I recently spent four nights with my family at the Mandarin Orchard and was delighted by the calibre of service and meticulous attention to detail. Nancy, our front desk receptionist started our experience delightfully. Having stayed and top hotels around the world Nancy is one of the most gracious and attentive receptionist I have had the privilege to meet. From our first contact I knew the quality of service we could expect. We stayed in two deluxe rooms in the Orchard Tower. They were meticulously clean and nicely appointed. The bathrooms have a unique feature which is a translucent print that brings light from the bedroom in during the day and is illuminated in the evening when the bathroom lights on on. The large flat screen television has a range of options for entertainment, dining and information after you move past the personalized welcome greeting. A nice touch is that it is volume limited which assures that adjacent rooms are not blasted with television sounds. A welcome consideration I wish other hotels would adopt. One of my personal criteria for a great hotel is the quality of the shower and bath and both are superb here. I love a strong shower and this was one of the best anywhere I have stayed. I chose the Mandarin Orchard primarily for its central location in the middle of Orchard Road across from Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City, Paragon and close to Somerset 313 and Somerset MRT with some of the best shopping in the world. This is a shoppers paradise but not for the faint of cash or credit! The location is enhanced by the 4 levels of shops, restaurants and boutique grocer to peruse and choose gourmet snacks and beverages. As with other top hotels dining is superb with many selections and pricey. We ate at Chatterbox for breakfast and Triple Three for the evening buffet which I most highly recommend as one of the best anywhere. Our experience was virtually flawless from check-in to check-out. Kudos for consistent excellence!

Pros. My parents and I stayed in Premium Queen with Bunk for 2 nights during 30 Dec to 1 Jan. After completed booking, I sent Yotel an email to request for high floor with nice illumination view. They arranged me the room on FL.26 with ION orchard view which had very nice illumination on the building and also the giant Pandora christmas tree. More than that, they also attached curtain on the glass wall at shower area since I told them that I had concern about its transparency. This was truly beyond my expectation! The hotel location is perfect. Only few steps from Royal Thai Embassy bus stop. (We preferred traveling by bus rather than MRT as we can see nice view of the city.) For MRT, in front of Shaw House, there are entrances/exits to underpass linking to MRT and many department stores around Orchard. Very convenient to travel around Singapore. All amenities provided in the room were pretty nice. Also, my father liked the bunk bed. It is strong enough for adult not just the kids. We all had nice sleep during 2-day staycation. Cons. As I stayed during peak season of New Year holiday, i thought the number of staffs were not enough to service the guests at Lobby. The most thing i felt bad was toilet in our room. The first night went very well. But on the second night, the water didn't drain into the pipe. So, the floor was flooded! BTW, asides from little cons, we had a great stay at Yotel. Will recommend to my friends. :)

At first I'm unsure to stay at this hotel because there's no extra bed options at agoda or their own website. You have to contact them directly after making a booking to booked the extra bed and pay them separately from you room booking. They provided a "handy phone" that you can bring everywhere in Singapore during you stay, to make local and international phone calls, browse the internet,etc The check in and out:is a breeze, just make sure you have all your occupants passports, and around 300 SGD or you CC for deposit. The room: enough room to move around for 3 adults. The beds and pillows are comfy. They provide kettle, refrigerator, flat tv, a docking station for an old ipod/iphone (should be updated to the new lightning though), 3 electrical sockets, bathrobes, and an ironing board with smoothing iron. The luggage rack is small and doesn't look sturdy enough to put our luggage on it,just open our luggage on the floor. The bathroom: is spacious. They provide bathtub and shower next to each other. There's a mounted vanity mirror and hairdryer. The amenities is standard but replaced everyday. The negatives are the see-through glass from the bathroom to the bedroom, even after we put on the blinds, we still got lights from around it, so the room is not as dark as we want it. The sound of the water drainage is a bit scary and the sink drainage is slow. The breakfast:is decent. No fancy or a huge varieties of food. The taste is ok. The varieties is almost the same everyday. Could be boring for long term staying. The housekeeping:is doing a great job at cleaning the room. Thanks a lot to the cleaning crews at the 9th floor from August 13 to 18 2015 who did a splendid job and ease our staying there. The best thing about this hotel is the location which is at the center of Orchard Road, just across Ngee Ann City, The Paragon, Mandarin Gallery. The only downside that we experience is the location of the lobby is at the 4th floor.

