My family stayed in Chiang Mai for 11 days (2Adults + 2 kids). We stayed in 4 different hotels. Duangtawan is the best. Big Hotel with big & comfortable room & bed, great value for money . Staffs are great, upgraded my room. Swimming pool is big & beautiful. Location is EXCELLENT, very very close to Anusarn Market, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Pavillion Chiang Mai, McDonald, Let's Relax massage & superrich money exchange, 7eleven right opposite, street food all around & much much more. Highly recommend!!!

In July 2011 I went to Thailand with my family, 2 adults & 2 children (5 & 12 years old. For our 6 day stay In Chiang Mai we chose the Raming Lodge based on the very positive reviews on Agoda. The positive rating of this hotel turned out to be well deserved & the hotel was even better than expected. The Raming lodge was one of the best hotels of our Thailand trip. We got connecting rooms which are very practical for families (but quite difficult to find in Thailand). Rooms were really charming: nicely decorated, spacious, well equipped (air-conditioning, fridge, wardrobes,…)& clean. There was also a swimming pool at the hotel, which was highly appreciated by our children. Breakfast (included in the roomrate) was good & varied. There was a good choice of western & Asian food. The restaurant of the hotel also served good food at lunch. Note that there are several other restaurants in the street, so you don’t need to go very far to have a meal if you prefer to eat outside the hotel. Staff was very kind, helpful & smiling. It is clear that the Raming Lodge does everything to please the guests. We booked a 2 day/1 night trek at the travel agency of the hotel. The trek was of high quality & well organized. It was not more expensive than in other travel agencies. As we booked the trek at the hotel we got vouchers for a free foot massage at the spa of the hotel. The massage was really relaxing & performed by specialists. The Raming Lodge is very well located, just in between the Night Bazar & the old city of Chiang Mai. Everything is at walking distance. As mentioned in some other reviews, there are some go-go bars in the street nearby the hotel but this was not at all disturbing. Street was safe. We strongly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a charming well located hotel in Chiang Mai. This hotel is also perfect for families & those who want to take some rest & take benefit of a spa.

The hotel is very much close to Chiang Mai Night Bazaare where you can find good stuff for shopping... even though it close to shopping area but it is not that close so that you are still able to enjoy your privacy... the hotel situates close in the inner city so that if you drive a car overthere, you need to plan ahead due to Chiang Mai traffic sometimes gives you a hard time especially when it is in Rush hour. Hotel is clean and staff is good. There are variety of food for breakfast... it is a great value hotel in Chiang Mai.

The hotel is located in the centre of Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, you can find different kind of local food here easily. Only 15-min walk can arrive old town. The hotel is clean, tidy and modern. The staff are nice and helpful. However, the air-conditioning was out of order in the 3rd night (very hot, felt like no air-conditioning). We called the staff to fix it at midnight who came within 5 mins. They completed the checking in my room for ~15 mins. However, the problem still existed and we informed the staff to fix it again in the next morning. We returned to the hotel after a day trip. The problem has been fixed eventually. Besides the above mentioned problem, I am satisfied with my stay in this hotel.

My friends and I were staying at Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel on 22-23 DEC. I know this hotel since 1985, after checked-in, this hotel made me big surprise as it is not like hotel with 30 year old age. Rooms are well maintained and furnished. Room size is big and window is wide that make us enjoyed the panoramic city view. Breakfast is fantastic for this 4 star hotel, we were firstly disppoint of the buffet line in the breakfast room but suddenly when we went out to the restaurant's corridor we were again enjoyed of many fresh cooked items including of Chinese doughnut, eggs station and Kanom krok. The corridor of the restaurant will make you more tasty in winter time. Hotel is just 2 blocks to the famous Chiang Mai night bazaar and if you arrive Chiang Mai by train like us, it is just 10 minutes drive from Railway station. Also with the same distance to Bus station.

i've been coming back to this hotel year after year. i'd have to say this is one of the best hotels in chiang mai, the staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home. the food is great, the service is great. there's even avis in the hotel if u need to rent a car. its location near the night bazaar and restaurants is great coz transportation is not that easy in chiang mai unless if ur renting a car. the taxi drivers and tuk tuk will always over charge you. i recommend renting a car coz its not that expensive plus u get to see more.

