If you want to stay in one of the best hotels on offer in Bangkok you need to stay here. From the moment you are greeted, you know this is going to be something special, the staff are so attentive you can't fail to relax. As soon as you exit you taxi you are made to feel special, the staff are sincere when they say welcome. You enter the hotel and the opulence and splendour of the hotel hits you, breathtaking. Once booked in you are escorted to your room. Everything is explained to you by one of the beautiful receptionist, our butler was then introduced to us and then your left to look around. You have a balcony which looks over the river (I wouldn't want to swim in it) and Bangkok city. The room is beautiful, the non-alcoholic drinks in your mini-bar are free and endless. Obviously if you want an alcoholic drink they are readily available. The bathroom has a full bath, separate shower, bidet, toilet and sink. Soaps, creams, shower gel, shampoo, shower cap, toothbrush, toothpaste etc. etc. all available at no cost. The bed is super king in size and comfortable with it - 5 Star. The drapes are power driven at a touch of a button, the mood of the room can be arranged by the various lights available. His & Her bathrobes, plus matching slippers hang in the cupboard at your convenience. One criticism - there isn't sufficient drawer space for two people to use, The complimentary breakfast is ample as is the afternoon tea and canopies, followed by evening cocktails. Two pools are on offer for the residents of the Shangri-La Krungthep Wing, complimentary non alcoholic drinks are available throughout the day by the Krungthep Wing pool. You can choose to lounge around the Main pool if you wish, but the only free beverage here is water. However this is where the sun is shinning for most of the day (Obviously not if it's raining) Whereas the Krungthep Wing pool is shaded and has pockets of sunshine throughout the day. What can I say - This is place the place to stay!

I enjoyed my stay at AVANI. The staff was quite helpful and friendly. The hotel also shares a water taxi with the hotel in front of them (I figured this out myself, but would've liked to be informed), which takes you to BTS Station. From there you can take either the yellow or orange flag taxis to the Grand Palace other Wat Poh etc. If you want to book a day trip, the Concierge can assist, but going through the hotel will obviously cost you more than doing it online, yourself. The rooms had excellent views and there's nothing to complain about. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

Great genuine 5 star hotel. We booked the 2 bedroom suite with river views. It's a nice big room and the view is very good. So much going happening on the river you could enjoy watching it for hours. The staff in the hotel are very well trained and know what a 5 star hotel should be like. The head chef (could be Australian) was at both dinner and breakfast for the buffet and I can say it's one of the best around. Location wise it's nice to not be on a busy road in Bangkok and be able to be out on the balcony and hear yourself think. The hotel has a ferry service to the next closest BTS station which makes it easy to get to anywhere you want or just take a metre taxi which are very cheap in Bangkok.

After checking out dozens of options for 5 star hotels in Bangkok decided that the Marriot at Thonburi was the best option. We were not disappointed as the rooms,facilities and grounds were a delight to our family. We have 19 yr old twins and a 13 yr old so we felt relaxed and welcome at all times. In house restaurants exhorbitantly priced. Poolside not as expensive, but you can always eat out. Thoroughly recommended if you want to stay outside the melee of downtown areas. At first we were put into rooms facing the freeway but after approaching the front desk were able to be moved to face the garden area which also had views of the river. This was an unexpected bonus without having to pay more. Don`t hesitate to book at the Marriott Resort and Spa as this really made our stay in Bangkok . It`s worth the expense if you can afford it...much cheaper to book through Agoda.

This hotel was AMAZING, the best hotel experience I've ever had. We booked this for a 30th birthday celebration and specifically wanted this hotel mainly for the rooftop bar/restaurant and the incredible balconies. I had seen this on the Hangover movie and I'd spent months stalking them on instagram and by the time we came to depart I was worried that I had built it up too much and it was going to be a let down. I was SO wrong. From the second we stepped out of the car on arrival we were treated like VIP's, the staff were so incredibly lovely, they went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time, they sent me a total of THREE birthday cakes in our 5 day stay, and one of them was brought to us at our dinner at sirocco by about 5 staff all enthusiastically singing happy birthday. The location is perfect, the views are some of the best I've ever seen (upgrade to tower club river view TRUST ME) and the staff are ALL incredible. We would never stay any where else in Bangkok!