My family already twice staying in this hotel. Both of the experience of staying there are very impressive. The location of this hotel are easy to reach and near the main road in Singapore (orchard road), so it is very convenience for us which have a baby to stay there. The hotel lobby and the room are very clean and cozy. It is very convenience to stay in this hotel. The service is very outstanding, in example one of the room service officer can speak bahasa, so it is very comfortable for us which came from Indonesia to ask something. The only thing that need to improve is the function of the shower in the bathroom. When we stay in this hotel on Dec 2009, the shower did not work as expected, because it can't be adjusted and we think it's already broken. We suggest that the shower can be replaced not using the static shower but using handle shower. Finally, we like and enjoy stay in this hotel and will be our next choice of stay.

This hotel is in the best location if you want to be near Orchard Road. It was right in the middle of orchard road but slightly further back so its away from the noisy busy streets of orchard road. Right in front of the hotel is a great little side street which is open all day and all night serving fresh seafood, satay skewers, hainan chicken rice and a lot of other yummy things for a cheap price. The hotel was very clean, and our room was perfect. we were on the top floor so the room was very quiet. the hotel lobby staff were amazing also. We had the best stay there and would definately stay again.

We got 3 non-smoking rooms for a 6D-5N family holiday not knowing what was in store since this was a new hotel. It was hard looking for a hotel that was perfect for a family with kids and an infant and one which should be accessible, affordable and clean. Judging from most of the cheap hotels online it was a gamble to take this hotel since it didn't have much of feedback and most of the 3 star hotels around the area were given really horrible feedback. When we got to the hotel the lobby was clean and spacious and most importantly the staff were all smiles and friendly. But wait til we see the room since we specifically asked for non-smoking rooms. Guess what, it was bigger than expected and the tub was clean. Whew! The carpet and linen were clean, the bathrooms were spic and span and we even got hot water. Everything was in working condition and we even had a fridge and a safety deposit box. I'd say this is the best 3 star hotel I've seen so far and I'd go back there anytime.

For our first stay in Singapore, we decided to book an "affordable" five star hotel . We were not dissapointed at all. The room, a simple deluxe room (2 kingsize beds), is not very spacious, but large enough to accomodate the 3 of us (3 year old daughter sleeping in a sleeping tent). The staff is so helpfull, especialy Alice, the lady from housekeeping (thanks again for the teddybear!!!). Check in and out went very smoothly. The outside renovation works on the building are still in progress, as well as in the rest of the street, access to the hotel doesnt suffer too much... Not to miss is breakfast!!! Quite expensive , but one of the best we ever had. If you decide to take the breakfast during your whole stay, I think there is a discount possible Breakfast is from 06.00 till 10.00, but be prepare to queu for 5 or 10 minutes... One of the great things is the location of this hotel: 100 m from Orchard, THE shopping paradise and very near to the subway (MRT)."

I have read a few negative reviews on many websites after I booked it so it got me a bit worried. But I hate to stay in tall buildings when I travel so I still went with my gut instinct about this hotel. Besides, comparing to other 5 star hotels charging crazy prices, it seems fair I could pay less and even got a junior suite. When I saw the hotel in person, I absolutely loved it. Their staff was friendly when we checked in and my 3 kids just went wild when they saw the size of the room!!! The junior suite has two large washroom, a sitting area with 2 couches, and a big bedroom+ giant closet. Since the 5 of us just jammed up in Shang-rila Sentosa for 4 nights before, this room gave the kids great space to run around and play hide and seek!! There are reviews I read about unfriendly hotel staff and I really do not understand how they rate "unfriendly". When I went to the check in counter to complain about my key mal-functioned at the door entering the hotel room area, the staff not only made sure we could get pass the door, he accompanied me to my room too to make sure I had no problem with my own room door. The staff at morning buffet were also smiling all the time. It is also located in a busy area and just minutes walk to Orchard Road. The famous Clark Quay is about 10 min away by taxi and we paid around SGD 20 to get there. The only two things I don't like about the hotel is 1. the cakes are not as tasty as it looks (well, I think I make better cheese cake) and 2. the bed is soooo strong and hard that I actually pulled up the sheets to make sure there IS a mattress underneath. Other then that, it is a great hotel!

