Gorgeous hotel with super location and practically small rooms”
The rooms are tiny. The elevators are slow and somewhat clunky. BUt that's all the negatives. It's a super location with equidistant access to the park, to uptown, and downtown. Touristy Times Square area is walkable too. Many hotels around. Bergdorf and nice shopping too. A great coffee shop Birch round the corner, and many CVS type stores. Gorgeous lobby. Loved this hotel!
Nice location and staff but poor facilities, room, and maintenance”
Liked the staff as they were brilliant and accommodating. There was a long strand of blond hair left in the hotel room towel!!! CR is decent. The room is very dusty. The elevators are very slow and not well maintained, even the lights in the buttons are not functioning. The hotel is not easy to message. Only received reply 2 days before booking. They were not even open to revising the booking. Will not stay here again.
Excellent location & service”
Thank you to the attentive staff; always feel welcome there, great upgrade for a long stay. Fabulous location.
One night stand---”
The Hudson New York is excellently located close to Columbus Circle, Central Park and the subway. It's quiet and just around the corner are some convenient stores, breakfast joints, really a good Manhatten region. Very recommendable, I will certainly come back.
Exceptional”
Overnight stay at the Hudson was the best! My sister and I were able to relax and enjoy the offerings of the city without a worry. Staff was courteous, friendly from arrival to departure. Our only slight inconveniences were the handicap shower flowed into the entire bath and the TV had a distracting wide vertical line through the middle. Overall, a great stay!
Worst Hotel Ever, Please Avoid ”
Worst room and service I experienced in my life. The room is extremely tiny, with almost no lights. Upon my arrival the rooms heater is out of order and the room temperature was 99 °F. I called the front desk twice but still had to come down to the lobby after 30 mins waiting. Their employee in front desk rudely refused my request of changing room, yelling that all the rooms are the same( same 99 °F ?) When I tired to check out early they tried everything to delay my check out, lied to Agoda customer service that they need to discuss with a " reserve manager ", whom even the other employees in front desk never heard of. Their employee in front desk rudely refused my request of changing room, yelling that all the rooms are the same( same 99 °F ?). I tried to point out the room is not suitable for anyone to stay, and the gentleman in front desk shouted "No, it's NOT" as if he had stayed there somehow. When I tired to check out early they tried everything to delay my check out, lied to Agoda customer service that they need to discuss with a " reserve manager ", whom even the other employees in front desk never heard of. And this brilliant manager didn't give answer in more than 2 days. I called Agoda about 10 times and keep trying on different people in front desk and finally checked out after 2 nights of nightmare. Please avoid this horrible property if you can. Any 50 dollars per night hostel could serve you will bigger room, better service and even samely good location. There are hundreds of decent hotels in town, and another hundreds of budget –friendly ones.
Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, and I travel a lot”
If you disregard the "city tax" that's not reflected in the prices on Agoda ($34 usd additional per night BTW), the only thing going for this expensive rip-off of a hotel is the location. Other than that, what you'll get is a tiny cell of a room with barely any light , a bathroom with no exhaust fan and questionable privacy, subpar sound proofing, and constant banging 24/7 from somewhere between the walls. Some of the things that may be in store for you: broken stop in the tub (which they fixed after reminding them twice), a safe that looks like someone used a crowbar on, and a "chic" bedside lamp that started burning and smoking once I turned it on (which they removed out after I complained, but didn't bother replacing), and a housekeeping staff that starts knocking on and slamming doors at 8 AM. There's a word limit to these reviews so TLDR: avoid at all costs unless location is the only thing you care about.
A Shoebox on West 58th”
A terrific staff, particularly Avalon at reception and Allen at the bar. Wonderful ambassadors for the Company. Our room however was a shoebox - difficult for 2 people to be in the bedroom, not the bed, and impossible in the bathroom. Walking distance to everything worthwhile. Would stay again but would negotiate the room.
Needs better maintenance”
I am aware this hotel has changed ownership a few times. That says a lot about financial issues; but they could still do a better job with maintaining the property. The elevator level display has glitches. Paint is peeling off in the bathrooms. I understand the rustic and cheap-chic approach; but there’s a clear difference between wear-and-tear and rustic with character.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, small rooms”
Not bad for the price. One thing that was a bit bad was that there was a glass wall in the shower that was open to the whole hotel room. There was a curtain but it was sheer and made for awkward shower times for my friend and I because you could see right inside and watch the person showering. They need to put a privacy curtain as an option.
