"Great hostel within walking distance of market and several cheap restaurants. Comfy beds with privacy curtains, lockers, personal lamp and light. Chilled but social atmosphere which is great for solo travellers. Small kitchenette available w/ fridge and microwave as well as free tea/coffee/water all day. Staff are very friendly and helpful - able to answer my numerous questions re: different options for getting to Laos as well as booking a taxi for us to visit the White Temple. Highly recommend!"

"we had thought three days (four nights at nak nakara) would be enough, but will have to come back. day one we spent in chiang rai, with a morning in wat phra kaeo which is associated with the emerald buddha. loveley gardens, a very interesting museum, plus murals and more. manageress mae arranged a car tour to the golden triangle for day two, and another the following day to see the white temple and two ceramics works... breakfast is included in the rate, cooked western style if preferred. we found the hotel well located - we like walking even if we have to cool off regularly in the hotel room. "We stayed in this hotel, we saw the reviews when we already booked and were afraid of what we would see... but it was nothing in what some negative reviews wrote. The new owner or manager did a great job! We had a family room which had the largest bed we had ever seen or slept in. It was 2,5 meters wide! It had soft sheets and had a good soft matras.. The room was very clean and tidy. The breakfast is great, the food was constantly provided when plates were empty. Staff very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in many hotels, you can compare it (if you know them) with a very good 5 star hotel in Turkey. I would recommend it to my friends, you will see for yourself if you are in the hotel... We visited 4 in a few hours after we took the bus to the white temple.. Easy walk to bus station. Great value for the money. "

"Greatest thing was Suvanna, the manager. She was extremely warm, friendly and helpful. I also really appreciated her English speaking skills. 2nd best was the pool that is long enough for laps. Poolside furniture was not very good. My room was very clean but the cleaner they use is toxic. I only let them clean my room once because the smell lingered for days. Breakfast buffet same everyday, mostly asia. Pancakes, French toast, peanut butter occasionally would have been nice. All in all, little pricey but nice place to stay."

"Shouldn’t compare to Bangkok hotels of the same stars but I have no complaints. My room (409) was immaculate. Good size with bathroom and separate shower room. Bit mean with bottles of drinking water and coffee making sachets. Breakfast more than acceptable. Restaurant very good value and choice. Staff were helpful and charming."

"Wanted to experience Northern Thailand and was in Chiang Mai for a week. Chiang Rai was an easy commute via Green Bus and Hi Chiang Rai was just around the corner from the bus stop. Lovely new hotel with a pool on the main floor with rooms over looking it. Rooms were clean and recently renovated so the hotel had that fresh feel to it. Easy to get around Chiang Rai from the hotel and just a short Grab to Wat Rong Kuhn (White Temple). There is also a daily shuttle you can catch that will take you to the Central Mall - nice touch."

"This is my first time at this hotel and it’s the best of the 3 hotels I have stayed in Chiang Rai. The location is very good in the centre of the traditional part of Chiang Rai. There are plenty of Thai and foreign restaurants nearby. The Night Bazaar is only 2 minutes’ walk and these markets are great affordable shopping with cheap eating options. The room was very pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is great with much variety. The staff are friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the airport is only 100 THB per person. The swimming pool is big and deep however, it is not suitable for non-swimmers and children. Even the shallow end is deeper than a young child. Supervision is essential. The hotel is popular for tour groups which means that the tourism industry sees this as value for money, but also means it can be very busy, especially with booming Chinese tourism. I have nothing to be disappointed about with my stay here."
