What a great resort, one of the best in stayed in during my travels around SE Asia. Nearly brand spanking new and within walking distance to down town Hoi An. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the large pool was a welcome respite after a sweaty day walking the streets. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to an 'Emerald Suite' on arrival (we had originally booked a river view room. The suite was very large and had the most amazing view of both the swimming pool and river. It also had one of this pod type chairs on the balcony which was great for relaxing. The resort itself had a large, well appointed restaurant (although admittedly we only used it for breakfast - which were buffet and delicious), it also had a small gym (which was more of a 'gym-ette' with just a sprinkling of small weights and two treadmills) and a day spa. The hotel was kind enough to arrange a tour to My Son for us as well as return airport (Danang) transfers and I would definitely recommend booking your tours through the hotel. Pros of the resort: the room was very large (50 sqm) and very modern. The bathroom was absolutely HUGE !! with both a separate bathtub and a large, powerful shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the reception staff spoke fluent English. The resort boasted lovely sunset views over the river and was only a 5-10 minute walk away from the main town area of Hoi An (which is a very lovely town). We never felt unsafe walking back, even at night but a taxi probably wouldn't cost much. It was also very quiet. There was also the opportunity to hire bikes directly opposite the hotel for about $3 a day and we cycled out to the nearest beach at Cua Dia (about 7km away).

So, we ended up at Lantana (on the wise recommendation of a friend) the day before the Typhoon Damrey flooding hit. Saturday afternoon, we drove up to the front gate on the road next to the river in a taxi. By Sunday there was no road to be seen and by Monday, the water was in the Lobby. And you know what? We never even considered checking out and going somewhere else. The staff here is simply the best of the best. They made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. They took note of our names right away and referred to us by them every time. They remembered the drinks we ordered (and enjoyed immensely) at Happy Hour and even what kind of eggs we ordered for breakfast. Every single thing was done with a smile on their faces, even when the circumstances were out of their control and less than ideal. When the flooding reached the lobby, we arrived downstairs in the morning to find that the breakfast buffet had calmly and simply been moved to the hallway on higher ground. Coffee was still hot and even eggs were still on order direct from the kitchen! Many of the staff members stayed at the hotel overnight several nights in a row. Some to cover for staff who couldn't make it in, we imagine, and others because they couldn't make it out to their own flooded homes anyway. Not once did we see a hint of frustration or annoyance or even the exhaustion they must have all been feeling. They worked TIRELESSLY and earned our business over and over again in every interaction we had with every single staff member. Our room was cleaned every day, our laundry was even done in a couple of hours on the worst day of the flooding, and it was all done with a general smile. We were so touched by Brian and his staff, including Anna, Lisa, Jessica, Nancy and many others whose names we failed to make note of, we literally cried leaving for the airport. We will NEVER forget our trip, will never stay anywhere else in Hoi An and will recommend this wonderful place over and over and over

I would say the stay at Little Hoi An was one of the best throughout our whole Vietnam trip, well maybe even better than any we had in Singapore. They had the best customer service, which me and my bf were really happy with. We were greeted with smiles and lots of useful information when we first checked in. All the staffs were really friendly and smiley, especially Hienn and Susan. The both of them were really helpful and went the extra miles to answer all of our needs, that really brightened our 3 nights stay there :) We had the deluxe room, though the view ain't that good, we thought that the room has a simple yet elegant decor. We were so satisfied with the room that we actually extended one more night to stay in Hoi An. The breakfast spread is not that large but definitely sufficient and really delicious. There's always staffs around to serve either bread, vietnamese crepe or iced coffee. Once again, we were overwhelmed by the awesome service rendered, really way better than what a typical 4 star hotel will offer. Lastly, the location is really awesome we thought, as we can always spend the evening walking from the romantic ancient town to our hotel. We enjoyed being near the locals, and yet able to enjoy the quiet moments with each other. Definitely going back to this hotel if we visit Hoi An in the future. Highly recommended!

I booked 8 rooms at Vinh Hung Riverside Resort for Dec 30 and 31, 2012 for our multi-family party of ~20 persons. Below is a summary of my experience: • Good location; on small, quiet street a short distance away from the old town • Riverfront and has excellent view of the river • Staff provided freshly squeezed juices while we waited for check in process • Front desk staff and management very accommodating and customer focused. Nothing pleased everyone in our traveling party during our Vietnam trip… except this resort. It pleased even the most critical person in our party. This was the best hotel stay and a highlight of our 3-week Vietnam trip. I highly recommend Vinh Hung Riverside Resort without hesitation! • Beautiful grounds and layout. In the middle is an outdoor pool. • The restaurant is large, nicely decorated, has outdoor tables overlooking the river and provides a beautiful view of the river • Our rooms were large, comfortable, with an old-world, antique look and feel. • The room has AC, a safe, coffee, wifi (somewhat slow). Bed was large and comfortable • Breakfast buffet was stunning in its wide range of food items to choose – both western and Vietnamese foods – and in its elegant arrangement. We sat outside to eat our breakfast the first morning and enjoyed the view of the river • Complimentary samples of local cuisine in the courtyard in front of the restaurant daily from 4-5 PM. The foods were excellent • Bike rental business in front of resort which was very convenient for us. I recall the rental rate being 25,000 dong a day per bike.

