We stayed for 13 nights in this charming little hotel. It was Sir Robert Bristow’s house right on the seafront and by far the best situated in Fort Kochi. The feel of the place is colonial, the staff fantastic, the food phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble and the chef Rehman, will adjust the dishes and spices to your palate if necessary. He can often be seen checking that the food is to your liking.The dining area faces the sea at the harbour entrance and dolphins leap before you in the sea whilst you take breakfast. Raghavan and his team look after you well in the restaurant. The beds are enormous four posters with firm mattresses the ensuite bathrooms very roomy with amazing soap.The hotel has 2 drivers who will take you on trips if you so desire.This is not a modern concrete tower hotel, this one oozes history, relaxation and charm.We had a brilliant time. Many thanks to you all😁 A difficult holiday to beat!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days and found it perfect for slowing down and savouring the start of our holiday! It was spacious, charming and quirky. The old-school charm was evident in its furnishings and displays, and we loved the high ceilings which allowed us to dream and relax. The manager was hospitable and welcoming indeed. And the location was near my favourite places in fort kochi -- artsy cafes near the princess street area such as Kashi Art cafe, Farmer's Cafe (this is a MUST-VISIT for its food ) and others u will discover simply by wandering around on a lazy afternoon.

We were the first visitors staying in the Fragrant Nature and it was amazing. We chose the hotel by chance to be closer to the Synagogue and Dutch Palace tourist attractions of Mattancherry and to be close to the lively Fort Kochi centre but not in the hustle and bustle. The Hotel is new and you can see so much thought went into the design. You enter into a large lobby that gives the look of a stylish and luxurious top class international hotel chain but with about 40 rooms you get the touch of a friendly and homely boutique hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious (great shower but no bath). Having the rooftop pool and cafe to chill out, is a bonus that will make this hotel the best spot in Kochi. There is something special about the staff. The young, casual, personal and friendly approach really made the stay enjoyable.

This place was exceptional! They made sure that I was completely comfortable and provided me with delicious treats (cookies and chocolates made at their very own bakery across the way) on a daily basis. Food is the way to one's heart and they clearly understand this! The restaurant was exquisite-Chef Shivji and his team are amazing. Each night I had a meal there and could not bring myself to go somewhere else-it was that good! It's easy walking access to everything in Fort Kochi. If you don't want to walk, there are TukTuks right out front that are eager to take you where ever you want/need to go. The art in the hotel and the rooms is beautiful. It's like being in a museum and a hotel all at once. If you are traveling to Fort Kochi, this is a must!

I have nothing to complain even how hard I try to think of something. The hotel, the staffs, pool, facilities are simply superb. Worth every penny. Choices for breakfast is limited but the food was extremely delicious. I tried almost all options they had on menu. Room is beautiful, pool is small but perfect for a quiet getaway. Its at a beautiful spot in Fort Kochi. The only drawback was that, the city seems far away... far far away and it takes 45 mins to an hour to reach via ferry or by road. Its a must stay place. Simply the best that I have ever stayed in Kerala!

What a beautiful, colonial property with black and white marble floors, gorgeous staircases and comfortable rooms. Centrally located in the heart of Fort Kochi and within easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Downside...many bedrooms need to have curtains drawn all the time as there is a new property built up against it. In the evening the large dining room is virtually empty as people find cheaper places to eat.

For a Budgeted Traveller : Best place to stay in Kochi. For the price i paid for a room was the best deal in my trip. I booked Starndard Double Bedroom Suite for 1250/- per night. My Stay was for 3 nights. Its a service apartment - 3 star hotel, located in a Residential Area, So dont expect an amazing view from your Window. Safe and comfortable. The reception staff was hospitable and the property manager Mr Ravi was very helpful. Ample space for covered Car parking Lift facility The place is active at night till 11 pm with all shops/restaurants opened. If you want to enjoy clubbing, there is a place called 'CLUB 18 Degree at Hotel no.18'.Its hardly 1 km from Phil's. Overall a very good experience and would recommend the place.

This is a small, boutique style hotel in the backstreets of Mattancherry, Fort Kochi. It is a few minutes walks from the interesting tourist/craft shops and a tuk tuk ride (or longer walk) to the Chinese Fishing Nets of Fort Koch where there are also good restaurants, cafes and spice shops. The hotel is exceptionally clean, with efficient and friendly staff. Breakfast is simple but adequate with good tea and coffee. Wi-Fi is good in the lobby, a bit weaker in the rooms. A pleasant and interesting stay for a few nights. Try visiting the town commercial dhobi (laundry), a fascinating and unusual place to visit.

This is a beautiful hotel tucked away on a typically dusty Kochi road. The hotel is a converted old spice warehouse and it's in an amazing spot to explore the cultural highlights of Fort Kochi. The food is lovely and we looked forward to the tasty breakfast each morning and enjoying the views across the picturesque harbour. This is a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Kochi life on the streets outside. Our host Kaplana, arranged a local tour guide to show us the cultural delights of Kochi. Kaplana also arranged a theatre night out and tuk-tuk and taxi for our onward journey so everything was made amazingly easy for us to enjoy our time in Kochi.