We loved this hotel. Slightly helped by the fact we were upgraded to a suite on the 55th floor upon our arrival!! Which was massive with stunning views of Bangkok! The hotel is incredibly grand, the staff incredibly attentive. This was our second time in Bangkok so we had already fore filled our touristy requirements and therefore didn't leave the hotel during the days. They have a pool (although gets shaded quickly) gym, sauna etc and several restaurants to dine. We pampered ourselves. The Lebua has always been popular but made enormous fame from The Hangover 2, which you can tell. Sky Bar is rammed!! You have to queue for drinks then wait for a space to see the views. We were going to eat in the Siricco restaurant by Sky Bar but I'm glad we didn't as people trying to dine are surrounded by cocktail drinkers there for their photo opportunity. It was much nicer watching the sunset from the privacy off our own balcony. The food here is amazing and the best breakfast spread I have ever seen.

Only minutes away from pat pong night market and Suan lum night bazaar this hotel has one of the best locations in Bangkok. It is next to the river where tourists can embark a boat to see all the riverside attractions such as wat Arun, Wat Po and the grand palace. Ground transport is also very convinient with the sky train just next door. The room was fantastic with a large king sized bed, a very stylish bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful with answering our questions. The breakfast spread was delightful with a wide variety of delicious food ranging from western to eastern. Would have been better if they included some of their local cuisine. Speaking of which, there are many food stalls nearby the hotel where you can find an array of tasty local food and snacks. Also the hotel is right above Robinsons and only a train ride away from Siam Paragon making shopping so convinient. I would definitely visit the hotel again if given the chance. I was a very pleasant stay.

I have stayed at 3 Hilton properties within a month: 5 days at Hilton Sukhumvit with family (which I have reviewed also on TA), 3 days at DoubleTree on a business trip and a day at the Millennium Hilton as a solo traveller. As I stayed at the Millennium Hilton last, my review will also have lots of comparisons against the previous two Hilton properties. Location: I find the location of the Millennium Hilton to be excellent. Even though you don't have a BTS and MRT right at the door step, the view you get from the hotel room, the executive lounge as well as the rooftop bar are simply breathtaking. I loved every aspect of it. The hotel also provides a private boat that transports you to Saphan Taksin BTS every 20 minutes throughout the day, as well as a separate boat to the touristy nightmarket, Asiatique from 6pm onwards. Room: I requested for a renovated executive king room and the hotel delivered. The room was in tip top condition and seemed to be very recently touched up as there is still a smell of thinner throughout the stay, as well as throughout the walkway outside my room. I won't fault the hotel for this as that is probably part and parcel of room renovations, but do take this in mind if you have breathing issues. Bed was big and comfortable. Most toiletries are also provided. I needed a comb for my stay so a magic phone call later, a comb was promptly delivered to my room. Awesome. One bad point about the bathroom - the toilet is simply not on the same level as the awesome Japanese version found at the Hilton Sukhumvit. Even though the room has been renovated, the hotel did not seem to have upgraded the toilet - it was just a simple toilet without even a bidet. Definitely room for improvement here. Moving on to the next, the bathroom. The rainshower is just OK. Compared to the large rainshower with super strong pressure at the Hilton Sukhumvit, this does not feel very luxurious. I will rate the rain shower here the 2nd best followed by a very weak

