If you want to stay in one of the best hotels on offer in Bangkok you need to stay here. From the moment you are greeted, you know this is going to be something special, the staff are so attentive you can't fail to relax. As soon as you exit you taxi you are made to feel special, the staff are sincere when they say welcome. You enter the hotel and the opulence and splendour of the hotel hits you, breathtaking. Once booked in you are escorted to your room. Everything is explained to you by one of the beautiful receptionist, our butler was then introduced to us and then your left to look around. You have a balcony which looks over the river (I wouldn't want to swim in it) and Bangkok city. The room is beautiful, the non-alcoholic drinks in your mini-bar are free and endless. Obviously if you want an alcoholic drink they are readily available. The bathroom has a full bath, separate shower, bidet, toilet and sink. Soaps, creams, shower gel, shampoo, shower cap, toothbrush, toothpaste etc. etc. all available at no cost. The bed is super king in size and comfortable with it - 5 Star. The drapes are power driven at a touch of a button, the mood of the room can be arranged by the various lights available. His & Her bathrobes, plus matching slippers hang in the cupboard at your convenience. One criticism - there isn't sufficient drawer space for two people to use, The complimentary breakfast is ample as is the afternoon tea and canopies, followed by evening cocktails. Two pools are on offer for the residents of the Shangri-La Krungthep Wing, complimentary non alcoholic drinks are available throughout the day by the Krungthep Wing pool. You can choose to lounge around the Main pool if you wish, but the only free beverage here is water. However this is where the sun is shinning for most of the day (Obviously not if it's raining) Whereas the Krungthep Wing pool is shaded and has pockets of sunshine throughout the day. What can I say - This is place the place to stay!

I've stayed at 5-star hotels on several continents, often costing two or three times as much, but none has come close to the attention to detail, the personal kindness, or concern for guests' well-being on display. When my wife needed a nurse to attend to an infection, the manager of the hotel himself accompanied her to our room, made arrangements for us to go to a nearby hospital, and called on our return to be sure that she had received effective treatment. In the magnificent rooftop bar overlooking the city and the barge- and cruise-boat traffic on a wide bend of the Chao Praya River, it quickly became apparent that all the staff knew your name, and anticipated your every wish. The rooftop restaurant was pricey, but the food was as close to heavenly as it gets. And if you wanted something more mundane, the cluster of restaurants around the hotel pier could muster up a meal to suit every taste. It's the best of both worlds in this self-enclosed resort at the heat of a great city.

If you can live with a lengthy commute, this is an excellent choice that will please the most discerning traveller. In fact, when I told the airport taxi people I was going to the Chatrium, they all said the thai equivalent of "Wow! Great hotel!" Here are the details: From Bangkok International, the Chatrium is a 45 minutes; a flat rate of 500 baht. It's 30 minutes to Don Muang Airport (about 300 baht). The hotel is the THIRD building down Chatrium Alley. The alley is broad, safe, well illuminated and patrolled by security policeman. This hotel is NOT brand-new and is a multi-use building. The hotel public facilities are on floors 1-6, then there are residences or other restricted areas (offices perhaps) up to floor 16, and then there are 20 floors of hotel rooms. There also is a concierge lounge and an excellent Chinese-style restaurant on the 36th floor. Everything works perfectly. The rooms are generously-sized and mine had a small kitchen. The bathroom was large, with separate shower and bath. Water pressure was fine and the WIFI was very speedy although slightly unreliable. Every room has a balcony. The hotel has a marvelous restaurant on the ground floor. At breakfast they serve an excellent buffet. The restaurant has an open-air patio, so you can enjoy a glass of wine and watch the boats on the river, watch Jupiter set behind a thunderstorm, and watch people talking and laughing under the stars. The best part of this hotel is the staff: skilled, polite, dedicated, well-trained and interesting. This entire hotel is filled with these customer-service dragons. My congratulations to the Chatrium for finding such talented people. So this is a fine facility, slightly away from the central city but still very accessible. The food is fine, the rooms are great and the staff is over the top. I paid about US$90 a night — exceedingly fair for the value received.

