the hotel is located at the best location in Riyue tan with breath taking view. The hotel is decorated with good taste and staff is friendly. One area that needs improvement is the swimming pool area in 12F, we visited the pool on Apr 16, we found the dead frog and leafs floating in the hot pool, we mentioned to the staff, he ignored us and continued to play his cell phone. In my view, the swimming pool is one of selling point of the hotel, this area should be well maintained, at least the staff should clean it before opening to the public.

It is highly recommended to book a lake view room during your stay in Sun Moon Lake. It is especially calm & relaxing during the night. I am not sure about other hotel, but all rooms at this hotel will have their balcony light off automatically at 10pm, should be for visitor to better enjoy the calmness of the lake? Not sure about that though. Another plus point is that the hotel provide several in-house games/activities such as basketball machine, billiard, Ice-hockey table, X-box & Wii player. Personally, I love the breakfast served! Wide variety with a mixed of Chinese & Western style. However, the location is not the best among hotel in Sun Moon Lake. We have to take a five min shuttle bus to the "central" of Sun moon lake where all the local eateries and public transport are located at. Alternatively, you can walk which take round 15-20 min.

Seriously i cant think of any negative points about this hotel. Even if have, its should be those minor ones that you wont go bother it. Location is execellent, just less than 5min walk to the pier, out of lobby, right side 7-11, left side is some small bites till about 12-1am. The Breakfast of the hotel is seriously great. After eating a fabulous breakfast and you can start your day trip. Hotel staff is helpful and kind. Just go ahead and ask them any queries and they will provide their best to help you.

It is just a 5 to 10 minute walk to the pier and restaurants, so guests can enjoy the convenience while being excused from the hustle and bustle in the most hectic area. There were free bottled juice in the fridge --- very nice. Guests are highly recommended to stay there for the buffet dinner -- lots of choices and the food was fresh. Joining the firefly tour is a must --- we saw millions of fireflies and the scene was like the decoration lights beaming on a Christmas tree. It was an amazing experience! This hotel is something guests who want to chill out at Sun-Moon-Lake cannot miss!

The hotel is slightly worn along the edges but the cleanliness is good, just that its definitely not new. The view is absolutely gorgeous and the price of the room does really justify it. We stayed in a Japanese styled room with lake view. The room ambience and the lake view matched perfectly, making us feel like we were in Japan. The staff tried their very best to be accomodating and offered great service but the hotel was very full, thus we had to line up for some time for the buffet dinner which was a little odd considering the extravagant price that we paid for. Nevertheless the hotel did their best, and they even had an excellent band performance.

If you’re planning to stay in SML, Ita Thao is the best location to stay because it’s the most “touristy” place I would say. It’s really close to the Formosan Aboriginal village which I loved. This hotel is the best hotel to stay in for the price paid. It has a beautiful lake view which is so close to the pier hence you get to take in all the view and whatever is happening downstairs. Unlike many hotels that we walked past which seemed to be so far from everything that it kinda winds and dies down towards the evening cuz you don’t know what’s going on. So near to food. Breakfast had a good spread and was delicious but the best part of it that it’s free :’). The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating, although my Friend and I are mandarin speaking so I can’t say for non mandarin speaking guests. But they are so nice that it’s nothing Google translate can’t help. A lot of the attractions in SML can be easily obtained/inquired at front desk. The room is comfy and spacious enough though not exactly luxurious. Overall, loved my stay there ❤️

This hotel is very close to the pier that is the starter point of our journey in sun moon lake. The staffs are good in English and very helpful during the trip and after we check out. We forget the jacket in the room and request them to send us back to the hotel in Taipei and they do it for us. That's a very appreciated service. Highly recommend. By the way, if your group have an elderly person, I recommend asking about the bathroom first because they have quite a high bathtub that may cause of falling.

