Though I have no idea what possessed me to go to Yilan, I found Kavalan an amazing hotel to stay at. The staff were very helpful from the start, helping us with directions and even tried to help us carry our ridiculously overweight baggage to a holding area for us. The staff were also readily there to provide us the hotel bikes and even though they said that after a certain time there would be a per hour charge, when we came back about an hour or so later than the stipulated time, they didn't bother charging us a cent. In fact, thought he bike I used broke down, when we got back, they were extremely apologetic for the bike and offered us free locals goodies for the trouble we went through. So overall, while I have no idea why anyone in the right mind would ever want to come to Yilan to look at the boring scenery and cycle through a dead town, if you ever find yourself here, Kavalan Hotel is the best place to go. Hands down.

Location is fantastic. Located across the street from the front of Luodong train station (back is the bus station). Just 3mins away, super convenient. There are tourist bus that brings you around Yilan from the bus station. Hive hotel is on the right side when you face the road (with the train station behind you). Just after a bubble tea shop called MILK SHOP. Rooms are clean & nice as per pictured. Enough space to open up three 28" luggages comfortably. Love the Loccitane toiletries, snacks & drinks provided! My booking included daily bfast. Quality food & drinks provided, with 3 choices available (they don't change their menu daily tho). There are also many eateries around the area & Luodong night market is nearby (less than 10mins away). Turn right out of hotel, turn left when you see the 1st traffic light, walk on then turn right after the next traffic light you see. Use Google map to navigate. Staff are all very friendly. Highly recommend Hive!

I upgraded to the executive suite thanks to the promotion by agoda, and it was the best decision made! The room was quite big, the washroom was HUGE! The hotel provides a pack of bubble liquid soup for you to enjoy your soak in the enormous tub. However, it will be better to provide a few more packets of the bubble liquid soap as there are multiple people staying in the suite. Hotel staff was helpful but not too friendly. We were having difficulties with our room as the card censor was faulty, and was unable to detect our card being inserted in, thus there were no electricity in our room. The ladies at the reception was nice enough to provide us an extra card to insert into the card censor. Breakfast was ok and simple, mostly were Chinese dishes (which personally is not to my preference). Location was near the Luo Dong night market, about 5-6mins walk. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. Stayed here for 2 nights.

good interior decoration, warm and cosy layout and lighting. helpful staff who tries her best to help us get around and visit attractions. free parking if you are driving. hotel is ok distance from railway station, not too far but needs 10 min of your time. quick 10 min walk to the luo dong night market, which is good. however, convenience stores are located some distance away, hence its not exactly convenient to get down and buy a late night instant noodles... note that jin hua hotel is located on floor 7 and 8 of a building, hence look out for a high signboard when you get near and dont expect a lobby right on the ground floor.

We stayed for a night in this hotel. Location wise is excellent as it is 3 min walk away from the Luodong Railway Station and around 8 min walk to Luodong Night Market. We traveled with a rental car and they have a small car park on site that operated on a first come first served basis. Although the hotel is not the most modern, the room is spacious and extremely clean. Breakfast was hearty with a decent selection of food. I particularly enjoyed the soup and the soy bean drink.

The Kapok Hotel and Resort is immaculately and offers beautifully furnished rooms with all the essential amenities. Breakfast is delicious with both Taiwanese and western style food. The hotel is located near the popular Luodong market. The best part about this hotel is the incredibly helpful service. For example, while checking in, the manager on duty, Ms. Ally noticed my sister was coughing and immediately offered hot tea or hot water for her cold. I’ve traveled the world, stayed in many fine hotels but have never experienced such personal attention! Thank you, Ms. Ally. A big surprise to our visit to Luodong was the the exquisite dinner (seven course and prix fixe for about US$30) prepared by Kapok Hotel’s Chef Adnaan who had received his culinary training from a Michelin rated chef in England. Chef Adnaan designed the seven course menu to gradually increase the intensity of Indian flavors with each course. No heavy curry sauce during our entire meal. Everything was light but very flavorful. We started out with a delicate amuse bouche of passion fruit infused yogurt, followed by thin Indian bread topped with salsa and yogurt dip, then a perfectly balanced chicken soup with a hint of coconut milk and cilantro, then a simple broiled salmon and scallop dish and finally the main entree of filet of the freshest small yellowfin tuna, served on a bed of lentils sauce with enough Indian spices to balance the richness of the tuna. The tuna was served with rice, roasted peppers and a special local string beans sauté with a hint of garlic. Everything was cooked to perfection. We ended the meal with homemade ice cream (with cardamon and saffron flavor) and puff pastry filled with carrot/coconut milk puree. It was indeed an exquisite meal. Although it was unexpectedly far from the main station into Lotung and a 15-20 minutes walk to night market, this hotel made up for the distance by having a lovely night views. You can choose to face the 'city' view or the park view. As we went over the New Year celebration, our city view room came with a lovely surprise of seeing the fireworks over many of the smaller townships around Lotung. So even though we were not in Taipei for the glamourous 101 fireworks, we had a lovely quiet night looking out over the quaint towns and their little homely celebrations. We took the 16th floor if I remember right. The hotel has a pretty ok breakfast spread, nearby there are some mom-and-pop neighbourhood food stalls by foot for meals that are more homely and local. There are bicycles you can borrow for a cycle through the town park which is absolutely beautiful and huge! Do that! We had a New Year's eve evening cycle/jog before dinner and it was very romantic.

"Glory" hotel does not live up to its name. It is older, not as attractive in aesthetics, but it more than makes up for it in terms of location and basic price. Not the absolute cheapest place, but still within the bargain range. It is a mere 5 minute walk from the nightmarket, the forestry park (if you want some nature to walk around in), and the train station. Therefore, it makes a convenient base of operations while hopping from place to place. Breakfast was listed as not included, but ended up being included after all (although not too tasty,,,). For the price, it is a decent option.

I stayed for two nights in June, and was very pleased with the time I spent there. The hotel is situated 15 minutes away from Luodong Train Station, and just 5 minutes away from Luodong Night Market. There is a small 7-11 in the proximity of the hotel, so in case of need, food a drinks can be bought there. The hotel is not new, but clean and tidy. It's run by a Taiwanese family, very welcoming and nice people (their English is very limited though, so it's better if you can communicate Chinese on a basic level). There's a reception downstairs and a couple of rooms upstairs, which are each equipped with standard beds, TV, air-conditioning and nice bathroom. The room and the furniture are clean, beds comfortable. Rooms are cleaned daily. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the hotel again. I recommend it to all fellow travelers and backpackers. :-)

The stay at Guo Chen Hotel is enjoyable as it is near to the places of interest around Luodong. The hotel is also next to the famous Luodong Night Market as well as the town shopping district. A upon reaching the hotel, the staff was very welcoming and immediately points to us the places of interest around the area without us even asking. The only downside was us not staying long enough in Luodong to cover the places which the staffs highlighted to us.

Everything was great . Only minus point is that there's no lift to upper level . Imagine carrying up to level 3( highest level) with heavy luggages. But staff was kind enough to offer help to carry all luggages up for us ( 3adults 1 kid, with 2 big heavy luggages, 2 small cabin size luggages n a big bag) . Quiet n safe surrounding . Will definitely book n stay at Inn next trip .
