We stayed at KSL Resort Hotel from 30/8/2012 till 4/9/2012 via agoda.com. As soon as we touched down our foot outside the lobby area, one of the concierges (Malay boy) approached us, greeted us and helped us all the way till we reached our room. We had a good conversation along the way and yes, it was a good start, indeed. Location-wise: Shopping Mall is just beneath our hotel with lots of shops available and the anchor shop is TESCO where you can buy all goods with lots of varieties. Holiday Plaza is visible from KSL which is around 5 minutes walk. Buses from KSL to JB Sentral (City) are easy accessible outside the lobby and it only costs us RM$1.50 one way but if you wish to use taxi, it only costs RM$6.90 one way. Dining Experience: The buffet breakfast was outstanding with great variety and unique and the most delicious dish that intrigued me the most was the lamb curry + Nasi Lemak sambal (Local dishes). A MUST try meal. However, the first night we had our dinner there, we were asked to order from the ala carte menus which was fine. But, we had to wait an hour for our foods (3 out of 4 dishes) to arrive (with no other customers dine-in at that time), again it was fine. Then, I saw one of the waiters went forth and back into the kitchen and eventually came to me informing that their chef has made an error when cooking my simple chicken rice so they persuaded me to choose another food. I gave up since it was almost mid-night as I needed a good night rest. In order to cover up my hunger, I shared food with my nephew’s infusion smoked burger (One of the best, thick and juicy burger stuffed with unique ingredients).

I had 3 nights staying there while waiting for my new working visa process. As I requested for earlier, the reception staff checked in me to double bed in highest floor for deluxe room category(13th) without delay. The room looks a little bit old overall has quite well maintained facilities like water pressure or air conditioning and clean too. It was simply enough to make my staying pleasant and comfortable. Every each staffs are polite, well mannered and smile all the time. Only there are few things that I would feedback is about the chemical they use for swimming pool as my white shirt (I had always worn with my swim suit without problem) turned light blue exactly same color with pool. I personally called Duty manager to inform and it was cleaned by their housekeeping as complimentary. Second is about gym, there are only two treadmills but both are out of service whole duration of my staying. Alternatively I used bicycle and other equipment as I had no choice. Other than that, all the shopping mall and JB Sentral, CIQ are walking distance by short-cut behind the hotel. Also when you arrived at JB as out of immigration clearance, you can find out the inter-connection to JB Sentral and City square. Once reached the 1st floor in City square, come out door by MC donald and you can see the hotel building cross road behind some small shops, then you will get to know how to go by short-cut naturally :) that's how I saved taxi fare from CIQ to hotel and Hotel to CIQ.

Although I booked a standard room, however, all the standard rooms were smoking rooms, only the deluxe rooms were non-smoking. Since we opted for a non-smoking option, the receptionist gave us a free upgrade to a deluxe room inclusive of a bathtub and 2 queen-sized beds. (: It was a 5 minute walk to KSL city mall, and maybe a 15 minutes bus ride from JB sentral and city square mall. there is a bus from KSL city mall to city square charged at a flat rate of RM 1.50 .very pleasant stay. Boyfriend loved the breakfast buffet, however I felt the variety could have been broader. the fridge wasn't working though, but nevertheless, pleasant pleasant stay (:

This is certainly a great-value-for-money hotel! It's a pedestrian lane away from Komtar JBCC. JB City Square is a 3- to 5-minute walk away. It's also near the JB Old Town, which is home to the century-old bakery, Hiap Joo. Not to mention, if you're coming from Singapore, this hotel is a must option if you plan to stay for a night or two. The JB CIQ and JB Sentral Bus Station are just within the vicinity. Five stars for all categories except for facilities as my wife and I didn't get to roam around the hotel premises. Finally, there's a 7-Eleven downstairs (see: Jalan Trus entrance/exit).

having stayed in about 3 other hotels in jb city, i must say new york hotel is really best so far. rooms are nicely decorated, clean and cosy. bed is nice. breakfast buffet spread is quite good with local cuisine as well as western. previous hotels i stayed merely had just rice and noodles for breakfast. pricing is quite affordable for the standard. location is good as it is really near to ksl city mall and not too far off city square. parking is complimentary up to 2 parking tickets per room at least for my triple delux room, not certain for the others.