Prime location for all your sightseeing and food needs. Beyond Fort Kochi, Kochi really doesn't have much else to offer. Pepper Route is located on a smaller street off of KB Jacob Road (intersection right before hitting Bellar Rd/beach), near the cultural center. Because it's off the main road, it's actually quiet at night. The bed had a real mattress (many hotels in India will only provide thick memory foam w/o a mattress), which wasn't super comfy but enough to provide a good sleep. Pillow was super fluffy. Since it opened in 2012, the room was still very clean. Bathroom had a shower curtain (rare in India) and hot water whenever you needed it (you will need to let it run a while before you get hot water though). The AC was fancy and fully functioning, definitely get a room with AC since it's extremely hot even in December. Good variety of TV channels including movies, BBC, CNN, TLC and the Discovery channel. Good amount of space and number of outlets. Wifi is only available in the lobby and very limited, so better to use their computer provided to guests. It is a bed and breakfast and breakfast was complimentary, but we never tried it so I can't attest to that. Hotel staff was courteous and friendly.

We simply loved this place. A great find just a 3 min walk to the famous Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi. The hotel is well preserved and charming and even though it is in a busy location, the hotel exudes quiet. The room (superior ground level) was large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable (including the bed). What makes this property so special is the staff. Every person without exception treated us like favorite family members. Breakfast (included in our room rate) was delicious (the masala dosa a must have) but the dinners - wow! The food was fantastic (curries, fresh fish, veg dishes) and so inexpensive (they can easily raise the price and no one would blink an eye) so we ate here 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This is by far the best place to stay in the area. I recommend it highly and without reservation.

It is a small hotel located in the bottom of the island. Located on a second road, its very suitable emplacement allows you to be in the centre of the city but without the unpleasant noise of the tuk-tuk preventing you from taking a nice siesta. The hotel has no swimingpool but you can use the Koder House one for free as well as to book a nice masage with a 10% discount if you are staying in the fort manor. It does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner but we certainly enjoyed trying all the restaurants close to the hotel (most of the hotels are located in the same place and are at a walkable distance). Breakfast was nice although it is not buffet. It is composed by natural juice/ cutted fruit, coffee / milk, toasts and eggs / omelette. Simple but really nice. The rooms were spacious, very, very clean and everything is new (the hotel was open only 7 months before we stayed -December 2012). We would recommend this hotel to any couple of family staying for a few days in Fort Cochin. It's a real value for money.

Extremly disappointing! No internet, not in Fort Kochi !, sink broken, no hot water, took literally 30 minutes to get the restaurant make a coffee (we were the only guests, 9 am), very smelly (urin) bathroom, and TV had regular blackouts. The postcode of this place seems to be "fort cochi" but even their own flyers describe fort cochi as being 4km far away . Very disappointing, we left directly and only started for one night as we arrived late at night.

I was traveling to Fort Kochi with a friend for a short stay enroute to a wedding. Hotel Arches is a beautiful, quaint, and well-maintained hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by warm and friendly staff with a welcome drink. Our room was clean, and bathroom spotless. The AC and fan worked, though the power generator occasionally went off for a minute or two (but this was the norm in a lot of other buildings I was in in that area. Nonetheless, I gave Facilities only 4 stars for this but it's only a slight annoyance that subsequently became endearing). On our last day in Fort Kochi, we had a late night flight. The hotel staff let us check-out way past our check-out time and allowed us the use of the restaurant bathroom, and hotel lounge. They tried in every way to make us comfortable. They also helped arrange our taxis to and from the hotel. Everything ran smoothly. The location of Hotel Arches is AWESOME. It's only steps away from streets after streets of hipster cafes, craft stores, and the beach. The hotel restaurant has excellent food, I think better than many of the restaurants in the area. I tried the breakfast masala and plain dosas (not listed on menu but available), Kerala chicken curry, Kerala fish curry, and the special Kerala fish grill wrapped in banana leave. All of them were delicious, and made with very high quality ingredients (chicken breast meat and chunky thick fish fillets were used). Although the weather was crappy when I was in Fort Kochi, the hospitality of the staff of Hotel Arches and the charm of the architecture made our stay an extremely pleasant one.

We absolutely loved our stay at Fort Castle. The hotel is run by a family and the manager is a lovely man, always with a smile on his face and often a child on his arm, who would always make an effort to help us out if we needed it. We had some problems getting in contact with our travel agency when we arrived and the manager came up with ideas of how to find them when the phone number we were given didn't work and went through a lot of effort to track down the people - at the same time as he was helping other guests that had lost their luggage or had other problems! The rooms were clean and the AC worked well (though no hot showers but it was ok as it is very warm in Kochi anyway and the water was not freezing cold), and there is free wifi in the reception, which also reaches some of the rooms. The location is great, on a quiet street but still in the heart of Fort Kochi, so only 50 m to restaurants, shopping and sights! For a mid-range hotel I think it is great, and I would recommend it anytime and if I ever go back to Kochi, this is where I would stay again!

This was a great spot to explore Fort Kochi. The building is a very historic former Dutch Hospital. The AC in the room made it very comfortable in the India heat. The walls are very thick making WiFi reception difficult on the room. The lower floor rooms have ceilings that are beautiful old wood but they amplify any footsteps from the room above. We had a persistent walker at all hours of the night requiring ear-plugs to get any rest. Breakfast was a wonderful fruit plate and eggs cooked to order. It would have been nice to have a Kerala breakfast option though.

I traveled alone to fort Kochi. I was late to check in and staffs were helpful. But the facility was not as expected. 1. The door of the room could not be closed from outside and you push a little and the door opens. 2. It supposed to have TV but the cable connection was not there. The staff in charge in the night could not help. 3. The light was very dim. Other facilities, like bathroom, A.C. water etc were good.
