Great value in the heart of Stone Town”
Huge and clean room with AC . Highly recommended, very easy to explore the tiny alleys of Stone Town and everything is close by. Biggest bed ever and we even god breakfast taken away because of the very early flight. 15min walk from the ferry or 15min to airport by car.

Excelent option in the center of Stone Town”
We had two excellent nights at Tausi Palace. The location is perfect, the terrace offers some unique views and the staff is really helpful and friendly.

The room was big and nice, bathroom was better than expected, and the staff were always ready to help. Also the breakfast was amazing.

The hotel is super nice, the breakfast is good. Unfortunately the WiFi doesn't work just in the reception hall. And there is no elevator. But all other things are great and the staff is very helpful.

Excellent situation for this hotel ”
We stayed at Tausi from 5 to 8th August 2019. The location is excellent, maybe the rooms could be renovated soon but it's still comfortable, clean and with air conditioning so i recommend it. Juste take care with your booking, i specifically asked for triple room upstair and they first tried to put her in the rooms at ground floor with no windows. But after showing my agoda booking they changed our room. It was still not the one I booked according to the pictures though... But anyway the staff is friendly and kind, breakfast is really good too.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay at Tausi Palace. Location was great! Close to everything in Stone Town. Unable to drive the taxi into the small alley leading to the hotel so needed to walk in with our luggage but it’s a short walk and anybody could do it. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed due to renovations so we were unable to eat there except for their breakfast which was plentiful and tasty.

The restaurant and the bar was under renovation so we had to walk to another hotel for the breakfast. The AC wasn't working fine. The TV wasn't working at all due to the maintenance happening for the renovation.

Great Location, though a bit dated”
This hotel is excellently located in Stone Town, it was not difficult for us to find at all. Room decor is very authentic, though the room is a bit poorly lit. The rest of amenities are ok. Staff are very motivated to sell, so at times they seem a bit pushy, however they are not rude. Roof top bar and restaurant give a great view over the rest of the city.

Had a reservation and got moved due to “maintenance” with no notice”
I made a reservation with this hotel for a weekend getaway to Zanzibar. I showed up to an empty hotel and a front desk person who informed us that the hotel was under maintenance, and that we could not stay there. We were moved to their sister hotel, Africa House, where we got 0 of the amenities I paid for. There was no air conditioning, and we were only allowed 2 towels at one time. The roof leaked onto the stairs when it rained. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, saving our experience; however, not being informed of the hotel moving us was very frightening, unexpected, and unprofessional. I would not recommend booking this hotel. There are many air bnb’s for similar prices where you’d get a better experience.

Bait and switch ”
I was not happy, as they told us the hotel was fully and we would be moved to their affiliated hotel, Africa House. Africa House is a historic and decent hotel — but we didn’t book Africa House. I am not the first reviewer who has had this issue. I wouldn’t bother booking here until they can not overbook in order to fill their struggling affiliated hotels (Africa House has much lower review scores than Tausi)

I initially found it tricky to find the hotel as the name changed to Horizon Hotel but the location is the same. For me this is one of the best hotel I stayed in Africa. It is in the heart of the city, it looks like an ancient Arab palace with amazing architecture and views, and very friendly staff.