This hotel is little out of the way from JB major shopping centre. But, if you looking for good service, helpful staff, tranquil environment, to relax your body, mind and soul, then this is the place.Facilities is good and well maintained. I swam at the pool and use the gym in the morning during my stay and really enjoy it. Especially,I like to highlight that the bed is very comfortable to sleep. The room I booked was strait view, and overlooking hotel pool, some greenery. I and my family love it! Beside, the hotel also provide complimentary shuttle to Legoland, city square. This provide convenient for guests. Buffet spread for breakfast is okay only as compare with Sunway Pyramid hotel which provide much more variety, and tastier food.I hope the hotel could improve on this area.Overall, the hotel has a lovely environment, good hospitality. I certainly recommended this hotel to anyone who like have a short stay at JB. If Thistle continue keep it up this well managed hotel, I believe guest will keep coming back. Unlike other hotel in JB, first few year when start, good normally, but subsequently the hotel start running down hill. Thumb up for Thistle! My family and I enjoy the stay there. Will come back again :)

A lot of people misunderstood the hotel star rating. Hotel star rating just base on what amenity is offered by the hotel. Meaning as long as the hotel offer these amenities it still count as part of their stars. Mutiara is no doubt a 5star hotel, it have all the 5star requirement box ticked, starting with their 24hr front desk and room service. I must say their staffs are very efficient. The check-in is smooth and quick. Later, I call for them to bring us extra towels and bathrobe, which they did promptly. On our second night I ask them if we can loan a wine opener and few minutes later their staff came and even help us open our wine. The room itself is a bit small compared to other 5star hotel in Malaysia but it is clean, well equipped and cozy. The bed is comfortable with a lot of soft pillows. We had a good sleep at night. No noise at all and the temperature control are good. They have a full mini bar although its not complimentary and the price is 5 time more expensive. We got a room on the fourth floor facing the housing area. Not much of a view. The bathroom got a complete set of towels and accessories although bath and shower are not separated. Although Mutiara have a fine selection of restaurant, we only have the time to try Capri, their Italian café and we had a very nice dinner here. As for surrounding area, its next to Holiday Plaza and walking distance to KSL City. Theres also a very nice day spa right across the hotel. Overall mutiara for me is a bit old, but still the best hotel in JB. Two thumps up.

My partner and I had a truly great experience at the hotel. The service staff, from front desk to housekeeping, exhibited exemplary five star service. Having stayed in many hotels in JB I can say with great certainty that doubletree is setting new standards for the hospitality industry in JB. I hope this hotel doesn't suffer the same fate as the other hotels in JB that will eventually lapse and diminish in service and upkeep over time. But for now, I have high hopes for this establishment. The only flaw I can think of is how the housekeeping missed out on replenishing tissues in my bathroom. Other than that I want to highlight that the front door team is impeccable in their dedication the work. They are the warmest group among all the departments, ready to offer help and directions. The public bathrooms on the ground floor were also easily one of the best bathrooms in JB, smelling of essential oils and sparklingly clean.

This place almost makes up for the hassle of crossing the border into Malaysia. It can also be confusing to navigate to since there is no direct way to cross the two blocks and two busy streets. From JB Sentral use the pedestrian bridge across Jalan Tun Abdul Razak to the Old Town White Coffee then go thru the Komtor mall and down to ground level at Jalan Wong An Fook. Cross the street at the pedestrian crosswalk and enter the Zenith passageway just beyond and to the right of Morganfields. Go up the escalator and out the door by the Toast Box. Turn right and you're there.

There is an E&Y indian muslim restaurant about 5minutes walk, and 7-11 next to hotel. Quiet surrounding area at night. Recommended stay for moveable travelers.

The Good: 10 minute walk from JB Sentral; Nice view to Singapore, though there is construction across the road. Very good breakfast buffet with a wide range of hot and cold foods. The doormen were incredibly helpful and polite. Also, the Indian restaurant at the hotel is very good. The Bad: For me, this is not a 5-star property. At best, this is a 4-star property. There was no iron in the room, the safe was only big enough for small items up to the size of an iPad, and the carpets were stained. Unfortunately, there was a total power blackout at the hotel when we were there. This meant that all guests were transferred to the Berjaya Hotel. While this was a much better hotel, it is much further away from JB Sentral, where I needed to be very early in the morning, as I was travelling to Singapore. Another power blackout occurred on the day of our departure. I was disappointed in the hotel management's response to this, in that no-one called me to advise that I had to vacate the property.

