Great staff! VlThe hotel is located in a very interesting, informal, and culturally authentic "old" Beijing.

Very basic hotel near a good train station ”
      Location, air conditioning, clean
Our stay was pretty standard. There was not much English spoken at reception, which made asking for any assistance very difficult. The beds were so hard I was convinced they were made of wood. We eventually communicated we would like some more blankets. Otherwise super clean bathroom, with western toilets, great location 100 meters from a train station, and heaps of great local cheap food in the area. But if you want any advice where to go or what to do, maybe find another hotel.

Right area for the right price ”
Close to everything touristy but a local feel the actual hotel area. Really close to a good train station.
Stayed for six nights and was really happy with the area. All parts of Beijing are kind of noisy day and night so this area isn't uniquely noisy. Had a top floor room and plenty of good eats on the street and the corner. More traditional, older style hotel with chirping birds in the foyer. Sure the staff don't have great English. Part of the beauty of travelling to a foreign place is trying to get by with your foreign language. Go visit English speaking country if you expect to be spoken to English.

      good time in Beijing”
close to the subway and the forbidden city, friendly staff, accessible from the airport by public transport
Location ist great, friendly and helpful staff, the room was OK. We didn,t like the shower because you always flood the bathroom, when you use it. Breakfast was western but tasteless.

      Decent, functional hotel”
live in an authentic local hutong, eat good and cheap, subway around the corner
I stayed for over a month at this hotel as short-term rentals in Beijing aren't easy to find. The room was rather small to fit a large suitcase, but otherwise totally functional, with a hot water pot for boiling your water and free tea bags. The staff speak enough English to deal with basic requests. The real highlight is all the cheap hole-in-the-wall hand-pulled noodle restaurants lining the hutong, of which I never tired. And the gorgeous Houhai lakes are a quick walk away, while the subway an drugstore are right around the corner.

      Fantastic location”
Huguosi is in the midst of the hutongs so life right outside the hotel is busy and exciting.
Huguosi Hotel was our first stop in China and what a great place to stay. Right in the middle of the busy lives of the Beijing people. Huguosi is a walkable distance from the lake and at night the lights and atmosphere are great fun. The subway is just around the corner and you can reach most places from there. Staff at Hugosi are friendly but they speak very little English. Be careful if you are allergy prone because like many Chinese hotels, even thought it says smoke free, everything smells of cigarette smoke!
