do the mbk centre if you have a day spare to shop, its huge. dont miss chatuchak market a bit further out the city (take the sky train - mo chit station, this market sells everything and is where the locals shop for their shops. its far far cheaper than the shops and shopping centres and there is huge ranges of food. the night food market is a fantastic experience as is the palace. the patpong nightlife is not as sleazy as one thinks and is rather tame in relation to soi cowboy and other places. be careful of the massage places as some are extremely dirty and sex is offered to all and alot of places look like they have not been cleaned.beauty salons are cheap and there are some great ones offering day spas which is brilliant to relax after a long days walking about. dont pay more than 50 baht for a tuk tuk to anywhere around the city, and make sure you have a metered taxi if you use taxis. floating market is a must and remember one can go into any hotel and use the pool etc so there is a huge choice if you stay in a cheaper hotel but go next door to the 5 star and use the pool etc.

From the lobby to the breakfast area to the room, the decoration is beautiful and refreshing. Rooftop pool is nice but bit small for large crowd. Room is clean, bed is comfortable, view is the canal, not the main river. Location is great, 5-10 mins walking distance to night market in Khaosan Road and dining/massage in Soi Rambuttri and about 2km to the Grand Palace. Breakfast is alright but could do better with more choices.

I've been to BKK many times on business and really loved discovering this new hotel and neighborhood. A really adorable neighborhood with cute restaurants and bars and just a short walk to Khao San and Rambuttri road. It is great to stay a few blocks away though so you don't need to hear everything from your hotel room. The room was nice and clean and they serve an exceptional breakfast and have a very nice pool and gym on the roof. Will stay here again.

Service This is my second time to stay here. Before I stayed, I asked them that I would like to have a quiet room. They said yes, But they didn't offer. I had to stay on Rambuttri Alley view which is loud at night. Also I asked taxi but it doesn't use meter. So I gave up. Regarding breakfast, it was good. Swimming pool I used it at night. There are lots of bugs on the surface of the water because of light or something. Not that pleasant. But room is clean and neat. Location is perfect if you hang out on khaosan.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I was booking to stay right on Khao San road. I was only staying for one night so I wanted to be close to the action of bars, markets and good food. I wouldn't recommend this is you were staying for a week or so, the busyness and haggling could get a bit. However, this was perfect for a short stopover for a couple of nights. Walk down stairs and the street is packed from mid afternoon only getting fuller into the night with food stalls, shopping, massages, and bars. I was surprised with the standard of the interior, this is something I'm fairly particular about. The hotel room was huge with a giant four poster king bed in the middle. Everything was very clean and nice. I had read reviews on this hotel being loud, my room was the very last room in the hallway right on Khao San road. I heard the music start at about 3pm. When I returned for bed at 11 I could hear it quite well but once I popped some ear plugs in, I slept like a baby. I would definitely go back to this hotel. I had such a great experience in bangkok due to booking this hotel in this location.

We booked this hotel because we wanted to be relatively close to the tourist attractions and the nightlife of Khao San road, but not too close. It's a lovely modern hotel with some traditional Thai touches. The courtyard is open and you can hear the traffic from the busy road near the swimming pool. We didn't hear any traffic in the room itself however as it was well isolated. We didn't really have a nice view (the next-door alleyway), but we didn't care. We were out all day and most of the night anyways. We liked the breakfast. It is a small hotel so they don't have a huge amount of options but it was more than enough for my husband and me. They have bread, fresh jam, yogurt, cornflakes, different kinds of fruit, small sandwiches, and several hot dishes that change daily. They have tea, coffee and juice and you can also order a fried egg, scrambled egg or omelette with different toppings.

