The room of the hotel is relatively small compare to any hotels in other International Cities in Asia (compare to Bangkok, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore) but maybe it similiar to Hongkong Budget Hotel. The hotel located only 3 minutes to Nippori Station, this station can connect you to every cities (big or small) in Japan with affordable price. From the window of the hotel you can see the Nippori station activities. The facilities is relatively good, this hotel have ice machine, laundry machine with coins, microwave tools on 2nd floor. Living cost in Japan is quite expensive compare to living cost in Jakarta or any other Asia Cities. Tha't why I'm suggesting to you to manage all the expenses while live in any hotel in Tokyo.

Hotel Sardonyx is a business hotel located near both JR and Keisei Ueno Stations as well as Okachimachi and Ueno Stations on the Subway. This makes it a good base to do explorations within Tokyo or beyond Tokyo with the extensive JR network, making day trips to places like Yuzawa, Karuizawa and Saitama with the Tokyo Wide Pass very convenient. Located near Keisei Ueno Station also meant that you have easy access to Narita Airport via the Keisei Skyliner. Food-wise, there are plenty of options in the area and there are also major attractions like the Le Corbusier designed The National Museum of Western Art nearby as well as Ueno Zoo etc. I had a comfortable stay at the hotel, the shower water pressure is good and the bed is quite firm. The space isn't too tight either for a Tokyo hotel in the central area. In short, not bad for a hotel that is versatile as a base to explore Tokyo and beyond.

I would definitely recommend the APA Hotel Keisei Ueno-Ekimae to any traveler and I would stay there again. My single, non-smoking room was very small. However, it will not deter me from staying there again. The location is great! It is very convenient to travel to and from the Narita Airport via the Keisei Skyliner, The hotel was literally starring me in the face when I exited the back entrance of the Keisei Ueno station upon my arrival. This was excellent as I arrived at the hotel at night. Also, the JR station, with access to the Yamanote and other subway lines was extremely close, about a 3- 5 minute walk. It took no time (about 10- 15 minutes) to get to other areas of Tokyo for more sightseeing and fun. The Ueno Park, Ueno Zoo, many museums, shops, and restaurants are "right there." My room was clean and the bed felt good and soft (as I like it). The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, answered all of my questions, and were always smiling. The buffet breakfast and the meals at the restaurant that is attached to the hotel on the first floor is good as well.

Love staying in Ueno when visiting Tokyo. This is a new hotel so thought I'd try it. It did not disappoint at all! The hotel is just a few mins' walk from the Keisei station. Great location for food and shopping and all the subway stations nearby. It was so easy getting around. Hotel check in was a breeze. Took about 1 min. The optional breakfast is provided by the well-known cafe/restaurant Pronto located on the ground floor. Didn't try but it looked pretty good. Room was lovely and reasonably sized for Tokyo. Everything looked sleek and high-tech and clean. Staff were polite and helpful. Free wi-fi was good. Overall, of the 5-6 hotels I've tried, this is the best hotel in this price-range in Ueno.

We chose this hotel on a complete whim, as our flight back home from the Philippines had been delayed, causing us to have to spend the night in Tokyo. When we found out about the crazy price of cab fare from Narita to Tokyo (approx $350CAD) and the limited transit schedule, we had decided it would be best to stay in Tokyo instead of lazing around the hotel pool waiting for morning to come. The location was great, close to the Ueno rocket train station, and with lots of bars nearby. I think its worth noting, there were an obscene amount of gentlemen's clubs nearby as well, you know, if you're into that thing. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the breakfast was very satisfying. It was a good introduction to Tokyo, considering we didn't plan anything, or know where we were going. I would say though, if you do want to be where the action is, I would likely suggest a different neighbourhood, as this one seems a bit more laid back, and more like a local's area.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable. only few metres from JR Ueno. You can go around Tokyo easily using JR Yamanote Line or Tokyo Metro. And also Skyline from/to Narita is very convenient. Spa at the hotel is excellent. Love it! We booked Standard Double with Extra Bed so we stayed at the main building. No need to cross the street for spa. The room size is 15 Sq.m is quite too fit for 3 adults but we can take. It's Tokyo room size. We will stay here again for sure. Forgot to mention Yakunuku restaurant at ground floor is delicious. You got to try. Set Lunch is 1200+ for wagyu it's very ok price. We also had a good time walking through Ueno park to National Museum of Nature and Science. It's a place you have to visit apart from Temples and Shopping. Well, to conclude my review, we do recommend this hotel.