We stayed for 3 nights here. The location is very nice. Its 5mins walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station near Plaza Singapora. It has 7-11 shops available near by so u can get your break fast/snack anytime while on your way out or back to hotel. It has a neat swimming pool on roof top accessible by lift 1 only with an outstanding view of the vicinity. Recommend a panoramic photo from there. Hotel has two entrances, the other one opens towards the main Orchard Road, where you can find a number of malls like Orchard Point, Orchard Central, Ngee Ann city center, 313 Somerset, Apple Store. This road has multiple bus stops. Get yourself a 3-days Singapore Tourist Pass for unlimited trips to MRT & Public busses. Both have a/c so thats a relieve in 35C temp during the day. The hotel has a Tour Desk where as i suggest using Klook app to book at activities ranging from Universal Studio, Sentosa fun pass, Zoo, Night Safari, Gardens by the bay, bird sanctuary etc. This way you will not need to stand in ticket lines. Just book and show the online receipt to the gate keepers who will let you in :) do visit asian museum on Raffles stop, Fullerton road for Merlion. Good quality shopping is available at Bugis Junction (Bugis stop via MRT and exit towards Bugis Junction). Do not goto Little India, its very dirty and a mall there with the name of Al Mustafa Center (although cheap) but has terrible / poor quality products. You will be disappointed. Visit East Coast bay near Marina bays for a quite beach spot. Good for camping. On your way out to Airport, book a taxi via Grab Ap and it will cost you a max of $17 SGD till terminal 4 airport. Upon arrival, get a $15 SGD sim from Klook app It will give you 100GB worth 4G internet And free calls to last you easily 8-10 days even. Pick up point at Cheers store on level 2. Use mini bus to reach your hotel. It will cost you $SGD 9 per person with a travel time of 25-30mins. Booking stand is location at last level. They charge credit card and d

Booked the stay as a staycation. It links directly to Paragon shopping mall and there are plenty of food options around. Even then, it's tucked away from the bustle of the main Orchard Road so it's great. Managed to prep our own breakfast using the kitchenette. Only complain was that the kitchen ventilator wasn't working well and the entire place smelt of the food after cooking.

Had a weekend stay and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel and the room. Internet coverage and access was good and food in their mezza9 restaurant was of superb quality and taste! Hotel is located just outside of the main Orchard Road area making it less crowded and noisy. It took less than 5 mins to walk to the beginning of the Orchard Road belt where all the shopping centres and boutiques are located. Staff were friendly and warm upon check in and check out. They genuinely made me feel welcome. Truly a 5 star hotel as they claim it to be!

