We stayed for 13 nights in this charming little hotel. It was Sir Robert Bristow’s house right on the seafront and by far the best situated in Fort Kochi. The feel of the place is colonial, the staff fantastic, the food phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble and the chef Rehman, will adjust the dishes and spices to your palate if necessary. He can often be seen checking that the food is to your liking.The dining area faces the sea at the harbour entrance and dolphins leap before you in the sea whilst you take breakfast. Raghavan and his team look after you well in the restaurant. The beds are enormous four posters with firm mattresses the ensuite bathrooms very roomy with amazing soap.The hotel has 2 drivers who will take you on trips if you so desire.This is not a modern concrete tower hotel, this one oozes history, relaxation and charm.We had a brilliant time. Many thanks to you all😁 A difficult holiday to beat!

My wife, my daughter and I stayed at the Fragrant Nature for three nights (two rooms, two separate stays) during a recent visit to Kochi. The hotel exceeded our expectations in all respects: room size, quality and cleanliness; location; service level; restaurant & food. They were very accommodating to all special request we made, including flexibility with our check-out time and getting tickets for us for a local performance (Kathakali). The rooms were of generous size and very well equipped. There was also a very nice gym with cardio and weight equipment. The restaurant offered very good and freshly prepared foods (local as well as int'l items) and the breakfast buffet had a great selection of Indian as well as Western foods. The staff was outstanding in terms of clarifying food items we were unfamiliar with and helping select the right things (thank you, Vishnu). One example: While we were in our car driving in from Kochi airport, the hotel called the driver and asked if there was anything we needed as the kitchen was about to close (22:00h). The location is ideal for exploring the sites in Ft. Kochi. An ATM is located next door and friendly TucTuc's are usually standing by to provide local transportation. The hotel did not have an alcohol license when were stayed there, but it did not matter to us as we usually do not drink much wine or beer. But we were told a license would be obtained very soon and they are already organizing the bar, so this will probably change in the next few weeks. We will come back for sure to the Fragrant Nature when we return to Kochi

I loved everything about Tissa's, walking distance to everything as its central, five minutes from Kathakali, ten minutes from beach and fishing nets, and half an hour to Jew Town (although you might rather get a tuktuk if it's very hot!). The rooms are spacious, bathrooms super-clean and modern, and the lighting good, which is not the case in some Indian hotels. The rooftop is a wonderful place to sit and read with pretty pool. The staff are really six star, nothing is too much trouble, and the restaurant first class. Highly recommended.

I loved the structure and design of the hotel. It is small, compact and thus, personalised. It actually felt like living in one of the old Kerala houses rather than a hotel. The location of the hotel is the best. Most of the Fort Kochi sites are all within walking distances and some accessible with auto- rickshaw. The front office gave me a walking map which was very helpful. The rooms were all very well done, bathrooms very clean and modern. The toiletries in the bathroom were of very high quality. I really enjoyed the classical music in the evenings. However, I must add the service in the restaurant is a tab bit slow and can be improved.

I have nothing to complain even how hard I try to think of something. The hotel, the staffs, pool, facilities are simply superb. Worth every penny. Choices for breakfast is limited but the food was extremely delicious. I tried almost all options they had on menu. Room is beautiful, pool is small but perfect for a quiet getaway. Its at a beautiful spot in Fort Kochi. The only drawback was that, the city seems far away... far far away and it takes 45 mins to an hour to reach via ferry or by road. Its a must stay place. Simply the best that I have ever stayed in Kerala!

Our last night in Kerala. We booked a deluxe room. The hotel has character being about 200 yrs old and a former court House. Everything is nice about the hotel. The room, bathroom. The best part of the hotel were it's staff - terrific. But we did not realise the hotel lacked the following: 1. No views. The windows are blocked by a wall. Therefore black out curtains present rather than windows with a view. Very claustrophobic. The staff were very good enough to move us to a higher floor that had a partial blocked view. 2. No spa or Ayurveda in house. 3. No alcohol or bar In my view all the above are requirements of a good hotel. I think the hotel should be honest and inform bookers of its restrictions.

First visit to Kerala; this was my first hotel and it was an excellent choice. Welcoming, helpful Staff, very comfortable good quality room and facilities. Food was delicious. The property was thoughtfully designed, faultlessly clean and in a quiet location. Musicians' played on traditional instruments in the evening in the courtyard which was a lovely touch. A place to visit again.

