Attitude and bad service”
I have book room with breakfast but it looks so cheap. And sometimes host didn’t come hotel and cook breakfast for us. With his disappearance my friends came in wrong room and he charged us 100$/2 nights for our wrong. No cleaning room and waste basket everyday and water in bathroom sometimes is so weak and super hot or super cold. Never come back again!
Great location and kind owner.”
It seems the owner speaks at least three languages(English, Japanese, Korean) which is really compelling than the other guest house in Korea. Also, the location is fantastic. Especially, if you are the museum-goer.
Need more bath room.”
Good location, easy walk around. The owner said we have pay for breakfast when our booking have breakfast inclued, I show him the booking say my breakfast is inclued then he said something wrong... We book 2 room with 8 peoples, but only one bathroom in the house wich is warmer than the bathroom outside, but there is more guest stay there so sometimes we have shower together with friends to make it fast :((
Lovely stay in warm 100 years ago atmosphere! ”
Highly recommendable Hanok! The room was (typically) simple but had air condition and a small cupboard. Bathroom was shared, but clean. Staff was incredibly friendly - don't hesitate to ask about the history of the house - that's how we learned a lot about the actual place we were staying in and more about Korean culture.Breakfast was Korean style and delicious. On the following day we got a free tour around the whole quarter, thus we got to see the best spots. If you just want a room and house for yourself, you might miss a little comfort, but for the Hanok experience this is an authentic way to stay. We'd go there again!
Great location and staff”
Amazing cultural experience. Would have not imagined I would connect with South Korean culture so quickly and so well - this was thanks to the owner who organised a party with his friends in the house and invited me too
The place is quiet, rooms and toilet are clean.”
I was a little difficult at first because the lamp bulb was fused, the staff was very kind to offer me another lamp but it was not my luck. The small lamp bulb was not working either. In the end the staff changed me the whole lamp from another room just because I needed the light. And he apologised. I'm extremely thankful because I feel only in that orangy lighting the Hanok stay atmosphere is extremely enhanced. Although the staff did not smile much but he always meet and answer your need if you ask. I had a wonderful moment watching the funny new year Korean entertainment in the living room tv. Although I could not really understand but I could guess through the action. He was very kind to explain to me and watch with me while his doing his work near the kitchen. Feels very warm in a very cold weather. 👍
Good place to know more Korean”
This is the best place to stay & u will know more about the culture of Korean. Very friendly owner "Teddy", provided us a big family room as we actually booked for a normal double room. So happy to stay here! ^^
Owner very nice, good English. I hear he can also speak Japanese. We asked him to recommend a restaurant and he took us to a wonderful local place where we ate delicious Korean food. The breakfast he prepared was also delicious. I enjoyed the neighborhood very much. Close to sightseeing, subway, shops and food.
Fabulous warm friendly authentic place”
Teddy, the manager, as well as the staff, were so kind in explaining to us the city, showing us restaurants and even inviting us for a lunch. We laugned a lot together, although they were also discrete. Also, it is a family place where everybody eats breakfast together, which is a unique experience, especially in such a beautiful traditional Korean house. The architecture is wonderful. The whole area is full of cafes, shops, gardens, but is also quiet at night. Fantastic experience
An excellent hanok experience”
It was our first time to Seoul and Hue Ahn provided an excellent hanok experience for the both of us. Location is an easy 5-8min walk from Anguk. Room was small but cosy and the ondol provided a huge relief to the -6 deg temperature at night! Dashing to the common toilet in cold was FUN! Manager Joe is friendly and speaks good English, he provided recommendation to places of interest around the guesthouse. Highly recommended!
Homey. Great service. Wonderful experience”
The hanok itself was beautiful. Heated floors and a small courtyard. Toilets are shared but clean and amenities like towels/soaps/shampoos are all provided. The traditional korean breakfast prepared by the landlord was a highlight! We heard them cooking in the morning and then we all sat together and ate and chatted about life in korea and other things. Best way to get in touch with a country is to meet it's people I think. Highly recommended.