I picked this hotel as I wanted to be close to the JB Sentral railway station that was across the road. The price was very good and the room clean but small and didn't look as good as the photos on the web site. The TV was the largest I have seen in a hotel room. The room was clean and so was the bathroom with a rain shower. The staff were friendly and helpful, always with a smile and a greeting. The hotel is sadly located in a very rough area but a security officer is on duty at night at the door. There is a 7eleven next door with many hawker stalls and coffee shop around so food is not a problem.

This property is located in an exceptionally good location near a couple of well run local malls right next to the Causeway that links Malaysia with the City State of Singapore. For public transport users, the location is very tough to top being very close to JB Sentral Railway Station and Bus Depot. For KTM Shuttle train users, the hotel is 5-10 mins on foot to the Custom, Immigration and Quarantine House where a traveler has to go first, before doubling back to the station to catch the train without passing through the CIQ wickets. Despite having a breakfast that would be best described as bizarre, the staff, facilities and overall condition of the hotel warrant a possible repeat visit in the future despite the somewhat dicey area that is common around most major transport hubs.

For a short stay-over in JB, Crystal Crown Hotel met most of my needs. I've read reviews that criticized the hotel rooms for being run-down and dirty, but I did not encounter such a room during my stay. I booked a Twin room. It was spacious and was great value for money. The bathroom was also big and clean enough. Breakfast was a plus and the staff were quick in clearing the tables so that all the guests could have their meals. The hotel is a 5-10mins walk from KSL city. My only complaint would be about the unreliable WIFI. This is my 2nd stay at Crystal Crown Hotel and I also faced problems with the WIFI, especially late at night and for the most part of the morning. If the WIFI issue can be fixed, this hotel will be my ideal choice for a stay in JB Sentral.

The room is big with 1 king bed and 2 super single beds. Filtered water is just outside our room and it is very convenient to make milk for my kid. The only disadvantage is that there is no cafe in the hotel at night. Only room service. Luckily, there is a night hawker centre just behind the hotel. Nice food there. It is also a walking distance to KSL, thus it is easy for us to take the bus back to JB Sentral.

I made this booking very hurriedly as I wanted to be closer to JB Sentral to get morning train for Kuala Lumpore. However, on reaching the hotel, I found that there can not be a better deal than this. It was an excellent value for money. The location was excellent - at a walkable distance from JB Sentral Railway Station and JB City Centre. The view from room was excellent - one can view Singapore on the other side of the river. Very spacious, well cleaned and well stocked rooms. One may not find better than this as compared to the cost we paid. The only issue we had is that they are not having anything to eat for the vegetarians. May be the menu may have been prepared for local citizens. Overall an excellent experience and I will recommend this hotel to any one visiting that place.

the hotel is located with a shopping complex. it is also in a duty free area but the price of chocolates is not cheap. virtually all food outlets including the supermarket there closes at 10.00 pm. however, abundant food choice are avaialable a short walk outside the hotel. going to singapore is not a problem. one can take a bus there at only rm1.30 to jb sentral and the journey takes about 10 mins. alternatively one can take a taxi ti jb sentral and that would be around rm10-12. hotel staff are polite and friendly. however, at night, there is singing seession and the music is quite loud.

We're checking in late after our visit to Legoland. It took them only less than 5 minutes to check us in and then we're served with a welcome drink. The hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance to Pelangi Plaza, or you can take a cab which is to cost about RM5 to JB Sentral from the hotel. It's only about 30mins driving from the hotel to Legoland. Besides that, the receptionists are awesome and they have tried their best to meet our requests. Their service is beyond my expectation of a budget hotel. I will for sure return to this hotel again if I again to visit JB again!

