Perfect! ”

Stayed here for a stopover before flying out of Kansai. Was perfect for our little family, only a couple minutes walk from the train station and plenty of food and things to do around close by. We stayed in a family room which was massive and gave us plenty of space to spread out! And ridiculously cheap compared to other hotels.

Incredibly old and shabby.”

The photos online were deceiving, as this place was SO dated (70s or 80s) and falling apart at the seams. My room was one of the grossest I've ever slept in and I've stayed in some dives. I was really surprised for Japan. There was cobwebs and lint/fluff all over, the carpet was threadbare and stained, the furniture all worn and damaged, and the shower walls all grotty. It was cheap though! The bed and sheeting were clean at least, but it was by no means a nice place.

Old but doable”

About 5 minutes from the Wakayama Train Station, so if you are going to Kyoto, it's super convenient. The hotel is older and it shows. But the hotel room was still fairly clean. They give you a pair of pajamas you can wear, but I didn't because they were quite thick. The bathroom is set up that you bathe right on the floor OR there is a tub but the showerhead doesn't point in that direction. So either get the floor wet, or try to hold the showerhead to bathe in the bathtub to keep everything dry. Front desk called me a taxi which was super nice. Breakfast had some fish and other Japanese looking things that I tried. It did feel a bit like stepping back into the 70s.

Most fair hotel”

This is the most fair hotel I have ever been. Just 3 mins' walk to Wakayama JR station. The staff are nice. The facilities are good. Actually all rooms equipped with bathroom so the statement here "shared bathroom" is not appropriate. But there is another big shared bathroom for men only.

Convenient”

hotel situated near to JR Wakayama station. Easy for food hunt and little shopping. Bus terminal is just beside the JR station which means easily to travel outbound also. Room is spacious and cleanliness is beyond my expectation.

Great location, 4min walk from JR station”

The hotel was very near the station, you'd want to take the West exit and take the very 1st alley way on the right hand side to avoid waiting at the traffic lights. The hotel is clean and fast check in, check out :)

The hotel is old and dirty, the toliet is placed on the balcony, really cold in winter”

I booked a non-smoking room but in fact it is a smoking room i guess. As the toliet is so cold and old, i did not take a shower that night. I think it is a motel than a hotel, but nice helpful staff and really near to wakayama station. It is ok if you are seeking one short day stay.

Near the wakayama station”

Near the Wakayama station, many restaurants/ cafes around. But receptionist's English were not very well, sometime just can't understand what you want. Anyway, not bad. For single traveler, one or two nights stay.

Staff can't really speak English. Hotel has had it's time and needs a revamp. I moved to the Smile hotel near the castle which was a little bit more expensive than this City Inn Hotel but much much better! Would not recommend this hotel.

Won't come again”

This hotel is a nightmare. First the front desk doesn't look like a front desk without the name of the hotel showing. The room is a rectangle shape with limited space between the end of the bed and the wall. Smoke smell was found all the time and I was waken up by the smoke smell, but I have booked a non-smoking room. NO socket for charging my phones and camera if I need to use the fridge, TV and hairdryer together. In the morning, I found a large cockroach running in my room and I just quickly packed my things and left the room. This is such a nightmare and I won't come again.

Proximity to Wakayama Station, Accommodating Staff”

Stayed on a quiet Monday night, did not encounter the tour groups mentioned by other reviewers. Staff was accommodating and despite the language barrier, we were able to charge my power bank after check out using the password-protected charging stations at the lobby. The mall next door closes at 7PM as do most establishments in the area.

Good location and the value of money”

I'm echoing most of the other traveler's review. The hotel offers good value for your money because it's old. It's not the traditional type of old, but I don't think the management is putting enough money to renovate this place. The elevator seems kind of tiny in my opinion. I think the room I got was clean, but because its old appearance, it makes it look less clean. The bathroom is just too tiny even for places I've stayed at in Japan. The staff were friendly, but they turned out my request of check-in early. I guess because of the cheap price, I also saw more group tourists than solo travelers. I stayed there for 1 night and I saw 2 different groups of tourists from China.

Value for Money”

The staff are friendly and the location is good, just 5min walk from JR Wakayama Station. The exterior is decent but internal is not in good shape. Generally clean but a good make over will definitely help. Pretty good for a night stay at its price.