I've been staying at the Royal for 20 years. It is one of my favorite hotels in Thailand. My husband is Thai and we go home to visit his family often. We always include a stay at the Royal because we enjoy it so much. It's not a matter of cheap, because we also stay at the 5 star Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit which is our other fav hotel in Th. but for very different reasons. The quality of the rooms varies. The ones on the street side are larger but can be noisy. The rooms in the "new" building-it's probably about 10 years old now-lack the charm of the older part of the hotel. Yes I know the front desk staff can be a bit surly and they charge a key deposit and they won't give out more than one key per room, but there's a reason for all that. Many of the westerners who stay here behave as though they are entitled to I don't know what but I have seen some quite bad behavior over the years. Many are rather rude and demanding. They steal items from the hotel, they are often unkempt and dressed in ways the Thais find disrespectful or even offensive (especially the females). It doesn't take very long for the reception desk personnel to become jaded and defensive when dealing with Farangs like these. Despite all of that, if you can take the Thai approach to life (mai pen rai) and remember that you are staying in a very historic grand old palace of a hotel, that you could not have found a better location for sight-seeing, great food and access to transportation and that some of the best local Thai food is served right here in the restaurant ("this is real Thai taste" my husband always says)-not to mention live entertainment most nights-a great pool that is always crystal clear, a very nice breakfast buffet! I love this place.

Pros: Location to Khao San Road (if you're into that sort of thing) insanity for shock value. Comfortable bed. Large room. Affordability (more flashpacker vs. backpacker, for sure). Air condiditioner unit in room* Rooftop pool & bar Cons: *Our AC room unit malfunctioned after a few hours of checking in, so we were moved next door. A bit annoying, as my partner was sleeping, but all in all it took roughly 15 minutes and we even noticed a repairman looking at the unit on our way back down below. The rooftop pool and view is gorgeous, but I wish someone would keep an eye on splashing children (obnoxiously splashing and thrashing around!) and couples getting frisky. That was a bit much, even for Thailand. The rooftop bar was out of the two juices I wanted to order, no big deal. All in all, would stay here again if I wanted to stay ON Khao San Road, but it's Soi Rambuttri for me if I do want to stay in that area again. Make sure to request a 'quiet room' if you want something resembling it -- this is to avoid the noise from the bar upstairs and the mania on the street below.

Althought we stayed only for one night, the room was perfect: Very low cost room (amazing for the service you get and what they have to offer) Large and very comfortable room and bed Quiet, clean and very modern and new The staff was more than helpful, they are very attentive and nice. After our stay, they kept our luggages in a secure cage for free(with a lock, of course). They have a lot of hotel service to offer and a very good restaurant at the lobby. Its shows that this hotel is international and service oriented. The staff spoke very well english. 10-15 minutes walk from the Grand Palace and the temple. 5 minutes walk from a local night market with a lot of good restaurants. Really, nothing negative to say, very cheap, modern, and I would book all my future stay in Bangkok at this hotel.

It is so far the best hotel I've stayed in for years. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights when we first came to Bangkok and booked this because of the Jacuzzi and the really nice design of the room. But it's much more than that. The hotel is superbly clean and staff are extremely friendly, and it's just a stone's away from great food and bars in Rambuttri and Khao San road. Definitely recommended for couples on vacation!

Casa Nithra Bangkok Thailand Overview: stayed for 3 nights In January 2018, booked though Agoda and received a good deal considering location and reviews. Location: excellent location about 12 minute walk to Kho San Road yet still far enough away if that's not your thing. Very very busy main road and a few guests complained during our stay asking to be moved rooms. Easy access to all tourist sites. Regular taxis and Tuk Tuks available outside the hotel. Check in: we arrived at quite a. Yay time and had to wait almost 30minutes to check in which you really do t need after a 15 hour flight. We where greeted with warm towels and cold Thai tea while we waited which was a nice touch. Room: we paid for a superior room which was lovely, the key you are given activates the lights and aircon, thus meaning the Aircon had not been on the room was around 30*c when we entered. Just like opening an oven door. Mini bar is quite expensive. Water is provided which is a great touch considering the humidity outside. Milk or creamer is not provided so we had to go and buy milk so we could have a cup of tea in the morning. Room service: ordered this on our second night after a full day of exploring, couldn't face going out. All I can say is amazing!! Ordered and arrived very quick, very reasonably priced for room service. Breakfast: our booking included breakfast, this is served between 6:30-10 in the main restaurant, good variety of food served from bacon and eggs to Thai curries etc. Wide selection of fruit. Only down side is that you don't get served anything, 3 members of staff stood behind bar but you have to do up and get your own coffee milk etc, I know you serve yourself at buffet for food but never stayed in hotel where you get your own coffee!! Coffee was very rarely ready and I feel it's not only me but coffee is the most important thing in the morning. Should I return to Bangkok I would stay at this hotel again.

