House 1881 is a design-led heritage property situated at the prime location of Canton Road, Tsimshatsui. The property and its various elements are all housed within the former Marine Police Headquarters, one of the four oldest surviving government buildings in Hong Kong dating back to 1881. The main building carries Victorian style colonial architecture, with every inch and detail of the space a witness of history.
The ten suites of House 1881 are each individually designed. Through unique and meticulous designs and furnishings, each suite of the heritage property recreates the unique history of Hong Kong, transporting travellers back in time to a tour of culture. The suites range in size from 800 to 940 sq ft, all equipped with private balconies with panorama views of the city and the renowned Victoria Harbour.

Not really value for money but great staff ”
The suite does not really got 3 Terrance, only 2 actually. The room is small competitively to its bathroom. I stayed at the Tung O Suite, the lightings is just too dark but the decorations is good. Overall I don't think the hotel room worth $6-7k but the staff really did a great job. Staffs are super friendly and helpful!
Return to old Colonial Hong Kong”
I wanted to take my kids to experience HK history, not just shopping malls and theme parks. H.H. delivered beyond expectation. It is not a conventional hotel, definitely not a resort. Emphasis is on history and location. Personal service by butler and service staff was the key "5 star" point of difference with other hotels. No queues for food and beverage. I stayed on three separate occasions, and do let the hotel staff know in advance via email the purpose of your stay and they can recommend a themed room for you. Silvermine Suite for a romantic getaway is highly recommended !
It's not only an hotel....but an historical place with amazing feeling... Room was AMAZING, HUGE, designed, elegant with great soul. Balcony was HUGE and in the center on Hong Kong...romantic : 100% Charming & wonderful place to stay...cannot expect more, HIGHLY recommended !!
A historical building”
The hotel is situated in a historical building in TST which enjoy a very convenient location to everywhere. However, the shower is not strong enough due to the historical reasons. And it was sometime a bit noisy since the hotel is facing the busiest road in TST. And the noise isolation is not so good again due to the building hinderation. But the French restaurant there is really good with a romantic atmosphere and good food at reasonable price. It is a good experience to stay there of course.
The location is perpect just near by shopping center, harbour city. The room is quite big with high ceiling. The balcony is big too. Everything was perfect if no noise form out side of hotel. During I stay, workers installed christmas tree.
Great privacy in a hot tourist spot”
This hotel is in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, 2 minutes walk to Star ferry pier and harber city shopping mall. With only 10 suites, we enjoyed great privacy and great service. Unique interior design with a big balcony with great view of Hong Kong island and the garden. Comfotable and spacy room.
Good Location. But poor Service.”
It had good location in Heritage. Room was Huge and Clean. But Hotel's general mamaging and attitude of staffs were poor like cheap hotel. We thought they r not prffesional and not enough staffs to cover whole hotel even entire hotel was small. After Hullett, we moved to Intercontinental and finally felt good service of 5 star Hotel's service.
Exceptional stay! ”
I had such a lovely time staying at Hullett House! The room was furnished with elegant vintage pieces, including a massive clawfoot soaking tub! I really appreciated the attentive staff, who helped me book a taxi to wherever I chose to go for the day or night. Even more impressive was the delicious breakfast I received each morning, delivered directly to my room. I can't say enough wonderful things about Hullett House. Truly the best! I cannot wait for my next trip!
Really a wodmdeurl hotel. Only 10 rooms, so. Is very quiet and peaceful. Rooms were spacious and well designed with all the comforter.
Huge themed room with big bathroom & high ceilings.”
Stanley Suite - Spacious room & bathroom, high ceilings and big terrace. Room is brighter & more cheerful than the other review I wrote for Kat O Suite. But this room's bathroom is smaller. Nice view towards HK island. Complimentary minibar is a nice gesture. You would want to stay in-room to enjoy room service or have a gathering with friends. Element toiletries provided. Cons: You can see from your terrace the crowd in front of Hotel's compound & if quiet environment is what you need, this place is not for you. Tiny lobby (felt like a back door access to the hotel.) Not much service but it is really fine if you just want room service and enjoy your room. Bfast is hospital level of food - e.g. blend congee, oily noodles, scamble egg that looks strange like mashed potato & dim sum that have thick skins. Breads are not that appealing either.....thou all are edible, I guaranteed. The best would be the pot of tea maybe. Minimal TV channels. Lots of room for improvement.