Hotel is located less than 5 minutes walk from Hibiya line Ueno station. Room is quite new and its a bit small but still ok for Tokyo standard. very close to Ameyoko market where you can find plenty of Izakayas and lots of delicious food. Mini market very close also. It's good that hotel provided complimentary breakfast even though its only bakeries, but they were all excellent. We booked 2 rooms and total of 5 nights at the hotel. if you like to be close to all the happenings, this would be the right hotel for you. We would definetely come back to this hotel next time we are in Tokyo.. Thank you hotel Wing International for making our trip a memorable one..

I recently stayed 5 nights in early February. To begin with, the only "negative" about the Tokyo UenoHotel is the fact that it's a budget hotel in Tokyo, which means the rooms aren't very big, especially for a couple (but that's something you should expect in Tokyo I gather). That being said, I purposely chose this hotel because it wasn't as expensive as other places, and all in all, I was very happy with the choice, and it ended up being my favorite hotel during my whole Japan trip. First off, for those unsure about staying in Ueno versus the flashier neighborhoods, I was extremely happy with my decision to stay in Ueno. The neighborhood gave a certain ambiance that was a bit more working-class compared to the glitzy neighborhoods like Shinjuku or Shibuya. I appreciated that ambiance, as it kind of made the place feel like home. Ueno has a great location with easy access to the Keisei Skyler/Main Line to Narita Airport, the JR Yamanote line, the subway, etc. While Ueno is probably 25-30 minutes away on the Yamanote Line from Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya, etc., it's also quite close to other areas tourists will probably go: Asakusa, Tokyo Station, the Imperial Gardens, Tokyo Dome/Bunkyo Civic Center, etc. Ueno is also fun in it's own right with the market, restaurants, and park nearby. It is about a 10-minute walk from the trains to the hotel, but once you learn the backstreets, you'll realize you're also a bit closer to the Tokyo National Museum and northern end of Ueno Park. In terms of the room specifically, it was small, but the bed was adequate with a really thick and warm comforter. The bathroom had a stunning view of the Tokyo Skytree, and the shower was powerful and hot, which felt good after a long day of sightseeing. One final note, as others have mentioned, skip the breakfast and eat somewhere else nearby. All in all, I'd stay here again.

There are alot of small restos around and just 12 mins. walk the ueno park adn zoo is already there. ameyoko also is near ueno park. good food. different varieties. Gkyukatsu motomura resto in ameyoko is a must try resto. small resto though but superb meat!!! I will surely go back to JAPAN and try some other mimaru tokyo hotel branches! the people are so nice and respectful. i love their culture and they all have discipline. and for those travelers who loves signature stuff,you should go to GINZA SIX in ginza. and right outside the mall is the largest 12 storey UNIQLO store. spent 4 hrs just browsing stuff to buy. over all I LOVE JAPAN. special mention to DIYA,NOW & ASUKA of mimaru tokyo ueno north for being so accommodating from our arrival to our departure. hugs and kisses!

I can't stress enough how convenient this place is, it's within walking distance to 3 train lines. Narita Airport is just less than an hour away via Keisei Skyliner! It's near Ameyoko Street, where you can buy food depending on your budget, and buy souvenirs as well. There's also a convenience store just beside it. The rooms are quite small, but that is expected in Tokyo, but they are new, very clean and well-equipped. Ueno Park, Ueno Zoo and the museums are all within walking distance too, just follow the guide map in JR Ueno station. I will definitely book this hotel again in my next visit!

I stayed here for 5 days as it is convenient to go to Ueno or Tokyo for shinkansen. The town of Ueno-Okachimachi is great for shopping both for fresh food (sashimi) and cheap cuisine and fashion. The hotel is a little bit behind the market zone so it is quiet at night. Hotel is clean inside and outside the room. Laundry service is available by 200 yen totally. The light in the room is yellow so it is not good for working inside at night. Staff is nice. Breakfast is not memorable and space to eat seems not enough during the crowded time (7 a.m.). The start time is 6:30 so I missed 2 breakfast 'cos I have to move in early morning. Comparing to cheap food outside, I'd better book without breakfast and eat outside.

In Ueno, there aren't many decent star rated hotels, this is one of the rare few. From Keisei skyline station (assuming you arrive at Narita airport), it's only a 10 minute walk, or a very short taxi ride (no more than 600 yen, or less). Hotel has room at decent size (for Japan), very clean, very helpful staffs at check in. Bed is comfortable with great pillow, room temperature can be adjusted by yourself. So it won't be to warm in winter like some other hotels in Japan with central air conditioning. Best thing is the location. Being in Ueno, you are in a very interesting part of Tokyo, with lots of choices for good food and some of the best bargain shopping in Tokyo. The nearby Ueno park is a great destination in itself for a full day of exploring, cheery blossom viewing, zoo with panda, art gallery, opera house, museums, several different temples to to boost. Ueno JR station is a great hub to explore the rest of Tokyo, metro train to nearby Akakusa. JR train to Tokyo for the bullet train etc. Going to and from the airport could not be easier, a straight 38 minute train ride only! Mistui garden is truly an ideal place to stay when in Tokyo for many reasons.

