worst thing i ever had is time to access to hotel that allow from 6:00-24:30. Then, we have to manage time for travelling than i ever though. And some staff cannot communicate in english language but still nice to treat us
nice and warm hotel”
This hotel is a bit older than expected, but spacious room in short walking distance from all train station and shopping area. It is nice though.
good location and wifi”
Very nice location, Ueno station and Shinkansen is just a 5 mins walk from the hotel. Room is decent with strong wifi, but the mini fridge is a bit noisy.
Walking distance to Ueno Station. Old building but clean room. Room is big enough to open a suitcase. They close entrance at 12:30. If you need to come back later, better tell them before. They make an arrangement.
Very close to Ueno station.Owner is freindly,we can drop our luggages before checking in.Full option of toiletries.
Near JR Station. Even a bit old but Room is clean. Worth money. Staff is very polite.”
Just one comment from me. It is about blanket. Even the room is western style. Blanket is futon. It is too short for tall people. It is not long enough to cover my feet. So if you are tall or westerner, you may need avoid it in winter. Also the hotel door is closed after midnight until 6:00 AM.
Convenient location, but poor services”
Very close to Ueno station and shopping area. Quite large rooms. Very fast free Wifi connection in the room. However, no hotel staff at all from 10am-4pm. So can't drop baggages, can't get a key to go back to your room during a day. Moody staffs with poor English.
