Ibis York Centre Hotel”

Not exactly in the heart of tourist attraction spots in York but still in a walking distance. Value for money considering the spacious room and nearness to the train station.

Worst experience i’ve ever had”

price was fair, location was alright, but not recommended. the acoustic was quite bad that walking steps from corridor, whispers and even snoring from other rooms cpuld be heard clearly. And one very important thing is that my personal stuff, including my tooth brusher, toothpaste and even my electric shaver in the bathroom were all dumped away with no reasons. And my USB cable for phone charger was missing too. that’s the first time i have such an experience

Pros: - near the train station (5-10 minute walk) - a few restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars nearby - Breakfast was decent Cons: - the air conditioning in my room didn't work but there was a plug-in fan if I needed it - the shower wasn't great. The water pressure was low and the temperature changed a lot making things like washing your hair hard to do because one second it'd be boiling hot and the next second it'd be freezing cold. - WiFi in my room was patchy. The TV also had apps like Netflix, YouTube and Prime. They didn't work as it wouldn't connect to the hotel's WiFi. - Noisy street and guests who don't know how to close a door properly. - Bit far from city centre on foot (20 minutes walk) They were doing some painting while I was staying so maybe the hotel is going through renovation. Next time I visit York, I'll probably pay a bit extra and be nearer to city centre.

Location is bad. Room was decent”

The hotel staff were friendly, cleanliness was good and the room was great for the price. However the location is not suitable for sightseeing since its almost a mile away from the central area of York where all the attractions are located.

Basic B& B no frills. Clean and spacious room. 2 night stay and rooms cleaned and changed. Will return.

Room was not make up (until requested). I have to request from the reception (2 days!). The maid came but did not make up the room (reason: the rule did allow her to clean up when the guests are around… ok, but, why when i m not around, nobody came to clean it?).

10-15 minute walk to the centre. Parking limited, on site. But car parks near by. Stayed mid week, residents of the hotel were quiet. Would recommend, if you want basic, and don’t plan to stay in your room all the time.

Good ”

This is an ideal hotel to stay at for the price we paid, £28 for one night in a double room. The hotel is located in a great location for access onto the walls and centre, 5 minute walk. Some nice pubs on your doorstep also including BrewDog. The room is spacious and clean with a large walk in shower for two (optional). My only negative was that the shower water temperature did vary whilst using it. Other than that, very good value for money.

Never again. Youth hostel with a thin hotel veneer but at least twice the price of a hostel. Paper thin walls to hear all of the domestic abuse going on in other rooms - all night. Day staff very polite but clearly taking all the heat for Ibis. Night staff rude and dismissive. Nowhere near value for money.

the staff are racist, we have purchased the buffet and when we fall in line the staff called us out to wait because they're serving by tables but we noticed that other people from different tables are already queuing and they haven't called there attention. We waited to see if we can queue right away but others are just jumping the queue and they just let them, when we approached one of their staff to see if they have a queueing system so that people won't just cut off they said no. It was alright to wait but to be the only people singled out to wait is just so disappointing.

Good location as 10 minutes walk to town centre and although we didn't go by train the station was only 5 minutes walk. Good breakfast choice and it was nice. The girls on reception were very friendly and helpful, even though they were busy. The guys serving breakfast were efficient to. Under the circumstances of Covid we were a party of 5 and more than happy with our stay.

Hotel was organised during Covid pandemic. Staff friendly and approachable, especially Charlotte on reception who went out of her way to make our stay pleasurable.

Easy to travel, rooms are not clean Someone took their dogs to stay in the hotel. Hear the bark all the time And the room is not soundproof.

Quite far from city centre , old room and should be renovated, and the price was quite expensive for this quality of facilities.

Just only a few minutes walk to restaurants and grocery shops. We can walk to the city. It is quiet and safe there. Lovely city!
