"My wife and I decided to have a night "away" and checked into a Palace Signature Suite of the Palace Hotel Saigon. The room was a corner unit split into a living room and a bedroom. It had a small corner balcony and view of Nguyen Hue street, the Bitexco tower and a sliver of the Saigon River. A highlight of the room was the bathroom, that stretched the length of the living room and bedroom and included a small jacuzzi - something not found in other suites in this price range - bubble soap and view onto Nguyen Hue street through tinted windows included. Staff was extremely friendly. For example, they brought us two wine glasses within 2 minutes of our request. They even thought so far ahead and included a bottle opener despite not asking for one. We slept through breakfast, so I can't comment on the quality of the food, but breakfast was included. However, given its great location, there are many options - expensive and local - to get some food or simply a coffee. The best part was the price. We were able to get the Suite for about USD 112 (non-refundable) on Agoda, which was on par with standard rooms at the other 4-star+ hotels in the area, and far below the rates for their suites."

"We stayed in the new wing's executive suite for 4 days. It was a corner room. The room was a little dim but it was comfortable. We had an interactive tv set with keyboard in our room too. But what we liked most was that the hotel was on a quiet street. We didn't have to deal with the busy Saigon traffic and the best thing was that taxis were readily available at the hotel doorstep. There are many Japanese restaurants on the same street and a good spa across the hotel. I would definitely choose to stay in this hotel on my next trip to Saigon! "

"We got to the hotel quite late, so weren’t so keen on traipsing around at that point for a drink. Thankfully, after a smooth check-in, we found that the rooftop bar was open till about 2am so we managed to get a couple of drinks before bed. The room is clean and quite comfortable with all the amenities you would find in a good 4 star hotel. The breakfast buffet, was a decent spread of asian and western options which will keep you going till late afternoon. There is wifi through out the hotel, but it worked best at the roof top bar so you can put off your roaming and still be connected to the rest of the world. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the service at the bar/restaurants was pretty decent. When you do go out, you might need local currency and if you haven’t had the chance to exchange it, worry not because you can do so at the reception at a very good rate. The best aspect of the hotel for me was the location. The hotel is situated in the heart of District 1 and everything is walking distance from the hotel. You can find a city map in your room or at the reception and hold onto this for your trip, it’s very useful. Ranging from 5 to 20 minutes you can reach, the Ho Chi Minh city museum, War Reunification Palace, the War Remnant Museum, Notre Dam Cathedral, the Central Post Office, the Opera House, Ben Thanh market and even the riverside for a nice evening walk. You don’t feel like eating in the hotel, there are plenty of nice restaurants spread around the hotel ranging from local vietnamese pho to exotic french cuisines. There are quite a few bars around if you do take the effort to locate them if you want a good mix of the locals and expats. I however enjoyed drinking at the rooftop bar for nothing else but the fact that I was just knackered by the end of each day and didn’t have the energy to go out drinking. Everything is reasonably priced within the hotel as well. PS: Carry a bottle of water while you're out."

"The stay was very comfortable. It was such a nice hotel, well suited our needs; 1) Saigon Hotel staffs are very polite. We are allowed slightly early check-in. As we travel on Ramadhan, they even provide Halal breakfast pack for especially for us every early morning. 2) It is located opposite to the Ho Chi Minh Main Mosque, with few Halal restaurants around the same street. It makes it convenient for Muslim travellers. 3) Cab ride to spot places such as Ben Tanh market, Saigon Square, etc is just between 5-10 minutes taxi ride. 4) Convenient Store, ATM, are available on the same street. 5) Room was very clean, well equipped, well designed, and very comfortable for the price. Will surely stay here again in the future."

