Not a boutique hotel”
Lots of travelers wrote that this is a “ boutique” hotel. It is not. It’s a huge hotel with very long corridors that is dressed up to look cute and kitschy with some sea-themed decor, but for the prices, the lobby and rooms don’t have anything special to make it seem boutique-like. Aside from the sea-themed bedding and wall art, the room itself was small and not particularly clean or updated. The “partial bay-view” rooms overlook the very ugly and very large parking lot with views into the other rooms of the hotel. Not romantic, artsy, private, or special. Staff is very friendly and location is convenient to everything near Fisherman’s wharf.
Great location. ”
The hotel is clean and the staff were great and the location was excellent
We stayed here for 4 nights; at first we got a really awkward room with window opens to what seemed to be the hotel’s trash deposit area, next to a parking lots. The trash piles were right against our window so we just kept the curtain closed. The room was quite small too, anyway we just decided not to mention (about the trash issue) to the staff since we will be going out a lot anyway. Then the night went by and in the early morning there was a loud construction right next to our room. I don’t remember what time exactly but my husband kinda had enough so he went to the front and asked for another room. The front lady that day was kind enough to switch our room to a quieter wing of the hotel and our stay here was quite pleasant. The room was about the same size, it is quite small we cannot really fully open up our large luggages on the floor but it was manageable. Overall it is a modernized hotel and good location-wise to walk to the piers. There was no breakfast buffet. The common area is cute with pop art styled deco and there is a truck in the hotel’s backyard where you can buy coffee and simple breakfast. Or you can always walk to iHop which is right next door. There is a convenient store just around the back corner of the building too in case you want to grab snacks, water or socks etc.
Convenient location and within short waliking distance to Fisherman Wharf. Defects including damaged window blind and water leakage at toilet sink though just renovated lately. Poor noise insulation and could hear & feel the vibration from playing kids upstairs.
I thought that we might stick out like sore thumbs as this is such a hip style hotel but there were many different groups of people. From school groups to business people and people with young families. The location was very convenient we will definitely be coming back on our next trip to the US.
Great Hotel! Definitely Recommend!”
Check in was very fast and friendly. Location could not be better. Very close to Pier 39! Hotel was very modern and clean There is a Travel Desk in reception where you can arrange Tours and Transfers Great games room downstairs with Connect 4 games, Pool Table, Table Tennis, Jenga games. Comfortable seating areas The rooms are a little small, but not inconveniently so Large flat screen tv, backgammon and a dart board in the room There is no restaurant in the Hotel, but there is an iHop next door and all of the restaurants of Pier 39 less than 5 mins away I would definitely recommend this Hotel, and I will definitely stay here again.
Funky and cool hotel”
Stayed here with two young children (9 and 10) and they loved it. The games room at the lobby and the in-room dartboard was a hit. The decor is cool and adds a nice vibe to the hotel. Parking could be more competitive, otherwise it is a good choice if you want to explore the fisherman wharf area
Will definietely recommend this hotel!”
Stayed at the hotel for 3 wonderful nights Pros: the location is great, there's an activity center at the lobby which is a huge plus not just for the kids but for the adults too, there are different location for the lifts which is very convenient as well, the rooms are clean and i was surpirsed with their coffee maker because you can hardly see that in a hotel, the staff members were friendly, the lobby has huge space for guest Cons: the parking costs $57 (i do understand the that's the parking rate around SF itself but I suggest that they could have given their guest a discount for the parking), there are no staff members left at the front desk during midnight
Value for money, great location, great price (for location)”
Very very good, will stay there again for sure.
Daily parking was a rip off
Good & safe location, clean & spacious room”
Less than 5 mins walk to Fisherman Wharft, Pier 39 & transportation like buses, cable car & tram). Location is quit safe even walking with my wife at night from Chinatown back to hotel. Surrounded by ammenities, restaurants, supermarts, phamacies, tourist centers. Polite & helpful staffs, clean building environment & rooms.
Modern design, great staff”
Check-in time says 4pm but the staff let us check in at 10:15am as they have the room available. There's a dart board and coffee machine in the room. Very close to Pier 33 and 39 for Alcatraz and shopping/food.
Good for Friends and family”
They have a games room which was great. Outdoor camp fire Like heating in the cold was fun. Location was great and easy to find.
fab quirky hotel
Nice boutique hotel and great games room!
Trendy renovation but not a high quality hotel ”
Good location for Fishermans Wharf Bathroom lighting & mirrors were terrible !
No room services”
Even can not be provided boiled water
Best location hotel. Elevator was broken when I came. Hard to bring my own luggage.
Escape From Alcatraz 2016”
This is my 2nd visit to the Zephyr as it's a great location for Escape athletes. The hotel is clean, quiet and a great place to rest before the race and recover afterwards While the Wharf around the corner is not a lot of fun, proximity to the race site @ Marina Green is worth it. And by walking a few blocks north, you can explore all of the fine cafes and restaurants that San Francisco has to offer.
