Lovely stay in very comfortable hotel
Lovely, modernised hotel in the beautiful village of Peaslake. Hotel was very clean, high spec and comfortable with a lovely ambience. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay very easy. Will definitely stay again.

A lovely clean welcoming place to stay in a great location
Very clean, comfortable with nice little touches (various squirrels in our room!). Wonderful breakfast. Very central location in beautiful little village with walks and trails all around. I think we were the only ones without mountain bikes! The only downside was the pub next door had pretty awful Italian food (shocked to discover the chefs were actually Italian!) so would recommend eating elsewhere before arriving - note that the pub is not owned/run by the same people as the B&B

Very good
I needed somewhere to stay for a family gathering, so booked in without knowing anything about the hotel. The room was immaculate, the bed might have been the most comfortable I've ever slept in, breakfast was tasty and the staff could not have been more polite and helpful.

Too remote, noisy room over pub, plus more
First the good things, secure parking, fresh milk for early morning cup of tea, nicely presented breakfast. Now the bad, we were in room 6 which is directly above the pub, we asked to change rooms and were told initially that all the classic rooms were full and we would have to pay an extra £10 to upgrade to a quieter room, we said we were not prepared to do that, we were also told that if we had wanted a quieter room we should have requested one when we booked! However later the young girl said that she did have room 3 available but the extraction fan for the pub kitchen was outside that, we went along the corridor and the noise was worse than the noise from the pub below room 6, she also said that they usually shut the fan off at 10pm. The shower was overflowing and had to be switched off mid showering, checked the drain and it was clear, but as soon as you started using it again it would fill the tray and overflow onto the floor. The lights in the bathroom come on automatically, so in the night when you need to use the bathroom you have to open the door to its widest point to get past the basin unit and the lights flood the bedroom with light, waking the other person. The height of the mirror in the bathroom is far too high, being 5’2” I could only see the top of my head. There is no socket close enough to a mirror in the bedroom for the hairdryer to be used. It would be nice if you did not have to avoid the dog mess on the driveway to get to your car. The problem with the shower and the hairdryer were reported to the woman serving breakfast and dealing with checkout, no apology just that she would check out the shower and the hairdryer point was noted. To conclude the hotel looks very good on the surface but needs to improve on basic items.

Very comfortable, perfectly located with exceptionally friendly welcome and first class service
Friendly staff made us feel welcome and at home. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast. We would certainly stay here again when visiting the glorious Surrey Hills. Just a note - the excellent Hurtwood Hotel is not connected to the Hurtwood Inn restaurant next door. Our experience with the restaurant was much less satisfactory, and we'd recommend dinner or lunch at the many options in Shere and other surrounding villages.

Excellent
Room 14 was beautifully appointed. However the cramped space both in the bathroom and bedroom spoilt the luxury feel and became irritating.