This was a very good business hotel. There are lots of amenities and restaurants and shops in the hotel making it very convenient. The location was nice: right on the water front next door to the riverside plaza shopping center, the Sheraton has another pier just next door for public boats going to Wat Pho/Royal Palace and other riverside sites. The Sheraton also had a free shuttle at its own private pier taking you south to another boat pier where you can get the free boat shuttle to the Asiatique shopping area which is terrific. The hotel room is very clean and a good standard size with comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with modern finishings. I felt safe and comfortable here. A few tips: if you don't wake up in time or miss breakfast go outside the hotel and just around the corner in the outside area between the hotel and the riverside plaza there is a great little French bakery there that makes delicious sandwiches (I got a crazy good tuna sandwich there). Another nice thing about this hotel is that there is a sky bridge connecting the hotel to the riverside plaza shopping center just next door where there are more shops and restaurants--you don't even need to go out in the heat if you don't want to! The Wat Traimit is only a 5 min cab ride away and most other main sites are accessible via the river. Overall I really enjoyed staying here and navigating the boat system to get around.

I loved every bit of it, i was a little worried since i booked it on a budget, but truly the hotel easily matches any 4 star hotel. It was a WOW experience. The hotel is located on the riverside, which has true stunning views of the chao praya river, both from the room and the garden outside where you can just laze on a chair overlooking the river or take the relaxing swim. the food was also great, we had buffet breakfast which had a pretty good spread of items.The room is minimalistic which was perfect for us since were travelling most of the time. transport: its a 5-7 min walk to the ferry, and from there you can take the chao praya daily pass which takes you to many of the attractions like wat arun, grand palace etc. its also close to the skytrain .good options to avoid traffic at peak times.There are plenty of fast food joints outside the hotel incase you want to sample something else. Plenty of good decent salons for a quick facial, mani/pedi, foot massage. Another thing to mention is that even if its a budget hotel, you will not have to put up with any kind nuisance like noise, unclean rooms etc There was only one negative that i would write- it would be great if the hotel had a boat to cross over to the other side of the river, as thats the starting/end point for most important ferries, it would save the walk to the ferry, which sometimes gets muddy if it rains.

We stayed at this property for 5 days in April 2018. It is centrally located in Bangkok and most of the famous sight seeings can be reached by public transport from here. The nearest BTS (Bangkok Skytrain) station is Krung Thon Buri is a mere 800m walk from here. You can use it to reach Chatuchak Weekend Market, MBK, Central World, Siam Paragon, Sukhumvit, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market. For 15 bahts you can reach Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Chinatown by the ferry at Sathorn Pier (ask anyone to guide you for it, a small walk which will take you to the other side of Sathorn Pier from where you can take a ferry to the main pier for 5 Bahts) There are bus stops also on the main road which can take you to many places. Suvarnabhumi Airport is far from here around 40 kms, so if you have a flight to take fro here keep approximately 1.5-2 hrs aside for it (The property can help you book a taxi for 500 bahts for Airport and other sightseeing places). For all Pizza fans there's a Dominos

The Oriental is a classic old world river hotel. While some may say the place is a bit tired with older elevators, rooms and style that hasn't really changed for decades, it's probably still worth it. The thing that makes the Oriental special is the life that passes through. The hotel still has people sitting for tea, eating in the well-known restaurants, enjoying Jazz in the Bambu room, or just hanging out in the lobby. The service is best in class, and you will feel at home and have every need attended to. It is easy to access the Skytrain (BTS) at Saphan Taksin and also pick up a boat from the dock anywhere. The spa across the river is indulgent if you don't care about the price tag. If you want to be on the city side of the river in a classic best in class luxury, and still feel like you are in the scene of a 1960s movie, you can't really replace the Oriental. There are newer over the top hotels that are most beautiful, more extravagent, but none with the same activity that you find at the Oriental. If you want privacy and exclusivity, then there are other options better. But, i do love this hotel and there is something truly Bangkok about it. This is the only top end hotel at the river that can work if you need to go into central.