This hotel is the best place we have stayed in Bangkok ( and we have covered the town and most of the 5 stars). While it is not a 5 star the location is perfect as it is away from the "madness of the city" (which we love) but need an escape from time to time. The hotel is a short water taxi ride from the main stop on the skytrain line. The decor is most relaxing and the pool is amazing! The restaurants are very good and the buffet breakfast is super! If you want the best of both worlds in Bangkok....this is the place! We will not stay at any other hotel!

This hotel was AMAZING, the best hotel experience I've ever had. We booked this for a 30th birthday celebration and specifically wanted this hotel mainly for the rooftop bar/restaurant and the incredible balconies. I had seen this on the Hangover movie and I'd spent months stalking them on instagram and by the time we came to depart I was worried that I had built it up too much and it was going to be a let down. I was SO wrong. From the second we stepped out of the car on arrival we were treated like VIP's, the staff were so incredibly lovely, they went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time, they sent me a total of THREE birthday cakes in our 5 day stay, and one of them was brought to us at our dinner at sirocco by about 5 staff all enthusiastically singing happy birthday. The location is perfect, the views are some of the best I've ever seen (upgrade to tower club river view TRUST ME) and the staff are ALL incredible. We would never stay any where else in Bangkok!

This hotel is something difficult to describe. The hotel is amazing, really really beautiful, 5 stars and plus, but mmmm, for Bangkok really can be better. We book a club room and was ok, I mean, is 5 stars and all amazing you want, but the club is not the best in town, the room is not the best in town, the location is not too good, and is not cheap specially the restaurants and bar in roof, but you can say “yes, is amazing anyway”. Like I say, is difficult to explain, is good but not enough for the price, that’s the point. Anyway if find a good price & promotion, will come back yes or yes, but if too expensive, I will choose another. Also, the hotel should have different elevators for hotel guests and visitors to the sky bar. In night is almost impossible to take the elevator because have hundreds of people doing line to go to the roof.

I had emailed the hotel before booking asking a few questions and the manager kindly replied within a few days which made me decide on this hotel. We arrived at the hotel around 3am but the front desk staff, security, concierge were all welcoming and we got an upgrade. The room was fantastic, too big for just the 2 of us but the room was very clean and we even got free water bottles during our stay which was convenient. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff are able to speak english!! Located a few minutes away from the station, it was very convenient! We were worried about taking cabs in a foreign country but we would ask the concierge for a taxi and they were very accommodating by asking us our destination and telling the cab drivers. When getting in the cab from the hotel, the security officers(?) were writing down the cab info so I felt very safe taking a cab. I felt very safe in this hotel overall and the fact that they would write down the cab info made us feel even safer. This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and would recommend to anyone!!

Overall, the stay was as expected of Hilton standards. The warmest staff there are probably the boat shuttle personnel, and doormen. The others are rather cold and a little too impersonal. The worst is probably the 'breakfast door-lady' who never fail to embarrass my wife and I for two days. Perhaps it was my mistake to have made an error during my online booking to indicate only 1 person. Despite being assured during check-in that I can just walk in and the extra will be charged accordingly, I am still subjected to a 5 minutes questioning and further checking in the systems. But I suspect she does not understand my request "Please charge to my room". So, be extra careful when doing the booking, otherwise you would be harassed. Anyway, the breakfast is plain, at best, for a 5-star hotel. Although far, the hotel's boat shuttle makes it up. It is convenient, safe, regular, FOC and connects you almost directly to the BTS (Saphan Taksin) and the river express central jetty. Another public ferry (6 Bahts return) connects you nearer to Chinatown. For the adventurous, do visit the market directly beside the hotel for good authentic Thai food.

This was a very good business hotel. There are lots of amenities and restaurants and shops in the hotel making it very convenient. The location was nice: right on the water front next door to the riverside plaza shopping center, the Sheraton has another pier just next door for public boats going to Wat Pho/Royal Palace and other riverside sites. The Sheraton also had a free shuttle at its own private pier taking you south to another boat pier where you can get the free boat shuttle to the Asiatique shopping area which is terrific. The hotel room is very clean and a good standard size with comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with modern finishings. I felt safe and comfortable here. A few tips: if you don't wake up in time or miss breakfast go outside the hotel and just around the corner in the outside area between the hotel and the riverside plaza there is a great little French bakery there that makes delicious sandwiches (I got a crazy good tuna sandwich there). Another nice thing about this hotel is that there is a sky bridge connecting the hotel to the riverside plaza shopping center just next door where there are more shops and restaurants--you don't even need to go out in the heat if you don't want to! The Wat Traimit is only a 5 min cab ride away and most other main sites are accessible via the river. Overall I really enjoyed staying here and navigating the boat system to get around.

