I have one complaint. Last year, we stayed at the hotel. I had been asked to visit the Penang Club, of which I am a member, to present my autobiography. While there, in the first ten days in September, 2011, I visited the Bombay Shop, in the Victory Annexe arcade, in the E&O Hotel, and presented the Indian lady there with a signed copy of my book, "Life is what you ...I have one complaint. While there, in the first ten days in September, 2011, I visited the Bombay Shop, in the Victory Annexe arcade, in the E&O Hotel, and presented the Indian lady there with a signed copy of my book, "Life is what you make it", which contains references to the E&O Hotel, with some pictures taken in the ballroom, in the autobiographical section on Penang. She said that she would like 12 or 5 copies to sell and I said that I would make inquiries of the publisher, Melrose Books. I did so, and wrote to the Bombay Shop with my findings, on 12th December, 2011. I received no reply, and, on 17th August, 2012, wrote again, enclosing a copy of the previously letter, and saying that my wife and I would be visiting Penang from 30th August until 7th September, 2012. I offered to bring with me 12 or 5 copies of the book to save on postage. No reply had been received by the time we left and so I packed five copies of the book as we were reaching the baggage weight limits. I had hoped that I would replace them with a copy of your book, "E&O Hotel; The Pearl of Penang". On visiting the Bombay Shop, however, the Bombay Shop Supervisor, Merlene Narcis, told me that she would not buy any of my books, and when we arrived back home, there was an email dated 29 August 2012 waiting for me stating that "I just received your letter and I would like to inform you that we are unable to purchase your books. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused as I do not remember that I have made any agreement with you with regards to the books." Obviously, to prevent excess baggage, I could not purchase "E&O Hotel; The Pearl of Penang". I am annoyed by the non-response to my previous letters, and by the implication that what I stated was untrue. Copies of my letters are available for your perusal.

Happy and memorable trip for us. Prior to our arrival, wrote to hotel that we need 2 traders club connecting rooms as we have young children, and they noted our requests. When we arrived at Traders Hotel with our children and luggage, we forgot our Maclaren stroller. We left it at the Penang airport! We panicked and a concierge heard and assured us that they wou...Happy and memorable trip for us. Prior to our arrival, wrote to hotel that we need 2 traders club connecting rooms as we have young children, and they noted our requests. When we arrived at Traders Hotel with our children and luggage, we forgot our Maclaren stroller. We left it at the Penang airport! We panicked and a concierge heard and assured us that they would handle it for us. They called many times but no response from airport. The next day, we spoke and met friendly and thoughtful Ms Nasha (Office Manager) who called the airport, informed us that airport staff has found our child's stroller, arranged their contact to retrieve the stroller with our letter at the airport. We paid the transport/fees to the hotel, and were relieved to have our Maclaren stroller back on 2nd day! As we booked traders club rooms, the pre-cocktail dinner was a nice surprise! Finger food and variety of drinks are good enough to fill our hungry tummies (young and old) from worrying about the stroller on 1st day (upon late arrival). The Traders club breakfast area is also very well managed by staff – quiet and relaxing breakfast with my children. Though short stay at Traders Penang, we had a very sweet and memorable trip. Shared our experience with many relatives and friends, and would totally support Traders hotel Penang in our future vacations.

Bus stop near by which has buses to reach various places of interest, such as Penang hill....and the hop-on-hop-off stop is nearby too. Shopping malls such as Time Square, Komtar and 1st Avenue are within walking distance. Too busy sight seeing and shopping :) no time to try ...First time to Penang. Hotel room included breakfast and the food come in various varieties. Too busy sight seeing and shopping :) no time to try out the various hotel facilities such as fitness room and swimming pool. Will still consider Sunway Hotel if I'm to visit Penang again.

Kalau ke penang bakalan nginap disini lagi, semua servicenya okee. Demi demi ke penang cuma untuk tinggal di suite ini. Lokasinya juga gak jauh dari kota. Kalau untuk ke mall kita paling habis RM 5 naik grab.

