"This is one of the two 4-star hotels that have the best location in Ho Chi Minh City. You are a walking distance from all major touristic hot spots, shopping areas, restaurants, bars and the river. Do not get put off by the initial old-fashioned look of the interior. This is Vietnam; and the fixtures are not worn out, just a bit old-fashioned. They maintain it perfectly and everything is clean. What the hotel lacks in looks is compensated by very professional, helpful, and friendly staff. There is a nice swimming pool on the top floor, which is not Olympic size, but is very cleverly designed and has a great view of the city. Spotless clean. All in all -- very good value for money. "

"The stay was very comfortable. It was such a nice hotel, well suited our needs; 1) Saigon Hotel staffs are very polite. We are allowed slightly early check-in. As we travel on Ramadhan, they even provide Halal breakfast pack for especially for us every early morning. 2) It is located opposite to the Ho Chi Minh Main Mosque, with few Halal restaurants around the same street. It makes it convenient for Muslim travellers. 3) Cab ride to spot places such as Ben Tanh market, Saigon Square, etc is just between 5-10 minutes taxi ride. 4) Convenient Store, ATM, are available on the same street. 5) Room was very clean, well equipped, well designed, and very comfortable for the price. Will surely stay here again in the future."

"i really enjoyed staying at the rex. the location is truly perfect - my room overlooked the ho chi minh statue, 5 minutes walk from the refinery, 5 minutes from ben thanh market and saigon square, 10 minutes to apocalypse now, 10 minutes to notre dame, 10 minutes to the river, 20 minutes to bui vien/pham ngu lao... the room was super clean, modern, but with a vietnamese character. noise wasn't an issue. breakfast was great and service was efficient, friendly and helpful. free, fast, open wifi everywhere around the hotel (which is huge). the rooftop bar is a nice place to relax in the evening and the live bands were good, although obviously aimed their music at a certain age group. the swimming pool was well maintained but nothing special, just a standard rooftop pool. the gym was good, many (affluent) locals actually have membership there although i never saw more than 3 people in at one time. i've stayed at park hyatt before a couple of times but enjoyed my stay at rex much more - it's brilliant, and great value. i highly recommend it. by the way i stayed at a premium room which i think means new wing."

"I initially booked a different hotel in Ho chi minh but then after learning that the said hotel was far from the center of the city, I immediately cancelled that booking and booked Duxton Hotel instead. Oh and am I glad I did! My husband and I stayed at Duxton Hotel for 5 nights. The whole stay was perfect. The breakfast buffet spread was really good and since we booked an executive room, we had access to the club lounge which offered free snacks and drinks at certain times of the day. The hotel is also centrally located in District 1. We barely hailed a cab since most of the shops and tourist sites are within walking distance. Checking in and out of this hotel was a breeze and they even stored our luggages for us for hours after we had checked out. All in all, we were completely satisfied. "

"I wasn't expecting too much as we paid a pretty low rate for this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh! The location is excellent - walking distance to shopping area like BenThanh Market and tourist areas like the Ho Chi Minh Square, War Museum, etc. Food was good too, they changed the buffet breakfast menu everyday so you don't get bored with the same food every single day. I will definitely stay in this hotel again the next time I come back to Ho Chi Minh."

"We arrived at 10h30 am and room was already available and we were charged $US25:00 for checking in before 14h00 . Lot of money for us Canadians especially that we told the clerk that we were leaving the hotel in four days at 06h00 in the morning and that they could charged again the same amount to another client arriving before checking time. That was our 5th hotel in Vietnam and we never encountered this problem before but we were told "hotel policy". As we left, we tried again to be refunded but at 05h50 in the morning we dealt with a night staff that did not cooperate with us again "hotel policy" was his answer. The final bill was difficult to understand as the amounts in Vietnamese did not match our invoices only the invoice number matched. Again, as we were leaving for the airport and that the employee had limited English speaking we had to pay the bill and move on. That was our last stop from Vietnam having visited Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Dalat and finally Ho chi minh and never encountered this problem in Vietnam. We left Ho chi minh on a sour note and flew to Siemp Reap. On a good note, the hotel is well located, very nice staff, good food, super nice room but very lousy policy for checking in. Travelers beware checking in before 14h00 it will cost you $US 25.00. Disappointed canadian traveller: Francine Mault "

"We had a great stay at this hotel. Excellent location within walking distance of all the major sights around ho chi minh, and was in a really nice part of town (sometimes referred to as little tokyo). This hotel had really great service and the breakfast was amazing! There was even sushi and sashimi which were both delicious. Rooms were very clean although a little on the smaller side (didn't bother us but is a good thing to keep in mind. Absolutely loved our stay here. Would definitely recommend"

"Oscar Saigon Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's main business, tourist and commercial area. The hotel is mainly on the Nguyen Hue boulevard where the lights are strung across the road from Saigon Trading going towards the river for New Year holiday, especially near the Sunwah building (2 min. walking distance from the Oscar hotel) they put a sound stage up for wonderfully, colorfully, and chaostic lively musical New Year's eve celebration. The Oscar Hotel is offered free international banquet with the live band in the lobby hall Room is very clean, furnished, and modern amenities but small size, even the bath room which is a tiny compact area. However, the staffs are nicely, friendly, and helpful. Guest can check-out late if crowned. The Blue Sky Restaurant (top level) serves free breakfast with the delicious more choices of Asian, international, and Vietnamese cuisines, especially the Vietnamese noodle soup. As of New Year's eve 2010, with the charge of $63+/night totally, this hotel was a great value comparing with all 4 stars hotels in the district 1 area, especially on the main street of Nguyen Hue. "