Yaang Come Village is a beautiful little oasis just next to Night Bazaar. Hotel is just next to Night Bazaar, yet a bit inside making it a very quiet and beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed their nice breakfast, pool, which was just perfect for our son and, of course, proximity to Night Bazaar and other attractions! As others have mentioned, they did have a bit of mosquitoes, but again, so do all the other hotels in Chiang Mai and SEA. If we are back in Chiang Mai we will definitely stay at Yaang Come Village again!

I stayed here for almost a week for my 1st trip to Chiang Mai. The hotel is in a great location as I wanted to to check out the nightlife as its on the main bar street though its in the main city centre of new town with the Chiang mai night bazaar within walking distance which is a must see as well as heaps of shops cafés and restaurant's the WiFi wasn't extremely strong in my room on the 2nd floor ( last room in the corridor ) but still usable and room cleaning service wasn't done until the end of the day around 5pm but apart from that was a great stay and I'll be staying again definitely as the staff are great there

My family stayed at the Manirakorn Hotel for two nights in Deluxe Terrace rooms. The hotel is located within walking distance of about 7 minutes from Chiang Mai's famous night bazaar. With the comfortable walking distance, one can enjoy the tranquility of the night as well as the bustling night life. Getting tuk-tuk (local taxi) is very easy. Once you raise a hand, taxi drivers never miss you. What I feel is lacking is that the terrace buildings do not have elevators. Hence, getting up can be quite a tiring climb for those tired legs after exploring Chiang Mai and the hillside. In addition, no twin bed rooms provided in the terrace buildings. One of the rooms I stayed in has a bathtub outside of the bath room. What an idea was that? In my opinion, creative is a word used in exaggeration. On the other hand, this hotel has much more plus points than its bad points. Great service is the key in hospitality excellence. Manirakorn Hotel staff were very friendly in assisting our travel plans. One of the receptionists gave us her suggested itinerary for a day in Chiang Mai. Great that we did not miss out on the must-sees in Chiang Mai. Hotel facilities were adequate for all travelers' needs. I had a lazy morning at the swimming pool, sunbathing. Or catch up with friends back home at night via email using their free Internet access provided at the lobby. It would be better if seats were provided for users as well as time allocation for a more organised control of the users in the queue. It can be quite frustrating for one who needs to "fight" in order to use the Internet first. In my opinion, I think the security would be tighter if it checks the guests and people entering the hotel. It seems like anybody can just walk in and wander around. In any case, the security personnel provided the first contact point for us and they greeted us with bright friendly smiles. We try to plan a getaway every quarter and usually we go out to nature but this time we tried something different. We wanted to be right in the middle of bustling activity. D2 was the perfect place to enjoy all the features of the Chiang Mai night bazaar. Restaraunt options were plentiful but you will not be dissappointed by eating in the hotel. The staff was friendly, courteous and efficient. The retro look of the interior design was tastefully done as well.

I really liked this hotel and will definitely go back. The rooms are really nice and good size too. The bed was comfy. The front of the hotel has a cute little bar with decent drink prices. Breakfast was good. Pool is small but looked beautiful. It's on a quieter street but just a few minutes walk to the Night Bazaar and the Sunday Night Walking Street. My only complaint is that when I asked the staff to book us a taxi to the airport, the best she could offer was a car for 600 baht! I go to Chiang Mai a lot and know that that is a ridiculous price. She wouldn't call any other taxis/car services. We ended up just flagging down a songtheaw on the street for 200 baht - it was 4am.