We stayed at the Ibis Riverside to visit the Asiatique, market and plaza. The hotel can be a little difficult to find but the easiest way we found is to take the BTS to Saphan Thaksin then turn left out of the station to catch a ferry boat across the river. After disembarking, walk to the main road, turn left and walk about 300 metres and you will see 7-eleven and signage for the Ibis hotel. By booking an Ibis hotel, you know the standard and layout of the room as they are basically the same design throughout the world. The location is excellent on the riverfront with a great pool and gardens. The greatest advantage of this hotel is the price (1600Baht) as most riverside hotels are normally three, four or five times this price. For anyone who likes Indian food, there is a a great restaurant on the main road. Turn left at the 7-eleven 50 metres. Visit the Sena Shopping Complex nearby (walking distance). The hotel also runs a free shuttle bus service to the nearest BTS station. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this property for 5 days in April 2018. It is centrally located in Bangkok and most of the famous sight seeings can be reached by public transport from here. The nearest BTS (Bangkok Skytrain) station is Krung Thon Buri is a mere 800m walk from here. You can use it to reach Chatuchak Weekend Market, MBK, Central World, Siam Paragon, Sukhumvit, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market. For 15 bahts you can reach Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Chinatown by the ferry at Sathorn Pier (ask anyone to guide you for it, a small walk which will take you to the other side of Sathorn Pier from where you can take a ferry to the main pier for 5 Bahts) There are bus stops also on the main road which can take you to many places. Suvarnabhumi Airport is far from here around 40 kms, so if you have a flight to take fro here keep approximately 1.5-2 hrs aside for it (The property can help you book a taxi for 500 bahts for Airport and other sightseeing places). For all Pizza fans there's a Dominos

The Oriental is a classic old world river hotel. While some may say the place is a bit tired with older elevators, rooms and style that hasn't really changed for decades, it's probably still worth it. The thing that makes the Oriental special is the life that passes through. The hotel still has people sitting for tea, eating in the well-known restaurants, enjoying Jazz in the Bambu room, or just hanging out in the lobby. The service is best in class, and you will feel at home and have every need attended to. It is easy to access the Skytrain (BTS) at Saphan Taksin and also pick up a boat from the dock anywhere. The spa across the river is indulgent if you don't care about the price tag. If you want to be on the city side of the river in a classic best in class luxury, and still feel like you are in the scene of a 1960s movie, you can't really replace the Oriental. There are newer over the top hotels that are most beautiful, more extravagent, but none with the same activity that you find at the Oriental. If you want privacy and exclusivity, then there are other options better. But, i do love this hotel and there is something truly Bangkok about it. This is the only top end hotel at the river that can work if you need to go into central.

When my boyfriend and I were planning to book a Hotel in Bangkok, I wanted to have a tub in our room with reasonable prize, since it was our first night we wanted it to be amazing. I found this hotel and was won over its photos of the rooms and was transpired in person, which we were very contented. Upon arrival the FO was very welcoming and helpful, it didnt took us long to wait for the check in procedure and was assisted to our room after 5mins. We booked their Executive Deluxe and it was one of the best rooms. The tub was built for two, best for honeymooners, the bed is big and all the amenities are personalize which makes you feel like you're in a luxurious hotel. Location wise, its very quiet with a lot of street food, which their street is known for, aside from being the oldest roads in Bangkok (a good history), It's a good 5-8mins walk to Asiatique, where you can enjoy night shopping and mid-high level restaurants, before reaching Asiatique, you can pay a visit in a nearby temple for a little sightseeing. You can also save money and time by getting on the boat since its nearby Chao Praya river. Kudos to everyone and I hope to see you all again!

