My overall stay was memorable! The hotel is enormous with long beach that you can walk/jog everyday. The gardens are vast with golf courses and big swimming pools for adults and children. This is the best hotel for families, couples and singles too! The property is old and outdated but it's ok. A bit far from Kota Kinabalu. ok to stay here for a week. The rooms are spacious, clean and functional. The beds are big, with soft and fresh bed sheets and towels. Gym, pools and massage service are also available. The staff were amazing and helpful. The breakfast was ok as well as the buffet restaurant. The views from my balcony were amazing! Watching the sunset from my balcony and listening to the waves of the ocean were priceless! I didn't expect that this property was huge! You can also hike, wander and walk in the forest. I stayed most of the time outdoor specially on the beach. The sunset was spectacular as well as the monkeys every morning. Many exotic animals are present here like the monitor lizards and Bangaw birds. The sand was soft like in Boracay (Philippines) Highly recommended and next time, I'll bring my family here!

We stayed for a night & it wasn't our first time as we really enjoy the location. Room was okay despite the bath tub stopper not working. I asked about dinner at the reception & the lady informed me only buffet would be served & it was a Friday. I then asked about in-room dining & she said yes, it's available as expected of a resort of that credible. When I called to order at around 7pm, I was told that in-room dining order would only be taken at 10pm! That came as a shock to us as we did not opt for buffet dinner. We preferred to have it in the comfort of our room. When I called at 10pm, the guy who answered told me that someone would return my call so I waited, til around 10.20pm but no one did. I called again & the same answer; someone would call me; NONE. The third time I called, only then the lady who answered asked me to scan the number on the key card & place my order there. Finally I got through. We only got our food at around 11.30pm. Mind you, for those who have never been to this resort, the road going in & out is very dark. It would be hassle to go out just to get our dinner as it was just me & my son. I was very disappointed with this regardless of the other plus points. Please improve on your room service. Thanks
Room unit facing partly Ocean view and partly swimming pool and the nearest unit to swimming pool that is good. This unit come with air conditioned but the blower not strong and room temperature is warm during day or night time. The room light Some function some not. The TV also not function but immediately the maintenance staff change another set of TV. I have requested for a standing fan because im Stay with young children. But my request has been denied by FO. Also to request hair dryer (around 11pm the HK sent) also the tea spoon. The Breakfast for children is free only for 6 yrs below. Other will be charged at half Price The breakfast menu & preparation with my thought is not too bad as there is a need of Improvement on menu and Hygiene/cleaniness of plate, bowl etc. Swimming pool facility is good but i can see the water inside pool is dirty. Good Job to bellmen staff for assisting us on the transportation/luggage arrangement, to the house keeping staff for providing us whenever our needs in the Room and the Restaurant staff at morning Breakfast for assisting our breakfast voucher Issue with my children age 7 yrs & 10yrs old. To the hotel team management, please do routine check on your room maintenance especially air conditioned, room light, mini bar, & hygiene at F&B and swimming pool area.

A nice beach with clear water suitable for swimming and surfing, it’s unfortunate that there was a lot of rubbish on the sand. No jet skiing available, you can borrow balls to play volleyball or football at the field by the beach. Was surprised that the grass was not cut even during the peak Xmas period. Swimming pools were fine. Many were seen swimming with pants and loose tees. Have a children play room and game room to rent the vr headset from. Our favourite was the pub cafe with snooker , darts and board games. Again not for the fussies, kiddos found cockroaches in the cafe toilet. Rooms were clean with new facilities. Mirrors with backlight, type c charging ports, everything you expect to find inside a hotel room is available. But the facilities outside the rooms definitely need an uplift. Everything from the ceiling lights to the handrails on the stairs were dusty and looked tired. The place was dimly lit. A very average buffet breakfast without an egg station. Has a coffee maker but only with black coffee; the other machine didn’t work so i don’t know if that works with milk. The smart tv in the rooms don’t work with the hotel wifi; we need to use own wifi for it. The heater wasn’t really hot after the first day. Would recommend it to those not too fussy about the facilities and are looking for a cost friendly holiday. I’m biased as I’m comparing it with shangri la rasa ria’s ocean wing rooms. That costs double of nexus, has better facilities. Nexus wins with the beach though. Rasa ria’s yyside of the beach is not really suitable for swimming.