Great location, stylish bit narrow”
I stayed for one night. The entrance was not easy to noticed but soon I realized that it was for the dramatic introduction for the lobby:) staffs and facilities were way beyond than I expected but (as other reviewers have pointed already) the room was very small, but fortunately the airconditioning/heating system was not that anoying to me.
Very bad exerience”
A very bad experience. !!! We arrived and was informed that we were upgraded with a king size bed. When we got to our room is was smaller than a shoe box. There was no place to put our luggage and no stoarge and drawer spaces. The bedside tables could have drawers but instead some fancy looking objects/jars. Not practical at all. Lighting in the room was limited and very poor. No reading light. We had to use the ironing board as table to keep our reading materials. No coffee making facilities. Mini bar was empty. How can this hotel claim it is a 4 star hotel is beyond me. The W/C in the bathroom, when using , you are face with a wall wit a 10 cm space between you and the wall. The bathroom space was so tight that a large guest would not find it comfortable. A 4 star hotel MUST cater for everyone. !!!! We stayed for 8 nights and by day 3, our key card did not work. When I mentioned it to the receptionist, he did not apologise for the inconvenience but instead simply brushed us off and gave us another key.
Good location, comfy beds”
We were told that check-in time was 3pm, so imagine how pissed off my travel companions were when we only finally got a room to move into at 5pm. We were compensated with a $75 in-room dining voucher, but all we really wanted at that point was to shower, not eat.
Welcomed Stay”
The only problem with this hotel is the size of the rooms. They are very small. Luckily enough for me I was upgraded and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The location is just perfect, the atmosphere is electric and I didnt want to leave. Thank you for looking after me on my visit and on reception is so handsome
Chic hotel, tiny rooms”
There are two main reasons to stay here: location and the scene. There's certainly something to be said for being a block from Central Park and Lincoln Center, the shops at Columbus Circle, as well as right in the business center of midtown. If you're a hip business traveler on your own, this hotel is a good choice. You won't be in your tiny room much anyway. As for the scene, it's trend city. The chic bar and lounge attract fashionistas of all ages dressed to impress. I stayed here with my husband and probably won't do so again because of the small rooms and beds. He's 6'2" and his feet were hanging off the bed. The bathroom is super tiny and only one person can fit in there at a time. Kinda makes getting ready for a night out on the town a bit difficult to orchestrate. Considering the party going on downstairs, I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the guest rooms were.
Disappointing”
I have stayed at this hotel regularly for about a dozen years, and this will probably be my last stay. When I arrived after my flight arrived 3 1/2 hours late they had sold my "standard" room to another guest and put me in a smaller room which had a trim piece missing through which music from downstairs was pouring through at 1am. They offered to compensate me with a nominal hotel credit (not even a refund) or free wi-fi, which they said they had just started charging for, as I had never paid for wi-fi in the 12 years I had been staying here. I was able to change rooms the following day, but my new room also had maintenance issues with a desk lamp the did not work and a broken shower head. There are better options in New York and I will be pursuing those for my next visit.
Centrally located, small rooms, great night life”
Rooms are super small - very little extra amenities. But the staff is great - and they make check in/out and navigating the city easy! The hotel is crazy-busy and loud with all the bars and nightlife. The hotel walls are really thin...not the best for a quite night after midnight or to sleep in. Would probably stay somewhere else next time for the money we paid.
Great design of hotel facade, but super small room”
Check in was very quick, but our luggage took more than 3 hours to arrive in our room (we were told to wait in the room for 5-10 mins but...). The super small room also came with an unpleasant smell and the walls were too thin. The restarurant is cool though, but food was just average. The night bar is also very happening and a good place to chill out.
What a shame: A great hotel with no service mind”
This is a great hotel with such a horrible service. Hotel itself has a beautiful modern design and is interesting enough to attract people, but people who work there don't meet the expectations at all. MY friends and I took 4 room for each, and no one slept well during 4 nights of stay because of the dry heating and it's banging sounds during nights. I called the service, and not much things were done. The front desk people are just dry and cold as if they care no one.
Quick and comfortable”
Excellent! I would definitely stay there again. The rooms were small but clean and well arranged to make the most out of the space. I especially liked the storage pockets on the shower curtains. The décor of the hotel lobby was impressive. The restaurants and bars were great! The location could not have been better, right next to central park!