Our 4 nights stay with Orchard Hotel was great. We stayed at 2x Superior rooms as our boys stayed on the other room. The rooms were very clean and the beds were really cozy and comfortable to sleep in. The cleaner as we requested cleaned our rooms almost everyday. When we arrived the friendly Filipina staff, Mel checked us in and we requested that our 2 rooms be right next to each other. We got the requested rooms thanks to Mel. The following day I inquired with the Hotel's tour desk and we booked for our Sentosa, Night Safari and the Cheng Ho Dinner Cruise. On the times that we were not joining the local tours, we've been walking from our hotel down to Orchard Road. We basically entered most of the buildings and had been in and out of all the boutiques and high end shops. Gosh!!!! My leg hurts but it was a good excercise. During weekends we could see lot of Filipinos around Orchard Road. We tried taking the MRT experience going to Clark Quay to eat a crabby lunch at Jumbo Restaurant and then after a big meal we walked to Chinatown. The hotel's location was great. We just have to walk towards the road to start our trail going down to Orchard Road. On our last day we tried having lunch at the 2nd level Chinese Rest. They have a good selection of food there. Yum-cha's good too. Downstairs at the Cafe they have a very nice buffet lunch and dinner. I just looked on the food selections and they were nice too. We didn't try it, next time we will. Our overall experience with Orchard Hotel was an A plus. We will recommend to our family and friends to stay there when they visit Singapore. We like Singapore. It is so clean and quiet and feels so safe to travel around and very similar to our experience at Orchard Hotel. SEE YOU NEXT TIME IN ORCHARD HOTEL. All the best to all of you guys. As an academic I am in Singapore for 2-3 days perhaps 4-5 times annually. Singapore is generally expensive, but there are three places I would think to stay as what I would call acceptable Singapore budget hotels. The RELC is probably my favorite, based upon location near the upper end of Orchard Road. The only thing I would really criticize there is the breakfast. Skip it in favor of Starbucks or McDonalds 300 meters away on Orchard Road. The facilities are limited to what I would call Asian three star standard, but you can go next door to the Shangrila if you need a nice upscale meeting place, etc. (burgers at the top-floor Shangrila Blu Bar are tastiest in Singapore in my opinion, if expensive). My second most favorite is the Ft Canning Lodge, a YWCA affiliate closer to the Clarke Quay and Parliament neighborhood. The breakfast is acceptable there, but the laundromat facilities are not as good as RELC. My third most favorite, a step down and which I typically only book if RELC or the Ft Canning Lodge are unavailable, are a couple of backpackers' hostels on Hong Kong Street, which have a few private rooms with shared bathroom facilities. If cost is a concern the hostel rooms are cheaper, but the trade off is that the bathroom facilities are shared (and the laundromat facilities are also below RELC or the Ft Canning Lodge). Hong Kong Street is well placed close to Boat Quay and the Parliament areas. I think there are two of the different chain hostels on Hong Kong Street, running under different names, but both have a few private rooms.

My second time staying in Novotel. New hotel, near Orchard road, but away from the bustling of Orchard crowd. A few not so positive things to note : 1. I didn’t not request for an extra bed, but when I got to my room, there was an extra bed inside. I had booked the room for one pax only. 2. For a relatively new hotel, the drainage system is not very well maintained, shower room floods every time i used it 3. Lacking basic toiletries in shower cap, soap dish. 4. Aircon system of Food Exchange not maintained. Water dripping from ceiling, and heavy water marks can be seen around the aircon vent. 5. The hotel could have provided more information on shuttle bus service from T Galleria back to hotel, give the location of the pick up point at T Galleria. Other than that, it’s a cosy place, friendly staff, clean environment.

The room had everything we needed. It was spacious. The bathroom in the master bedroom was a little bit small for me and my parents. I had to stay in the master bedroom because there were only 2 single beds in the 2nd room. This is good for 4 persons at best unless the 5th person is willing to sleep in the sofa or, like me, in the master bedroom. They had an assortment of food in the kitchen. It was in a basket. Really useful as we ate some of it. There is no cleaning service on Sunday and they change beddings only every other day. Overall though, everything was in top shape, service was great. The place is super clean! The view from our hotel room was nice! The bus stop was a bit of a walk though. We took a taxi everytime we had to go out which, when added together, got expensive in the end.

I am a frequent traveller to Singapore but this is the first time I stayed in this hotel. Although the room size is not too big, it is just nice. The size of the room is bigger than expected. I still have enough space to put my luggage. The room looks exactly the same as the photos published in agoda. I have to compliment all the staff in this hotel including the staff at the receiption, breakfast area and Housekeeping. The staff are very helpful, friendly and I could see their good team cooperation. Keep it up! Although the variety of food served at the breakfast area is not a lot, the quality of the food is good. I love their coffee and hot chocolate machine. Due to the limited space at the breakfast area, Their breakfast time is extended to 11am. I will book this hotel again if the price is reasonable for the size of the room.