Hotel is perfect for a family of four - 4 comfy beds, kitchenette complete with all the accessories you would need to prepare light meals. Room is spotless and sanitary. The tub in the shower is amazing ang perfect for a soak after a tiring day of exploring the city! The staff has been very helpful from booking and assisting in early check in! Special mention to Bella at the front desk. Location is close to all restaurants, convenience stores and a 24hr grocery store. Very close to Ueno JR, Tokyo Metro and Skyliner and Ameyoko shopiing and eating destination! If you want a location that is quiet and away from the crowd this is the perfect location. Our stay in Mimaru will be remembered and we will definitely come back when we visit Tokyo again.

This is a great mix between a hostel and a hotel. The rooms are all private but they have shared bathrooms. This means that the price point is lower but the room quality and size are the same as a hotel. It's in a really great spot in Tokyo near Ueno Zoo, Ueno Park, National Museum and the Ameyoko Markets. They have a huge common area downstairs with tables, a giant TV, couches, an additional tatami room and an extremely well equipped kitchen. Basically everything you could ever want to cook your own food with 5 induction stovetops. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and all of them spoke fluent English. We had a 15 month old and all of the staff were very cheerful and always engaged her when they saw us. The front cafe area has travel books in multiple languages and you get one drink included in the price of your stay each day. All in all, an excellent place to stay especially if you have kids.

My first time booking a hotel in Tokyo and it was beyond my expectations - Hotel Parkside Tokyo in Ueno. The hotel is about 5 mins walk away from Ueno station and right in front of Ueno Park and still witness some Sakura flowers. We arrived a bit early and the checkin time is around 2 PM so we have to leave our luggages and we can do early checkin and just pay later and get the keys. The staff are very proper, friendly and courteous. Around the hotel you have many food options and restaurants to eat. Vending machines are also located in and around the hotel. Upon checkin our room is standard room and still got enough space for us to move. The room is complete of amenities, toiletries and replenished everyday. It has air-conditioning and heater. The double bed and blanket are very comfortable. The tub is huge. The view is Ueno skyline which is spectacular at night. The internet is fast. TV channels are mostly local. Overall, very happy and I will definitely book this one again. :=)

I have been in many capsule hotels in Tokyo and this one so far is the best. Stayed here last year and this year as well. It's still as great as it was. Location is great, very close to Ameyokocho and ueno station. The hotel itself is somehow has a unique and cool design and the capsule is comfortable(also it's not hot although I went at summer which is different from other capsules that I visited). Totally recommended!

the double room i had looked over the lake in ueno park so actually quiet enough to leave the window open at night - no all night drunks. the hotel is actually directly straight across the road from one of the exits (forget the name but to the right as leave platform) from the keisei ueno station off the skyliner from narita. so you absolutely cannot miss it . [frankly unless you want to stay near tokyo station why use the more expensive and slower nex service?]. ok the room was great, but there are some bad points too. the bathroom is a typical capsule type design (half of japanese hotel bathrooms are) but the fact that the towel rail is on the inside of the door somewhat limits access getting in - not to mention stepping over into the bathroom. the other really bad point is that wifi is only in the foyer. it worked one day on my laptop then refused to work again/connect for next 2 days. 2 mobile devices ipod and tablet worked ok but even the tablet also did not connect. if you intend to use the net a lot this is not the place other than casually checking email possibly. i have been to tokyo 5 times now and on last 2 times (overnighters really) have stayed at nippori, but the ueno location is so handy fro access to the yamanote line to go to places on the green line - virtually everywhere. i spent another 2 nights at another hotel in ueno that did have decent internet without problems - at kinuya net access in foyer is pretty cheap. however for that starter hotel when you just want to fall off the airport train its an unmissable location for first timers. be aware however that checkin is not til 2pm so if you are off a redeye flight do not get excited about falling into the shower for a while. go to ueno park and visit the zoo for a few hours instead, there are lots of other places tthere too - the tokyo national museum eto

The hotel was not that easy to find and he had to ask several people for directions from Ueno Station. The surrounding area is very quiet and the hotel is located along a very small alley. The staff (an elderly couple) were very friendly and spoke fairly good English. The room is small but comfortable and warm. The hotel offers a home-cooked breakfast for Y600 but we had no time for it unfortunately. The internet is fast and there is a PC available to use for free plus free coffee too. Ueno Station is 5-10 mins away on foot and even better, Ueno Park where the Cherry Blossoms are as well as the Tokyo National Museum is just 3 mins away from the station. We didn't see many food options around but we admittedly did not get to visit the south side of Ueno.

