(i) Well it has a cotton pillow instead of a feather pillow. (ii) There is no bathtub but it does have a great rain shower with strong water pressure. (iii) Thick carpets but not as thick as a 5-star hotel. (iv) Bed and bed linens however are as good as a 5-star hotel bed. (v) Bed linens however can be a bit more softer/smoother. However this might be pushing it as not may 5-start hotels bed linens are very smooth. (vi) Bathroom not as big as that of a 5-star hotel. (vii) Don't like the water closet as it does not have a hand bidet. (ix) Great family swimming pool. (x) Good breakfast spread and delicious. Again not big enough spread for a 5-star hotel. Con (i) There is an intermitten methane-line smell in the hotel corridors. But not so irritating as it does not go into the room. (ii) A major drawback which I think the hotel would need to fix immediately is the noisy air-corn in the room. A real turn-off, especially given that its a relatively new hotel. Overall, not a 5-star hotel but a above-average 4-star hotel. Real value for money for the price.

We had 3 nights there on this stay. I have been visiting the Puteri Pacific for about 10 years and have always had excellent services and the staff are fantastic. My fiancee and I both agree it was the best 3 nights sleep we had. The room was quiet, with very comfortable beds,spacious and excellent value for money. We stayed on the Executive level which is equal to 5 star hotels. The hotel is situated in the centre of the city walking distance from JB City Centre and JB City Square, both shopping centres are great with a variety of brands and good cafes and restaurants. JB is undergoing a lot of upgrades with construction along the river, taxis are now all metered and you feel safe.

Booked two rooms after researching on the hotels around the area. We were happy when we saw the rooms which are bigger than we have expected. The unblocked view is a plus point too. The rooms are equipped with lcd tv with a number of channels to choose from. There are also facilities such as iron, electric kettle, fridge, etc inside the room. The swimming pool, while small, is just nice for the kids. We like the fact that the food centre is just next to the hotel. Also, the new KSL shopping mall is within walking distance away. Will definitely return to this hotel again.

1) Location It is super convenient & very close to CIQ with just Komtar JBCC across the street. Within walking distances to the hip cafes down at Jln Dhoby & surrounded by shopping centres around, its truly a great place to be situated at if you love shopping. 2) Hotel Upon arrival, from the concierge to the front desk to the bell hop as well as the restaurants, i was greeted with warmth, smiles and a pleasant hospitality that is a kin to how the Thai hotels greet their guests. It made me feel so welcomed. The waiting lounge was nothing short of impeccable with its beautiful library full of books and top notch PCs with internet to a pool table for guests to interact with while waiting for their check-in. Every part of the hotel makes for an instagram worthy picture. 3) The room was huge! And it was incredibly beautiful! With a nice lounge chair, a work desk, a console that kept not only the minibar but the kettle, cups & TWG tea away to make the room clutter free. The room was equipped with a hair dryer, iron & ironing board so there's no need to pester to loan one. That king size bed is really luxurious to sleep in. If you don't really soft pillows, you might want to ask for more. The pillows were too soft for my liking. 4) Service I spent my birthday there & requested the room to be decorated. This part is one I am slightly disappointed it. Although I received a big cake that I adore & was complimentary (it was so yummy!), paying rm150 for just helium-filled balloons and a small banner on the bed to say Happy Birthday didn't cut it for me. There are so much things that can be done rather than just balloons for that price. 5) Restaurant Just check out their Facebook & you can see yourself drooling everywhere! It is exactly as what it is. I spent 2 hours sitting for breakfast & I still haven't tried everything that was made available. Everything was simply marvelously cooked to perfection in my opinion of course. Overall, would I come again

The price are very cheap considering the service and facilities available in the hotel.Is wifi is actually free. Nice and spacious room.Lots of selections for breakfast.Shopping centres are actually within walking distance if you know your way around.Only downside is,the jacuzzi needs repairing.Other than that,a very enjoyable experience for a cheap hotel with facilities and services worthy of a five star rating.