The hotel is located in the historical area of Bangkok (Banglamphu) where you can find lots of delicious foods and travel attractions around (very close to Khaosan, Phra Athit Pier and the Grand Palace). I was there with my partners with the double room (River View). We could see the Rama VIII bridge from the room. Facility in the room are all very good. The only thing that almost disappoint us was the lady at the hotel gave us the wrong room at the very first time. We need to show them the booking confirmation that we paid for the river view room. She changed the room for us. At the lower floor of the hotel, there is bar and restaurant where you can eat, drink and see the view of Chaopraya River together. Beverages are at reasonable price. I would recommend if you would like to take a break in Bangkok for this hotel

We stayed in late February & since we send very little time (actually none) sitting on a balcony looking at the view we took the "Serene Corner" @ $60. Leaving the airport after 1am with directions in Thai the driver had to be encouraged to turn on the meter & still took a tour, actually getting himself confused by his meandering. The fare was 410 baht. Going back to the airport at 4am we found many taxis cruising the area, about half of whom are unwilling to meter. Just wait 30 seconds & somebody else will come by. Fare back was 250 baht. The hotel was shiny and new and contrary to some we found the staff friendly & helpful at all times, even for post midnight problems (broken drinking glass & stopped up toilet). They were out of bed & up yo help in minutes. The room was fairly small but not cramped. The restaurant was very good. As a side, after about 5 days I decided a big greasy American hamburger would be good & to my amazement the restaurant had one. It was bar none the best I ever had & the fries were competitive with the best. My cardiologist would not approve of how they made it so good however so I stuck primarily with Thai fare. Many backpackers also ate here while staying at lesser nearby hotels. As one told me he had noticed that in Thailand bad restaurants are cheap and the really good places are not much more. The express boats take you to everything along the river for 13 baht, less than, $.40 US but stop running at 7:30.

We were there mid Sept. had a room with pool access which I highly recommend (premier room). The hotel is beautiful and the rooms with their own kitchenette are great. Easy to cross the river and move around the Chao Praya using public Ferry (depending on the distance and flag color 10 to 30 bahts!) Nice view to the Royal Palace and Wat Arun from their restaurant opposite the road. Nice cocktails too!!!. The Wang Lang Street market right on the door is great for local food during day time. The cons: , the street food is only during day time, for dinner there is less choice. Also ferries stop at 7.30 aprox. You still can use the river crossing ferries but not much mobility at night unless you take a taxi.Taxis have a hard time navigating the narrow busy streets going in and out of the hotel to the main road . All in all we loved the place and its location outside touristy areas. Next time I go back to Bangkok I will return to the Theater Residence for sure!!!

I have stayed at the Bossotel on four different occasions each for 4-6 nights. The room are big enough for Thailand standards and the staff very friendly and willing to help at all times. I always when checking out ask them to post an envelope which they accepted gladly (I just left them a fee that will cover the cost of the postage) Most of the accommodations in this price class only have a shower but the Bossotel have a bath and shower, water is always hot and a nice full strong stream of water. The room were always clean with newly linen. The hotel has its own spa but on the ground floor next to the hotel (with an entrance to the hotel’s lobby are a massage spa, with some of the skilled masseurs I came across in my 17-20 various visits to Thailand. The Bossotel is in the area where you will find the most 925 silver jewellery shops and precious and semi-precious gemstones. It is a 7 minutes’ walk from a sky train station and a 5 minute walk (in the same direction of the sky train station) to an apartment store where you will find everything you will need. In this complex you will find most of the international known food outlets and also local dining. There is also a very nice and very cheap local diner 1 minute from the hotel. The breakfast of this price class hotel has more to offer than some higher star hotels in Bangkok. I received free internet every time and I would gladly recommend anybody to stay at the Bossotel

The accommodation is great, although even some of the taxi drivers had difficulty finding the hotel. Entry is down a dead end "alleyway" opposite Wat Pho. On the food front, the soft shell crab was soggy, and the Northen Thai appetiser platter cooked element tasted like they may have been cooked in old fat! We both had types of braised meats for our main course. Neither of which were to our taste (This is not the restaurant's fault as we both tried Thai versions of meats we both love but for us they didn't work). The breakfast was brilliant, sat on the terrace facing the river and another fantastic temple, Wat Arun. It wouldn't take much to make this hotel score 5 stars in every category, and I realise that you can't cater for everyone's taste, but all in all we loved it!!!