When my boyfriend and I were planning to book a Hotel in Bangkok, I wanted to have a tub in our room with reasonable prize, since it was our first night we wanted it to be amazing. I found this hotel and was won over its photos of the rooms and was transpired in person, which we were very contented. Upon arrival the FO was very welcoming and helpful, it didnt took us long to wait for the check in procedure and was assisted to our room after 5mins. We booked their Executive Deluxe and it was one of the best rooms. The tub was built for two, best for honeymooners, the bed is big and all the amenities are personalize which makes you feel like you're in a luxurious hotel. Location wise, its very quiet with a lot of street food, which their street is known for, aside from being the oldest roads in Bangkok (a good history), It's a good 5-8mins walk to Asiatique, where you can enjoy night shopping and mid-high level restaurants, before reaching Asiatique, you can pay a visit in a nearby temple for a little sightseeing. You can also save money and time by getting on the boat since its nearby Chao Praya river. Kudos to everyone and I hope to see you all again!

The hotel is located in the historical area of Bangkok (Banglamphu) where you can find lots of delicious foods and travel attractions around (very close to Khaosan, Phra Athit Pier and the Grand Palace). I was there with my partners with the double room (River View). We could see the Rama VIII bridge from the room. Facility in the room are all very good. The only thing that almost disappoint us was the lady at the hotel gave us the wrong room at the very first time. We need to show them the booking confirmation that we paid for the river view room. She changed the room for us. At the lower floor of the hotel, there is bar and restaurant where you can eat, drink and see the view of Chaopraya River together. Beverages are at reasonable price. I would recommend if you would like to take a break in Bangkok for this hotel

I just spent the weekend with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends in Bangkok and do not regret choosing and staying at the Navalai!!! I did a LOT of research on this site as well as trip advisor because I really didn't want to end up staying in a dirty/seedy place. This is one of the few hotels in southeast asia that has actually lived up to the pictures on the hotel's actual website! It's situated right opposite Pier 13 and is in an easily walkable area. We hung out in Khao San Rd a few times as well as found it incredibly easy to hail a cab (and insist on meter) or tuk tuk (negotiate beforehand). On the first day, I walked to the National Museum, Grand Palace, and Wat Pho which was within 20 minutes and a nice way to take in the sights. The rooms are VERY well maintained and super clean. We each got a serene corner room and a balcony (the view wasn't great but not a big deal--I wouldn't even say getting the river view would be that much better since it's pretty polluted and overlooks some construction) The bed was SO comfortable and the curtains completely block out the sun in the morning so you could sleep in comfortably--also very quiet! It really did feel like I was staying in 5 star/top quality hotel but only paid about USD $60 (shared with my boyfriend so ~USD 120 total). The staff was awesome and very friendly. They tried to accommodate for us; for example, allowing us to check out an hour later than normal check out time since our flight was in late afternoon. Also helped me with directions to get to the various sites. If you want a good thai massage, I would just walk across the street of the hotel and not go to the one directly below it because it's only 180 Baht versus the 350 baht they charged at the hotel place. I think the one we went to is a couple doors down from a place claiming to be a "Lovetaurant" but I'm sorry that I forget the name--it's also immediately next to a street alley that leads you to Khao San Road. The pool is really nice.

New hotel, cleanliness and good service mind. They upgrade our room to Deluxe type with pool view on 3rd floor.we can see some part of river view from the window. the location of the hotel is great, can walk to Wang Lang market and Wat Rakhang where your kids will enjoy feeding many fish in the river. Breakfast was OK but not many choices to choose (A la carte). but overall is good and hope to be back again

To explore Bangkok in 3 days we (4 ladies age 18, 52, 67 and 72) booked this hotel because of the location near the river and the skytrain. The staf is very friendly and helpfull. Our backpacker arrived without her backpack after the flight: it was lost somewhere on the way.. The staff made several phonecalls to the airport and when we left after 3 days, we could pick up the luggage. Thank you for all the support! The breakfast simply is delicious, almost too much to choose! Walking to Saphan Taksin or Oriental only takes 5 to 10 min. and by orange flag boat you can go to Chinatown, Grand Palace, Wat Po in a quick and interesting way for only 15 baht per person! Note: To go to Wat Arun you have to cross the river by a small ferry. The hotel is for its class absolutely worth the money.