A lot of people misunderstood the hotel star rating. Hotel star rating just base on what amenity is offered by the hotel. Meaning as long as the hotel offer these amenities it still count as part of their stars. Mutiara is no doubt a 5star hotel, it have all the 5star requirement box ticked, starting with their 24hr front desk and room service. I must say their staffs are very efficient. The check-in is smooth and quick. Later, I call for them to bring us extra towels and bathrobe, which they did promptly. On our second night I ask them if we can loan a wine opener and few minutes later their staff came and even help us open our wine. The room itself is a bit small compared to other 5star hotel in Malaysia but it is clean, well equipped and cozy. The bed is comfortable with a lot of soft pillows. We had a good sleep at night. No noise at all and the temperature control are good. They have a full mini bar although its not complimentary and the price is 5 time more expensive. We got a room on the fourth floor facing the housing area. Not much of a view. The bathroom got a complete set of towels and accessories although bath and shower are not separated. Although Mutiara have a fine selection of restaurant, we only have the time to try Capri, their Italian café and we had a very nice dinner here. As for surrounding area, its next to Holiday Plaza and walking distance to KSL City. Theres also a very nice day spa right across the hotel. Overall mutiara for me is a bit old, but still the best hotel in JB. Two thumps up.

My partner and I had a truly great experience at the hotel. The service staff, from front desk to housekeeping, exhibited exemplary five star service. Having stayed in many hotels in JB I can say with great certainty that doubletree is setting new standards for the hospitality industry in JB. I hope this hotel doesn't suffer the same fate as the other hotels in JB that will eventually lapse and diminish in service and upkeep over time. But for now, I have high hopes for this establishment. The only flaw I can think of is how the housekeeping missed out on replenishing tissues in my bathroom. Other than that I want to highlight that the front door team is impeccable in their dedication the work. They are the warmest group among all the departments, ready to offer help and directions. The public bathrooms on the ground floor were also easily one of the best bathrooms in JB, smelling of essential oils and sparklingly clean.

If you want a hotel in JB town centre then Erica is a great location. For the price that you pay the rooms are clean and functional. Please bring your own toothbrush and shampoo. Other toiletrees are provided like shower cap. Breakfast is just sufficient. You get fried rice and noodles with fried egg or fried chicken. Porridge with condiments are also available. Bread with butter and jam are provided. Surprisingly the coffee was good. All in all a good 3 star hotel.

Stayed for a night in their one bedroom, it was beyond my expectation and far best stay so far in Johor Bahru. Apartment is newly opened. The parking was quite safe and I can assure that - especially for Singaporeans who have second thoughts on parking their motorbikes in Johor Bahru. The security guards were very attentive, seen them doing round checks in the premises. The check in was swift and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. Check in time was at 3pm but we checked in way earlier around 2pm. Was issued a room key however it was not really ready when we were outside our room. Waited for 10 minutes to be in the room but it is fine for me. Location is good for solo travellers too as the hotel was just a walking distance to Komtar JBCC and City Square. There’s 7-11 convenient store just right at the hotel lobby in case you need to get something urgently. Now, the cons about the apartment was the parking you have to pay on your own. (It comes with a price I guess) And the major turn off - their housekeeper was very rude. Knocked the door several times at 10:45AM to tell us to check out when we clearly knew the check out time was 12PM. Leave that alone, the housekeeper repeatedly knocked the door again at 12PM SHARP. How intense was that. I dont remember requesting the front desk to get someone for my wake up call. She was also rude when we asked the other housekeeper to confirm the check out time. She gave us her unpleasant death stare and walked away when the other housekeeper was apologizing on her behalf. Very rude and unprofessional. I hope the management can look into this matter. Other than that, theres nothing much to point out. Will still give the 5 star rating!

We found the staff at the Grand Bluewave Hotel to be very accommodating. The check in staff allowed us to check in early (5am) and nothing was a problem. The room we ordered was spacious and clean. However the bed sheets did not quite fit the bed. We are both quite tall people so that did annoy us, the sheet ended at your ankles. We had two televisions in our suite but only one remote control, lucky it worked on both. A nice kitchenette but no plates or glasses etc. We noticed lack of information in our room. No folder explaining what facilities were in the hotel, restaurants, bars, day spa etc The only thing was a room service menu. We would of liked to know about dining and things to do close by and how much the internet in the room would cost us. The pool was beautiful except for the very rough pebble edging. When it would of been built it would of been lovely and smooth and nice to walk on. After years of chlorine eroding the edging the pebbles were very rough and sharp. You could not sit on the edge of the pool without snagging your bathers. Im surprised that nothing has been done about this already and it's got to this state. Another poolside matter is no food or beverages around the pool. We would of loved to of had lunch or even a drink around the pool. I have been to other hotels which provide you with a room service menu and a phone (next to the fresh towels) to order and they will deliver to the pool. This was not an option. The hotel could increase their revenue by providing better service to their customers. Breakfast was ok, as for western food it was not the best. I understand that not many westerners probably visit this hotel and the indian/asian breakfast option was actually better. With Legoland now open and potentially attracting more international tourists, an improvement on the above items would benefit the hotel. One more thing, adding your email address to your website would be appreciated.