For smokers, take note that Chiang Mai is a city that do not pander to the needs of smokers. Hotels, food courts, (even roadside hawker stalls) pubs, bars (that I went to) all had a NO SMOKING policy. For Star Hotel, it was rather nice of the Management to allow smoking outside the hotel's main entrance. The area doubles up as an outdoor drinking zone for guests. It was a welcomed facility for smokers like myself. Overall I find this hotel perfect for my stay in Chiang Mai. 1. Location wise it is smacked next to a night market and a food court. Excellent 2. Facilities wise: 2.1. Wifi was a bit difficult to connect. Every time you leave the hotel and return it doesn't reconnect automatically. No complaints here. Just that you need to do a bit of extra work to get connected. 2.2. Bed though firm and some might even say "hard" was excellent for me. 2.3. Room was excellent for the money paid 2.4. Breakfast was sufficiently satisfying. (I'm not one who pays a small sum of money and expects a princely spread) 2.5. Staff was friendly and smiling and accommodating (it cuts both ways...I guess if you scowl all day or nit pick at everything, most people won't be smiling at you) 2.6. Food - nice and reasonably priced. One evening we were too lazy to walk all the way to the market for food and decided to try out the hotel's "Sukiyaki" aka Buffet Steam Boat and for something like 180 bhat per person we had a wonderful dinner at the hotel's restaurant. 2.7. Cleanliness, everything was clean 2.8. Shower - for taller people this might be a problem. My height is 5 feet 6 inches and it serves my purpose. My taller friends had a bit of a problem getting the shower to hit them at the right spots. Hahaha. Water pressure was acceptable 3. Overall, I would definitely stay in Star Hotel again for my future trip I find this an unpretentious hotel and in fact pleasantly surprised that it was higher than my expectations.

good value hotel which is located at the chiang mai night bazaar. had a pleasant surprise when i first entered the room. i had expected an old run-down hotel but the room was clean and modern. the shower stall is separated from the room by a large glass window equipped with retro wooden blinds. cool! the room was kind of elongated with space for coffee table. i read some comments about internet connectivity issues but my experience with the room wifi connection is entirely pleasant. i was able to access the internet without any problems and the connection speed was good. the breakfast spread the next morning was expansive. there's the usual american breakfast, eggs cooked to your specifications, porridge (rice soup - which was rather bland) and selection of fruits.

Bathroom very clean. Very near night bazaar. Breakfast add on 150b/person if it’s not including in your room booking. Variety quite ok, taste not bad. They got western and Thai food. Other breakfast option is you can walk up to 1 km to the market (anusarn / fruit market). Receptionist 24hours which is good. No fridge in the room. No lift at the building which is a minus. But bellboy will always be ready to help you

There's always a receptionist at the front desk, and they're so nice, helpful, and knowledgable. I got there around noon, and she booked me a songthaew right then for an afternoon trip. They also arranged a songthaew for me when leaving for the airport. If you're planning to do day trips, they have a booklet to look through, and you can book through the hotel. The location is very close to the Night Bazaar and walking distance to the Sunday Night Market and Chiang Mai Gate. The room was nicely made with folded up towels - yes there were little bugs, however it's Thailand and pretty much unavoidable. There's a safe in the room as well. I highly recommend this place, it wasn't expensive and it's good quality.

We enjoyed our stay at the NightBazaar In Hotel. It's in a great location just behind and near the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar areas. The rooms are very well maintained, the swimming pool is nice and breakfast options good. Shopping, entertainment and many good restaurants are just a very short walk away The hotel staff is very polite and helpful. We will try to stay there again inthe future.