My girlfriend and I stayed on the 6th floor in a very spacious suite with a king bed. The hotel itself has a nice dining room for breakfast and dinner, which we received complimentary during our stay each day. The meals were decent and very filling. There's also a small fitness room and a bar downstairs. The entire hotel was impeccably clean, although a bit dated. The staff is always there to help and was friendly, fulfilling every one of our requests. They were very helpful in recommending what we should do nearby and making our stay comfortable. The room itself was also very clean and spacious — large living area with couches, 2 TVs, a large standalone bath tub with air jets, bath salts provided (big plus for us), shower, and an advanced Toto toilet with heated seat. Lots of toiletries provided as well like razors. There was also a balcony with a table and chairs with awesome views! Free WiFi provided throughout the hotel. The room itself could use a few minor fixes here and there, but in general was great. The location is phenomenal — a few steps from the pier where you can access ferries across the lake (we were in the off season, but the hotel offered daily unlimited tickets for just $100NT!), the town itself is a bit sleepy, but all kinds of shops for trinkets and food. There's a handy 7-Eleven open 24 hours right around the corner. The aboriginal village and theme park is a great place to go and the gondola picks near the hotel (about a 10-15 min walk). This area was nicer than the main port where shuttles drop off visitors, as it was less "tourist-y" and a bit quieter. We did have to go across the lake into the main port for more lunch options though. Overall, we had a very pleasant, peaceful, and relaxing stay. We highly recommend this hotel and the suite room!!

I love the smell of this hotel. I recommend this hotel because it is situated at Pier 2 (opposite Pier 1 where you will arrive if you use bus from Taipei, train station or Hi speed Train Station). The boat ferries you around (there are 3 piers) for a whole day ticket (TWD300). We took a cab to go to the hotel (9km), and then for the rest of the trip we just use boat. They gave us a room overlooking the lake and it is so cozy. They have Nespresso in the room. Food spread is limited and could be done better. We bumped into the grand celebration where only vegetarians are served (once every 12 years). (Of course, we went out and looked for meat later :D). The hotel is close to the cable car, but we didn't take the cable car. I find it a bit weird to just ascend the hill instead of having the cable car across the lake or something. The cafe smells chlorine from the swimming pool below (it's an open pool). So we tend to dine in the faraway corner.

it was such a treat for the senses to stay at the lalu... calming, soothing, and quiet with every detail, from the architecture to the service. in our opinion, the best way to enjoy sun moon lake is from the massive patio of one of lalu's lakeview suites. things that stand out... our very warm welcome to the hotel nearly put me in tears by the time we were guided to our room to see the unbeatable view of the lake, music created especially for the hotel, the old bonsai tree on our patio, viewing and listening to the rain, very comfortable bed, borrowed art books from their library, hot bath overlooking lake from suite, cool dip in the heated infinity pool, delicious dinner at their western restaurant (we were told, headed by a canadian chef), a kind send off before we were shuttled back to the bus station.

We only stayed one night, but it was actually a really nice hotel. We chose a room with a lake view, which was seriously breathtaking. The patio made for the nicest mornings and evenings, relaxing with a good book while taking in the landscape. The rooms were super clean, fresh looking, though maybe not "new" based off a few signs of wear and tear, not only in the room but in the hotel as a whole. I only have two complaints: 1) we stayed on a Saturday night, and this young girl and her father were playing music on the pier below, which while it was super entertaining and enjoyable from 6-7 pm, it became a little unbearable and headache inducing from 7-9 pm when it finally ended. It's just so close to the hotel rooms, the music seems to be playing inside your own room. I literally had a headache after the third hour of non-stop playing. 2) the breakfast. The breakfast area was ok, you're only gonna have a nice table with a view if you get there early and line up. But the breakfast itself was just "meh". I'd suggest adding some more western options. We basically had cereal. I've lived in Taiwan for 10 months now, and I've gotten used to a lot. But waking up and eating french fries and noodles is something that I will never get used to. Some more sweet options would be nice. The hotel is not new or extravagant, but it's cozy and it has a great view of the lake. Service was also good. They held our luggage before check-in and after check-out. And they spoke a fair amount of English, and humored our mediocre Chinese. All in all, I'd give this an overall 4/5 stars!