We frequent JB, at least once a month hence we are always on a lookout for an affordable yet pleasant stay and we have tried a few good and a couple of bad hotels. Dare we say this is by far the best budget boutique hotel in JB presently. Belllo is new, about a month young hence it is too early to give a fair review but we will be back to review it in 6 months and 1 year. We stayed in the deluxe room 306 which greeted us as we stepped out of the lift. The room was small but cosy and functional. The interior was sleek and contemporary with a window beside the queen size bed. There is a mini fridge and a safety deposit box. We love the rain shower. The air-con is centralized with a controller on the wall - choose "cool" mode, set temp to 23 deg and fan on high and unwind. The soft queen size bed was perfect for two and felt almost like we're floating on clouds. I think they used feather pillows; pillows were good but we had to fold them to be comfortable so we asked for two more. Singapore and Malaysia TV channels in English, Malay, Chinese, Indian and Cable TV such as StarWorld and HBO are available and most are clear. This is important because we love staying in the room. Check in and check out was a breeze. We were greeted by three different receptionists during the course of our stay, one of them was the manager and all of them were pleasant and nice. Even the security guards and housekeeping was smiling and friendly. 2 mins walk from the hotel is the the Meldrum Walk street food, walk 3 mins to City Square Shopping Centre and 5 mins walk to Komtar JBCC. Stay up late shopping at these two shopping malls or catch a midnight movie and not worry about catching a cab. We are very pleased with Belllo and look forward to make it our main stay. We hope that they will keep to their current standards in the years to come as many new hotels in JB are too quick to lose their touch and suffer many complaints from bad customer service to faulty and issues in the rooms.

The visit to Johor Bahru was a totally last minute trip and we didn't have time to research where to go or stay. We sat at a Starbucks and found an affordable hotel in the area. We walked over from JB Central (less than 5 minute walk) and tried to check in. The walk in price was significantly higher than then online (there was a promotion going on online) so we asked if we could sit in their lobby and use their internet to book our room. They said yes and were very nice about it. Our room was nice, small in size and relatively clean but definitely not a 4 star hotel (as they like to call themselves.) They supposedly have a gym but we didn't check it out. They had a small hotpot in the room and instant coffee and tea packets available. Unfortunately there were a lot of little ants there, too. I noticed it the night before but thought nothing of it (I live in Thailand and have ants in my office all the time!!) when I went to bed. I put the hot water on, opened the coffee and tea, went to wash up and later realized (or more my friend did) that there were ants in the coffee. I'd stay here. It's small and cute but also affordable ($29/night) with the online promotion. I'm not sure I'd stay there for much more than that and definitely not for the full price.

I am quite familiar with the estate where the hotel is in but had never wanted to stay in it. But my opinion has changed completely. Despite the 1990s facade and seemingly off-site location, the interior is very premium and the room is very clean, outperforming it's status as a 4 star hotel. The room is plush, and huge. The bathroom came with a clean large bathtub, and a powerful shower with hot water in good supply. Some flaking of the chrome piece on the bathtub knob is seen but not disturbing. Otherwise, it's in a very good condition. It even comes with a rubber headrest for relaxing in the tub. WiFi is strong although I wished the aircon could cope better with the large room. From my high nonsmoking floor, I realized how near it is to walk to the nearby ksl mall and holiday plaza. The hotel is also 15 mins walk to the pelangi plaza, which is the only area you can find early morning supper nearby. For 15 mins walk, you can also walk to the nearby sri tebrau food centre. The location is very good. The swimming pool was a let down. It's very small and you have to walk through the conference rooms floor in swimming trunks, and then down a dark stairway to get to it. There is no one giving out pool towels too. Overall, a very good stay for the location, comfort and price.