For a Budgeted Traveller : Best place to stay in Kochi. For the price i paid for a room was the best deal in my trip. I booked Starndard Double Bedroom Suite for 1250/- per night. My Stay was for 3 nights. Its a service apartment - 3 star hotel, located in a Residential Area, So dont expect an amazing view from your Window. Safe and comfortable. The reception staff was hospitable and the property manager Mr Ravi was very helpful. Ample space for covered Car parking Lift facility The place is active at night till 11 pm with all shops/restaurants opened. If you want to enjoy clubbing, there is a place called 'CLUB 18 Degree at Hotel no.18'.Its hardly 1 km from Phil's. Overall a very good experience and would recommend the place.

It is a nice hotel with warm and accommodating staff situated within walking distance to shops, seaside and beautiful Santacruz Basillica. We stayed for 3 nights and had a late flight the next day. They allowed us to stay on till 7pm which was ever so kind. The room was spacious and clean. Staff were polite and go out of their way to help...Tina Gomez the Front Office Manager in particular is a star.....helpful N with a smile always. We were happy indeed and would definitely return and stay here. Good coffee in café!

My wife and I had a great stay at Daffodils and would stay there again. This is a brand new, small hotel with modern rooms that were well appointed and clean. We visited during the hot season and the air conditioning was strong and reliable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, happy to offer tours, arrange airport transport, and recommend a nearby restaurant. The hotel is located right off the main strip in Jew Town and has easy access to restaurants, shopping, and transport into Fort Cochi (about five minutes by Tuk Tuk for 40-50 rupees). Continental breakfast at the hotel was fresh and delicious, and Indian breakfast at Ganesh's Restaurant around the corner is also an included option and was excellent.

Our first stop in Kerala the hotel was very welcoming. Syama in particular is very efficient. She organised a taxi for us from the airport and made sure we had everything we needed whilst staying at the hotel. A great location to explore the fort. Shame there is no alcohol licence it would make a lovely setting for dinner and a couple of beers. The restaurant, food and staff are all lovely but very quiet as most travelers prefer to find a restaurant with a license. Overall would definitely recommend.

The hotel has a beautiful and simple design with its outlook and interior design, I am very impressive with it. The staff are very friendly, the receptionist Mr. Arun is very friendly, helpful and nice. Annie and the old gentleman at the front door are also very friendly and nice. The breakfast was great and the room was clean and comfortable as well. The location of the hotel is very convenient to near local restaurants, shops, Kathakali dance centre etc. The speed of wifi was good in lobby. I will come to stay again when I go to Fort Kochi in future.

The hotel didnt have a lift, but the bellboy carried up the luggage for us. I was a bit taken aback about not having a lift but the hotel was only 3 floors and the staircase was wide and well lit. The room and bathroom were quite modern, clean spacious. The staff gave us pointers on how to spend our time visiting Cochin. Thanks to their advice, we saw how Kathakali dancers have their face painted, and we watched a very interesting cultural show at the cultural village near the hotel. Overall, a good stay.

We simply loved this place. A great find just a 3 min walk to the famous Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi. The hotel is well preserved and charming and even though it is in a busy location, the hotel exudes quiet. The room (superior ground level) was large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable (including the bed). What makes this property so special is the staff. Every person without exception treated us like favorite family members. Breakfast (included in our room rate) was delicious (the masala dosa a must have) but the dinners - wow! The food was fantastic (curries, fresh fish, veg dishes) and so inexpensive (they can easily raise the price and no one would blink an eye) so we ate here 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This is by far the best place to stay in the area. I recommend it highly and without reservation.

It is a small hotel located in the bottom of the island. Located on a second road, its very suitable emplacement allows you to be in the centre of the city but without the unpleasant noise of the tuk-tuk preventing you from taking a nice siesta. The hotel has no swimingpool but you can use the Koder House one for free as well as to book a nice masage with a 10% discount if you are staying in the fort manor. It does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner but we certainly enjoyed trying all the restaurants close to the hotel (most of the hotels are located in the same place and are at a walkable distance). Breakfast was nice although it is not buffet. It is composed by natural juice/ cutted fruit, coffee / milk, toasts and eggs / omelette. Simple but really nice. The rooms were spacious, very, very clean and everything is new (the hotel was open only 7 months before we stayed -December 2012). We would recommend this hotel to any couple of family staying for a few days in Fort Cochin. It's a real value for money.

a good hotel called abad hotel! a large room, very clean with a huge comfortable bed – clean sheets and towels. the bathroom was ‘tired’ but clean, wet room style with shower curtain and plenty of hot water at all times. good aircon and a fridge. you can purchase wifi for use in your room. breakfast was eggs, pineapple juice, ceriel, tea/coffee – the usual! the staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. this hotel is not actually in fort cochin but a good half hour walk – lots of life to see and enjoy on the way – to the spice area – great to breathe in the aromas on the way and a tuktuk ride to the chinese cantolevered fishing nets and main restaurant area. ) each way. we didn’t see any restaurants around the hotel area but the hotel has a nice one – and for the price of the rooms it is fine to get a tuktuk into the main part. we would recommend this hotel, we enjoyed our four nights there. try and see the show just down the road from the fishing nets on the right – a traditional show and unintentionally funny!