Let me start with the good, I really did enjoy my stay here. It's in a unique location and the land has a neat history. The hotel itself is very scenic. Staff are friendly and try their best to facilitate your needs. The rooms are very well priced and I'd gladly recommend this hotel to anyone. All my complaints are relatively minor. When I arrived it turned out that my booking was mixed up somehow, instead of one bed for us the request on their end said two beds. No idea why, my PDF booking said one large bed. Then they asked my wife if her name was Jennifer (it's not). Later had my wife asking "Who's Jennifer?" The water was never hot, just warm. When I asked the cleaning lady to give my wife and me 2 minutes, she said okay and just never cleaned the room. The sound on the TV didn't work for 2 days, after the first day a maintenance man was sent to check it but I have no idea what came of that because when we returned that day it still wasn't working. All and all, we loved our stay.

RIkka Inn was the perfect place to stay! If you are interested in being near all the action of Khao San Road- this is it! However, this place was surprisingly very quiet- The hotel was right in the middle of Khao San Road but kind of set back in a way and it seemed as though most rooms were away from the street noises. I stayed there 2 nights at the beginning of my trip and one night at the very end of the trip and was glad i did. Great reception- we were to arrive at 11pm but didnt arrive till 4am due to flight delay- this wasn't a problem- our room was basic, but extremely clean and had a unique feeling (interesting decor)- comfortable beds- Most showers in Thailand were like the ones at Rikka Inn- a shower that is in the bathroom directly over the toilet- so you pretty much get the entire bathroom wet -dont forget to remove the toilet paper! Kind of annoying but we found this standard unless you are at a fancy hotel/resort where there are more western style showers- But good water pressure/hot water- excellent rooftop pool/showers/bathroom- We used on our last day and they held our bags for us for the day (20 baht/day) since we had a late departure out of Bangkok- Just outside of reception is a adorable coffee shop- some of the best i had in Bangkok- and delicious breakfast sandwiches/fruit- 7-11 also right there for any other needs as well- If you are looking to stay on Khao San Road this is absolutely the place!!! 100% recommended

I'm stayed here around 5 days and the hotel staff provided me a very good service and best memory. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. They give me a feel like back to home when the time I stayed there. Some more the staff will arranged the taxi for you to the airport without any additional charge. The breakfast here is very special and delicious (Local Thai Breakfast). The hotel environment is very relaxing and British Colombia feel. Hotel is very near Khaosan Road and can go there for night market shopping. Even go to city area also not that far.(By taxi roughly 10 to 15 min around 100 Thai bath). I will go back to stay if I travel to Bangkok again. Good Hotel, Good Service and Good Foods !!

Our stay at the New Siam Palace View was our second place we booked in Thailand. I'll will write all the details and our experience as best as possible. At arriving at the New Siam Palace View, we check-in at midday for our 3 night stay. The staff was very nice, friendly and very helpful. They ask for our passport to get a copy and 500 baht, a refundable amount. Just a security deposit in case the person breaks something or something is missing from the room. They gave us our passports back, the key to our room, a few vouchers for fruit shakes and two vouchers with the Wi-Fi information. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Never had a problem with it. We then went to our room and it was small, comfortable and the A/C took a few minutes to cool the room but after that it was very nice. The view from our balcony was, well, old buildings. No river view and the balcony was very small. We didn't care about that. The bathroom was basic but with everything we needed. It had a closet with a safe, tv, a small desk with mirror and a fridge with cold water bottles. After eating so much Thai food we decided to give a try to their breakfast and it did not disappoint at all. It was very good and their fruit shakes are good also. You can get a good breakfast at the lobby for 100 or 200 baht. For us, the location was excellent because it was very close the Khao San Road but really quiet. It was peaceful at night. You couldn't hear any noise from Khao San Road at all. So if you want a place to get a good night sleep but be near all the action this is the place. There is a shortcut to get to the Khao San Road from the hotel and while you are at it you will walk through local markets, stores and restaurants. The other reason we like this location was because it's close to all the temples, landmarks and touristic spots that are nearby so that's a big plus for us. If I go to Kaosan again, then I'll use this Hotel again. I've never been to other Hotel in Kaosan, but I'm sure this Dewan is better. Even if this hotel is close to the kaosan and Rambuttri load in the room I can meet real silence. But on root top swiming pool I can feel the sound of the passion from Rambuttri load. Good to approach Kaosan and grab a taxi because this place is close to intersection.

