Beautiful island, lovely bamboo bungalows”
The island and the surroundings were beautiful, the location was just alright if you only take it once as a long walk and nobody came to greet us so we just had to find our way to the accommodation by asking others. Staff were friendly but nothing extra, not very knowledgeable of local tours and dives, prices, etc.. Our meals again just was fine, not bad but we thought to give a chance for other foodie places too. Overall, fantastic sleep, the bungalows are very simple but fantastic. The sea is just on your doorstep and waking up for it in the morning is unforgettable. :)

More of a camping experience then paradise getaway”
It’s low cost, and it’s on a beautiful island. The staff are nice. In our experience that’s where the good of this resort ended. We found ourselves fighting a losing battle against red ants and mostquitos. Each morning we were constantly itchy with new bites. Which really tests your patience after a few nights. There was literally a red ant colony right in front of the bungalow. These bungalows offer zero protection against bugs, even our elaborately setup mosquito net didn’t seem to protect us much. The bathroom is very dirty and poorly put together. The mirror and sink literally seem like they’re going to fall off the wall. The toilet was stained and dirty. The water has an odour. We stayed at another resort and had no issues with their water, so it’s not an island problemr. The door height is very low, and we banged our head a few times. Their restaurant was the only one we found on the island that didn’t take cards, which is a problem when there are no ATMs on the island and you run out of cash. So we ate elsewhere on the island. If you’re ok really roughing it, maybe this is the place. The staff genuinely seem like good people, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to friends and family.

Very basic bungalows in good location ”
One of the cheaper places to stay on Koh Kradan but expensive compared to other islands like Koh Mook. Food also relatively expensive but very tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful but room could be improved. We were on the VIP family beachfront bungalow but all wood was bare wood and not sanded at all so risk of splinters. Also, no furniture at all other than a bed in both rooms so lacking places to put things. The place did not feel particularly clean and some of our towels and sheets were heavily stained, although smelt clean. We washed swimwear and everything seemed to turn orange so not sure about the water. Good location away from Kradan Resort where most of the day trip boats stop. Good snorkelling in-front of resort - go at high tide or difficult to dodge the coral and sea urchins to get to the deeper water.

The island is beautifull and all the bungalows are right on the beach ....We booked bamboo hut and this was BIG mistake. Every night we had rats coming to our room, they wake us up, they bite my bag and made a hole in it. The beds would be ok if they had big mosquito nets...our beds had just small round mosquito nets so the net was touching all the time or your face or your legs so I woke up all the time because mosquitos were biting me. Location is reall beautifull, plenty of shade on the beach ....be sure you go to see sunset beach also, it is really beautifull....

Calm, simple and beautiful”
The owner, Bill, was extremely kind and helpful and his place is really one of the best places on the island - and the island is by the way my favourite in all of Thailand (and the world)!!! Beware that prices on this island are well above most other places in Thailand (around double to triple of Ko Lanta prices) as it’s so remote. Our bamboo bungalow (B1) was very worn with the porch floor unable to hold us without breaking but soon as we told Bill he offered to fix it right away :) All bungalows are on the beach and with both a porch and sea view so no need to worry about that ;) We will definitely return to Kradan Island Resort some day! Oh, and make sure you take a longtail over to Emerald Cave on Koh Muk - it’s amazing and also fine with very small kids (ours were 3 and 5).

Fantastic location with nice easy going vibe”
Love this location and the easy going vibe that Bill the owner + staff creates. Would highy recomend it to people and families thats likes to be right at the beach to enjoy the natural splendor of Koh Kradan. This is not a place for people that expect “German” efficiency service but rather for people who value a great atmosphere and to be on the best location possible on the island.

Wow, what a wonderful place!”
We stayed at one of the beachfront bungalows for 5 nights and we loved it! The bungalows are simple but the location and the beachfront view are awesome! I think there is no other place on the island where you live that close at the ocean front! Exceptional! There are some new and some older beachfront bungalows and we had a new one; it had the best bathroom we have had on our whole thailand trip! The only thing that could be better is the matress. When you book this place you have to keep in mind, that this is a resort for budget travellers. The bungalows are open and simple. When you sleep in open bungalows you should never have food inside the bungalow (doesn't matter where in Thailand). The management offers to keep your food stored. We did that with our baby food and we've never had any troubles with animals in our bungalow. The restaurant is very good (try the thai omlette or laap gai) but could have a bit more options of simple foods (like fried rice, fried banana,...).

I loved my stay here & will be returning next year , stayed in a beach front bungalow for 2 nights ,I would have stayed longer if I didn’t have to head up to Bangkok to go home .Food was very nice in restaurant & the owner bill couldn’t do enough to make sure everything was ok . I can’t understand why has such a low rating on here ?

Perfect service, friendly staff, and beautiful location”
When we booked this place, we expected the worst based on previous reviews. However, the opposite is true. Yes, the bungalows are basic, but what else do you need when you are on a beautiful tropical island with a resort situated right on the beach?The thing we liked most about this resort was that the service was very fast and the staff was very friendly. If you have been to Thailand before you know that when you enter a restaurant it can sometimes take ages until the staff comes to give you the menu or your order. In this restaurant, staff was very quick which we appreciated a lot. Also, everything was done with a smile, proper English speaking, and always there to help. The location was right on the beach with a magnificent view especially in the mornings. They offered a wide variety of food, however we found that the Thai food was the best compared to the other menu items. Furthermore, the bungalow was basic, but clean and had every basic thing you need. Thumbs up for this place!

Kradan Island resort was a most wonderful unique magnificent week on a superbly beautiful island. Immediately upon arriving we knew we in he right place. We were looking for a beautiful lazy beach front holiday and that is exactly what we got. The main thing for us is to feel connected to the culture and nature and not be too much involved in the western tourist bubble. Whilst Kradan island is definitely tourist location without its own local population and overpriced resorts and restaurants, we went for the seclusion and raw in spoilt beauty. Bills offered the most relaxed and authentic experience on the island. The place is not without its quirks, and definitely need to be in the ‘mai pen rai’ frame of mind when staying here. But we feel that is part of her charm. Rooms are clean, mosquito nets great, food is good but overpriced for Thai rates(unfortunately everything is on the island) We stayed on beach front and that is exactly what it means. 10 paces to the water.

We are quite lucky to be located away from the 'midday day-tripper' zone and so happy that you found the tranquility you wanted. An unfortunate downside to being an island with no settlement is that absolutely everything needs to be sourced & shipped in from the mainland, as such prices can seem to tend towards the excessive.
Compared to last time very disappointed ”
We had come here with family that was visiting two years ago, we had a pleasant stay then, nothing fancy but it was decent. This time was far from that, there was no owner and not much for staff here to take care of anything. Only people here were young guys doing building and repairs around the property. We should have not stayed here and wished we booked a different place, this was definitely not worth the money spent, we actually got charged more than we were supposed to. They shouldn’t let people book rooms if nothing is properly opened, no restaurant, only electricity at random evening and night hours, aunts all over, no toilet paper or soap, unkempt rooms. We basically stayed at a construction sight. Check if the owner is around, if construction is finished and better cleaning and upkeep is happening before booking, then it could be a nice stay.

As far as I know it's the cheapest hostel on the island, so that's great! Our bamboo hut was directly on the beach, we opened the door and were at the sea! The hut itself seemed quite nice compared to other huts we have stayed in but the fact that we saw a rat, a mouse and a big cockroach in there made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Food was not really good but the fact that there were some puppies in the hostel made up for that!

The pictures are pretty accurate...maybe add in a bajillion ants and it'll be en pointe. The owner was nice, but was not as accommodating as I had hoped. We thought about staying another night, and wanted to stay in a bamboo bungalow the second night instead because it was cheaper, but for the owner's sake of convenience, he asked us to stay in the bungalow we were currently in (wood bungalow) which was more expensive. That's not fair nor very professional. Sorry, but I'm not going to pay more for the sake of YOUR convenience. The other staff were nice though. Also, we didn't have a fan in our bungalow even though that was advertised. Again...the ants!!!!!!!!! They were everywhere. Despite all the shortcomings, we enjoyed our stay...but mostly because the little puppies and dogs running around were super adorable!!

Takes a little getting used to”
This place is a little bit rough around the edges. The first few hours I was wondering what I'd gotten myself into, but after relaxing for a bit, the place grows on you. Staff weren't well versed in English, but were friendly and attentive. Even let me use mask and snorkel at no charge. My wooden hut ("chalet?") was basic, no frills, but right on the sea. The bed was comfortable, slept great. But no tables, no shelves, not even hooks to hang up clothes. Had a small veranda with table and chairs. Bathroom was funky, all I can say, just funky. Restaurant served good food, had two dinners there and enjoyed them. This is also the only place on the property the wifi was strong enough to even send an email. Forget about sending or receiving photos, save that for another day, avoid the frustration. The best swimming is at the southern part of the island, where you can swim at high or low tide, so take a walk and enjoy. Just a few small things and a few medium things they could do and I would definitely give the place two thumbs up. The small things - my room (A-1) had no broom to sweep sand off the veranda, no water basin to rinse sandy feet, no clothesline on the veranda, no towel provided. The medium things - no beach chairs or hammocks, nowhere to relax except on the sand with the biting ants. The bottom line is this though, there are seriously expensive resorts next door with all the frills, but this place is reasonably priced, just keep your expectations in check and enjoy what they have to offer.

We are aware that standards of service were somewhat lacking and we're doing our best to rectify that, as well as addressing a few of those small but glaring omissions. As you rightly point out, if you require frills on the island then be prepared to pay, but if you want to enjoy that same location on a wallet-friendly budget...

The island is beautiful. It is truly paradise. The beach and snorkeling were incredible. The staff always went above and beyond for us especially Aoi who worked at the ice cream place. What an amazing place. I really hope we get to go back. It was magical.

Location perfect and good friendly staff but the bamboo rooms could do with some improvement - i.e. beds / pillows not that comfortable / clean. Stayed 3 nights and unfortunately woken at least twice a night by rats or mice (harmlessly) scrambling around ( every morning they had rummaged through the trash in the bathroom and spread it over the floor ) Other than that, beautiful place / location. If we stayed again we'd probably try and upgrade to one of the wooden rooms, I'm guessing they have less gaps in walls and doors for pests to get in. Overall a good stay though, thanks!

Hi Caleb, We're sorry to hear that your stay was not all that it could have been. We have been taking onboard what our customers have been saying. To that effect the bamboo units along the waterfront have been replaced as of the end of last year (2017). As a favourite of our customers, we hope that they will still provide some unique charm while offering an improvement on quality. Further to this, the bedding throughout the majority of the resort's units has also been replaced. Thank you for your thoughts and we hope to welcome you back one day.