This hotel's location, and surrounding shipping/trading companies, constitute a huge part of its lovely charm and uniqueness. You are literally nestled amongst warehouses on the Chao Praya River with sweaty, muscled boys hauling boxes to/from lorries and boats. One gets the feeling that this part of Old Bangkok is on the cusp of exploding into a very trendy/chic part of town with similar boutique hotels, residences, mini-spas and coffee shops popping up all around. It's 3 minutes walk to Wat Pho, 10 minutes walk to the Grand Palace and a 5 Baht/5 minute ferry ride to Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn). The hotel's staff were very resourceful and polite - I asked them to ask Hertz to deliver our rental car to the hotel on our final morning (done with smiles!). We also got some great ideas on what to do and where to shop from the glamorous and polite Khun Em. The breakfast (included) was superb with a wide range of offerings for the very hungry to the very fussy with excellent coffee/tea selection as well. The rooms were modern, spartan chic - which I love (hate busy, complicated, fussy rooms) - and the bed was well-appointed and comfortable. Aircon was strong and quiet. Half the rooms have a wonderful view of the Chao Praya River and Wat Arun. One must scale stairs to get to the rooms but hey, we have legs and can walk (and the porter discretely took our bags up for us upon arrival). All in all, a real gem of a hotel (after 30 years of staying in Sukhumvit area mega business hotels) and one I wouldn't hesitate to return to soon. (Note: I didn't eat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner, hence, no comments.)

Another last-minute booking during our trip (agoda has been great for that), we were so happy with everything at this beautiful little hotel. Great location. Clean, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Best was the service – the staff was just so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We took local boat to temples, but property is also close to doc for tourist boat. Wish we had more time here.

Previous reviews have it right. This place is lovely. I was sorry I was pretty busy in Bangkok, I would have wished for more time to sit around and enjoy the common area, view and breakfast. I suggest staying at least two nights, preferably three, to soak up the atmosphere of the place. Great oasis form the mayhem of Bangkok. Again echoing other reviews -- the staff could not be better. They found a restaurant number for me, insisted on walking me outside to make sure the taxi driver understood my destination and were just all around kind and funny. (Thanks to them for participating in my silly video project!) Re: complaints about the size of the bathroom--depends on the room. I stayed in the black room and the bathroom was great. The website has good pictures, so choose a room that have the attributes that matter to you. The ony downside is that it is really hard to find. My one suggestion would be better signage. Finding the wat grounds is easy (tell the taxi driver the wat name, not the hotel name). Try to arrive in daylight if you can. Download the map and remember that there are two entrances to the wat. If a taxi actually brings you into the wat grounds, it is one way. You must go through one open area and into a little street at the back, then right into a little alley (hotel on your left here down yet another little alley) before you get to the second open area with the main parking for the wat.

This is a beautiful hotel. Although it might not be a 4 star hotel on any lists, it seems like a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star. It has very large rooms, with king size beds. The carpets and interior of the rooms are so clean, with beautiful art deco present in every room and hallway. It has a strong emphasis on the artistic side of decor. My room had a beautiful view of the city, for miles and miles. As a building, it is not among many tall buildings; this one just suddenly appears among a standard local culture district, with standard Thai food shops along the street. But only a few blocks away is a very big restaurant and shopping area called Asiatica, which is like a truly international food court. Asiatica reminded me of restaurant and shopping areas in California! Same kinds of great breweries, restaurants and establishments, including a French restaurant and many affordable Thai restaurants. Room comes with refrigerator, and various amenities. Above all, the room is huge, and a beautiful clean white with art on the walls and a TV ready to go. Great climate control. Room did not come with free breakfast, but apparently, some do. Very fast and easy check in. I happened to be there for their Festival of Lights religious holiday and so this Asiatica shopping area and the street Tongtara is on were truly packed with people. Taxi driver and hotel staff reassured me it is not always like this!! But this is a beautiful hotel, which not only has huge rooms, a sense of art and large beds. It seems to be a 4 or 5 star hotel disguised as a 3 star hotel in a 3 star area!!