hotel de moc is in a quiet leafy location,set back from the main street so it's a great place to rest after a hot day's sightseeing. there is also a lovely outdoor pool,deckside chairs and massage centre for relaxing. complimentary tuktuk service to nearby khaosan road although i enjoyed the short walk there past canal houses,gorgeous temple across the road,street sellers and seeing daily bangkok life. the hotel staff were always professional, friendly and helpful with calling for tuktuk,taxis, and finally my shuttle bus back to airport for only! restaurant breakfast and dinner menu was delicious, great fruit smoothies; though of course there are many cheap-eats outside everywhere. around the corner is the best 'old-school' cafe/tea house where you can join locals for sweet iced coffee,a pot of tea or even egg-y breakfasts.

We've stayed in Tara Place for 4 nights last week with our 16-year old son and had a comfortable triple room with separation door. Rooms are clean and everything is relatively new, as Tara Place only opened its doors in November 2012. Breakfast is right around the corner in a nice little bar and it's just a 10 minute walk up to the famous Khao San Road and Rambuttri Road where you will find delicious Thai (street) food among many other things. However, the greatest thing about Tara Place is the personnel, that always has a smile for you and is ready to get you whatever you need. That is what makes this hotel a great place to stay when you arrive in Bangkok. We definately will be back.

Hotel is located in Soi Rambuttri, which is near Khao San Road, though Soi Rambuttri itself has far more character than Khao san. There is a 711 right outside the hotel so that comes in handy during late nights and walking around the area. The rooms are fairly new and well maintained.The bed is comfortable. The AC, TV, fridge also comes with the deluxe room which I think is a good value for the hotel price. Guests can also take a dip at the hotel rooftop pool. The hotel staff though could use a little customer service, perhaps because of the sheer volume of travellers they encounter they tend to come across as too straighforward and impolite. Contrary to family run guesthouses where staff are more sincere and eager to go out of their way to help you out. Overall, this hotel is a good option to travellers who seek basic hotel comforts but don't want to spend that much money in a hotel.

I hate to give a positive review because more people will stay here. Best mattresses I've found on Khao San road. The secret is out. The pool is nice. Breakfast is across the street at Dang Derm. make sure you get your tickets at the front desk in the morning . Ask for wifi password before you leave the front desk or you'll be back down in the lobby. Stand in the right line when checking in else you'll be trying to check into D&D inn. Don't act like arrogant Eurotrash when you're checking in. we know you've had a long flight, your mosquito bites are itchy and your butt is sore. Realize these employees have to deal with 100s of people everyday. Being pleasant will get you much further than not. Don't deal with the Indian tailor right outside the door. His name is David and he is a thief and his clothes are inferior.

