We stayed for 13 nights in this charming little hotel. It was Sir Robert Bristow’s house right on the seafront and by far the best situated in Fort Kochi. The feel of the place is colonial, the staff fantastic, the food phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble and the chef Rehman, will adjust the dishes and spices to your palate if necessary. He can often be seen checking that the food is to your liking.The dining area faces the sea at the harbour entrance and dolphins leap before you in the sea whilst you take breakfast. Raghavan and his team look after you well in the restaurant. The beds are enormous four posters with firm mattresses the ensuite bathrooms very roomy with amazing soap.The hotel has 2 drivers who will take you on trips if you so desire.This is not a modern concrete tower hotel, this one oozes history, relaxation and charm.We had a brilliant time. Many thanks to you all😁 A difficult holiday to beat!

It's like a boutique hotel, an old warehouse converted into a hotel. Lots of old and antique stuff are kept throughout the hotel as museum exhibits. Nice large clean rooms. Only a couple have the Sea side views. But excellent hospitality and service. Located on the mattancheri side of the island, very close to the synagogue and Dutch palace. Excellent restaurant side view of the Sea and canal area. Nice food too. Overall nice experience.

We were a family of 4 (2 adults& 2 kids aged 17 & 8). We booked in for a stay at the property for 4 days. We decided that it would be best to have 2 rooms so that we could ensure a relaxed stay. Our only request at the time of booking was that the rooms be preferably interconnected..was given due preference. We were in fact looking forward to a nice unwinding stay at FNR. The property is located in Fort Koch which is a cool 15km away from the bustle of Ernakulam town. Fort Kochi is famed for a number of tourist attractions and this property is within acceptable distance from themajor attractions like theJewish synagogue, Jew town, the old palace museum, Chinese fishing nets, lots of quaint shops that sell antiques etc. If you prefer to shop a lot, it may be better to stay in Ernakulam town.. It is a sort of a boutique hotel, aged but maintained very well boasting good views of the Bay. Good rooms, good restaurants complimented by excellent and thoroughly professional staff.

We appreciated the warm hospitality of the staff. It was low season and we received all the personal attention. Breakfast was really good...chef Jerry was most accommodating in providing our preferences of Indian or continental options. He also readily shared with us some recipes. Request for the refreshing homemade grape juice! We enjoyed the seafood dinner on our last night although it was over catered and overpriced. It cost us about 1500rps per person. We suppose it was due to the low season and the need to generate revenue. Overall, it was a really pleasant stay. This hotel is part of the Crafters group that has a number of handicraft outlets in Mattancherry especially in the Jewish synagogue vicinity.

I loved the structure and design of the hotel. It is small, compact and thus, personalised. It actually felt like living in one of the old Kerala houses rather than a hotel. The location of the hotel is the best. Most of the Fort Kochi sites are all within walking distances and some accessible with auto- rickshaw. The front office gave me a walking map which was very helpful. The rooms were all very well done, bathrooms very clean and modern. The toiletries in the bathroom were of very high quality. I really enjoyed the classical music in the evenings. However, I must add the service in the restaurant is a tab bit slow and can be improved.

I have nothing to complain even how hard I try to think of something. The hotel, the staffs, pool, facilities are simply superb. Worth every penny. Choices for breakfast is limited but the food was extremely delicious. I tried almost all options they had on menu. Room is beautiful, pool is small but perfect for a quiet getaway. Its at a beautiful spot in Fort Kochi. The only drawback was that, the city seems far away... far far away and it takes 45 mins to an hour to reach via ferry or by road. Its a must stay place. Simply the best that I have ever stayed in Kerala!

Our last night in Kerala. We booked a deluxe room. The hotel has character being about 200 yrs old and a former court House. Everything is nice about the hotel. The room, bathroom. The best part of the hotel were it's staff - terrific. But we did not realise the hotel lacked the following: 1. No views. The windows are blocked by a wall. Therefore black out curtains present rather than windows with a view. Very claustrophobic. The staff were very good enough to move us to a higher floor that had a partial blocked view. 2. No spa or Ayurveda in house. 3. No alcohol or bar In my view all the above are requirements of a good hotel. I think the hotel should be honest and inform bookers of its restrictions.

My stay was excellent from beginning till the end. The staff were caring, food was excellent, design of the property is elegant and refined. Apart from the fact that the basic rooms are a bit undersized and not well soundproof, everything was excellent. However, the price charged for the room and the food is excessive for India. Even if the quality is top notch and it is high season, I felt a bit frustrated to be charged 5 star rates for a property which is 4 star and not even licenced.