I booked a riverview corner-suite and never regretted it. The view is spectacular and ever-changing, the room is pleasant, clean and comfortable, although the bathroom is a bit smallish (not even room to deposit one's necessities bag). There is a restaurant at the ground floor, breakfast-room on the second floor and bar on the sixth floor, all with panoramic view on the river and the roofs of the great palace and Wat Arun. It's hard to get any better! The staff is smiling and courteous, but efficiency depends on the individual. One morning I got perfect service at breakfast with a waitress inquiring for my preferences upon arrival, the next morning I had almost to beg to get an egg (one) and was offered no choice at all ("fried egg" she decided and that was it). It's all part of the Thai experience I guess.

Service provide by all staff was on par with the best hotels in Hong Kong. They did so much to make me comfortable and enjoy my stay. I loved the room, decor, river view and how well the housekeeping staff took care of me and did the best job ever making my room comfortable. They all genuinely wanted me to enjoy my stay. In fact I had just returned at 3 PM and the front desk called to let me know they were serving tea - outstanding service and delicious tea. The view of the river is peaceful and part of the experience. Important Note: the location is not curbside to easy in and out taxi service. Getting to the hotel involves a walk through a neighborhood and a good sense of direction. The staff do all possible to mitigate this aspect, and many people stay there just because of the feeling of remoteness. Highly recommend this hotel.

I loved staying here. This is an elegantly remodeled historic building that is charming. The access to the hotel is by their private boad (don't be afraid it is easy and quick). They provide you with a cell phone to call for pickup. The hotel is across the river and a reasonable walk to main sites (King's palace, Thai Museum, a few Wats and a performance venues as well as some older sites that you can poke around in. The metro water transportation for the city is right there and a cheap and easy way to get around (an avoid the "negotiations" with the local taxi drivers. The food was very good and interesting. They had traditional foods replicated from menues 100 years old. It is an elegant oasis from the crowds of the city, while still being in the city. The staff was great and the type of people you'd like to have as friends after you leave. Very romantic too. I've traveled a lot and this is the first hotel I've given the highest ratings on all categories. Be sure to use arrange tranportation from the airport through the hotel as the first trip over the hotel's boat can be confusing, but after that it is not an issue (with the loaner cell phone...great idea).

The hotel stands next to the river, but you need to keep your eyes open for the signs indicating where to turn off the main road, as the taxi drivers don't always know themselves. Situated sufficiently away from the main road, it is an oasis of quiet in a bustling metropolis. Staff are attentive and English language skills are not a problem. This hotel is used by a good number of coach operators, particularly for Chinese tourists it seems, so early evening and first thing in the morning the hotel can be teeming with groups checking in/out. Breakfast is best taken late, if you can, when you can have the breakfast area virtually to yourself. Would be more than happy to stay again. Was a good choice for us, with easy access from the airport and reasonably close to family in Nonthaburi.

A lifelong friend and I are traveling Thailand. The Swan Hotel is wonderful. It is not a new hotel but deserves 5 stars. The room is very basic but comforatable. The pool is fantastic and beautiful. The staff is the best. Always there to help you. Breakfast and lunch is very good with wonderful quick service. I will always stay here when I return. Thank You---Patricia Smith---Florida USA

Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or family - this place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you lay eyes on this aesthetically pleasing quaint boutique hotel - you will be in love! Talakkia is a hidden gem (literally, down a secure back alley), just a ten minute walk from Chinatown. The staff were exceptional, the food moderately priced and delicious, and the room superbly clean with everything you need - and not to mention the unique, modern-industrial chic decor, so cute! Would stay here a million times more if I could have the chance to! Handy mini bar with snacks and drinks to purchase, tiny (but wonderfully relaxing) outside pool and spa/reading/relaxing area, elevator, and ice cream are just a few of the other great perks! Side note - needed a quick shower after checking out and leaving for the day, staff easily let my partner and I come in, rent a towel, and shower up before a long night train ride (appreciate this so much!) - Talakkia, one of the best stays EVER.