We have been pleasantly surprised by the Trang Hotel. The staff is nice, including the cleaning ladies. They always smile. We booked the superior room, but have been upgraded to premium superior. The price through Agoda is very good value for money. A big and deep swimming, with barely anyone inside. We swam many times alone. The breakfast is included, there are asian food (rice and noodles) and continental food (bread, jam, butter, ham, sausage, eggs), there are also orange juice (not that great) and tea and coffee. It is not super good food, but correct enough to give you a boost at the start of the day. The premium superior rooms have balcony with view on the garden, so quiet during the night. We can hear the people having breakfast in the morning, but not annoying. The other rooms have view i believe outside, but not sure. Flat TV screen with USB plug, if you fancy a film. Nice bathroom with hot shower. Plenty of storage. I haven't seen the standard nor the superior rooms, but i would recommend the premiums. We feel at home ! The wifi works well too, and you can even work on your laptop near the swimming pool The Khao San road (tourists road) is 10 min walk, and there are buses which goes straight to Hualamphong train station. Shame there is no BTS or MRT station nearby, but if you are 2 or more, it is worth to take the taxi cost wise anyway. So glad with this hotel that we will come back next week but this time with my parents-in-law and I will update their opinion on Agoda

Rambuttri is a mix of restaurants and bars and this hotel has rooms that overlook the road. We had a rock band playing til 3am close to our room, so ear plugs were needed. Nice, clean well priced hotel though and lovely staff. But note it’s a chain and there are two more villa cha cha hotels nearby. One more on rambuttri (bungalampoo) , which is 150m away,, has a pool and is a bit quieter,; and another on the road at the top end of rambuttri

The property was clean, if you want your room cleaned you need to let them know but it is no problem for them to do this. The rooms were clean upon arrival, the showers were hot with good water pressure. Air conditioner worked well, very well! Lots of space in the room. The pool was a great bonus for a cool dip after a hot afternoon of wandering. Restaurant was meh, lots of choices very close though. Location was awesome, backs on to Soi Rambuttri which is right by Khao San Road. Across the street from a river boat stop so access to all modes of transportation since the river boat connects with the skytrain. We initially booked for two days and ended up staying five.

I'd say this place exceeded my expectations, I've stayed in some boutique hotels which, while having great decor and facilities, still feel like a "hotel". But the atmosphere and staff at Bangkok Publishing Residence give you a very cozy and intimate feeling, while the overall decor and amenities feel luxurious but not pretentious. I especially love the rooftop garden where they grow the most delicious salad I've had in years! I'll surely comeback the next time I'm in Bangkok!

totally clean..friendly & helpfull staffs(all of them that i met). a little problem when i arrive at 11 PM and they can't find my booking number..still wondering how could my booking not listed. luckily i saw my name on their booking file (in a clear holder)! but anyway, staff on duty was really really helpful. We can find street food nearby by walkng 5min, grand palace & watpho can be reached just about 10min by taxi or tuktuk. location is quite easy to find. Golden mount temple just 15min walking (and it is a beautiful temple!) the only thing i can complain from this hotel is no slippers at room. overall, it was a really nice stay and worth it!

Hotel is situated behind soi which have really cheap local Thai food ranging from about 50thb. Phuket is indeed expensive and the average prices are 100-200thb. The next best restaurant is called PhukeTurk. Cheap and tasty. The night receptionist is really friendly and welcoming. The rooms perfectly clean and have all the amenities for long stay.... Huge fridge, clothes liner... U can wash yr clothes opposite the hotel.. There's a coin machine 30-50thb. Look no further... This hotel is simply the best in its class!

Was traveling with my significant other and we absolutely loved the hotel! The location is great! It’s right by the democracy monument so giving directions when taking a tuk-tuk or cab was easy, Khao San road and the golden mountain are just a few blocks away, and we quickly learned our was around the area. The staff was incredibly friendly and did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed. Everything was kept very clean and the housekeepers came by daily to tidy up our room, empty the trash bins, and give us fresh towels. They stocked the room with toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, q-tips, and more! Our room also had a mini fridge which was very convenient and we used it to keep our many bottles of water cold. We also loved that we could easily control the temperature in our room with a very nice air conditioning system. The only reason it doesn’t get a 5 Star for facilities is because there are a few minor inconveniences, but nothing big enough to ruin our stay! The main inconvenience was the fact that the toilet is extremely close to the sink. I am 5’6 and my boyfriend is 6’0 and we were hitting our knees on the sink every rim we had to go to the bathroom.