It was my first time travelling out of country so I made sure I'd get the best hotel with cheaper price, and so I decided to book with Agoda. Checking in was fast. I spent not longer than 5 minutes and we were good to go in to our room. Check in should be at 2pm but we were made to check in an hour earlier since the room was ready when we got there. The hotel us quite far from famous tourist attractions but there is a bus stop just across the hotel in front of Raffles Girls School. Also, you can take taxi just in front of the hotel entrance, or take a Grab ride. Rooms were quite small but really clean. If you are a tourist and you spend most of your time outside, you wouldn't really mind the room size. I had a great time staying there. If I go back to Singapore, I would choose to stay here again.

Though it was only a 1 night stay, I was extremely satisfied with my stay. When I reached the reception, there was no staff available to me immediately but they kept advising me to take my seat while assuring that they will attend to me shortly and true enough, it wasn't a long wait. Upon check in, I was personally shown to my room by the same receptionist and introduced to all the different functionalities of the gadgets within the room as well as an overall introduction of the swimming pool/gym facilities and its opening hours etc. During my booking, I had informed them that it was my anniversary and that I would like to request for early check in to decorate the room before my partner comes. They tried their best with the request and I was granted an early check in! Knowing that I was going to be driving in and out to execute the surprise, she provided me with spare parking coupons so I would not have to keep going back to reception to ask for it. Also, our room was decorated with a pair of love swan towels and a complimentary cake in courtesy of HFC for our anniversary. After the introduction, the staff even reminded me of the complimentary evening drinks that came together with my booking and where it was taking place. On the day of checkout, I tried my luck to see if I could get a late checkout so we could spend more time there. Again, my request was granted. Overall I must say I'm really satisfied with the sincerity and hospitality of all the hotel staff there. They are a fine example of excellent customer service and I will definitely come back for another stay. I also love the colonial touch of the building amidst all that greenery and I specially love the scent at the hotel lobby. If possible, I hope to know the concoction of that scent. Thank you HFC for making my anniversary such a perfect and memorable one. I will be back again!

happy to stay in singapore marriott hotel at ochard road. always stay at this best location hotel if i travel to singapore. i always recommended this marriott hotel to my friends. really good location for shopping and dining. pub is just around the corner. supermarket just at the basement. atm machines just in front of the hotel main entrance. taxi stand just in front of the main entrance and always priority for hotel guest. everything provided in this hotel, free wifi only available at hotel lobby but not in the room. but recent stay, they started to provide free wifi for hotel guest, unlike last time need to pay for it. really convenience for people like me, lazy to walk and everything you need it you can get it immediately. staffs are friendly and always with greetings and smiles (^~^) hotel food always slurrrrrrppppppsssss~ yummy~ of course will stay there again for my next singapore trip. keep it up!

when we booked in complimentary breakfast was given for the period of my stay, even though it was not included when i booked the room, also received free internet daily which i had no problems with. the room they gave us was two down from the pool on the top floor of the hotel which was great as my child spent a lot of time at the pool. excellent location, markets outside the hotel and a few minutes walk away from orchard road. loved the special touches in the room such as ipod docking station, lindt chocolates left by bed each night, turn down service in the evening, free safe in the room, free movie channel and selection of different pillows. rooms were very spacious and beds were comfortable. staff were very friendly not like other singapore hotels. i would return to this hotel again.

when we arrived at shangri-la we weren't really expecting anything too over the top as we had not heard much about the hotel or hotel chain before. the check-in service was fast and very smooth. we went to find the room but had a little trouble, so we asked one of the staff if he could help. he took us to our door and made sure everything was ok and if we needed anything. it was only after calling the reception to ask about the horizon club benifits and the location of the club lounge, that we found out our room was upgraded to valley wing deluxe. from the point we were made feel so special by the staff in the valley wing. the complimentary breakfast, the hor dourves and beverages are amazing. valley wing at shangri-la serve the best singapore sling, much better than any others i have tried. the rooms are very comfortable nice big bed, electronic everything, high-tech entertainment system, mood lighting and very clean. shangri-la has definatly taken the crown for best hotel in singapore in my books and that is out of alot of heavy hitting luxury hotels.

The location is the main part of my review. The locations is a bit far from the central orchard (takasimaya, paragon, etc) require about 3-5 minute walk via underpass to there. A bit far from me because the last time i stay in mandarin orchard (this hotel is centrally located). I think the room is a bit small compare to other hotel that i've been stayed in singapore. Other than that the service and staff are hilton standard, whiches a good one. One of the restaurant at the hotel are claimed one of the 50th best restaurant in the world by the brochure in the hotel. Oh by the way it doesn't have free wi-fi whiches disappointing and one time i take a shower the water heater is not working like it supposed to do (only slightly warm compare from the other time i used the shower)

Everything at The St Regis Singapore is perfect! It was a good breezy walk to the hotel from the Orchard MRT. It started off with wonderful receptionist (chinese male, wear specs) who gave us free upgrade to a twin room at a higher level! =) Not only that, there was complimentary fruit platter and birthday cake for all of us! =) The beds are comfortable and the TV has many channels. And there is a pillow menu. Their body pillow is amazingly comfortable! :) Please get them! But limited numbers. Only issue is their DVD library isn't that complete and the popular animation ones are usually snapped up fast. So either bring your own, or chope them quick. Wilbur, our personal butler, was all smiles when introducing the room stuffs to us. 6pm everyday, there is an art tour. The senior butler Prasad is quite interesting and very unassuming. His knowledge is good and he is very nice to help us take pictures. We had dinner at Brasserie Les Saveurs, taking their Semi-buffet dinner. Their Prime Rib is MAGNIFICENT! And if you are not a fan of medium rare, they can recook abit more for you as well. Wonderful service! Their semi buffet spread is really good!!!!!! Just try it urself! Breakfast spread is one of the best I have ever seen. And they have a special order menu for lobster omelette. Don't leave it out! Of course with their wonderful service, they extended checkout time to 2pm for us. All in all, nothing to complain, a MUST STAY!

We are locals and decided to take a 3 night getaway, attending a wedding dinner at the hotel on the 2nd night. We drove in on a Friday 30th Sept 2011 and checked out on Monday 3rd Oct - no problem getting complimentary parking coupons from the Concierge. Our request for a non-smoking quiet room on a higher floor was granted without fuss (1018). The room was decorated with warm colours and toiletries were "L'Occitane" products. This package came with an upgrade to the Deluxe room. We were very comfortable relaxing in the room which came with a study table and large screen TV, good supply of tea bags. A big bonus was the free internet service with came with the package. Bed was great for sleeping - nice big pillows. Its a good idea to give Housekeeping a call to make up the room when you go for breakfast. They attended to that efficiently. One thing that stood out for us at the Regent was the friendliness of the staff. A far cry from a 6 Star hotel down the road which is often cold and impersonal. So the smiles and pleasant service at The Regent truly made us very welcome. - The efficiency of the breakfast staff in clearing the plates on our table was very good. Staff Lin Chang stood out in this area - very sharp and quick. The breakfast spread served the best French Toast we have ever tasted (but it rotates with waffles & pancake on diff days - the french toast was served on Sat). Unfortunately our request for the French Toast the next day could not be met. Also the baked bacon (tad salty but tender) and honey ham was very nicely done. They served japanese rice & miso soup - but it was rather strange and didnt make sense for many of the condiments and pickles to be placed at another station near the fruits. Most of us wouldnt know there were other condiments for the rice. The Regent has managed to create a warm and welcoming ambience for us - most refreshing compared to many other hotels here. Most definitely recommend this hotel.

