WOW, SO BAD!”

This turned out to be a do it yourself hotel. No housekeeping whatsoever. Hyatt has used the pandemic to cheap out as much as possible. If I want to make my own bed, I can just stay home. If I want to fix my stopped up sink, well I can call a plumber or do it myself. Same for the broken toilet seat. And so on. Been here twice before, but NEVER AGAIN.

Best Value in Charleston”

My wife and I have happily stayed at the Hyatt Place twice, and we had a fine experience both times. The buffet breakfast is okay, and the location can be a pro or con depending on who you are. Situated right on King St., it's located in a strategic spot as a visitor, but it can be loud at night on the weekends due to music from the nearby bars. Other than that, the rooms and basic amenities are fine, and parking in the garage isn't too expensive ($18/night).

Very good”

The room was adequate. It was fairly clean. The bed was a little hard and the comforter was stained but it was covered with a blanket both over and under it. The water pressure in the shower was horrible. My husband says you have to stay in the shower thirty minutes just to get wet. It was a tiny single stream of water and it was barely lukewarm. The hot breakfast was horrible. The bacon was steamed. No hint of crispness. The individually wrapped sausage and chicken biscuits were also steamed in the cellophane. The eggs were instant and watery. They did have individual muffins, cereal, fruit, and yogurt that was good. They offered a valet parking add on for $36. The first day we waited over 30 minutes for our car and there was only one car ahead of us. The valet guy was by himself. We were told they were short staffed. In my opinion the service should have never been offered if they couldn’t cover it. We were able to convert to a$20 a day self park option in the nearby parking garage. The rooftop bar was good although we did not have any food so can’t review that. The location of the hotel was really good with lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The employees were also nice although we had someone knock on our door twice with random things we had supposedly requested. One was a remote and the other was a pillow. Made me wonder if maybe they were checking to see if we were in the room. One time when we didn’t get to the door right away they opened it and walked in after we were assured by the front fest that no one would enter our room. We had to request things like clean towels and toilet paper and they would leave it outside of our room. It was totally not worth the amount of money we paid.

Nice hotel! ”

While this hotel is a bit pricey, it isn't bad for a hotel on the edge of the historic district. You have to walk a bit to get to the heart of the shopping and even further for some of the historic and waterfront attractions. If you are into the weekend nightlife, the hotel is in a perfect location. Room was nice, had a few troubles with plumbing but the staff took care of them. Parking garage next door (pay daily rate but have unlimited in and out privileges) was very convenient. Nice patio area (would be nicer if they enforced the no smoking rule). Could use filtered water fountains. Overall nice hotel!