Beautiful themed room”
Huge room with huge bathroom, high ceilings and a big enough terrace. Nice view towards Hong Kong island. Complimentary minibar is a nice gesture. When you checked into Hullet House, you do not want to leave the room. Really great for a small gathering with friends where you can order in-room dinning. Space is really big enough. Element toiletries. Cons: Crowded in front of Hotel's compound and you can see them from your room's terrace and if quiet environment is what you need, this place is not for you. Tiny lobby or reception area (felt like a back door access to the hotel.) Not much service you expect to get but it is really fine if you just want room service and enjoy your room. Bfast is hospital level of food - e.g. blend congee, oily noodles, scamble egg that looks strange like mashed potato & dim sum that have thick skins. Breads are not that appealing either.....thou all are edible, I guaranteed. The best would be the pot of tea maybe. Lots of room for improvement.
The building is really beautiful, the suite & bathroom huge, the terrace ideal for sitting out .”
I would have liked more complimentary tea bags, milk & water bottles in our room, as I felt to only have one tea bag was a bit stingy for the cost of the room. Dinner in the restaurant was really good and the level of service very attentive.
For those who want to experience a bygone era, Hullett House delivers a unique experience in Hong Kong. The staff were great and very helpful. The location is outstanding and easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The rooms need a little maintenance and upgrade, however they are some of the largest rooms/suites in Hong Kong. Value for money with that much space is a real bonus. One of the most delightful aspects is the very spacious terrace overlooking the historic gardens and grounds, a great way to enjoy breakfast or share with friends whilst enjoying drinks. I would recommend this hotel for both the business and leisure traveller.
Hullett House is beautiful designed. We had the Pui O suite, fully stock minibar with beer and liquor. The room itself has the characteristic of old Shanghai/China. Shanghai is my favorite Hongkong tv dramas and it makes this stay so much more enjoyable. I feel like being on the film set all the time. I got jet lag the first 2 nights, waking up around 2am and just looking at the surroundings, feeling like I got invited to stay over at the Shanghai Godfather's mansion. The location is a short walk to high end shopping mall and harbor. We had Chinese breakfast and it was very good. The view is breathtaking. The service is excellent. We would like to stay on the HK island next time when we come back, but because of Hullett, we may end up on this side again.
A Special Place”
Simply stunning. Enjoyed every moment. From the moment we stepped through the door until the moment we left the staff could not have been more welcoming, helpful and curteous. The hotel is beautiful and the room was out of this world. Loved it.
We had a really lovely stay here. It was our anniversary so they delivered a lovely cake for us and they really made our stay memorable. We loved the location and the staff were very good! We had to wait a bit to check in but they bought us lunch while we waited. We were quite impressed with the service!
A special treat”
It was our 10th wedding anniversary. We had some hiccups at check-in but the staff and hotel more than made up for their mistakes. They treated us to lunch on the house and delivered a very yummy anniversary cake to our room. The room was very unique. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
Awesome luxury stay if you can afford the price.”
We stayed in the Silvermine room and it was a great stay. White provincial look and feel with plenty of room space. Cable TV, great in room breakfast each morning. The service from the team is definitely 10/10. Big thanks to the staff for their service: Stephanie, Eric, Leo, and the others. The only thing negative I would mention about this place is that there is no gym or exercise room. You will be basically paying for the luxurious relaxing stay in central Kowloon. The famously known shopping street of Canton Road is right outside.
Very well contructed hotel”
This hotel is very special, the outlook and also the room, have a feeling of I am at Europe. I love this hotel, especially my room. There are different style room, hope you can also stay at the room that you like. A great choice if you want to stay near shopping center
It is really special experience. very good service”
I think Hullett House is very suitable for visitors who visit hong kong first time. The design and views is so awesome. It tell the history of hong kong. Photos taken here are beautiful. Moreover, traffic here is very convenient.
