A Great Hotel in Hong Kong”

This was the third time that we have stayed at the Ibis North Point and I happily give it five stars – bearing in mind that it is a budget hotel. The room is small but appears to have been designed by someone with experience in designing caravans or river boats. Sufficient storage is tucked away, all with recessed handles so nothing catches as you walk past. There is a safe, tea/coffee making facilities, a hair drier. Fast and free internet is available and there is a flat screen TV, which we never used. The lighting is brilliant. The bed is comfortable, with a double bed rather than twins there is a bit more floor space. The desk is just wide enough for a laptop with two power plugs at desk level and a third below the desk; no grovelling required. Some people may find it difficult to work as the desk is at the window and the window looks out onto Hong Kong harbour! For this view at the Mandarin Oriental you would be paying over $5,000 a night. Unfortunately if you want to enjoy the view you will have to go soon; foundations are going in across the road and my guess would be that a year from now there will be no view. The bathroom is probably a little smaller than the one we had on our last river cruise, but it works really well. My only criticism is that there is no power point, but that may be Hong Kong building regulations rather than the hotel. The towels were big and new. The Staff were great, on the three mornings we went down to breakfast then returned to the room it had been made up whilst we were away. I have eaten much worse breakfast buffets at very expensive hotels. There wasn’t a lot of variety, but there was plenty of food and crucially it was always hot! North Point is perhaps a little away from things, but the entrance to the Mass Transit is less than 50 metres away and once on that you can go anywhere in Hong Kong.

    Fantastic harbor sea view”

Very convenient location, just a stone throw from the North Point MTR station, fantastic panorama harbor sea view, clean room, bed and towels and friendly hotel staff services.
Small size room, but acceptable, considering the reasonable price offered.

For visitors to Hong Kong looking for a budget hotel room, I strongly recommend IBIS North Point. It is good value for money compared with other low price hotels and guest houses. I read both the pros and cons comments about IBIS North Point when making my reservation, but the hotel facilities turned out to be much higher than my expectation. Above all, I find the North Point area where the hotel is located not too crowded compared to other central locations in Hong Kong. Restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets and transportation are all readily available around the area.

    Just The Right Hotel”

hotel is just beside north point mtr station exit a

what we liked most about this hotel is that it is super near the mtr station. it was our third stay at this hotel. we often go to hong kong to shop so we carry tons of bags when coming back to the hotel at night so it is really a plus factor that ibis north point hotel is just beside exit a of north point mtr station. the room was big enough for us with the view of the harbour. our previous stays at this hotel did not have wifi access but we're quite happy that this time around they have provided free wifi in the room! what we didn't like is that the hotel has only two elevators and very slow ones--not enough for hotel guests traffic.

    Basic plus a bit more”

Ibis North Point provides the basic needs of a basic traveller in HK. But apart from accommodations , the other good things about this hotel are: Transportation + proximity (2 min walk) to the North Point Ferry Pier Bus Station with links to and from the airport (A11 bus) + proximity (2 min walk) to the North Point Ferry Pier itself that links you to the Hong Hum and Kowloon Ferry Piers + just 1 min way from the North Point MTR exit A1 + within the 100-150m radius are the tram and bus stations Hotel Staff + Staff are proficient in English so it's easy to get what you need (I'm surprised that some bigger hotels are not proficient in English) + Assistance is provided immediately (my safe wasn't working and help was sent right away) + They provide same-day free luggage storage Meanwhile, these are some minuses about the hotel: + Only 2 elevators + Most of the harbour views are now blocked by a new building + Request for room w/ a view is likely to be refused

    Great Place to Stay”

A stones throw from the MTR.
    The elevators were extremely slow

From all that we'd read about Hong Kong accommodation we were prepared for the shoebox style room, and found it perfect. The room was modern, clean and quiet, with wifi accessiblity. We were higher enough up and on the harbour facing side to have wonderful views late at night and in the morning. After a long day of shopping the last thing we wanted was to walk for a while back to our hotel, that's why North Point Ibis is perfect, jump on the MTR, get off at North Point, take the A1 exit, turn right, walk for 50m and then you are there, couldn't have been easier. This also allows you to eat in central or Causeway Bay and then tube it back.

    Amazing harbour view hotel room.”

Amazing harbour view from the hotel room, close to public transport and close to local restaurants.