We booked this hotel based on the review in Lonely Planet. We loved our stay, but there were some surprises. We booked room 208 which was recommended as the room to get. However, the room is dark with only one outside window. As this window opens onto a veranda that gets guest traffic, we decided to keep it closed. The other main issue is that there are translucent glass panels in the wall and door that open onto the corridor and even when the hall lights are turned off, a lot of light leaks into the room at night. Bring eye shades. On the plus side, the hotel is gorgeous if you like traditional, historic architecture. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Perhaps the biggest bonus is the menu of "complimentaries." Dinner with the staff is "on the house." The food is delicious and plentiful. Staying at the hotel and eating with the staff is like having dinner with old friends. Vinh Hung is part of a chain and all of the facilities of the Vinh Hung resort are available to the guests of the Heritage hotel. This includes free massage, use of the swimming pool, etc. We will definitely stay there again, but next time we'll bring the eye shades we get from various airlines.

This is quite a story: I booked a dormitory room at a hotel upon arrival in Hoi An. When I arrived the reception yesterday, I asked them what bed number am I assigned? And she said no you are the only one in the room but I said I took a shared room online. Then she insisted that I have like a standard room. So I thought I was moved to another room. Then had some biking around the city and decided to back in the hotel for breakfast. The staff approached me and said "I need to tell you about your booking" then I stopped her because I don't wanna be disturbed in my eating. I said can you let me finish first? I'll talk to you later after I'm done with my breakfast. After that I went to reception and said what was that again about my reservation? The lady said I was in the wrong room. At first, I knew that it was gonna be a dispute. Then I was thinking if I'm going to fire-up or taking it calm. Then, politely I explained everything what happened yesterday. I was so impressed with reception for admitting their fault. She said it was not my fault and whether I pay it or not it is okay. It is just happened that I have no extra budget left and later I'll be traveling down south to Da Lat and back to Saigon in few days. I highly recommend this Golden River Hotel to everyone. The staff were great and the room is complete and comfortable. Plus I admire the value for customer service. Sometimes life is like a mirror what you showed to others will reflect back to you, so keep calm and drink Viet coffee (with ice and milk please!) 😉 Highly recommended to everyone visiting Hoi An.❤️

I don't know if we got a deal by mistake or something but we were blown away by the value for money at this hotel. We paid less than £30 a night but I would have happily paid double that or more. The room was spacious, clean and very stylish, with a nice balcony overlooking the pool. The staff were very friendly and accomodating (however, and this is the only tiny thing we could criticise, there was a few times when no one was attending the bar area despite there being quite a lot of staff and hardly any guests). The location is great- a 2 minute walk to the riverside (where all the restaurants and bars are). Contact with them beforehand was all straightforward and easy to arrange transport from Da Nang airport, etc. We didn't make use of the restaurant/bar so can't comment on the food. Overall, this was our favourite hotel throughout our 6 week holiday, can't recommend it enough.

one of my colleagues and i decided to escape the chaos of hcmc for the weekend and decided to head to hoi an for the weekend. this was a last minute trip and i had heard about this hotel from a friend who had stayed here with his girlfriend. they both loved the hotel and when we arrived we were not disappointed. we had arranged for transport from them the airport and the trip from the airport to the hotel went very smoothly. the staff were very courteous. we loved the room we had on the ground floor next to the pool. the room was a great size for the price and was very clean. the bathroom was also much larger than most hotels. i loved that the room had a divider in the middle. my friend is an early riser and the room worked out perfectly as she was able to get up early in the morning and fool around on the computer and drink tea, while i slept. we also enjoyed the breakfast that was served on the first floor with a view of the river. this hotel is located right across from the famous japanese bridge and in a quiet section of the city. it is 5-7 minute drive into the center of town, but that was fine with us, as we were happy to ride the bicycles that the hotel provides. we had all ready booked another more expensive hotel for the three other days that we stayed in hoi an (before we booked this hotel), but if i were to go back to hoi an, i would definitely stay here again.

I loved the Pho Hoi 1 hotel. For $15 I had a spacious sunny room with windows looking out over my balcony to a lovely old , quiet lane. The room was clean, spacious, simply furnished and comfortable. The staff were so kind and helpful. Each night they brought me a flask of hot water so that I could make tea [you need to request this though]. The hotel is in the perfect location, just steps from the ancient town. There's no breakfast at the hotel, but I went to the Hoi An Roastery Coffee House around the corner and down a bit, at 135 Tran Phu Street for perfect coffee and pastries in a very cool setting. The hotel is also very quiet at night, so there's no problem with sleeping. Ming and the rest of the staff booked my tours at very fair prices. I will absolutely stay here again - it's simple but a really nice base for exploring Hoi An ancient town and the tons of great cafes there, as well as the ancient temple complex of 'My Son', and it's only 10 minutes by motorbike taxi to the beach.

We stayed in a twin room on the second floor. It was incredibly spacious with a modern TV, mini fridge, desk and wardrobe. Aircon worked wonderfully and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Room is also cleaned daily with fresh towels. The true star of the hotel is the bathroom. Absolutely beautiful rainfall shower head and handheld option. The shower is enclosed and seperate from the toilet. The wifi is the fastest we've had in Asia. Location cannot be faulted, in walking distance to absolutely anything in the Hoi An centre. The free breakfast isn't that impressive. It's a 5 or so minute walk to Tanh Binh 3, where there is also a pool you can use. The younger male and female receptionists were wonderful and always willing to help. We are sad to not remember their names. She even organised our bus to Hue at a great price. She also booked us a great tour to the My Son temples with a scenic boat ride back to the city centre, we would definitely recommend this tour option. There was one receptionist who seemed to hassle us every time we walked in and out of the hotel attempting to sell us tours. He even tried to overcharge us for the our laundry. But once we clued on to his attitude we chose to wait until the friendlier staff were at reception until we asked any questions. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone - it's cheaper than many of the hostels in the area!!!