"The hotel and rooms are very clean. The breakfast is very, very good with lots of Western and Eastern options. The quality of the food is exceptional. The location is right in the center of District 1. The A/C works great. The staff speak English and are very nice. I make note of the following issue with Caravelle. 1. The water pressure and hot water availability was exceptional. However, in our room, the shower head was kind of cheap and didn't allow for a nice spray pattern. The shower head really only had a narrow stream. It would be nice if they upgraded their shower heads to a higher-quality that allowed a better spray pattern/more spray pattern options. After all, we are talking about a 5-star hotel here - right. 2. My wife and I attempted to enter the Gambling area on the second floor. It should be noted that this area is restricted to foreign passport holders only. While I was able to freely walk in (as I'm Caucasian and clearly not a local), my wife, who is of Vietnamese descent, but is a US citizen, was restricted from entry. While we advised the manger of the gambling facility (inside the Caravalle) that she was a US citizen, she was still not allowed to enter. I can understand their foreign policy for admittance (as gambling is not legal for local residents), this experience came across as discriminatory. We submitted a copy of our Passports to the Front Desk. The manager of Gambling facility could made an effort to contact the Front Desk to cross-check our background - but - was unwilling to do so. This reflects negatively on the Caravelle Hotel. I complained about this to Caravelle management. We received what we feel was an unsympathetic apology. Our stay here was brief. If I had more time I would have escalated or taken more action on this. 3. The staff were nice, friendly and spoke English well. However, I think they fall a little short of 5-star. 4. All this aside, I would definitely stay at the Caravelle again. "

"The hotel is right in the middle of the shopping district and within easy walking distance to all the best bars and restaurants. We were upgraded from the oriental suite we originally booked to a lovely large suite overlooking the opera. Service was terrific and the buffet was good as well. With all the construction of new hotels in the area this hotel needs to look at exploiting it historic value and decor and do a major update along the lines of the Hanoi Metropole or the Delhi Imperial hotel both of these hotels are five star and the Continental should follow the same path of these two hotels as there are many customers who would be willing to pay more money for a stay at a historic five star hotel. The renovation would not have to be a huge expense as this hotel has wonderful architecture it just needs the five star touch. The outside terrace in front should have rattan chairs and low tables and lots of potted plants and topiary and umbrellas.. The inside courtyard should be quieter make a separate service area and close the noisy windows as youi can hear the kitchen.. Again making an extensive garden with rattan chairs and lots of topiary and plants, potted box hedges etc. Other than these observations re really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. "

"Strictly speaking in terms of the hotel conditions, it was great. Centrally located, walks away from the shopping areas and dining areas. A very wide breakfast spread. The room was very very good. Definitely rated 5 stars for the room and bathroom. However, we were a little disappointed in the staff perfomance of this 5 star hotel. We requested to change our bedsheets because the flower petals caused my boyfriend to have an allergy. The receptionist doesnt seem to understand our simple english. Thus, language skills could be improved. Although it was a grand and nice hotel, we werent felt warmly welcome. (Because we were backpacking throughout Vietnam from Hanoi, all the way down to HCM). We just had a feeling that we do not suit into the hotel. Which was not a good feeling. Although we were carrying backpacks and does not look wealthy does not mean that we are not. This might be my own opinion, however, this is the truth that how we felt at the end of our stay. There is no initiative at all. Even for the bellboy at entrance. He didnt smile to us or say goodbye to us. While he was loading our bags to the taxi, he just spoke a few words in vietnamese to the driver and the driver looked at us and smirked. Definitely not a very good impression on the stay with Majestic Hotel even though they are a 5 star hotel. Our hotel at Hanoi - Calypso Hotel which is only a 3 stars hotel definitely exhibits the quality of a 5 star hotel. The service was way better than Majestic. This all serves as an opinion. Nothing wrong about the Hotel. It was a great building, grand and with huge bed, comfortable. But theservice definitely could be improve on. "

"This is my 1st solo travel experience of my lifetime! I picked This hotel as the price is reasonable and it consists all the facilities that I expect for my trip! The front desk lady-Ivy is very helpful and she can speak english! I’m allow to checked in earlier, this made my day as I took flight in the early morning and I didn’t sleep well before my flight to Ho Chi Mihn City. They served varieties breakfast, but not too much of green leaves served as I need fresh vegetables daily! All the staffs at lobby are very helpful! They keep telling you to be more alerts while you are alone on streets! Some of them are willingly to accompany me to wait for my grab bike just in front of their door steps! This is one of the lovely thing they do for a solo traveller lady! But I was a bit unhappy due to the next door occupants! Teenagers keep awake in the midnight and play with door bell , talking loud and banged doors all the times! These are not the hotel faults! Bad soundproof "
