"Early check-in. Comfortable beds. No noise (twin room on Floor 7). Excellent receptionist. Modern shower facilities (without a platform, but with a tightly-closing glass door separating the shower area from the rest of the bathroom). Huge mirrors. Two armchairs and a simple chair in front of a desk - in a twin room! Fine location: 15 min of leisurely walking to the RR terminal (never believe those sportsmen telling you about 3 min:))). Tokman clothes and food store nearby, at the corner. Budget buffet meals in the nearby metro station (c. 10 euro), - various cuisines. No a/c. High thresholds on the floor for you to stumble over every time you go the bathroom and back:)) On weekdays, the breakfast is till 9.30 :((( - simple, but sufficient. And their buffet lunch is only till 2pm..."

"Room was fabulously spacious. But had a strange odour in the bathroom. Rather off putting. Bed was very very comfortable We had problem booking with Agoda, initially tariff quoted in AUD but on paying this same figure was in Euros. In previous experience this figure would have been converted to Euros. And therefore maintaining the same value as advertised. We also had problems paying in advance because I could not receive payment advice on an Apple computer. Overall, great location and we love Helsinki "

The cathedral was built between 1830 and 1852, and it was originally called St. Nicholas' Church. It was later renamed Helsinki Cathedral when Finland gained its independence from Russia in 1917. One of the most interesting facts about Helsinki Cathedral is that it was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, a German architect who never actually visited Finland. Engel created the design based on drawings and descriptions of the site, which was previously occupied by a smaller church.
