New Year Holiday”
The location is really good, near to the night market! Price is reasonable, compared with other hotel on the new year 3-day weekends. Service is touching, especially arranging the shuttle bus to airport for us and the charges are sensible! One thing that flaws the good quality is the bathing water temperature is sometimes unstable, either cold or hot! At least, 4 stars to the 3-star hotel!
Two streets down to the night market which is a must do every night your there. Everything else on the island needs to be booked on a day tour... ie pepper farm, pearl farm, fish sauce factory, safari tour, temple.
Not satisfied in general.”
It was OK, not value for money charged based on a 3 stars hotel. The hotel needs upgrade immediately, the beach is very dirty with rubbish from the hotel floating on the water....I don' t think I will come back.
Not value for money”
Air conditoners didn't work very well, however staff told us to leave it on while going out so it helped better that way. In doing that, it will cost the hotel more for electricity which will be added on the room price.....
In general I don't think all low scores applied to this hotel are for the hotel itself but Phu quoc island tourist industry is still under developing progress. The hotel itself needs upgrade immediately due to old condition. Not value for money.
I booked this hotel for my trip in Lunar holiday vacation. At first, I chose another hotel, but I found Huong Bien has a best location (in central of Duong Dong, on the beginning point of Dinh Cau night market, own a private beach, ...) and its price was not so high compares with other hotel. My family got a comportable and satisfied time in there. Huong Bien will be my recommended hotel to my friends.
hotel was terrible”
overpriced overrated and needs a good lick of paint inside and out.breakfeast is disgusting.say breakfeast finish 9.15 get there after 8.30 nothing left except cold food no drinks.ask one girl for some orange juice said no then walk of. Very rude man at reception does not no what a smile is.very rude indeed.we had room on 2nd floorso noisy .would not recomend this hotel to anybody.waste of money and overpriced.
My vietnamese partner and I stayed only the one night(New Years eve) and enjoyed the buffet dinner which was very well presented. We also did a one day north island tour(snorkelling fishing swimming) with Johns tours and can highly recommend it. Island prices are slightly higher than the mainland but that is common in most countries.
Good location! ”
The hotel was good, but the fact that it was hop skip and a jump away from the night market (they practically Share driveways) scored major points for location. We ate the best seafood every night and it was the truly great seafood. Best Ive had in a long... long time. pretty much if you dont need a Palace to spend your nights in... and you dont mind an average or above average (depending on your requirements) room and you just love good fresh seafood... than this place will be perfect!
The hotel's staff are friendly and helpful. Nice location for those who prefer conveniences: night food market is right at the front gate, the beach is just a few steps away. The hotel restaurant is ok, reasonable prices, good foods, breakfast in buffet style, a bit boring though. Rooms are clean and well-equiped. The swimming pool is small and doesn't look clean for me.
Good location but very local clientele”
Hotel was okay but the noise from the dining rooms above was disturbing during dinner & breakfast.Breakfast was very local in flavor considering this hotel was more for the locals. Beach was passable as it was in town. Better beaches are further out of town. The ladies at the reception were pretty accommodating. Internet was fine except for 1 day when it was down due to bad weather.
Doing the best they can to please”
Well I was a solo traveller speaking no vitnaemese in vietnam! I arrived at a peak time for vietnamese travellers as it was a public holiday for the m on the 30/04 and 01/05/12 so it was a little difficult to organise a tour around the island. I was disaapointed about that but on the whole found the staff very accommodating. Ex: I like to read and found the light in room was insufficient for reading at night. I spoke to reception and explained I needed better lights. I was very happy when they sent someone up to the room and replaced the globe to a stronger light. They had understood and responded and I was grateful. The room was light in the daytime and clean and spacious with a seaview (not to be confused - it was not long beach) but nice all the same. Very close to the market. To go to long beach cost 30,000VND by motorbike taki and took about 10mins. The roof top restaurant has the best view of the sunset. I enjoyed the whole experience
The location of this hotel is very convenient and near the night market. You can easily walk to night market to have delicious seafood with reasonable price. The beach of the hotel is just ok. However, you should hire a motorbike to visit the Bai Sao Beach, the most beautiful beach of this island. The water is so clear. The sand is different from normal sand, looks like crystal. My kid like this beach very much. We had a great time there.
Cute hotel in an awesome location!”
Hotel was lovely and clean. Room was spacious and our room had a deck where you could see the beach which was nice. Hotel staff were very nice. Hotel is quite loud at night though, sounds like there was people moving their furniture around at 5am in the morning? Although make sure that if you are going to hire a scooter make sure that you are able to drive one before attempting to drive one on the island. Locals are able to rip you off and charge you a lot of money if any damage is done to the bike.
great value for money but not for everyone ”
if you are looking for an all inclusive resort feel then don't stay here. the accommodations are very comfortable and they have everything you need, but by nature, you should venture out and explore. the hotel steps away from the beach and night market, where you can find great eats and your typical tourist souvenirs. the strip of beach besides the hotel is used by locals for sunset swims, which might bother some people, but we quite enjoyed seeing "real life" on the island. if you don't get a sea view room, then you get a view of the backs of people's houses; didn't bother us, but some might not like it. breakfast was good, and you can sit outside and enjoy the seaview if it isn't too windy.
Nice place with some good features”
we enjoyed our stay here and found our room very comfortable. we loved the position as it was right next door to the night market. they supplied drinking water and fruit in the room. one negative in the room was that we did have some trouble getting hot water. they had a small pool, internet access and beach access. the beach access was limited and if you want a bigger beach you should stay further out of town.
excellent location, restaurant from the hotel has excellent food and the price is very good. don't miss the seafood bbq night market just turn left when you walking out of the hotel. we were eating seafood nightly while we stayed there.
Cons: hotel staff need training, they wished to keep our passports but we rejected. The staff at restaurant just stand at the entrance doing nothing! She smiles to us and said that we should take our own chairs and pull the table out for outdoor breakfast. She didn't offer any help at all! very noisy in the morning if you stay on the 2nd floor because the set up of tables is just on top of your roof (at the third floor).
Awesome location seaside.”
Great location by the ocean. Also within walking distance of local night market! Rooms were adequate but air conditioning needs to be upgraded. Was quite hot in rooms even with the air conditioning on full blast. Sunset and sunrise from rooms were spectacular!
good location and restaurant”
The hotel room is clean and the restaurant is very good. The hotel staff is helpful. What we like most is the night market is very close to the hotel and some food stalls provide excellent but cheap sea food. Normally, the good food stall is the one that packs with people.
