"I've stayed at the Eastin Grand Sathorn twice now. I chose it because of its proximity to the Myanmar Embassy and the BTS, but besides that it represents one of the best values in high-end hotels in the entire city, with great staff, amazing amenities, an excellent gym, the best access to the BTS you could hope for, great breakfast, and even some wonderful street food options right out the front door. I couldn't recommend the place more and unless I have to stay in another part of the city for business reasons, this is the hotel I will always stay at when visiting Bangkok."

"i stayed here for 2 nights. i am okay with the hotel location, though it's quite far from the city centre but, it was my choice to stay here. the bts saphan thaksin station is approximately 5 minutes walk from the hotel. from here, you can take the bts to siam square (approximately 10 minutes), or change to another bts line to either mo chit station (chatuchak market) which takes approximately another 15-20 minutes from siam station, or to sukhumvit area e.g. nana (which takes approximately another 10-15 minutes). you can also take the mrt line from the siam station. airport link also connect to the bts line from phyatai station. the hotel service is at its best, like most thailand hotel. they cater to your needs when you request from them. there is a swimming pool and separate sauna rooms for men & ladies, which is at the 2nd floor. breakfast is provided at the cafe but i did not take the breakfast due to the absence of halal meals. a walk from the hotel to the east side, you will find all the banks, thai cooking school, and even malaysian embassy. a walk to the west, will meet you with a huge temple, university and local retail shops. a walk to the north, will take you to bangkrak night market, robinson mall, shangri-la hotel, jetty to the chao phraya river cruise, massage parlors and local retail shops. in overall, the location is okay. you can sleep well at night with out hearing any music from bars, or people shouting downstairs, or even cars honking. however, one minus point is that the wall is so thin that you can actually hear your upstairs neighbour flushing the toilet. but, it is not so rampant i suppose coz most of the time, we were outside. for muslim, there are 2 small muslim vendors selling noodles next to the pharmacy, you will see them on your way to robinson mall. "The hotel is small and friendly. The roof terrace with pool and sun loungers is a delight, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the front-of-house staff are friendly, and helpful to the utmost. Breakfasts were good, and even the mini-bar was not the usual rip-off, with a tin of Singha and a packet of cashews costing a grand total of 100 baht. Grand Sathorn is well situated, close to skytrain, a short walk from the river and piers for river trips. It is a great base for a visit to Bangkok. So why not rate it 4-star? Simply that restaurant services are limited to room service or breakfast. Sometimes, particularly business travelers, but others too, need to be able to entertain in their hotel. A hotel without a full-time restaurant is not really 4-star. There are excellent restaurants nearby, for those used to Thai restaurants, but with TVs blaring and open to the streets, these are not really suited to business conversation. So a good 3-star, not quite reaching the 4, but the warm welcome, terrific staff and the very high standards of comfort and cleanliness will guarantee my return."

"We stayed 3 nights and 4 days in the new building of the hotel. I first booked a room in the old building which cost mebaht each night; but upon my arrival, a receptionist recommended me to try a room in the new building, which was a great advice. I added 300 baht more per night in order to get the room from the new building; , which was not bad at all. The decoration was just finished a month ago. The room was not too big and too small but everything is very new and clean. Air-con is perfect; shower and bath tub were very new and we loved it. We stayed on the 5th floor and it was just around the corner of the private swimming pool. The hotel is situated in a great location because it is near China Town, the river, Silom, and other important tourist attractions. Don't expect much about the included breakfast; the food is so plain but over-priced. Wi-fi is free from the new building; you have to pay 100 baht extra to get the Wi-fi if you want to stay in the old building. Most staff at the hotel were friendly, especially those who don't work at the front desk..."

"We picked this hotel as we needed to get visas for Myanmar and the embassy was around the corner. The room was large and modern, cold powerful air cons & a movie channel on the tv. The bathrooms need to be renovated, but this didn't bother us. The hotel provided a bunch of facilities: free breakfast, laundry, pool, gym, family mart. There are also taxis always waiting outside, food ladies which have great spring rolls/fruit & the sky train to get around the city. Great location especially for those wanting to go shopping. Cons: The wifi was terrible. On and off the entire time. Go down to the lobbey for a more reliable connection. Also, not many restaurants nearby for dinner"

"Overall, the stay was as expected of Hilton standards. The warmest staff there are probably the boat shuttle personnel, and doormen. The others are rather cold and a little too impersonal. The worst is probably the 'breakfast door-lady' who never fail to embarrass my wife and I for two days. Perhaps it was my mistake to have made an error during my online booking to indicate only 1 person. Despite being assured during check-in that I can just walk in and the extra will be charged accordingly, I am still subjected to a 5 minutes questioning and further checking in the systems. But I suspect she does not understand my request "Please charge to my room". So, be extra careful when doing the booking, otherwise you would be harassed. Anyway, the breakfast is plain, at best, for a 5-star hotel. Although far, the hotel's boat shuttle makes it up. It is convenient, safe, regular, FOC and connects you almost directly to the BTS (Saphan Taksin) and the river express central jetty. Another public ferry (6 Bahts return) connects you nearer to Chinatown. For the adventurous, do visit the market directly beside the hotel for good authentic Thai food."
