Excellent hotel all-around: facilities, staff, location, cleanliness”
In Hong Kong, getting around in the MTR is the best mode of transportation for oversea visitors - it reaches almost any corners in the city, runs frequently, and directions and stops are clearly marked in English. And hotels that situate close to MTR stations are always the preferred one. Hyatt Regency Sha Tin Hotel is just 3min walk from the University MTR station. From there one can go to all the major spots in the city. It's a bit away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, and is surrounded by a lot of green with a gorgeous view of the Tolo Harbour. Because it's away from the city center, it's more affordable than those in Tsim Sha Tsui, for example. However, with MTR, one can reach TST in less than 30 minutes, and it's a pleasant and easy commute. The staffs are courteous, the facilities including the swimming pool and the gym are well maintained, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Highly recommended.
Away from the hustle and bustle”
The options in Hong Kong are so great that in hindsight I feel I would have been better off right in the centre of town. However I opted for the Hyatt regency on the basis that I had read of the ease of using the train system, reviews typically offered good comments, and best of all the price was very good for a 5 star facility. Being completely unfair, thanks to my suffering a bout of nausea resulting in 2 very ‘crappy’ days, my 4 days in Hong Kong / Hyatt Regency was not what I had hoped for. Can I blame the Hyatt for the nausea and excessive vomiting given that I had only eaten its food for the previous 24 hours? I don’t know, so we will leave that one alone. What I will tell you is from the exterior the Hyatt isn’t at all pretentious, the entry foyer is nothing particularly special, and the main eatery is just a little above average. However, take dollars and other things into account and it has a lot going for it. Views of the harbour are brilliant, the swimming pool is terrific and the room we had was almost fabulous. A little strange as suggested by some others in having a dining room that isn’t particularly well equipped. But hey, it was well sized, was graced with a decent couch, great desk and chair, small table, king size bed, and excellent bathroom. And then there were the terrific staff. They fell over themselves to help, in particular Steven (from memory) Lui who managed the Club area on the 25th floor. Steve was simply brilliant and a credit to the Hyatt Regency. We were on the 16th floor in a Club King with the usual entitlements of 3 hours of happy hour during which you can eat and drink to your heart’s content, they also serve breakfast and the list goes on. My only real complaint (aside from getting sick) was the bed. It was hard, much harder than I am used to and much more than that experienced in the hotel I am currently in plus 2 China based hotels slept in prior to the Hyatt (all on the same holiday). Ultimately I had very poor
Hong Kong Gem”
Hyatt Regency Sha Tin is a great hotel. Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a Junior Suite -which was enormous for Hong Kong. The room itself was massive, with a really nice view of the Harbour in Sha Tin. Really nice modern room, with huge bathroom containing separate shower and bath. TV and couch were appropriate and not out of place. Room contained everything, including microwave, plates and cutlery for those intending on extended stays. Great view of the harbour at night. Only negative is the distance from Central, although if you have time the University MTR station is literally right outside the hotel (maybe a 3-4 minute stroll). Overall, I'd definitely stay here again, unless I had to be in Central/HK Island.
The stay at Hyatt Regency Sha Tin Hotel was wonderful. We decided to book this hotel for our Honeymoon. It turned out that the hotel service was beyond our expectation (judging from the amount that we paid for the room). The hotel was situated near the University MTR station, which allowed you to commute easily. The room (level 6) offered excellent scenery (sea/harbour view). On top of that, the room was relatively 'larger' than any of the previous hotel I stayed in Hong Kong. I would definitely consider this hotel for my next trip.
A true 5 Star Proprty”
hyatt regency sha tin hkg positive: true 5 star hotel in an excellent location near the chinese university. the regency club facilities on the 25th floor are worth booking. the complimentary evening cocktail includes unlimited good wine. the staff are extremely helpful. bicycles can be hired, and cycle tracks are nearby. negative: there is quite a bit of smog in hong kong, but much more in the centre than at sha tin.
Hyatt luxury at affordable price”
the regency suite had excellent views as did the executive lounge where the snacks, canapes and drinks were excellent. it was all worth the price since i was with mum who couldn't have travelled or walked as a tourist would in hk, so staying in for a day became easy with breakfast and dinner almost paid for in the price of the room. good views, good food and drinks and a relaxed atmosphere away from the humdrum helped connect with mum after a long time. the food in the main restaurant was great and it was indeed 5 star service when i cringed a bit when mum wanted freshly squeezed mix fruit juice instead of the individual squeezed ones available on the buffet - but they got it for her. and also did the egg hard boiled instead of the soft boil on the buffet. just that it did take 4 different waiters to figure out what i was saying when i said 'hard boiled', not sure if they understood 'haboy' or were just sounding it when they questioned hard-boiled. but then english is not my first language and restaurants may have a different term for what we wanted. lack of international channels - apart from your regular cnn bbc discovery etc. was disappointing. with business hub for asians as well as others, i expected more asian international channels. the bus service from hyatt sha tin to hyatt downtown was much useful. on a different note must appreciate the name for their bar 'tin'tin' in sha tin - but it was always empty and boring. yet all in all relaxed stay and no complaints.
Beautiful hotel, but far from key city points”
This was my third time staying at the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin and I continue to enjoy this hotel very much. It is beautiful, afordable, and very comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The only negative about the hotel is that it is far from Tsim Sha Tsui and Hong Kong Island (Central) where I like to visit most on my vacation. The hotel is right next to the MTR, which is quite convenient, but it still takes a while to get where I want to go.