For a Budgeted Traveller : Best place to stay in Kochi. For the price i paid for a room was the best deal in my trip. I booked Starndard Double Bedroom Suite for 1250/- per night. My Stay was for 3 nights. Its a service apartment - 3 star hotel, located in a Residential Area, So dont expect an amazing view from your Window. Safe and comfortable. The reception staff was hospitable and the property manager Mr Ravi was very helpful. Ample space for covered Car parking Lift facility The place is active at night till 11 pm with all shops/restaurants opened. If you want to enjoy clubbing, there is a place called 'CLUB 18 Degree at Hotel no.18'.Its hardly 1 km from Phil's. Overall a very good experience and would recommend the place.

It is a nice hotel with warm and accommodating staff situated within walking distance to shops, seaside and beautiful Santacruz Basillica. We stayed for 3 nights and had a late flight the next day. They allowed us to stay on till 7pm which was ever so kind. The room was spacious and clean. Staff were polite and go out of their way to help...Tina Gomez the Front Office Manager in particular is a star.....helpful N with a smile always. We were happy indeed and would definitely return and stay here. Good coffee in café!

We had a lovely time at Daffodils Spice Court. The people could not have been kinder or more generous; they were even ready to welcome us when we arrived about two hours later than planned, in the middle of the night! Breakfasts were delicious, and generous enough that we didn’t need to eat again till dinner. The location is excellent for places like the arty bazaar, the Ginger House and the Mattancherry Palace, and a cheap auto-rickshaw ride from the Chinese fishing nets and the beach. We would definitely go back.

Browsing through the streets of fort kochi, you are suddenly greeted by a differently pleasant looking entrance and your world just changes! The view is awesome, every single piece in the place looks carefully chosen and you could spend hours just thinking about how the place was made. To top it their excellent staff, great food, super clean rooms..... it has been my best experience ever In a Hotel

First of all let me tell u how I feel for the very first arriving. The owners welcome me with a smile and their service is the best ever. They treat me like a family and the hotel is in a good location. One minute walk from the last airport bus stop. The hotel facilities are perfect, the air con, TV, hot water shower. All perfect. The rooftop restaurant has various choices. I love all here. Thx for making me a perfect trip in India. Everything’s beyond my expectations, really!! I will definitely come back next time.

We simply loved this place. A great find just a 3 min walk to the famous Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi. The hotel is well preserved and charming and even though it is in a busy location, the hotel exudes quiet. The room (superior ground level) was large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable (including the bed). What makes this property so special is the staff. Every person without exception treated us like favorite family members. Breakfast (included in our room rate) was delicious (the masala dosa a must have) but the dinners - wow! The food was fantastic (curries, fresh fish, veg dishes) and so inexpensive (they can easily raise the price and no one would blink an eye) so we ate here 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This is by far the best place to stay in the area. I recommend it highly and without reservation.

It is a small hotel located in the bottom of the island. Located on a second road, its very suitable emplacement allows you to be in the centre of the city but without the unpleasant noise of the tuk-tuk preventing you from taking a nice siesta. The hotel has no swimingpool but you can use the Koder House one for free as well as to book a nice masage with a 10% discount if you are staying in the fort manor. It does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner but we certainly enjoyed trying all the restaurants close to the hotel (most of the hotels are located in the same place and are at a walkable distance). Breakfast was nice although it is not buffet. It is composed by natural juice/ cutted fruit, coffee / milk, toasts and eggs / omelette. Simple but really nice. The rooms were spacious, very, very clean and everything is new (the hotel was open only 7 months before we stayed -December 2012). We would recommend this hotel to any couple of family staying for a few days in Fort Cochin. It's a real value for money.

a good hotel called abad hotel! a large room, very clean with a huge comfortable bed – clean sheets and towels. the bathroom was ‘tired’ but clean, wet room style with shower curtain and plenty of hot water at all times. good aircon and a fridge. you can purchase wifi for use in your room. breakfast was eggs, pineapple juice, ceriel, tea/coffee – the usual! the staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. this hotel is not actually in fort cochin but a good half hour walk – lots of life to see and enjoy on the way – to the spice area – great to breathe in the aromas on the way and a tuktuk ride to the chinese cantolevered fishing nets and main restaurant area. ) each way. we didn’t see any restaurants around the hotel area but the hotel has a nice one – and for the price of the rooms it is fine to get a tuktuk into the main part. we would recommend this hotel, we enjoyed our four nights there. try and see the show just down the road from the fishing nets on the right – a traditional show and unintentionally funny!