I was traveling to Fort Kochi with a friend for a short stay enroute to a wedding. Hotel Arches is a beautiful, quaint, and well-maintained hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by warm and friendly staff with a welcome drink. Our room was clean, and bathroom spotless. The AC and fan worked, though the power generator occasionally went off for a minute or two (but this was the norm in a lot of other buildings I was in in that area. Nonetheless, I gave Facilities only 4 stars for this but it's only a slight annoyance that subsequently became endearing). On our last day in Fort Kochi, we had a late night flight. The hotel staff let us check-out way past our check-out time and allowed us the use of the restaurant bathroom, and hotel lounge. They tried in every way to make us comfortable. They also helped arrange our taxis to and from the hotel. Everything ran smoothly. The location of Hotel Arches is AWESOME. It's only steps away from streets after streets of hipster cafes, craft stores, and the beach. The hotel restaurant has excellent food, I think better than many of the restaurants in the area. I tried the breakfast masala and plain dosas (not listed on menu but available), Kerala chicken curry, Kerala fish curry, and the special Kerala fish grill wrapped in banana leave. All of them were delicious, and made with very high quality ingredients (chicken breast meat and chunky thick fish fillets were used). Although the weather was crappy when I was in Fort Kochi, the hospitality of the staff of Hotel Arches and the charm of the architecture made our stay an extremely pleasant one.

we stayed at this hotel for one night as part of our kerala trip. this is not really like other hotels that we have stayed in kerala. the hotel still gives the feelings of the colonial past. the decoration and the furniture’s are kind of unique and not found in other hotels. if you are fond of historical past then you will like this place. if you are looking for a modern hotel then this is not the hotel for you. the front desk is nothing but a desk and couple chairs but the people are friendly. they allocated a large room for us. the bathroom was nice as well. the breakfast was served in the lawn. i wish the quantity of the breakfast was slightly better. we like big breakfast which keeps us going for the day. please be aware there are mosquitoes in the lawn. which is the only thing disturb our peace. the hotel is ideally located near sightseeing places. if you like fish then there is a fish market near the seaside where you can buy your choice of fish and the local restaurants will cook the fishes for you.

If you do not get a cheap price for the room through Agoda do not go there - The rooms would be totally overpriced if you get the room on site or if you are moved from a better accomodation to this hotel ! I booked a superior room into Bright Heritage Hotel, When I arrived there I got told it was full and they told me to be moved into Hotel Park Avenue in the same room category.The booking in Bright Heritage included refrigerator, TV, water heater, king size bed or 2 single beds. These items were all missing in Park Avenue. The next day I got told that I get the money for Bright Heritage refunded and I asked how much the room costs : The price was the same as for Bright Heritage except np fridge, no TV, single bed. I checked Agoda and found out the room price of Agoda was about 1/3. They told me the Agoda room type ( there the description fits the advertised costs ) is not existing in their hotel. After discussing for about 1 hour they agreed, if I make a booking through Agoda I can get the room for the Agoda price. Unfortunately theire Internet access in the evening is so slow that one has problems entering most sites and, in addition, Yahoo collapsed too this evening. So it took me about 5 hours to get everything sorted out. The windows were near the street lighting. There was no possibility to get room dark in the night. I asked if they could do something about it, they said yes but did not do anything about it. Due to this I had sleepless nights. If they would have asked immediately the price offered at Agoda and returned the difference of the Bright Heritage I would have given them 5*. But due to not refunding the difference by themselves and not helping to sort this problem out and advertising non-existing rooms types at AGODA I would give them only 1*. The only 2 good things about the Hotel were : It was relatively clean and at the end they accepted the price advertised at Agoda. Otherwise the room would have been totally overpriced.

We absolutely loved our stay at Fort Castle. The hotel is run by a family and the manager is a lovely man, always with a smile on his face and often a child on his arm, who would always make an effort to help us out if we needed it. We had some problems getting in contact with our travel agency when we arrived and the manager came up with ideas of how to find them when the phone number we were given didn't work and went through a lot of effort to track down the people - at the same time as he was helping other guests that had lost their luggage or had other problems! The rooms were clean and the AC worked well (though no hot showers but it was ok as it is very warm in Kochi anyway and the water was not freezing cold), and there is free wifi in the reception, which also reaches some of the rooms. The location is great, on a quiet street but still in the heart of Fort Kochi, so only 50 m to restaurants, shopping and sights! For a mid-range hotel I think it is great, and I would recommend it anytime and if I ever go back to Kochi, this is where I would stay again!