The beach was truly exceptional and one of the highlights of our stay. We understand and respect the hotel’s policy of not allowing outside food. However, this makes it even more important for the in-house dining options to meet a reasonable standard. Unfortunately, our dining experiences were disappointing. At Penyu, we ordered the mushroom soup (RM31++), but it was overly salty and not enjoyable. At the Sunset Bar, the seafood pizza lacked flavor and was overcooked, resembling dry crackers. Similarly, the minestrone soup was excessively salty. While we are more than willing to pay the hotel’s prices, we do expect the food served to be properly prepared and of good quality, especially given the restriction on outside food. I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and overall had a wonderful, relaxing time. The location is slightly far from town, but restaurants are available nearby (though the food was just average). The room felt new and the bathroom was very clean, but cleanliness could be improved—my comforter had some yellow stains, and the pool towels weren’t spotless either. Also, only rubbish bins were provided without rubbish bags. The highlight was definitely the environment. The beach was gorgeous, with soft sand and very few people around, making it quiet and peaceful. There are also water activities like paddle boats, surf boats, and kayaks (extra charges apply). Another personal favorite was the gym—well-equipped and not crowded at all. Overall, despite minor issues, I really enjoyed my stay. TV: We stayed for 4 days since day 1 we request there were technical error . no modem was placed so I guest that’s the reason why we couldn’t watch . Only the volume. Beach ; Fantastic. I had a wonderful solo vacation at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai from 18 to 20 July 2025. The hotel stay was comfortable, with delicious meals and beautiful sceneries that made the experience truly relaxing. Although there was some maintenance work going on during my stay, which caused occasional noise and made it a bit challenging to fully enjoy the peace and quiet, the overall atmosphere and friendly service still made it a pleasant getaway. I truly appreciated the experience and would still recommend this resort to anyone looking for a refreshing break.

We stayed on the resort side, and while the experience was generally decent, several issues, especially with cleanliness, need attention. Our room had noticeable dust and mold in various areas, with insect droppings on the baby cot and light fixtures. The ceiling fan was so dusty that it scattered debris, including insect droppings, onto the cot when turned on. The sink was clogged, with accumulated debris that hadn’t been cleaned. The hot Sabah weather made things worse when our room’s air conditioning stopped working on the third night. After multiple complaints, we were given a dusty fan to pull cool air from the connecting room, which we were lucky to have, but we had to dismantle and clean the fan before using it. The staff offered to relocate us, but with our daughter running a fever and the inconvenience of repacking baby essentials, we declined. A technician fixed the air conditioning the next morning while we were at breakfast. Dining at the Olive restaurant was particularly disappointing. Arriving around 7 PM, we were seated but informed that coconut shakes, listed on the menu, weren’t available. Green tea and several other dishes were also out of stock. After waiting 20 minutes for a cheesecake, we were told it was unavailable too, with no upfront warning. The situation worsened when the restaurant filled with smoke and odors, likely from a faulty extractor hood. The staff responded slowly, eventually opening a door and using a fan, but it was too uncomfortable for us, especially with an infant and young child. We ended up with just two drinks, canceled our order, and left. Additionally, we were told there would be a bonfire every Friday. We returned to the resort in time and waited at the beach, but nothing happened, leaving us deeply disappointed. Overall, these experiences suggest the resort is aging, with inadequate maintenance leading to persistent issues with cleanliness and service.

Stayed for 4 nights during Malaysia school holidays. Good things first - rooms and environment were clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's location is quite remote and we liked the isolation, but be aware and there's no shopping or variety of food nearby. The beach was beautiful and kids can enjoy it and the pools the entire day. And the bad things - They are not prepared for the crowds during school holidays. Breakfast buffet was packed and constantly running out of popular food/fruits. There is a spillover area in another restaurant, but the food there is not warm. Booked 2 rooms, arrived with 1 room have no bath towels at all, they ran out of towels. Pool area always running out of towels as well. They are starting to refurbish some rooms and restaurants (2 were closed). Hopefully come out bigger and better.

Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai is truly a beautiful and relaxing destination, surrounded by nature with a stunning beachfront that offers a peaceful escape from the city. The resort has great potential as a top holiday spot, especially for families and those seeking tranquility. However, there is room for improvement, particularly in terms of facilities. In the Borneo Garden area, especially around Block 5, water pipes or washing facilities should be provided near the beach to allow guests to clean their feet after swimming in the sea before returning to their rooms, as sand tends to stick to their feet. I recently stayed at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The resort is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, with a long private beach and lush greenery that create the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. One of the highlights was definitely the food at the restaurants. Every meal I had was delicious, beautifully presented, and offered a variety of both local and international flavors. The breakfast buffet, in particular, had so many fresh options that made every morning enjoyable. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a warm smile. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable place to rest after exploring the resort.
I'd like to highlight a few good and bad points about Nexus Resort and spa. First, the good. The resort grounds are beautiful. Surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife it is picturesque. We had encounters with long-tailed macaques, monitors, and Kingfishers.. The Borneo room, was better than I expected. It was clean and everything was in good order. The main hotel staff was excellent. I'd like to specifically mention James and George in reception and Nadirah in dining. They were exceptional. However, many of the staff were interns or in training and they were inexperienced and poorly trained. We had many disappointing interactions with them. One of The shining bad points was the food. It was disappointing in almost every way. The hotel breakfast, the buffet dinners, the sunset bar, all of the food was uninspired and overpriced. I would think long and hard before staying at Nexus again. The nature, golf course, and some staff are incredible. However other areas need major improvement.