The staff was incredible. We did not speak English and had to alter our reservation. They were very accommodating and they even comped dinner and breakfast for us which was greatly appreciated. The room was lovely. Beautiful window of the forest and comfortable bed. Only downside is it is a 20 minute walk from the pier and with luggage it can be a pain. This location would have been ideal if you had a car.

This Hotel offers pick up service and it is about 1.5km from the Tien centre where the bus dropped us off. We were greeted warmly by the reception who were all smiles. We got a free upgrade to a double bed room with partial view of the lake. The room was very clean and very spacious. We did not have any problems navigating the lake and we rented a scooter for 800TWD for 24 hour. The Hotel exceeded our expectation for the price. In the evening we joined the guided firefly walk hosted by the Hotel which was a nice experience and we saw many fireflies lighting up the woods, just a short walk away. This Hotel does provide free transfers to and from the pier and we were alighted at the bus station where we took a bus back to Taichung.

After full 4 days of travelling around Taiwan, we decided [[we booked in advanced before we arrived from recommendation on website in Thailand]] to spend a night in Sun Moon Lake and which hotel??? The given is, we want a hotel with bathtub to relax with a good price and Harobr Elite Hotel is a good choice, plus location not far from where we would get of the bus (with big luggage) so its quite easy although around the Shueishe pier not much interesting as the Ita thao pier.

Excellent hotel. Newly built and very clean. Breakfast buffet is at older Lealea gardens hotel 100 m down the road. Breakfast buffet is fine, not amazing, and offers mostly chinese style breakfast foods with some western fare. Restaurants, the waterfront pier, and the cable car are within 5 minute walk. The hotel is located on the Ithashao side of the lake. We enjoyed this side of the lake more - less touristy, less built up and more pleasant. If you are taking the Nantou long-distance bus to Sun Moon lake, you should know that the long-distance bus stop is on the other side of Sun Moon lake (Shuishe). You will either need to take a round-the-lake bus (~50 NT), boat (80-100 NT/person), or taxi (400-600 NT) to get here. The bus and boat run regularly. With kids and luggage they are manageable but not easy. Taxis are not always available - many come from nearby Puli - and if you absolutely need one I would call to arrange for one beforehand. TIP: turn right out of the hotel, then take a right 50m down the road at 'CCC coffee'. Here you will find a pleasant lakeside walking path down to the cable car.

A sister hotel of their bigger hotel facing the lake. This inn is located a 5mins walk away from the bigger hotel where the reception and breakfast are, amist the food street. Itao pier is relatively small so its easy to walk around everywhere. 30mins to cover the streets. Service and breakfast is great. Towel, shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush, razor provided. Only downside is Shower area is very small and anti slip mat is moldy.

The hotel is located at Ita Thao pier. If u took a bus from HSR station, u are very likely to be at the Shuishe pier. Just take a boat to reach the IT pier. Room and toilet are clean. Breakfast can be improved, they do not have much variety and consist of bread, porridge and some local dishes. The WiFi was particularly weak, could not connect to it from my room most of the time. The hotel is located at the hotspot where the night market/cable car/water activities are at. So book this place if you are planning to stay longer for convenience

Our stay coincides with the Sun Moon Lake Musical & Fireworks Festival leading to the runners’ marathon and so room price was relatively expensive. Our high-floor with lake view of the ferry boat jetty, expansive lake and painting-like mountains afar is simply a gorgeous view to behold! However it was a pity during our 2 day stay the clouds were blocking the sunrise due to the season. The room is definitely spacious enough for 2 travelers and the attached balcony although narrow in width sufficiently provided space to sit on a chair enjoying a sip of hot drinks while admiring the beautiful lake scenery. Due to the festivals we felt the hotel was inadequately staffed as our room’s house-keeping was skipped the next day. The waterflow lever transition between bath tap and showerhead was very different from the instructions pasted on the wall, perhaps it might help if the staff could advise on this issue during check-in.

Good budget accommodation for the area but nothing special about the room. The location is outstanding. Our bus dropped us off as the Shuishe visitor centre (the main tourist centre) and we could see the Minren Hotel across the road! The staff were nice and offered us an extra blanket as we were cold. It does get cold so consider closing the windows and keeping the building warm.