How would i compare between Jen Hotel and st gail wemberly? After staying here same room type excutive suites with club access. I would prefer Jen hotel. If you want a bathtub, all jen rooms on a club levels has bathtub whereas wemberly executive superior does not. 5 stars and friendly staff on the club lounge, young people with a good attitude for good customer servic...How would i compare between Jen Hotel and st gail wemberly? I got told off on the ground floor by the restarant staff because i went to seat in their brand new seating areas, to me if they dont want guest to seat there yet they should have signs advising areas not ready yet for seating. Anyway did not bother me but goes to show they still need improvement when come to hospitality. Get uber or grab app, so cheap to get around places eg. By grab to penang hills OR botanic garden cost 8MYR. Airport to hotel 23MYR. Be expected this hotel does not have anyone to help you with luggage or give you a welcome greetings i didnt care and i prefer to will my luggage myself. If you are a guest wanting that kind of service, be aware that this hotel does not provide such service. I arrived midnight, the security guard just talk amoungst themselves. I stay here 5nights and try to interact with hotel staff minimum as possible except for club lounge staff they are wonderful. If the price is right and cheaper than Jen hotel for the club rooms i would stay here again. Level 30 skybar not part of the hotel business indepently owned, be aware its not cheap if you want a drink or two. I already have a drink earlier in the hotel club lounge and decided to checked out the skybar you need to order a drink otherwise they wont let you in to see the views. Fair enough business is business

We are trying to look for a clean and comfortable room with good price while walking around Penang. Once we found Armenian, we thought that the prices will be really expensive. But once we get to know them, we realise that the price is quite affordable while the environment and services are really heart touching. Before we do the booking, the bring us to 3 rooms to have a look. They never hesitate to reply our doubts and questions. We feel like home coming as they treat us like an honourable guest although we have only done a booking for one night. Two thumbs up for Armenian and definitely 5 stars rate for overall services. The best out of the best.

Our stay at The Royale Bintang Penang Hotel was a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is very conveniently located to anything and everything you would want to see. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant also provides a very comprehensive and well rounded morning buffet. The manager who greeted and seated us was especi...Our stay at The Royale Bintang Penang Hotel was a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is very conveniently located to anything and everything you would want to see. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant also provides a very comprehensive and well rounded morning buffet. The manager who greeted and seated us was especially pleasant and it was a nice welcome. I would also like to say that management is also very pleasant. I wanted to mention this because we ran into a nicely dressed gentlemen who must have been the general manager in the elevator and then outside the restaurant. I am sorry I didn't get his name, but he took time to explain some of the history of his hotel. His warm and friendly manner was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to have a memorable stay in Penang.

At first i was a bit hesitant to booked in this hotel. By the name itself 1926 Heritage Hotel, it crossed my mine antique houses, of course! when its old it has something different. However it was a bit too late for me to looked for any other hotel online. (i.e. i booked the hotel less than a week before my flight to Penang from Johore. and because it was a late night ...At first i was a bit hesitant to booked in this hotel. By the name itself 1926 Heritage Hotel, it crossed my mine antique houses, of course! when its old it has something different. However it was a bit too late for me to looked for any other hotel online. (i.e. i booked the hotel less than a week before my flight to Penang from Johore. and because it was a late night flight. i decided to booked rather than look for a hotel by the time we got there ).But contrary to all my weird imagination.. the hotel's atmosphere is completely different. Once inside, i felt like im just a foot away from home. From accommodating staff to the room itself.. very nostalgic.. I also got the experience of being able to feel how governor used to live.Wow!!!truly high-class.. In the morning we had complimentary breakfast buffet style. Food is good. The location of the hotel is not so far away from Komtar (main bus station).. If your business is to mainly to (jalan-jalan)scout around, do sight seeing it is best to walk. Find and appreciate all other heritage buildings which are not even included in the brochure's map..once you do all the sight seeing, it is not so hard to find your way back to your hotel since buses passes in its main road.

Walking distance to Komtar (slow, leisurely walk takes about 20 minutes). There's free shuttle buses (City Area Transit aka CAT) near the hotel to Komtar with 15 minutes interval and a 24-hour Express convenient store within the hotel.