We stayed at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai for a short honeymoon getaway, just one night, and overall it was a very peaceful and pleasant experience. The entrance immediately made a good impression — marbled floors with Christmas decorations created a welcoming, resort-like atmosphere. The property itself is spacious and family-friendly, with pools, direct beach access, and a playground, making it ideal for guests with children. Our Ocean Premier room was very far from the lobby and other facilities 🤭 but it was spacious, beautiful, and truly calming. The balcony overlooked the sea, and the sound of ocean waves felt like natural white noise throughout our stay. Privacy was well-maintained, and the overall ambience was serene and relaxing. The resort also offers a good variety of dining options, from Korean and Malay cuisine to Western food. That said, the bathroom could use better upkeep, particularly the bathtub faucet and drain, which were a bit difficult to manoeuvre. This is likely because we were assigned an older room — I would recommend choosing a refurbished room if available. During dinner at Sunset Bar & Grill around 8pm, several menu items were already out of stock, though thankfully what we wanted was still available. Breakfast was simple but decent — bread, salad, fruits, porridge, fried rice, curry, nasi lemak, and sausages. Nothing extraordinary, but satisfying enough. Despite the resort being quite busy during our stay, the staff managed to maintain a warm and polite atmosphere. We didn’t face any issues, and we were even granted late check-out, which we truly appreciated. Although we didn’t get to fully utilise all the facilities due to the short stay, we genuinely felt calm, happy, and unhurried, especially while strolling along the beach with my husband. We would return — likely for a family staycation with our child next time. This resort is best suited for families with kids or those seeking a quiet retreat. However, if you prefer staying close to the city or shopping malls, this may not be the right location.
Here is the English translation of the review: I got a promotional price through Agoda. I booked a room for my child's birthday celebration. However, the cleanliness level was quite disappointing. The floor of the room was sandy, and there was a black worm crawling on the bathroom floor. There was a spider web in the bathtub. A large lizard was behind the sofa. The heater for the bath water did not work. The makeup table lamp and the balcony light did not work. Could this be why the price was promotional? Nevertheless, 5 stars for the staff and the view outside the accommodation area. The grass outside the accommodation area needs to be kept short at all times. I was wary of stepping on it for fear there might be venomous creatures hidden in the long grass.

The resort is beautiful and peaceful, a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. The facilities such as the pool and outdoor areas are well maintained, and the staff are friendly and attentive. However, the room cleanliness needs improvement — there was some dust, the floor wasn’t properly cleaned, and one of the lights was not working during our stay. My stay at Nexus Hotel was both restful and rejuvenating. I stayed a total of 2 nights which is the first night i booked directly at their website. I booked the King bed but got the Twin bed instead. Then, when i got out of the room i requested to clean the room but there were probably a miscommunication between the staffs that the original room that i stayed at got cleared including my personal belongings. The room had issues too which is the air conditioner wasnt getting cold but the technician came and fixed it right away and the tv isnt working properly which is disappointing. We informed them and got a new room instead.
We had a pleasant stay at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai and also enjoyed the iftar buffet at the same hotel. Traveling with a young child and an elderly family member who uses a wheelchair was made much easier thanks to the kind and attentive staff. Special thanks to Mr James for going the extra mile to assist us throughout our stay. The iftar buffet was satisfying, although the variety of dishes could be improved. The room facilities were slightly dated and could use some refurbishment. Overall, we are happy with our stay and had a good experience here.

Our stay at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai felt like stepping into a slower version of time… the kind where mornings stretch gently and evenings melt into golden horizons 🌅 The highlight, without question, is the private beach. Long, clean, and almost poetic in its quietness. No crowd, no noise, just the soft rhythm of waves and the occasional sea breeze brushing past like a whisper. It’s the kind of place where kids can run freely, and adults can just pause… and breathe. The resort itself carries a calm, laid-back charm. Not overly flashy, but warm and comfortable — like a familiar place you didn’t know you needed. Rooms are spacious, and many come with views that open straight into the sea or lush greenery 🌿 What made it even better for our little family is the space. Plenty of room for kids to explore, play, and just be themselves. Whether it’s splashing around in the pool or building sandcastles by the shore, everything feels easy and unhurried. Breakfast was enjoyable with a decent variety, and having a meal with that ocean backdrop just hits differently. Simple moments somehow feel more meaningful here 🍽️