Only two things did not meet the 5 stars above. Our room's shower only had a Rain shower and no hand held shower because we booked room as a small room. The larger rooms have both types of shower. Location was a problem because there is no BTS train near. Some taxi drivers did not know where this hotel was located. Since I have been in that area before the hotel was built, I realized where it was after being taken there the first time. (It took 3 different taxi drivers looking for the hotel and finally we were dropped off a short distance and we looked for the hotel. We found the hotel, I said that I have been at the next building many times in the past. So tell your taxi driver that the hotel is next to the General Telephone Office on Charoen Krung Road.

My wife and I stayed at Loy La Long in the Black Room and absolutely loved it. The place itself is a bit hard to find at first, tucked into a temple complex (that also hosts a car park) and abutting the Chao Praya, but luckily as we hunted for it one of the staff members saw us and led us straight to the front door. Once inside we immediately fell in love with the restored teak house that makes up the hotel. The owner and her staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful in making recommendations and helping you navigate this massive city. The hotel itself is just outside of the Chinatown area, so you are walking distance from some of the best food in Bangkok. The room has a fantastic view of the river (literally right on it) and a very comfortable bed. Every morning they cooked and served a breakfast of our choosing (requested the previous day) and every day it was excellent. There are two common areas that also look out on to the river with an open-air design, and there are snacks, water, beer, etc. that you can purchase at any time by writing down what you take on a post-it note and adding it to your room tab (perfect for a night cap when you finally get home after a day in the city). One hundred percent we would recommend booking here and would stay here again ourselves on our next trip.

After spending a few days in the hustle and bustle of Silom , I wanted to have a few day quiet on the river - I love discovering new trendy little hotels and this one was perfect. Open for only about a month the hotel is set on the river banks of the Chao Phraya Its a small hotel with very few rooms. As you approach the hotel from one of the little back streets you arrive at a Moroccan/Asian style terracotta building , the entrance with its small red pool and main building is ornate with tiles and colonial style furniture. The rooms are unique and quite fabulous colonial style again , I had a river view room. and loved sitting on my terrace at night watching the boats glide pass. The free standing bathtub was great of which I used every night after walking around the city. and the beds well I slept like a bug in a rug and woke up to the sun rising over silom I loved it and the staff were great -thank you for a great stay - I will be back 🙏🏼

This is a beautiful hotel. Although it might not be a 4 star hotel on any lists, it seems like a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star. It has very large rooms, with king size beds. The carpets and interior of the rooms are so clean, with beautiful art deco present in every room and hallway. It has a strong emphasis on the artistic side of decor. My room had a beautiful view of the city, for miles and miles. As a building, it is not among many tall buildings; this one just suddenly appears among a standard local culture district, with standard Thai food shops along the street. But only a few blocks away is a very big restaurant and shopping area called Asiatica, which is like a truly international food court. Asiatica reminded me of restaurant and shopping areas in California! Same kinds of great breweries, restaurants and establishments, including a French restaurant and many affordable Thai restaurants. Room comes with refrigerator, and various amenities. Above all, the room is huge, and a beautiful clean white with art on the walls and a TV ready to go. Great climate control. Room did not come with free breakfast, but apparently, some do. Very fast and easy check in. I happened to be there for their Festival of Lights religious holiday and so this Asiatica shopping area and the street Tongtara is on were truly packed with people. Taxi driver and hotel staff reassured me it is not always like this!! But this is a beautiful hotel, which not only has huge rooms, a sense of art and large beds. It seems to be a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star hotel in a 3 star area!!