At first during our stay in the hotel we were given the city view hotel room which was facing the neighbour building, but after some discussion with the staffs we were finally given a harbour view hotel room which makes our stay in the hotel far more enjoyable than being at the other room as the view is very outstanding and we get to see the harbour and ships getting to and from the ferry pier, even cruise ships etc. The hotel itself is very close to the North Point subway station which makes going out to see attractions in Hong Kong a very easy task to do. Enjoying the local restaurants near the hotel is also a good and fun thing to do because the local food taste is very good and also the price is not too expensive compared to eating in the malls in Hong Kong.

    Great location and amazing views.”

Close to MTR station for Hong Kong Island, great breakfasts overlooking the harbour, friendly staff, great room service.

our stay at ibis north point hotel hong kong was very comfortable. the rooms are not very big but we were only in them at night time so it was not a big issue. the maid service was excellent every day and our room was always tidy when we came back at night. we had a buffet breakfast most days in the hotel and for $55hk it was a very good deal. it only has 2 elevators and could have perhaps been better with 3 but you have to expect a small delay at times. overall a great stay with some of the most stunning views over victoria harbour.

Very tidy, great value for Hong Kong”

Ibis North Point is very tidy & great value for Hong Kong. The staff is very helpful and obliging. The included breakfast is pretty good, other than that eat elsewhere (it's pretty grim though prices are low) Rooms are very small but well appointed with high quality pillows and mattresses, kettle, wi-fi stable hot shower water. I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions for its location and economy. HOWEVER, each time I have had problems with other guests talking loudly in the hallways, slamming their doors at 3 am. Bring earplugs.

Convenient no-frills hotel in North Point”

Over the week, it's provided a clean fuss-free stay on Hong Kong Island. The best part about staying here is the location. It's smack outside the Java Road exit of the MTR. There's an elevator to take up, though the walk to the hotel will be slightly further for taking the elevator. So if you're not carrying a luggage then the stairs will lead you straight to the entrance of the hotel. Just unfortunate that upon check in, there were a couple of men outside the entrance with a step ladder doing maintenance work on the facade, that caused a slight delay in the eventual check-in experience. It is no fault of the hotel's, so will not let that affect the overall experience of staying at IBIS North Point.

a good place to stay on Hong Kong island”

sits on subway station, great views from rooms, near tram line

This hotel sits on the Northpoint subway station exit A1 which is well connected to the island line and the airport bullet train. It is also near the North Point tram line station which is a cheap and great way to see the city. There are some local markets and shopping centers nearby and the ocean view rooms are wonderful. Rooms are a tight squeeze but everything is in there and they do keep it clean. Elevators are few between, look for the staff elevator just behind the door in the main coridor on all floors, that saves half the waiting time. Star ferry is in front of hotel but it only goes to Kowloon City and West TST. That would get you to the Train station to the mainland well but not to the TST you may want to go to...about a 20 minute walk after the ferry to the walk of fame area for example. great thing about this hotel is it is affordable on Hong Kong island, very nice for the price and well connected.

Nice and Clean but Ultra Small Rooms”

Free Internet, Modern Looking, Near to MTR & Bus Station & Ferry Terminal, Friendly Service

We booked a room with a seaview. It indeed has very clear and nice view of the North Point Ferry Terminal but was slightly disappoint by the fact that the window also doubles as the vanity mirror. So, you'll have to turn off the lights in order to get a good view of the sea. Room is very modern in design and has all the basic necessity required for a comfortable stay. The washroom drains well unlike most hotels in Hong Kong whereby the drainage piping used is very small in diameter and is frequently clogged. The reception is very friendly towards all guests and we're greeted with a smile even though we checked in late without informing them. Their service is fast and efficient. The only complaint that i have is their room is ultra small sized. So compact and small that it's the size of a regular Malaysian household washroom. If you have a huge luggage then you'll be left with very little space to move around. Also another let down for me is for such a reputable hotel, they actually offer adult pay per view channels which is a strict no for those travelling with children.

Very good location for both Metro and Airport Bus”

Location one minute from Metro subway and airport bus. Restaurant very reasonable

Hong Kong harbour views need not be expensive! I stayed in room 2210 with a great harbour view. Room was located on 22nd floor so view was good. Some people expressed delay issues with there being only 2 elevators. I stayed one week and the longest I waited which was only once was about 5 minutes. All other times the elevator waiting time was fine. I found the Ibis North Point ideally located at the terminus of the A11 airport bus which was a blessing as well as on the door stop of the Metro and near the HK island tram and bus services too. The restaurant was very reasonable at about U$6 for an all-you-can-eat breakfast. Food choice was basic in line with the no-frills positioning of the Ibis brand. Room was very clean but basic but the bed was very comfortable. Free wifi helped keep me to budget.