Excellent hotel in New Territories”
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin on an overnight transit with an early next day flight. The hotel is located approximately 30 minutes away from Hong Kong International Airport. The hotel itself is very new, contains all facilities/services expected from a 5 star hotel in Hong Kong. Very happy to stay here again, provided I don't need to be on HK Island/Kowloon as it's a bit of a distance away.
Visit to Hong Kong”
We found Hyatt Regency Sha Tin Hong Kong excellent in its newness, cleanliness, decoration and furniture. Rooms were fully equipped both for business or the vacationer. Despite its location being a little away from the Central Hong Kong by it was well connected to the MRT, the University Station. Harbor view rooms had beautiful view of the Bay. Highly recommended for everyone.
Enchanting first time in the Far East”
Our stay was lovely. The hotel staff were attentive, the feeling of the hotel luxurious. The buffet meals were to die for (not cheap, but every kind of food was available that one could possibly think of!). The hotel is in the New Territories, so a half hour away from the southern part of Kowloon, and even more from Hong Kong island. But, the subway system (the MTR) was mere steps from the hotel door, so getting places was not a problem. Overall, a very pleasant stay at the Sha Tin Hyatt Regency.
It was our first time staying at the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin Hotel and we never had heard about it but it looked very good on the pictures on Agoda.com search site. When we got there we were very impressed first by the nice staff and then by our very spacious room. The room is very well decorated, the bed is huge and the bathroom is very stylish and big. The next morning we were very impressed by the view we had over the lake... it was gorgeous! The location is great because you just need to go down on the lift and walk a few hundred meters and you have a MTR station. Very convenient!
Excellent staff and a wicked breakfast”
my wife and i needed to get out of shanghai for a few days, and the hyatt regency in sha tin, hong kong couldn't have been more perfect. the location near the university mtr station was convenient to head to kowloon and tst, but a bit far to go to hong kong island. the staff were very accommodating, and when we had a minor problem with our shower, somebody was up to fix the problem in 5 short minutes. the gym and spa area were very well maintained, as were the rooms.
Fantastic Hotel in a quieter part of Hong Kong”
My first stay at the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin and I was impressed all the way. Much better than I expected. Nice retreat hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong city. Only drawback was that there isn't much to see or do after hours near the hotel and the cellular phone network coverage was appalling as well in most parts of the hotel so be prepared to be not contactable during your stay there. The extra key card without asking and the room electricity supply card was a nice touch.
Gems in Sha Tin!!!”
We were quite hesitate to have this hotel beginning as read from the location, is really far. Decided to give it a try and its proven we made a correct choice! By having a Train network, it is just 30 mins away from City area like Kowloon. The hotel is within 3 mins walking distance from University Station. We had a late check-in and been told that Connecting Rooms that we booked was fully occupied. For that reason, we were given a free upgrade to the 2 rooms harbour view suites!!!! This really suprise us!!! The suites gave us an unforgattable memory and great experience with Hyatt Regency Sha Tin. You may find a true peace moment in HK here!!

Cosy atmosphere in the big city”
I stayed in the Hyatt Regency in Sha Tin for 3 nights and with all my business travels certainly one of the best hotels I have used over the last 24 months.. A super team from the check in desk to all the different service areas, with delicious food, excellent & thankyou chefs. It is so worth a try despite not be in the hub center of Hong Kong Island.. I will go back for certain..
VERY Good Stay at the Hyatt Regency”
Our stay at the Hyatt Regency in Sha Tin was Great! Good location, 2 min walk to MTR line and buss terminals. Great Service. Managers are personal and remember your name. Good English, even the cleaning staff. Good location if you need to be close to the Shenzhen border. Some commuting to Central but not much of a problem if you familiar with HK's public transport system. If you a first time visitor to HK, I would recommend to stay closer to the Central area. Staff are SUPER friendly and very well trained to assist with any request you might have. Speedy and helpful front desk and room service. Free Hotel buss to the city. This makes traveling to Central much more easier. For the return bus, try to be early as it could get full and you stuck to take the MTR back. All and all this is a Great hotel and I would definitely come back for a long stay. I will not search for any other hotels in HK going forward. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay wonderful.
Away From It”
If interested in a location far from the hustle of Hong Kong and Kowloon the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin would be a good choice. Easily accessible from and to the airport by bus (A41 every 20 minutes), it is also just 2 or 3 train stops from Tai Poh market and Sha Tin stations which have the commercial (many but not most) establishments mainland HKG and Kowloon has to offer. Hotel is quite new, rooms clean and comfortably sized, and the facilities excellent (gym and pool). The Hyatt Gold Passport Lounge has good food for both afternoon cocktails and breakfast. Maybe because of the occupancy rate in the New Year, the hotel did not consider a late check out request even for a Gold Passport holder and stuck to the 1PM schedule. Not really a good way to keep regular clients especially with other five-star hotels giving similar privileges.
Big Room with great service”
It is very difficult to get a hotel in Hong Kong with nice view, big room, good service staff and modern design yet at very economic price. Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Sha Tin Hotel give me all the surprise by having all above feature.
Great hotel location, away from the bustling city.”
This Hyatt is unusual from the rest of Hong Kong in that it is at a peaceful part of Sha Tin .... Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. For the (lower) price of rooms , you still get the 5* Hyatt quality with bigger rooms than most of Hong Kong hotels... With the money saved, you can get a taxi into town.. Ask fir an ocean facing room for great views. The club rooms on the 25th floor have fantastic views as we'll...
Take a look at these facilities:
