Hotels near Federation Square

Booked a night stay here to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. Have to really thank Pan Pac for going the extra mile to making it so memorable. 1stly - the view! Amazing view of the river day & night, room was so spacious, clean and comfy as well 2ndly - not only did they prepared a beautifully decorated cake for my best friend, they gave us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine as well with a card! 3rdly - informed us that we can get half price parking at dfo at $24 instead of parking with the hotel at $49. It’s also conveniently located just beside DFO for shopping and eating. It’s a pity we only had 1 night booked, will definitely come back again!

Overall, the hotel is very basic but the location and price makes it a great value!!! It is located adjacent to the Southern Cross train station, the convention center, casino and the Telstra Dome. Additionally, a short walk to Flinders street and Federation Square. The main asset of this hotel is the employees. From the front desk to the people who clean the rooms. They are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The room was very basic. The bed and furniture were old but comfortable. The bathroom had everything I need. I would recommend changing the shades from the window and putting a curtain. The only negative I can say is that the area were I was located was under construction so there was dust in the common area. The breakfast was included but was very basic. There is room for improvement here. Overall, I would recommend the hotel for solo travelers and travelers in a budget.

I was welcomed to the hotel by the very helpful and friendly staff. Handled my luggages and car effectively and even arranged my rented car to be send back to Hertz! The room and bed is very comfortable and the hotel interior is lovely. Good location and less than 5 minutes walk to the bars and restaurants. Less than 10 minutes walk to Federation square and casino. The staffs are very attentive and helpful. Highly recommended this hotel!

The only complaint I would have is that on our last day there were at least 50 people standing at the entrance of the hotel and 7 extremely loud cars coming through. I wouldn't have minded except I got knocked into and our taxi to the airport was struggling to get through the crowds of people. I'm sure this isn't a regular day but maybe not the best location for sports cars...other than that, 5 stars!

skybus from the airport to southern cross station is very convenient, and the hotel is just opposite the train station (5 minute walk) with many convenience stores around the area. the hotel room is nice and tidy, although some may find it small, i think the bed is comfortable and the room is always clean and tidy. i spend most of the time traveling and only coma back to the hotel late night, so it's great for me to have a clean and comfortable room near to city center. it's great value for money since it is still walking distance to city center (10-15 minutes walk) and you will pass by lots of great tourist attraction along the way (aquarium, casino and tarra river nearby, federations square etc).the free city circle tram (number 35 tram) stop just opposite the hotel and you can take this free tram for a city day tour. parliament house has guided tour as well and it's informative to have a peak inside. thursday, friday and saturday is late night shopping, so shops close later and i can hang around at the city center and walk back in midnight, it is safe to walk back to the hotel and the staffs are extremely friendly and helpful! i will definitely stay at this hotel for my next visit since it is great value for money!

2nd Citadines visit after Paris. Booked Citadines on Bourke Melbourne on 19-23 August. Check in was a breeze, got the room at 10am. Booked a 1 bedroom apartment for my family of 3. Daughter took the sofabed. Location was great. Tram stop just outside the hotel. Food aplenty within walking distance. Tang Food Emporium just 5 minutes walk. 10 minutes walk to Federation Square, Melbourne Central & major shopping area. Staff very helpful & friendly. Will definitely choose Citadines again.

The staff was very nice, location is really great, short walking distance to bourke st mall and federation square, room is very clean with comfy bed. The only small downside is we have to change lift twice to go to our room with long walk, as property has 2 connecting building, if the other building has ground floor with entry and exit access that will be great. Overall we are happy and satisfied with our stay!

We celebrated a debutante ball at the Grand Hyatt and my husband and I decided to stay on premises for the night. Our check in and out was speedy and professional. The room was impeccable and yet had a homely feel. We were lucky enough to be given a room on level 33 which faced South providing an amazing view across Federation Square with glimpses of the bay. Our only disappointment was the cocktail bar downstairs had stopped serving food by the time we arrived there after midnight. Highly recommended to others.