Pros Free Handy Smart phone! Gosh, why don’t more international hotels offer this?! It was a smart phone that is free to use! Saved our butt quite a few times finding directions, contacting tours and contacting home. Nice looking hotel. Very clean and modern looking. Check in was pretty easy. Gave us a very nice dossier with all information. Gave us a place to store our luggage until our room was ready. Nice coffee shop, restaurant and rooftop bar that all had a great scenic view of the river. We had the small room, but it was nice with a stocked mini fridge and basket of snacks. Bottled water was free and everything else had a small price. Staff was helpful and booked us a 6 am taxi to the airport. Cons Poor WiFi. We don’t get international cell plans, so we rely on WiFi. You get only 3 WiFi logins per room. We both have 3 devices each, so we had to choose what we connected and didn’t. It also disconnected every time you left the hotel, so you had to log back in every time. It was quite slow as well, no streaming and very long download times. The Handy phone made up for some of this, but not all of it. Seemed to be on the “wrong” side of the river from everything we were wanting to do/main area. You have to take a ferry or a long and expensive taxi. There are markets and restaurants within walking distance. Additional info The check out process was different from all other hotels we’ve stayed in. We had a 6 am taxi to get to the airport so we went to the lobby shortly before 6 thinking we would just need to turn in our key. They needed to walk through the room with us, evaluate was was taken from the mini fridge and settle our tabs. Not really a con, just different so schedule in more time than usual for check out.

If you're looking for a generic 5 star luxury experience devoid of culture and style, this is not your place. The CHANN boutique hotel is a beautiful respite in a quiet authentic neighborhood in close proximity to the main tourist sites. Exceeded all of our expectations. You should know that it is very much in a locals neighborhood, with all its colors, flavors, sounds and trash (which we loved). But once you walk onto the property it is luxury and style (even the music was great). Very well done, highly recommended for the off the beaten track traveler. I hope the area stays quiet and authentic and not overrun.

Praya Palazzo Hotel is situated across mainland Bangkok, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and this is what I like the best. It has a colonial style architecture and is simply a stunning place to stay for any relaxing holiday getaway. The only mode of transportation to the hotel would be via the boat. The hotel has it's own boat to fetch their customers from the pier. All you need to do is to give them a call from the pier and they will arrange a boat to pick you up shortly and it will only take 5 minutes to reach the hotel. Besides the unique location, I would also like to compliment on their excellent customer service that makes our stay more enjoyable. It's always nice to see someone waiting for you with your room keys when they know that you are reaching the hotel. When we came back to our room on our first night, it's really comforting to see that someone has already make our bed and has even turned on the air-condition for us. In order for us to contact them for whatever issues when we are at mainland Bangkok, the staff even arranged a mobile phone to us for free. Another thing worth mentioning is the breakfast. It's not like those international buffet breakfast from any other hotels. Breakfast is served from their restaurant and all you need is to order from the menu and it will be served to shortly. It's definitely a star hotel and I would rate it 10 points and beyond if I could.

The hotel stands next to the river, but you need to keep your eyes open for the signs indicating where to turn off the main road, as the taxi drivers don't always know themselves. Situated sufficiently away from the main road, it is an oasis of quiet in a bustling metropolis. Staff are attentive and English language skills are not a problem. This hotel is used by a good number of coach operators, particularly for Chinese tourists it seems, so early evening and first thing in the morning the hotel can be teeming with groups checking in/out. Breakfast is best taken late, if you can, when you can have the breakfast area virtually to yourself. Would be more than happy to stay again. Was a good choice for us, with easy access from the airport and reasonably close to family in Nonthaburi.

A lifelong friend and I are traveling Thailand. The Swan Hotel is wonderful. It is not a new hotel but deserves 5 stars. The room is very basic but comforatable. The pool is fantastic and beautiful. The staff is the best. Always there to help you. Breakfast and lunch is very good with wonderful quick service. I will always stay here when I return. Thank You---Patricia Smith---Florida USA

Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or family - this place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you lay eyes on this aesthetically pleasing quaint boutique hotel - you will be in love! Talakkia is a hidden gem (literally, down a secure back alley), just a ten minute walk from Chinatown. The staff were exceptional, the food moderately priced and delicious, and the room superbly clean with everything you need - and not to mention the unique, modern-industrial chic decor, so cute! Would stay here a million times more if I could have the chance to! Handy mini bar with snacks and drinks to purchase, tiny (but wonderfully relaxing) outside pool and spa/reading/relaxing area, elevator, and ice cream are just a few of the other great perks! Side note - needed a quick shower after checking out and leaving for the day, staff easily let my partner and I come in, rent a towel, and shower up before a long night train ride (appreciate this so much!) - Talakkia, one of the best stays EVER.