Quite new hotel. Room spacious and super clean. Bed are nice, spacious bathroom with hot shower. Value for money, easy to go anywhere georgetown area, penang hill, gurney, no hustle so far. No jammed so far. Travel using grab so easy at anytime. the negative: Inside hotel Coffee house/restaurant open until 6-7pm, so at nite if you are hungry you need to buy food outsi...Quite new hotel. Beside the hospital have mamak restaurant Kapitan. Not so bad. In the same hotel building at ground floor there is 7-eleven. My room is at 7th floor, room 707, because all floor are tiles, and brick walls, i can hear lift bells, people walk and talk quite loud because of the echo. its happen sometimes, depends of your room neighbor i guess. Maybe the hotel management need to do something about it. The door its not sound proof at all. thats all my review. Anyway we have fun in penang.

We stayed in Hotel Neo Plus Penang for the first 2 nights and were very reluctant to change to the next hotel. True enough, Neo Plus was way better than our second hotel in many areas like location, room size, and cleanliness, breakfast spread and facilities. Firstly, the location is excellent and is within walking distance to many attractions like Jalan Magazine, Jalan Armenian and best of all, it is very near (less than 10 mins walk) to the best Nasi Kandar stall in Georgetown, Deen Maju! Even when you use Grab or Uber, it will take you less than RM10 to reach Fort Cornwallis (depending on demand). Secondly, we got the family room that can accommodate the 3 of us, and it was spacious. The room looks spanking new and the toilet was clean and comfortable. From our room window, we could also see Komtar, the tallest building in Penang clearly and that was quite a sight to marvel at, especially at night. Thirdly, the breakfast spread was decent but tasted great. It will sure be able to satisfy your morning hunger and keep you energized for the later walk around Georgetown. The menu also changes during the two days we stayed at the hotel. Very simple fare like rice, noodles, sausage, chicken, salad spread, bread and buns, fruits, porridge, cereals and some others. They also have an egg station where you can order any type of egg you desire. Decent, simple but filling. Lastly, the swimming pool on the top floor can be considered small but the view was stunning. Be careful of the rough edges around the pool as it is rather sharp and not fitted properly. The management can perhaps install a drinks and snacks bar on top to make the place livelier. Other small mentions include the mini mart that is located in the hotel lobby, great for buying drinks and snacks. There is also a cafe at the ground floor and we received 1 complimentary drink each. The drink wasn't great but

1st time we came to Penang, we stayed here because of the location. It is at the very top of jalan penang and there are so many things around. Bars behind the hotel, places to eat within 2 minutes walk, street market within 3 minutes and at the end of the street market, shopping centers are pretty much accross the road! Although there are other hotels that are located on jalan penang itself, bayview still wins hands down on location. The fact that its at the top of the street means a slightly quieter atmosphere. I mean, you don't want to step out of the hotel 1st thing in the morning to see some locals sleeping on the street, do you? Because that's what you'd get if you stay at the hotels on jalan penang. The band they constantly have performing each night is very good too. Sometimes after a hot day walking around or shopping or whatever you do in penang, you just want to relax and have a drink or two and listen to the band singing your all time favourites and do shout outs when you request a song (or 10!). We came back to penang a year later. And even though we originally wanted to stay in a resort around batu ferringhi, we decided we loved bayview the 1st time and we'd show that appreciation by returning. And were we glad we did. We arrived in the island quite late and was exhausted. We checked in at about 11:30 pm and Izhan (forgot the spelling of the name) asked if this was our first time in penang, so we told him we were there the previous year. After what seemed like 5 seconds, he thanked us for returning to bayview and upgraded us from superior room to premier! That's not even the next level of room up (superior then deluxe then premier then suite). At 11:30 at night after a long flight, I don't ever remember having much energy but I was jumping up and down. So thank you! Overall, aside from location, value, facilities available and all other things they advertise, experience like mine is not something you always get at other hotels. Thumbs up