Extended my stay here. Theres a deposit of 1000 ¥ for the room card. You can rent electric bicycle at only 500 ¥ a day with a deposit of 3000 ¥. Room is basic. It has everything you need. Free toiletries, towels provided. Whatever is listed is what you get. Theres a kitchen at ground level next to the living area. Equipped with microwave and toaster. Coffee machine next to locker at ground floor dispensed the best latte at just 100 ¥. There are desktops for you to use. This is the best bargain for a budget hotel. I will definitely stay here on my next trip next month. By far the best budget hotel in tokyo. Not for those who are fussy. Service from the front desk ladies were excellent! Thank you Oak Hotel. Perfectly located (280m to Inaricho Station; 900m to Ueno station and thus, Ueno Park, Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo Science and Nature Museum, Ueno Zoo, Shinobazu Pond, etc.) so it was easy to get around. Quiet neighborhood with quaint houses and shrines. Plenty of convenience stores, groceries and restaurants nearby. Very clean and comfortable. We got a queen-sized bed for my family of three (seven year old). A wee bit tight but after a whole day of touring and commuting, we didn't really care haha. Pillows and mattresses were great. Room came with basic amenities: small ref with freezer, a desk, bedside panel to control lights, hot shower, bath tub, facial foam, shampoo, conditioner, and my favorite: pajamas! Our room was a bit small so can be a bit challenging if you have plenty of luggage (we had one large and two small). Staff is friendly and helpful. They loan out umbrellas on rainy days. Not for the traveler looking for amenities and facilities such as a gym or pool.

Staffs were polite and professional; not very fluent in English but good enough for us to understand. Very easy to access from Narita Airport (take Keisei Skyliner to Nippori OR Ueno Station, transfer to JR Line for Uguisudani Station and take the South exit. Hotel is literally around the corner from the train station, you can see it as you exit the train). The room isn't very big in general but being that it's Tokyo, it was big enough and had everything we needed including a nice bathtub. Location wasn't very busy and crowded, which we found to be quite nice after being swallowed up in the massive crowds in other areas of Tokyo. Nice walking distance to Tokyo National Museum (& tons of other museums), Ueno Zoo & Park and Ameyoko Shopping District. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but judging from our quick glances from outside as we passed by, the breakfast spread looked pretty decent. It looked like it was served buffet style and had a nice selection of dishes to choose from. There is a grocery store on the first floor and nice ramen shops and restaurants nearby. Cons: No wifi in room, only available in the hotel lobby on the 2nd floor. A little far from the very popular areas of Tokyo such as Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku (about 30 mins via train); however, this wasn't a big issue for us. Hotel was equipped with 2 washers and dryers; however, dryer was useless. After 3 cycles of drying with our clothes still completely wet, we decided to just lay out our clothes all over our room to dry. I suggest locating the nearest laundromat or using their laundry service (probably expensive) if you plan on staying long and need to get some things washed. =0)

We spent a wonderful time in Tokyo and this hotel was played an important role during the trip. I booked the hotel 6 months prior to the travel date via agoda and hotel management is aware of the booking. The hotel is allowed me to place my luggage at designated place as my flight was arrived in Tokyo at 7am in the morning (long before check in time) . Upon check in (also mentioned during booking time) we were reminded that some services need to be done ourselves (like exchange towels). The room was not big, good enough for 2 Asian adults and place to allocate things you shopped. Microwave oven, hair dryer, kettle, air conditioning and etc provided, no more no less. Environment : overall hotel environment is peace. We found no noise during our stay. Multiple convenient stores and restaurants around the hotel and within walking distance. Include the subway station too. We would like to come back again and this time will look for bigger room in Hotel Mystays.

Great value for the money paid. Hotel was in a quiet alley but only 5 mins from tokyo metro inaricho and 5-10 mins away from JR Ueno. Couple of convenience store nearby so no issue if you want a quick bite. If you want a bite in the middle of the night, there's the 24hrs ichiran ramen at JR ueno station. Its only a couple of stops from kappanbashi,asakusa,skytree,akihabara and tokyo so a pretty convenient place in terms for sightseeing. And not forgetting Keio Ueno with the keio skyliner is 10mins away only. Room is small but definately comfortable enough for a single man room. Only minus point is there are not really any space to open up your big sized lugguage. No room service but i actually prefer it as there's more privacy. Towels are provided for the number of days you planning to stay before you arrived. Some rooms has a small balcony as well. Theres a small and simply equipped kitchenette with an induction stove and kettle although i never really used it. You will need to do your own rubbish and used towels can be dropped in the laudry basket at the ground level, not an issue imo. There's also a coin laundry but its closed after 10pm....which is a shame cause i had to return before 8.30pm in order to finish my laundry on time. All in all its still a great value hotel and will definately place it high on my list if i do visit tokyo again.