I have never been so in love in a hotel than this one. I booked this for a staycation and I appreciated Singapore more than ever. Every curve of the room has a purpose and the contours of the garden and the patio were perfect. I am definitely a fan of the outdoor toilet!!! I cant get over it so much I had to book another night! I got an upgraded room and I fell in love all over again. (standard to reading room) I love the natural lighting at the reading room and the outdoorish toilet is to die for. I have posted the photos on my social media accounts and recommend it to all my friends and family and strangers! lol. It was sooo nice that I had to show it to a local Interior designer friend, and she agreed on my obsession with the place. And the staff were so lovely. We saw one outside and she was all smiles at us! We also asked to check out the skyroom for future bookings, and we were gladly toured around. Highly recommended overall!! :)

Stayed 12 days at 8 and was not dissapointed, comfortable big bed, roomy modern furnished apartments which were very very clean. The location to Orchard road and station was a major plus and came in handy for easy access to other parts of the island. Upon arrival the check in process is quick and efficient and the friendliness of the staff was nothing short of amazing. The only one thing that I feel let the experience down was the Breakfast, resonably limited and some of the hot options did not go so well with each other, things like scrambled eggs were not cooked overly well. All in all I would rate this a strong 4 star establishment, not 5.... I would definitely stay here again and thank the team at 8 on Claymore for a very comfortable stay

My son loved it so much coz he said it has three big beds..very big space to run around the room and a very nice shower room. We loved our free breakfast buffet..the food was great..they have many choices of food..from bread to cereal to rice.. The best of all, we experienced here the best customer service especially from their manager on duty last september 15..she really helped us recover our stroller and bag left inside the trunk of the taxi..she made all the follow ups and calls to the taxi company.. I would gladly stay at the Fort Canning Lodge for every Singapore visit! If your idea of a hotel is where you can live like royalty and have your every whim catered to, the FCL is not for you. But if you're a seasoned traveller who requires a clean, well-managed hotel for not too many dollars then the FCL is perfect. This is the hotel for those who have to pay for their stay themselves and want to be practical, yet want a very good level of service and amenities. My room (junior suite on the 12th floor) was decent-sized, had a great bathroom, came with a room safe with electronic keypad, and had a decent refrigerator and TV. Tap water is safe to drink. Security is good with magnetic keycard access to rooms and elevators. There's a fair-sized swimming pool on the 3rd floor that's open until 9pm, great for relaxing those tired muscles after a hot day out walking. The restaurant offers a hearty buffet breakfast, and there are internet booths at the lobby. Staff is helpful and well-trained and requests for extra pillows and towels and such are met in minutes. The building itself is not very new nor cutting edge in architecture, but I didn't need that anyway, but maintenance and upgrading is good. I loved the view out my window, Fort Canning hill with the towers of the central business district out beyond. Location is fantastic. It's at the very start of Orchard Road, with Little India to the north, Kampong Glam to the east, Marina to the south east, and the River and Chinatown to the south. It's of course situated in the beautiful colonial district, with the terrific National Museum and Museum of Art just a few minutes walk away. The all-important Dhoby Ghaut station is a quick walk through the Park Mall beside the hotel, and when the new Circle Line is completed, this will be the most strategic of Singapore's stations, with all four lines passing through it. You can be in just about any place in Singapore in a few minutes, from the hotel's central location.

I visit Singapore every year, and I often spend at least a couple of nights at the Parade. The hotel is a solid 4 star hotels. Good service, good rooms, and a very inviting pool. In places as hot as Singapore, knowing that there is a nice pool waiting for you after a long day of walking/shopping/sightseeing is always a plus. The superior (standard) rooms are a hit/miss. Some of them are dark, specially the ones below the 8th floor. The executive rooms are a bit more expensive, but very bright and elegant. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is right at the junction of Orchard Rd and Taglin Rd. This is the most expensive area of the city, with great houses, embassies, streets lined with century-old trees, and the beautiful Botanic Garden near by. And all of Orchard Road best shops and malls read to take your cash.