Cozy and comfortable in a nice traditional hanok”
We are 2 girl friends travelling to Seoul for the first time and wanted to try staying at a traditional hanok for the experience. We chanced upon Hue Ahn on google and decided to give it a try. Hue Ahn is located in the Bukchon area which is a beautiful place with postcard-like scenery and view everywhere we went. Hue Ahn is about 5-10 mins walk away from Anguk station but the walk is quite straightforward and easy to find. If you want to take a cab from the station, it costs less than 3,000won which is very cheap. The hanok was smaller than I thought but the place is very clean and comfortable. All amenities are provided and the owner, Ted is really nice and friendly and made it a point to make us feel welcomed during our 3 nights stay there. He will also ask us where we are heading to the next day so that he can share some advice with us. Really appreciate his kind hospitality. The breakfast provided is also cooked by him and it was really delicious! We even enjoyed a free upgrade to a bigger room on our 2nd night cos the bigger room was vacant! Overall it was a great experience and I just wished we could have spent more time there (we were mostly out shopping and only returned to the hanok at night to sleep). Though the price was a bit steep, it was worth it for the experience! Highly recommend! :)
Good stay and unforgettable experience in Hun Ahn”
I and my sister have chosen Ahn Hanok for short visit as we wanted to experience the traditional hanok in Korea, it is out of our expectation as it is super amazing! The house is also worthy to stay as the hanok values so much in Korea, you can have a glimpse of 100-year history house with beautiful designed wood doors and ceilings. Since the facilities are very clean, including the bedroom and the bathroom, we have a comfortable stay here. Also, it is quite and tranquil at the night, this is also definitely suitable for people who want to have sightseeing around Bukchon. The house owner is really friendly and super helpful, as we have to take the fight in the morning, the owner took us to the airport bus stop and helped us though it rained heavily. The owner is also humorous and smart, who impresses us so much. The owner also cooks the traditional breakfast korean dumplings and rice himself, the food are really delicious as we can taste the traditional breakfast in a good designed hanok. I definitely recommend Hue Ahn Hanok Guesthouse to travelers who want to stay in Bukchon.
Nice stay and friendly staff”
located in nice area, close to the historic area of Bukchon. Quiet at night. Nice and clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. negative: the owners left the main door open all night
We arrived the guesthouse before the check in time but no staff was available. We stayed there for almost 2 hours but still noone showed up. We even tried to phone but it was still unavailable. The facilities looked too awful. It was too much for us after a long tiring flight!
Bad experience in hanok guesthouse ”
We have book two room for 3 days with breakfast but only served it on 1st day, the 2nd and 3rd day breakfast didn't prepared for us, really disappointed for this. Even on check out that day, the owner didn't come to guesthouse for the check out service, we really don't understand why this owner can left the guesthouse for outsider to come in.
Okay to stay just for the experience”
It was quite difficult to find the place, but guesthouse owner was kind enough to let us check in early. The place is very quiet at night and the floors creak so it's quite stressful to walk around at night for fear of waking others up. They have a very cute doggy outside the hanok who is very friendly. The breakfast is quite a spread as well, and the staff are pretty helpful and friendly.
Now we can tick this off our bucket list. Our children, 9 and 10 will hopefully remember this event long after others have faded. The location is great for sightseeing. Cab driver from airport finally found it. It was too cold on our visit for us to enjoy walking around much, but that was not the fault of the guesthouse and they willingly kept our luggage while we did so. Be warned that you are basically sleeping on the floor on a heavy quilt, not even a thin foam mattress. While those like my sister who like firm mattress would love this, I do not and so had a very uncomfortable night. Also, walls are thin so other groups coming and going after you have gone to your room can easily keep you up/wake you. Again, it was part of the experience - but if you need to be well rested for an event the next day, keep this in mind. Also, the bathroom we shared had a section that had a very low ceiling that you had to stoop in to (if you are over say 5 ft, 5 inches) in able to get to the toilet. So if this is going to be difficult for you arrange to be in an area with a different bathroom. My husband (about 6 foot), is still laughing about how he felt like he was in a bathroom for a hobbit (laughing in a good way). When a house is 100 years old you can't expect that modern plumbing is going to be exactly like the Ritz-Carlton. Home was clean. The breakfast was nice, but more so was meeting the other guests. Staff went out of their way to talk with and spoil my daughters (hot chocolate, oranges, Korean sweets) and they adored the stay - which was the point.
not a great experience”
Very noisy No toilet paper or towel was provided next day of stay even though I asked them to make sure No security at all as we couldn't lock the door of our rooms Had cold shower as the hot water cylinder was turned off for no reason :( However, breakfast was good Thanks
good for just a one night stay”
It did not meet our expectations. The surroundings are untidy, VERY slow internet connection. We don't know who to approach as we first thought the owner Teddy is one of the guest. We were welcomed by our co-guest (perhaps because we arrived late 9PM). We did not try the free breakfast though as we are in a hurry to start our IT.