This hotel has linkway to Crown Metropol, Casino. Stayed in Deluxe King. Being 5 stars, luxury is the best way to describe. Hotel room is big & spacious. Clean upon 1st day of check in. Bathroom is beautiful & as the picture advertise. TV in front of the bathtub. Bed is big & comfy with nice ipod alarm clock. TV shows most channels. Comes with table top for me to do my work & a " lookout " glass balcony that has 'sofa" seat that overlooks the yarra river & the fireball show at night. Great view! Cons: 1st day morning, the room service lady kept knocking a few times to clean the room although we told her to wait. We were 'pressurize' to leave the room just for her to clean. We are furnished only 1 toothpaste set per day although we are checked in as 2pax. Bathroom amenities was not replenished regulary & neatly. Its as if the room service lady was in a rush. Bath robes are forgotten on the 2nd day & we needed to request for it. The ice tub container was also not cleared. These are small issues, but being a 5 star hotel, we have expected them to be more attentive to these small little things. Most of the times, these are immediate issues that will leave lasting impressions of the hotel. Carpark is not complimentary, & charges AUD $50 for valet parking for 1 day.

After reading mixed reviews, I wasn't really sure to book the hotel, but I took my chances. My room was really clean and tidy. Bed sheets were clean. Has Kitchenette which has microwave, utensils, coffee machine, coffee and tea provided with milk, cutlery, glasses, mini refrigerator with freezer, and any other amenities. Includes towels and bathroom amenities. Wall plugs are not international, so you would need international travel adapter for Australia. Has a mini Balcony to stand. Split ductless Air Conditioner worked great with remote provided. Very Close to queen Victoria market just 5-7 minutes walk for all your shopping needs (including wide variety of Souvenirs) and cheap and delicious food including fresh fruit and vegetables. It falls in the free Tram Zone. Just a quick 5 minute walk from the tram stop. Computer table along with ample of closet space including mulitiple shelfs, iron and ironing table. Restroom has shower with instant hot water. Hair Dryer also provided.

My husband and I had a pleasant stay at the Grand Mercure. It is conveniently located at the corner of Swanston and Little Bourke. Federation Square, Southgate, Chinatown, the shopping areas are all within comfortable walking distance. The hotel itself is modern and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a standard double room that has a comfy queen bed and is very spacious.

Extremely clean, modern Hotel, with stylish decor and fabulous views to the city & Yarra River. Excellent location, within walking distance to everything, Casino, Federation Square,fabulous restaurants, Southbank, Docklands, Night Clubs, Shopping, Theatre, The Arts, & most sporting venues. Minutes walking distance to all forms of public transport, trams, trains & buses & taxis.

Exceeded my expectations, easy access to airport, fast check in, room cleaned daily but never saw the housekeeping!! Right opposite chinatown for cheap but fabulous food. Lots of nearby alleyway hidden trendy bars. Close to sights e.g Melbourne Museum, also close walk to Federation Square or MCG. Highly recommend Café 222 for cheap but nice breakfast and great service. Also take a walk to the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens.

We had a 2 week stay in Melbourne, spent in various parts of the state. The last 2 nights we stayed at Tune Hotel. We had previously stayed at another city hotel (4.5 star) mid holiday and I would have to say Tune Hotel was a much better stay. Clean, modern and all you needed to spend time exploring the city. Location was excellent, trams at your door step, or a 5-10 min stroll into the city. Yes you only get a towel per day, and the room lacks a few hotel mod-cons. But these simply are luxuries one really doesn't need, especially if you haven't come to spend time sitting in a room. I would definitely stay at Tune again, the staff were super friendly, the room rate was very good and it's a great base/location for exploring the city and its inner suburbs. Probably the 1 negative was the bed, not the best for my back, but as it was only a 2 night stay, I wasn't too concerned. The mattress tended to dip in the middle.

If you like cooking, Cube Serviced Apartment is suitable for you. It is not far away from Queen Victoria Market (15 mins on foot), Woolworth at QV Center (10 mins on foot). We bought fresh food from QV market and made simple but delicious dinner at the apartment. With the dishwasher in the room, we didn't need to worry about the work of dishwashing. Its location is very convenience if you like to do your sightseeing on foot: 8 mins to State Library and Swatson Street, 3 mins to free City Circle Tramway station, 20 mins to Finder Stations and Federation Square.

The location of this hotel make an easy access to everywhere. Tram station is only opposite of this hotel and you can reach Flinder St. Station by few minutes walking. This hotel is ideal for young people like us. We just walk to Eureka Skydek, Yarra River and Federation Square. To find halal food is also got no problem by walking. We rented a car there and easy to find parking in CBD plus during night until early morning parking is free and most importantly it is safe. This hotel also provide a pantry for you to prepare you own food. Like us, we cooked instant noodles, toast bread and hot drinks before bed since most halal restaurant close early at 9:00 PM! Overall,we enjoyed our stay at iBis and most important its cheap!cheap!cheap!