Right next to North Point MTR, clean quiet room

This is a typical clean, comfortable but no-frills Ibis Hotel like one encounters in Europe. My room was very small (only a little room around the bed), but this is typical for Hong Kong. The bed was very comfortable and my room was quiet, despite the hotel being full. I enjoyed being in the heart of the interesting North Point neighbourhood -- think street markets and lots of Hong Kong-style snack restaurants. The MTR (subway) was about 30 seconds away.

    Clean, new rooms. Efficient service,

Ibis North point provides an affordable alternative to more expensive joints at other parts of town. Unlike the rest of North Point, the Ibis is clean and brand new. The service staff are also very efficient and able to address most queries. The only drawback is that the rooms, like many others in Hong Kong, are tiny.

room is really small but that is normal on hong kong hotel standard. pathway inside the room basically doesn't allow two people to move in opposite direction. other than room size, everything else in the room is fine. most importantly it is clean. we got a room that gives a spectacular view across the strait to tsim sha tsui. the hotel is very close to north point mrt station and is only one station away from centre point. there is a ferry wharf right in front of the hotel where you can take a ferry to tsim sha tsui.

    The Perfect Choice”

The staff, the cleanliness and the location

My flat in North Point needed to have a water leakage problem fixed, so I wanted a reasonably priced hotel in North Point that I could stay in and continue to teach my students. The Ibis was a perfect choice. I chose a harbor view so that my students and I could view and discuss the many boats in the harbor and see Lion Rock in the background. We had a perfect place to view the busy harbor, add new vocabulary and write about the experience. A Man was a lovely person who cleaned my room each day (20th floor). I will recommend the Ibis to friends in the future!

    Excellent Value”

    1-Location, 2-Modern Design, 3-Cleanliness

The very best thing about the Ibis North Point Hotel is that it is literally 3 minutes from the MTR. It is easy to get to from the airport if you use the Airport Express and then transfer to the MTR blue line. (Or you can use the Airport Expresses shuttle service to take you to your hotel as well.) It is on the blue line, which we ended up using frequently to get to different areas we wanted to explore. This made our trip incredibly easy--no fussing about buses, trams, or taxis. Also we spent one day just walking from our hotel to Causeway Bay area to just sightsee and take in any shopping. There were plenty of things to do, and it was quite an enjoyable walk. The hotel itself is very sleek and has a mod design. It looks new and clean. (A small con is that it appears there is no security, so technically I suppose anyone could walk in, take an elevator, and get off on any floor. HOWEVER, the neighborhood seemed to be very safe. I wouldn't be worried about that.) The men at the front desk when we arrived and left were very helpful, and most importantly very fast. They spoke great English, and were eager to answer any questions we had. The rooms were what I would consider large for staying in a city in Asia. Most city hotels are small, with just enough room to make it from the bed to the TV and bathroom, but our room was spacious. We had a comfortable mattress, refrigerator, tea, and a gorgeous view of the harbor. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. The shower is extremely small. I mean, you can only turn around in a circle. No moving your limbs about. Our friends felt the same. It was probably the only real issue we had here, and that is something that just can't be fixed so we dealt with it. Fun Fact: we didn't know this until our last day there, but if you stop on the first floor reception area in the morning, they have a little spread of free pastries and baked goods for you. They weren't amazing, but they were free!

    All good”

Great location for public transport; fantastic, uninterrupted harbour views; friendly, very helpful staff.
Stains on the carpet cheapened the look/feel.

This was my first stay the Ibis and I was quite happy with everything. The price was unbeatable, and when I arrived and saw the view from my room, I was very impressed. The location of the hotel is great, with the MTR and buses (both local and to/from the ariport) right outside the front door. The tram is only a short walk away, on King's Road. There are some small restarants with great food in the area too, all within 2 minutes walk. See my Quick Tip to learn more. Another great eatery is on the street behind the hotel. Turn right out the door, right again, and right again. It's on your right, it's small and has ducks/chickens/geese in the window. Ask for a mixed plate of meat (boiled chicken, roast duck, roast goose, roast pork), vegetables and you will not be able to eat it all! The price was great too. Enjoy Hong Kong. Find your own way. It's the best way!