It's a great location for staying on Penang. You may not to worries about foods, drinks and entertainment. There has a convenience store just at the lobby and also, beside the hotel there got a shop selling few type of local product (example: Penang White Coffee and etc.). More, over there still have some food courts just nearby the hotel and around 16 minutes walk or ...It's a great location for staying on Penang. The front desk staff is excellent; the room was a 10+ rating. A perfect room with a good bed, full closet, fridge, safe deposit box, good TV, good size desk and chair with multiple electric plugs. An extra (soft) chair in the room and a good bed with four pillows. Bathroom with a full tub and excellent shower with good water pressure. Hot water in both the shower and sink. Fully stocked with all amenities. The in-house breakfast has a good selection, but the eggs, sausage and potatoes are always lukewarm at best. I hate cold foods for breakfast! The Wi-Fi is intermittent at best. I see no repeaters or Wi-Fi extenders in the hallways. Usually I get about 10 minutes from time to time then it disconnects. It seems that it usually disconnects right in the middle of me doing something important. I then go down the road to an internet café to send my important emails. We come to Penang every year (for 10 years now) and stay in hotels from 3 weeks to as much as 3 months. This was the first time at the Merchant Hotel. Even though the room is a five star room and the staff is great, I will never return because of the intermittent Wi-Fi.

GLOW Penang was really a surprise as when we booked the hotel, we knew it was 3 stars and thus managed our expectations accordingly. But honestly, GLOW should be rated 4 in terms of service, cleanliness and rooms. Their buffet breakfast was really good for a 3 star hotel. There were pastries, savouries (like rice or noodles) and cereals. Their scrambled eggs are aweso...GLOW Penang was really a surprise as when we booked the hotel, we knew it was 3 stars and thus managed our expectations accordingly. But honestly, GLOW should be rated 4 in terms of service, cleanliness and rooms. Their buffet breakfast was really good for a 3 star hotel. There were pastries, savouries (like rice or noodles) and cereals. Their scrambled eggs are awesome and keeps running out fast, so be sure to get yourself a generous scoop! They also had a pool and a pool bar, which my friend and I frequented for the ambience. Their in-room service was also efficient. When we checked in, there were no towels so we made a call to reception. We went out of our room after that. When we returned, we wanted to put a call to reception to remind them about the towels, but to our pleasant surprise the towels were already there. Impressive! One thing which I feel they could improve was to have 24-hour in-room dining. Yes there are a lot of eateries outside the hotel, and they have a restaurant from 9am to 5pm, but it'll be nice to have the option of munching something at night in the comfort of our room. But that's a small matter. I will definitely come back to GLOW on my next trip to Penang!

As i bring along my notebk, it only charges 12Rm for one day, it's acceptable for me. I found it's easy to walk around the hotel. nearby got Dr. sun yat sen Centre.u can discovery...it's the first time i try to stay in Tune Hotel in Penang. i found very comfortable, clean and new room. One night is in Tune hotel.It really 5 star hotel but only charges at 1 star price. Highly recommend u to stay in Tune hotel in Penang.

Throughtou...Le Dream hotel is THE hotel I wish to recommend to everyone seeing my post. It is located at a unglamour street at Georgetown but the hotel, staffs and room is one of the best I had encountered. When I arrived on day 1, I was greeted by the friendly staffs and their manager at counter, Rita Lee took the effort to remember my name and addressed me by my name. Throughtout my stay, I was greeted and addressed by my name. Ask yourself which hotel you had went to had greeted by your name throughout your stay even from day 1. Even 5 star hotels do not do that unless you are VIP. Location wise, once you are out of the hotel, round the corner there is a local coffeeshop. Opposite the hotel there cafe and restaurants. 5mins walk to Komtar bus terminal and Pragnin mall. 10mins walk to Penang street art and many museums around that area. Room is fantastic. Nice pillows, soft bed and bathroom comes with the traditional Japanese wooden bucket and stool for bathing. Love it so much. This hotel even provide free 2kg laundry and free happy hour drinks at their rooftop bar. A lot of guests are couples and I can sense the sweet looks on their face. If anyone wants to visit Penang, this is the hotel you should go.