I read one of the reviews that she booked this hotel to celebrate a birthday and requested for decorations in the room and actually got it. So my boyfriend and i were just thinking of whether we should stay for the night after doing some visitings, and we were looking for affordable yet convenient location to KSL since we would hang out there till late. And i managed to grab the last room here at 1pm on the same day. Made my request in the box during booking - requested for a birthday decoration as it would be a surprise + an anniversary staycation. You know how such special requests usually wont go through to the hotel, or maybe some hotels just dont care / bother. So i tried my luck and left a request whether i get it or not it'll just be a bonus since i already got to book the room at a steal! :) But to my surprise, i actually received an email reply from the hotel to say they have noted my requests and will get it done. I replied back and told them if they cant make it in time for my check in at 4pm, they can do it by 10pm. But by about 3pm, they replied that the decoration has already been done and i could check in anytime. I was really impressed. We walked over from KSL about 7mins walk, and upon check in i was told that the hotel actually gave us a free room upgrade. So instead of 1 queen bed, we actually got an extra single bed in the room. Which was a really nice gesture. Just nice my sis was in JB too so she came along and we had a mini birthday celebration for my bf. I would really like to thank the staffs of Hallmark Regency Hotel especially those who had replied to my emails during the course of my pre-stay and stay (cos i had other carpark questions as well). Thanks for letting us have such a memorable and wonderful stay, and at such an affordable price. I would definitely recommend my friends and come back for my future staycations in JB. :) 5 stars is definitely not enough! heh Cheers!

Stayed one night whilst visiting JB. I am a seasoned traveller, always going for quality but at the same time not breaking the bank to have it. For the money I paid, this was excellent. Clean rooms, excellent rain shower bathroom, friendly and diligent staff. Best of all, really nice coffee at breakfast along with the standard nasi lemak and other western food like sausage and halal hams (only in Malaysia). Would stay here again if the price doesn't change. Would rate it excellent 3 star hotel or a decent 4 stars.

I was greeted with a warm welcome at lobby with porter taking my luggage. Front desk staff were polite and friendly. They upgraded me to a suite due to deluxe room not ready for early check in. They allowed me early check in since I was traveling direct from KLIA. My room was amazing! Full amenities with 5 stars. There was in dining 20% vouchers for f&B and survey forms. There was no snacks at minibar so I requested to put some there. They sent it up COMPLIMENTARY! The porter gave me advice on good food in the hotel and outside the nearby shops. My flight was at 4pm and they allowed me late check out once I showed my tickets. That was also complimentary. They even gave me 10% Starbucks voucher to enjoy next door at Starbucks while waiting for my limo. The duty manager was very helpful but his team of staffs were even more helpful. From the security guards to the housekeeping staffs, to the porter and front desk staffs! Super location -so cheap to take a cab to town. Best hotel ever

The hotel is well located being practically besides komtar and city square shopping centres. The easiest way to access the hotel would be to walk through the shopping centre that amari is located at and then walk down the road to the hotel. Staff were great with a quick check in even late at night and even asked if I wanted a hair dryer as they weren't provided in each room but rather issued from the front desk at check in, most likely to reduce theft. The only issue would be the lack of hooks to hang your clothes and bath towels in the bathroom that would prevent them from getting wet. This is due to the small size of the bathroom and the lack of a shower curtain or glass panel preventing water from spraying everywhere and getting the whole bathroom wet.

Bathroom was tiny almost to the point of claustrophobia. Thus, the sink was located outside the bathroom which is interesting but somewhat problematic. Still usable though, and we didn't mind Room and hotel was clean and well-maintained, the best we have seen in Johor. Tastefully-furnished, and bed was comfortable. Security is good, with keycard access to hotel itself, and lift lobby, and security guard(s) round-the-clock. Parking ISN'T free, by right, but the security guard will tear coupons FOC when the parking warden makes their rounds. Buffet breakfast doesn't have much of a spread, but the food is tasty, reasonably healthy and fresh. Basic selection of fruits, cereals, local delicacies like kueh, otah. Also good half-boiled eggs (a local breakfast-essential) and beehoon, etc. The location is quite good, with restaurants in the area and Pelangi shopping centre nearby. the area does look a bit seedy. Nevertheless, there's no fear, with the vigilant security guards standing watch 24 hours.

