"My wife and I stayed in a Queen Bed room for two nights on a Shikoku self-drive tour. This hotel is new and very nice. I am a fan of the Dormy Inn's as they are usually new, modern, located centrally, have free onsen and coffee, and ramen in late evenings. Our room was the usual smallish, but everything was new and clean. The bed, aircon, wifi were very good. Staff was very helpful. Onsen was a bonus - outdoor and indoor pools. Breakfast was standard and ok. It is located inside the pedestrian-only shopping street, and super convenient. Walking to the Castle ropeway took less than 10 minutes, and the tram stop to Dogo 3 minutes. But since the hotel is located in the pedestrian-only shopping street, you cannot reach the front door by car. We later found out that there is a door at the back where you can park for couple of minutes to drop off your luggage. Also, the hotel is so new that it is not registered on GPS, and the hotel associated carpark (not onsite) is not easy to find."

"Candeo Hotel Matsuyama is sited along the main shopping street where other hotels are sited. I've never tried them so I can't compare but I can tell you that Candeo Matsuyama is an excellent choice. The entrance is a bit hard to find. You share the same lift with the other mall guests because the hotel is only from the 5th to the 13th floor. The main lobby is on the topmost floor and so is the dining room and the community baths. they have their concept done right letting everyone of their users get the best views at the dining room (they have an excellent breakfast) and the common baths! The rooms are very clean and very comfortable and the service is impeccable. I got help with an air cleaner without hesitation. they market themselves as an eco hotel and it is indeed true. They let you choose your amenities instead of just giving it to you without question. Downstairs is a bookshop and then into a really lovely mall with a large grocery shop, a very good bakery and a foreign goods shop. Not to mention a large Onitsuke Tiger shop. There's food everywhere and Matsuyama castle's cable car entrance is just 10minutes walk away along a very cool street. I would stay there again if I visit the city for sure."