we were well greeted and presented with some drinks on arrival. we were then offered a late breakfast despite us only meant to be checking in that afternoon! we were then shown to the room which was very comfortable but a little basic yet that was fine for us. everything in the room was clean and in good condition. the hotel is well located with shops and plenty to see in the near by area. the staff on reception were very helpful with booking tours and making suggestions of places to visit. the best part of the hotel(other than the staff) was the beautiful restaurant roof terrace which on one side overlooks the rather pretty church. the food was well prepared and pretty good plus they were really accommodating with my girlfriend's strange food requests. and when she accidentally ordered something way too spicy for her, they were happy to allow her to order something else at no cost! daz who works in the restaurant was brilliant, always very charming, smiling and nothing was too much bother. when dining after dark a mosquito coil would always be placed by the table to keep you bite free (not that there were loads of mosquitoes about). when we came to leave, the hotel sorted out our transfers and at no cost! having stayed in a fair few 5 star hotels around the world i have never received the level of service that the hotel arches provided. this is all the more amazing given this is india where customer service(even in hotels)has not yet really caught on. having traveled around india a fair bit and dealing with quite a few rude receptionists, coming to the hotel arches was like a different world. i would recommended it to anyone wanting to stay in a comfortable and friendly place whilst visiting fort kochi.

We so enjoyed our two nights at the Fort Heritage, the staff were excellent, friendly and happy to assist with all our requests. Our room was huge , with a seperate seating area, huge bedroom, comfy bed and our own dinning area on the veranda looking out over the courtyard (where we ate dinner both nights). Breakfast in the courtyard in the morning is a great start to the day. There is an wonderful old world colonial charm about the hotel. They are a non licenced hotel, but there is a great bar a few minutes walk away. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cochin.

If you do not get a cheap price for the room through Agoda do not go there - The rooms would be totally overpriced if you get the room on site or if you are moved from a better accomodation to this hotel ! I booked a superior room into Bright Heritage Hotel, When I arrived there I got told it was full and they told me to be moved into Hotel Park Avenue in the same room category.The booking in Bright Heritage included refrigerator, TV, water heater, king size bed or 2 single beds. These items were all missing in Park Avenue. The next day I got told that I get the money for Bright Heritage refunded and I asked how much the room costs : The price was the same as for Bright Heritage except np fridge, no TV, single bed. I checked Agoda and found out the room price of Agoda was about 1/3. They told me the Agoda room type ( there the description fits the advertised costs ) is not existing in their hotel. After discussing for about 1 hour they agreed, if I make a booking through Agoda I can get the room for the Agoda price. Unfortunately theire Internet access in the evening is so slow that one has problems entering most sites and, in addition, Yahoo collapsed too this evening. So it took me about 5 hours to get everything sorted out. The windows were near the street lighting. There was no possibility to get room dark in the night. I asked if they could do something about it, they said yes but did not do anything about it. Due to this I had sleepless nights. If they would have asked immediately the price offered at Agoda and returned the difference of the Bright Heritage I would have given them 5*. But due to not refunding the difference by themselves and not helping to sort this problem out and advertising non-existing rooms types at AGODA I would give them only 1*. The only 2 good things about the Hotel were : It was relatively clean and at the end they accepted the price advertised at Agoda. Otherwise the room would have been totally overpriced.

We absolutely loved our stay at Fort Castle. The hotel is run by a family and the manager is a lovely man, always with a smile on his face and often a child on his arm, who would always make an effort to help us out if we needed it. We had some problems getting in contact with our travel agency when we arrived and the manager came up with ideas of how to find them when the phone number we were given didn't work and went through a lot of effort to track down the people - at the same time as he was helping other guests that had lost their luggage or had other problems! The rooms were clean and the AC worked well (though no hot showers but it was ok as it is very warm in Kochi anyway and the water was not freezing cold), and there is free wifi in the reception, which also reaches some of the rooms. The location is great, on a quiet street but still in the heart of Fort Kochi, so only 50 m to restaurants, shopping and sights! For a mid-range hotel I think it is great, and I would recommend it anytime and if I ever go back to Kochi, this is where I would stay again!