Clean and comfortable. We stayed in Duplex with window. The room is spacious with one queen size bed and one flat bed at the ground floor. The amenities are basic (toothbrush, toothpa...One of the best stay in Penang. Strategically located in the middle of busy heritage site of Georgetown. I like the simple and modern design of the hotel. Antique decoration in the room. Clean and comfortable. We stayed in Duplex with window. The room is spacious with one queen size bed and one flat bed at the ground floor. The amenities are basic (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and body shampoo) but it is not a problem. The internet worked fine. The staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely comfortable cafe with superB ice-cream. Must try the special made ice-cream with local flavour which you cannot find else where. I high recommend this hotel to those who love to experience the true Penang heritage.

we booked a triple room with separate rooms, and it looked exactly as the pictures. the beds were comfy and clean, bathroom was also clean. I was actually very pleased to get the room with window facing straight to the street, but bcos Penang was extremely hot during our visit (33 to 34°C), the room's temp was not great. fortunately, the hotel provided us with addition...we booked a triple room with separate rooms, and it looked exactly as the pictures. the beds were comfy and clean, bathroom was also clean. I was actually very pleased to get the room with window facing straight to the street, but bcos Penang was extremely hot during our visit (33 to 34°C), the room's temp was not great. fortunately, the hotel provided us with additional cooler. the staff was also nice to let us checked in earlier (around 12pm), and gave us a late check-out too, until 1.30pm. deposit was 100 RM, and 12 RM per night for tax, which you will pay when you checked in. location and its surroundings were good, not too noisy at night, and just a little walk to ride the CAT free bus (alight from Nasi Kandar Pelita). all in all, me and my parents were satisfied during our stay at Eton Hotel :)

Safe & pleasant to walk & find the Landry shop where my ancestors set foot in Penang ie Kuala Kangsar Road. Found the “past neighbourhood still full of energy & activities” like the butcher & sundry shop. Convenient location to retrace my childhood memories of shopping in Campbell Street, watch movies in the Cathay & Odeon cinemas, eating road side stalls along Kimberl...Safe & pleasant to walk & find the Landry shop where my ancestors set foot in Penang ie Kuala Kangsar Road. Found the “past neighbourhood still full of energy & activities” like the butcher & sundry shop. Convenient location to retrace my childhood memories of shopping in Campbell Street, watch movies in the Cathay & Odeon cinemas, eating road side stalls along Kimberly Lane & the chendol along Penang Road. This location is most ideal & strategic to complete my purpose. Staff is overly polite to assist & most helpful even to book a Grab to my next stay, Hotel G in Gurney. Love this row of old houses with high ceiling to create a serene & tranquil atmosphere. Nostalgic even because this lobby was the house of my schoolmate in the 1970. The room was more than adequate with delightful ancient touches, especially with the flip open windows and the most surprising ceiling fan. I enjoyed my 3D2N stay in Areca Hotel most wonderfully. Feels just like a top end four star hotel less the swimming pool. Great location - walking distance to Penang road where all the local shops for the cheap sleepwear, t shirts & jerseys, medical oils, five spice powders & tau sar piahs. Not forgetting the famous laska, cendol stand and nasi kandar shop yummy just located 10mins away from the hotel. The night food centre too also 10 mins away. If it was easy access for me with a overactive kid & a wheelchair bound, you all will love the place. Lastly, my 5 year old son discovered a penang rapid bus travelling from the hotel to komtar & batu ferringi (sun shine coast with horse riding) & gurdey drive for RM1.50. Will definately be back with my work buddies!

Great location in Georgetown penang. Hotel has its own unique flavor and most importantly the room and toilet was clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff, check in and out was fast as well. Read some reviews that you can hear some karaoke going on but I found it to be very tolerable during my time there. To sum it up, I will definitely book this hotel again when I visit penang again.

The whole room and the washroom are equipped with bright light. Clear TV channel too ! And the bed is so comfy & lovely enough for couples . About the location , it is located strategically and super near to tourist spots (wall arts) , restaurants (the famous Nasi Kandar Beratur & Jawi house) , food streets (Chulia Street) , cafés (longest café in Penang-ChinaHouse) and there is a reflexology shop which open until 12am (good service with reasonable price) . All are reachable in walking distance . Nearby also have a bicycles station which you can rent it and hourly charged . **We prefer to use UBER and GRAB in Penang due to the traffic . You can easily call for cab around this Armenian Street .
