"I initially booked a different hotel in Ho chi minh but then after learning that the said hotel was far from the center of the city, I immediately cancelled that booking and booked Duxton Hotel instead. Oh and am I glad I did! My husband and I stayed at Duxton Hotel for 5 nights. The whole stay was perfect. The breakfast buffet spread was really good and since we booked an executive room, we had access to the club lounge which offered free snacks and drinks at certain times of the day. The hotel is also centrally located in District 1. We barely hailed a cab since most of the shops and tourist sites are within walking distance. Checking in and out of this hotel was a breeze and they even stored our luggages for us for hours after we had checked out. All in all, we were completely satisfied. "

"We arrived to our first booking to find out they had given our room away. Desperate, we booked Paragon after 4 failed attempts at other hotels. We booked the "no window" room with the thoughts that we would be going outside of our backpacker budget, but we'd stay somewhere better than our usual cheap stays. Well the hotel was just okay, but considering it was late at night and our options we limited we will take it. We stayed on the 2nd floor in the no window room and it was kind of creepy. No windows give me the heebie jeebies (in Canada it's a violation of code to have sleeping occupants in a room without windows, so maybe I'm just not used to it). Walls were paper thin on our floor; the family next to us was up at 04:30. Other than that the room was very clean and the breakfast was spot on. It'll do in a pinch, but if you're on a budget there are better options. "

"We got to the hotel quite late, so weren’t so keen on traipsing around at that point for a drink. Thankfully, after a smooth check-in, we found that the rooftop bar was open till about 2am so we managed to get a couple of drinks before bed. The room is clean and quite comfortable with all the amenities you would find in a good 4 star hotel. The breakfast buffet, was a decent spread of asian and western options which will keep you going till late afternoon. There is wifi through out the hotel, but it worked best at the roof top bar so you can put off your roaming and still be connected to the rest of the world. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the service at the bar/restaurants was pretty decent. When you do go out, you might need local currency and if you haven’t had the chance to exchange it, worry not because you can do so at the reception at a very good rate. The best aspect of the hotel for me was the location. The hotel is situated in the heart of District 1 and everything is walking distance from the hotel. You can find a city map in your room or at the reception and hold onto this for your trip, it’s very useful. Ranging from 5 to 20 minutes you can reach, the Ho Chi Minh city museum, War Reunification Palace, the War Remnant Museum, Notre Dam Cathedral, the Central Post Office, the Opera House, Ben Thanh market and even the riverside for a nice evening walk. You don’t feel like eating in the hotel, there are plenty of nice restaurants spread around the hotel ranging from local vietnamese pho to exotic french cuisines. There are quite a few bars around if you do take the effort to locate them if you want a good mix of the locals and expats. I however enjoyed drinking at the rooftop bar for nothing else but the fact that I was just knackered by the end of each day and didn’t have the energy to go out drinking. Everything is reasonably priced within the hotel as well. PS: Carry a bottle of water while you're out."

"My friend and I had been booked into a '4 star' hotel on the other side of town when we didn't realise how old that rating was and how we didn't want to be in that kind of area. A desperate search online led me to The Myst and I've made only a few better decisions in my life! Such understated luxury and class - far superior to any anonymous chain hotel. Amazing staff, funky building and the hot tub on the balcony was a suprise! Gutted I didn't have time to use it. I'll definitely stay there any time I'm in Saigon and tell anyone who asks to do the same"

"The hotel is right in the middle of the shopping district and within easy walking distance to all the best bars and restaurants. We were upgraded from the oriental suite we originally booked to a lovely large suite overlooking the opera. Service was terrific and the buffet was good as well. With all the construction of new hotels in the area this hotel needs to look at exploiting it historic value and decor and do a major update along the lines of the Hanoi Metropole or the Delhi Imperial hotel both of these hotels are five star and the Continental should follow the same path of these two hotels as there are many customers who would be willing to pay more money for a stay at a historic five star hotel. The renovation would not have to be a huge expense as this hotel has wonderful architecture it just needs the five star touch. The outside terrace in front should have rattan chairs and low tables and lots of potted plants and topiary and umbrellas.. The inside courtyard should be quieter make a separate service area and close the noisy windows as youi can hear the kitchen.. Again making an extensive garden with rattan chairs and lots of topiary and plants, potted box hedges etc. Other than these observations re really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. "

"One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Fantastic location right in the thick of District One. Wonderful rooms - we had a huge 2 bedroom apartment, with 2 bathrooms, kitchen and a laundry. Fabulous pool area which we had almost to ourselves everyday. Great buffet breakfasts. All staff members we dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay at the Sedona Suites Grand Tower next time we visit Ho Chi Minh City!"