JB is the armpit of Malaysia, and the City's unpleasant and run-down hotel scene does reflect this perfectly. Hard to believe therefore, that such a hidden gem still can be found. The Grand Jade is located not far from the CIQ and JB Sentral, towards the sea. From the JB Sentral Bus station, where the airport Express stops, it is about 7-8 minutes walk. I discovered it while sitting on the said Bus a week earlier, and after several nasty experiences in the downtown-area, I luckily decided to give the Grand Jade a try. The rooms, which are obviosuly all different in size and design, are tastefully decorated with quality-hardwood-furniture. the mattress is excellent, not too soft, but as well not hard as concrete. the bathroom is very small (at least in my room), and the sink is inside the actual room, but that did not bother me. they give you design-toiletries (hand-made designer-soap!!!), and they give you a small basket with snacks for free - quality snacks, no rubbish: 2 packs of expensive Marigold Multi-fruit-juice, 100% juice, no sugar added. Cookies with no preservatives added. The big flat-screen TV has Astro with several (though not too many) English and Chinese channels. Sadly, there is no fridge in the room, this is the one big let-down, particularly as there is no convenience store around where you could just drop by and buy a cold drink or whatever. Kettle, coffee/tea, Hairdryer is provided. some rooms obviously do not have a window, but mine had. I would not have accepted a windowless room for that price. the problem with the location is, that there is a lot of street noise right outside, and even though the windows are good and of high standard, they can not block all the street noise. But nevertheless, this was a very positive stay, and if I am unlucky enough that I have to stay in JB again in the future, this small hotel will be my first consideration for sure. these people actually understand the meaning of hospitality - they deserve your business !

good location for both visiting singapore, as you are close to ciq and visiting johor bahru. to find the place from ciq (immigration)go down the escalator toward jalan abdul razak and walk up the hill under the raised road until you see a left turn....this is the hotel road. johur bahru is a paradise city for me as it seems that beer and curry are available everywhere anytime. very friendly staff, extremely clean, free internet, shops and cafe/restaurants very close if you don't want to cross through jb sentral to the main city and english premier league shown in restaurant opposite. excellent bed if you are in the mood for vigerous pumping activities.

We were having a one day activity in Singapore and needed a place to stay. Singapore is not an option since the accommodation there are expensive. We were looking for a budget priced hotel with a few requirements such as king sized bed, fair sized room and also a swimming pool for my kids. And must be near JB Sentral as we will take the train back to KL. Suria City Hotel fits the bill. Location of the hotel is just about 10-15 (about 500 meters) minutes walk under the flyover from JB Sentral & CIQ Complex. We stayed in the main building, there's another block which is called the North Wing (old building not sure how the rooms were). The view from 7th floor was nice, overlooking Selat Tebrau and the Causeway. The room and toilet is clean, decent sized and sejadah is provided. Breakfast was ok with varieties to choose from. The pool is located at the North Wing, just walk through a doorway beside the lifts to the North Wing situated behind the main building, just a few steps away. The pool is small, no lifeguards but enough for my kids to have a nice time. Overall we're happy and satisfied with our stay. Will stay again in the future.

I spent 30 (thirty) days at this hotel and I felt like home. Very polite and helpfull staff. Taking a taxi is a matter of walking about 100m to a main road and wait for no longer than three minutes and a free taxi will drive by :). About 4-500 m is Danga City Mall with UO store. The KSL bus has a stop next to the mall and costs one MYR to CIQ and JB Sentral. Taxi cost less than 10 MYR. The hotel was refurbished and has new tiles in the rooms and bathrooms which is very clean. After nine days at Grand Bluewave Hotel ***** (ultra noisy air conditioner and neighbour rooms with direct view at me in bed) and 31 days at Berjaya Waterfront **** (changed four times the room due to no hot water or air conditioned) I found Golden Court the best value for money by far. The included breakfast is very handy.

good location. t hotel is near the jb sentral. and in that time ... a.... woman staff help me. that time i had a mistake. i paid twice on the internet agoda. a.. woman staff told me this fact. (when i stayed there, i could not use phone freely, because of high payment roaming service) the staff correct my wrong contract...directly. and paid back my money. . very nice and kind,, good .. woman. i stayed no window room. it's soso if you don't mind no window. but if you want to stay window room. there are many window room. room condition is good. in my opinion, you choose only, window,or not(window is better than not... you can view jb city road.. there are big window..) thank you sincerely your kindness.

A good hotel at an excellent location. Centrally located. Quiet location except for the occasional locomotive sound. Grab fare roughly: Larkin Sentral RM8. UTC JB RM8.00 JB Sentral RM7.00 KSL Resort RM8.00 For the hotel rate you pay, this hotel is very good. Hot water shower, toothbrush, coffee making facility, LCD TV and dressing/writing table. Best rate will be when you book through Agoda. Beautiful stay.
