In and around Hua Hin City Center

More about Hua Hin City Center

Hua Hin is a popular resort community south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. It first became popular as a holiday destination for the royal family, but is today better known for its polished resort atmosphere. The days of Hua Hin as a sleepy fishing village have passed, but visitors can still get a glimpse of the old days at Hua Hin Fisherman’s Pier.

The mood is relaxed around the hotels in Hua Hin, and there are plenty of water sport facilities, shops and restaurants to keep tourists busy. The dominant sightseeing attraction is Thai King Bhumibol Palace, which is open to the public whenever the royal family is not using it. Lesser sites in the area include Pone Kingpetch Monument, a tribute to a local celebrity who became Thailand’s first world boxing champion in the 1960s.

Hua Hin Beach is where most of the activity centers, with resorts and hotels in Hua Hin operating comprehensive facilities. Deck chairs and umbrellas are widely available for rent, but active types find jet skis, banana boats, dive shops and windsurfing or kite-surfing outfitters. In the evening, the most popular place to be is Hua Hin Night Market.

Hua Hin is easy to reach from Bangkok by bus or via Hua Hin Railway Station, which is why it’s especially busy on the weekends. Thai families flock here during national holidays; otherwise, it’s busiest with international tourists from December to January. The beach community has ample facilities, including San Paulo and Hua Hin hospitals.