The Old City Wall Inn is a newer and trendier hotel in Chiang Mai with Nordic style charm . Every staff member are friendly and welcoming! It is evident that the staff also loves here. The location of the hotel is excellent being at the southeastern part of Old City. This vantage point offers a short walk to scenic spots, bazaar and bars and it’s quiet as darkness fell. We stayed in a ‘Deluxe Garden Double’ which was spacious enough for my friend and I. A fragrance greeted the nostrils when stepped into the room, then a tidy table, a spotless bathroom and a quiet balcony came into our sight. Snacks, drinks and ‘Save Our Planet’ signage in the room made us feel like we were at home. The cafe next to the Inn was the place we had our breakfast. While garden and road could be seen through the windows, it was very relaxing to eat a leisurely breakfast while experiencing local. We were very happy with our stay and highly recommended it. We look very forward to our next stay! Thanks!

I thing this is by far the best hotel for the money I paid in Chiang Mai. Location is something most hotels in Chiang Mai could only envy - right near Night Market with big spacious parking and extremely pleasant guard. Rooms are big, mine was refurbished so I can't complain about anything, especialy since price of room with breakfast was just a fraction of a cost I normaly pay in other hotels.

Amazing stay! Its a beautiful boutique hotel with Lanna architecture inspired. Since you are in CHiang Mai, you might as well stay and experience the Lanna design and decor and get the feel of local architecture influence. Room is spacious enough for two,comfortable bed,and cool raw bathroom concept. Tv location is a bit tricky as they are using 4post bed and the frame interfere with your tv view..I stay at room 121...this is the best room I would say as it was away from the main road and the receptions. You can opt to choose room 121, 122, and 123, all on the same row. Breakfast was good and filling. The location of the hotel is great as it is very close to Sunday market as well as night market. Tha Pae gate is also within 5 minutes walks, with a lot of cool shops and cafe a long the way. Overall great place to stay. Really happy with the whole thing :)

Lilu Chang Mai Hotel is conveniencely located right next to the night bazaar, the number one tourist attraction in Chiang Mai. The decoration is stylish. The staff is extremely friendly, and they always carry a smile. The breakfast area is also comfortable. We met several Thai travellers who stayed at Lilu Chiang Mai Hotel whenever they travel to this area. For such low price, and we're getting such great value for money, I would recommend it to everyone.

Do not be deceived by its name. The Small Hotel in Chiang Mai is located near the Night Bazaar Market (Chang Klan Rd, 5min walk) and Tha Phae Gate. If possible book your trip with a Sunday as they have a weekly Sunday Night Bazaar at this gate. Although the things you see are similar to the ones at the Night Bazaar street. They have a nice rooftop breakfast patio. Simple basic food, not your overwhelming grand greasy buffet.

Large Room, Comfortable king size bed, full size refrigerator, air conditioner plus oscillating fan, hot water kettle, coffee cups plus coffee packets, 2 bottles of water daily. No elevator so should have strong legs. Quiet side street. Close to public transportation, historic sites and plenty of tourist markets. Thai food shops but not much in the way of food carts. Close to night market which is tourist bait. Sunday evening steer market is outstanding for variety of unique goods, produce and real fruit juices. Most tourist sites are across town towards the mountains. Songthaews, tuk tuks or an air conditioned bus can take you to a starting point to access the tourist sites. 3 days in Chiang Mai is plenty enough. Be adventurous and take a bus into the unknown... Thailand is Very safe and Very Very tourist friendly. Buses and air flights are Cheap. I have lived in Thailand for 14 years. This is my home. Sleep cheap, eat cheap, travel cheap and get more Thai culture. Sawasdee Krub.

Great. This was our 2nd stay in a month's span...conveniently located within walking distance to historical Chiang Mai, night market, night entertainment, etc. The hotel also has a friendly travel agent on the premises with excellent English speaking skills. There are many other guest houses and hotels around the area but we found VIPA House to be very affordable, clean, comfortable, and friendly.

We had the best time in Chiang Mai and this hotel was awesome! The staff were very friendly with arranging tours and laundry services. We stayed here 4 nights and it was great! They graciously watched our bags on our last day as our flight was at 11pm, which was awesome! Would definitely stay again! Very clean, great location; in the old part of Chiang Mai close to lots of shopping, shops and restaurants!