JB is the armpit of Malaysia, and the City's unpleasant and run-down hotel scene does reflect this perfectly. Hard to believe therefore, that such a hidden gem still can be found. The Grand Jade is located not far from the CIQ and JB Sentral, towards the sea. From the JB Sentral Bus station, where the airport Express stops, it is about 7-8 minutes walk. I discovered it while sitting on the said Bus a week earlier, and after several nasty experiences in the downtown-area, I luckily decided to give the Grand Jade a try. The rooms, which are obviosuly all different in size and design, are tastefully decorated with quality-hardwood-furniture. the mattress is excellent, not too soft, but as well not hard as concrete. the bathroom is very small (at least in my room), and the sink is inside the actual room, but that did not bother me. they give you design-toiletries (hand-made designer-soap!!!), and they give you a small basket with snacks for free - quality snacks, no rubbish: 2 packs of expensive Marigold Multi-fruit-juice, 100% juice, no sugar added. Cookies with no preservatives added. The big flat-screen TV has Astro with several (though not too many) English and Chinese channels. Sadly, there is no fridge in the room, this is the one big let-down, particularly as there is no convenience store around where you could just drop by and buy a cold drink or whatever. Kettle, coffee/tea, Hairdryer is provided. some rooms obviously do not have a window, but mine had. I would not have accepted a windowless room for that price. the problem with the location is, that there is a lot of street noise right outside, and even though the windows are good and of high standard, they can not block all the street noise. But nevertheless, this was a very positive stay, and if I am unlucky enough that I have to stay in JB again in the future, this small hotel will be my first consideration for sure. these people actually understand the meaning of hospitality - they deserve your business !

Prior to going to Hotel CIQ, I made my research of how the place looked like in Google maps and was not very impressed with the surroundings. It didn't look appealing and thought that I won't be getting my money's worth. But lo and behold, Hotel CIQ delivered the superb service without the pricey cost of a regular hotel. The room can fit 3 adults, 1 child. Wifi had strong signal in the room and gave us opportunity to download our pictures online right away at no cost. The bathroom was spacious, with hot-cold water. Complete standard amenities like electric kettle, Malaysian coffee, bottled water daily, clean towels and bed sheets, air conditioning was working at good condition, fridge and safe available. The staff were very accommodating and kudos to them for their immediate responses to our demands. The ambience outside was ok and safe. There is a nearby convenience store complete with stuff that you can buy at a very affordable price. 1L of bottled water that cost less than 1Ringgit compared to 7-11 that you can buy worth 3Ringgit. Bread, biscuit, drinks hot cold available until midnight. The hotel is 10mins away by cab from their famous shopping malls like JB City Square and KSL, while less than 30mins taxi from Legoland. Had a nice stay in Johor Bahru and thanks to this Hotel for the pleasant accommodations given to us. 2 thumbs up!!!

I spent 30 (thirty) days at this hotel and I felt like home. Very polite and helpfull staff. Taking a taxi is a matter of walking about 100m to a main road and wait for no longer than three minutes and a free taxi will drive by :). About 4-500 m is Danga City Mall with UO store. The KSL bus has a stop next to the mall and costs one MYR to CIQ and JB Sentral. Taxi cost less than 10 MYR. The hotel was refurbished and has new tiles in the rooms and bathrooms which is very clean. After nine days at Grand Bluewave Hotel ***** (ultra noisy air conditioner and neighbour rooms with direct view at me in bed) and 31 days at Berjaya Waterfront **** (changed four times the room due to no hot water or air conditioned) I found Golden Court the best value for money by far. The included breakfast is very handy.

even before i book from agoda i have been staying in this hotel for a few times but with agoda the price is better and i was surprise that they have cable tv now with star movie it was something new for this hotel where they don have it before and the guest will not be boring even they wanted to stay in the room for the whole day it's a regret that they do not have wi-fi in the room hope they improve on this

Location-not my first time in this location as it is near the CIQ to Singapore but without car park. Therefore only suitable for flight travellers via SIN or JHB airports or bus. Those who drive from other parts of Malaysia, sorry no parking. Eats-just around the corner is Meldrum Walk, if you do not fancy hawker food, City Square Mall is just nearby where you can get higher end food. BEWARE-there are some vice activities and prostitutes may be hanging out outside the hotel, but as long as you avoid them it should be ok. Staff-There was one elderly Indian man-Senior staff? Very courteous and professional as a hotel staff. Facilities-very good, booked the room with window and it was big and spacious for one person. Facilities-TV Channel. Fox Movies...Wowww, this is one reason that I wish I could stay longer and more in my room. The availability of movies means you have your own private cinema from the bed. Quite hard for a business traveller like me to leave the room though xD

UTC JB RM8.00 JB Sentral RM7.00 KSL Resort RM8.00 For the hotel rate you pay, this hotel is very good. Hot water shower, toothbrush, coffee making facility, LCD TV and dressing/writing table. Best rate will be when you book through Agoda. Beautiful stay.
