This ryokn is one of the best. Everthing was perfect: Delicious food, beautifully decorated rooms, lovely staff and perfect location to explore the island. The shared bathrooms are actually more like a mini-onsen, which are very clean and that you can lock while using. Would definitely stay here again.
both breakfast and dinner were very nice, highly recommended
Stay here for the food”
Suggest to take a <800 yen taxi from the ferry terminal if you have wheeled luggage. Room is big and top notch in cleaniness. Wished for a humidifier unit as it was dry. There are two shared but very nice shower/tub rooms for up to seven motel rooms so you need to fight it out with the others at night. Do take the half board package. Dinner was so wonderful that we couldn't find anything close for the rest of our trip.
Cozy ryokan with superb dinner”
The place is near the gate and the Shinto temple, but in a quiet area, appart from the touristy streets full of souvenir shops. Service is outstanding and with halp pensipon I enjoyed a great dinner with many, many, many dishes (the oyster stew was superb). Breakfast is good. Rooms are clean and have a toilet. It is great to sleep in Miyajima stroll by night in the desert town.
Friendly, clean, good food”
Very welcoming lady runs this place. Has all facilities you need. Bathroom is shared but not really an issue as you still have a toilet in room and shower room can be locked or you can enjoy the Japanese bath. Food was great and Miyajima island is lovely. Well worth the money.
Beautiful hotel with amazing food!”
The hotel was beautiful, with very comfortable and relaxing bath spaces and rooms. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating and the food was beautifully presented and even more delicious to eat :). I would highly recommend this ryokan.
A Japanese and Western fusion Inn”
This Inn is a mix between a Japanese Ryokan and a western hotel. It has a limited number of rooms, some western style and some Japanese style. It also has some shared baths in the style of an onsen but which cab be locked from the inside for privacy. The room (we stayed in a Japanese style room) was very spacious and clean. The dinner was a particular highlight, 9 courses of kaiseki style food. There is a choice at breakfast between western or Japanese style. We chose western, which included: cereal, yogurt, fruit, bacon, egg, breads, sausage, chicken nuggets and salad.
It was lovely to get the island to ourselves once the ferries stopped running (all the day tourists leave then) and then going back to this glorious hotel. It's kind of a cross between a ryokan and a hotel. The bathroom is incredible. If it seems pricey, it isn't. Dinner and breakfast are included and they are both many courses (7 courses for dinner and 3 for breakfast) and a culinary treat! The staff were lovely too, really polite and helpful. Would completely recommend!!
Very nice stay”
Shared Bathroom are private sento (onsen with tap water). Room very confortable. Amazing dinner in 8-9 dishes. Really good breakfast. Friendly staff. In front of aquarium, 25 min walk from Pier, 5 min walk from main shrine.
this place is great, HIGHLY recommanded, I think while the dinner seems at first sight a little high, it is not, because for 5400 Yen you get a gourmet 8 courses dinner, excellent food, excellent presentation and services well above the restaurant average and experience in Japan. Dont hesitate stay and EAT there. Pascal
Excellent experience ”
The dinner and breakfast were wonderful. Should try the western breakfast if u like. Silent and comfortable place. Could enjoy the night view of the shrine since it is quite nearby. The staff were so kind and helpful.
Such a cute place, just around the corner along the beach from the torii gate! They also gave me a delicious Japanese breakfast, which is extra amazing because I can't eat gluten and they did their best to accommodate me.
Breakfast was an experience on it's own :)”
This is a lovely place to stay! the staff are so very friendly and accommodating. The room was really lovely with everything provided that you could think of. Having the use of a lovely private hot spring bath with no extra cost was fantastic. A great first bathing experience in Japan. Our breakfast was FABULOUS, with lots of yummy food to keep you going all day. It seemed to just keep coming out and we were suitably stuffed :)
Cheap lodging you can get on this island. The room was super awesome. The bath was super awesome as well. Get the one with the dinner. It's worth it. Only downside is no lift and a little far from the ferry terminal. But you can get a cab easily outside the ferry terminal and the staff can get a cab for you when you're going back to the ferry terminal. It's just a 5-10 minutes walk to Itsukushima Shrine, depending on how fast you walk.
A little gem”
A wonderful experience in Japanese-style accommodation. If you want to experience sleeping on futons and the adventure of a Japanese hot-tub, you'll enjoy this enormously. Make sure you book a taxi from the ferry, though, because it's a long walk with suitcases. The host and hostess are helpful and hospitable, and we had the best breakfast we've had in Japan. Don't miss it.
Lovely hotel with hottube”
Had a great stay here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food (diner & breakfast) is a Miyajima highlight by itself. 11 courses of Japanese goodness. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable &clean. One small downside could be you don't have your own shower but this is more than compensated with a genuine Japanese hottub. The bathing rooms are for private use. Also the location is a bit far from the pier so a taxi or bus is recommended (1100¥ for a taxi). However the remote location is a plus since it is away from the crowds who come for a short day visit. Definitely recommended.
Charming easy-going ryokan”
We stayed here two years ago and could not wait to get back. Even though we have also experienced high-end ryokans(on Miyajima and elsewhere in Japan)somehow we still think of Auberge Mizuhaso as the most charming. We stayed two nights this time, and the dinner - which is the most elaborate affair - was completely different each evening. The hotel is very clean and the rooms (though smaller than in typical ryokan) are stylish.
A First Class Little Ryokan!”
This little gem is located in a quiet section of town, away from the masses of day-trippers who ferry over to see the famous torii. Our room was quite comfortable and the breakfast, whether Japanese or western style, was delicious and filling. The owner is delightful and her staff was friendly and accommodating. Do yourself a favour and book dinner in advance. It is well worth the money! If you're fortunate enough to get a reservation for Auberge Mizuhaso, you won't be disappointed!
Liked this Japaneas style hotel. The down side was that the hotel is located about 1.2 Km from the ferry station and there are only 3 taxis on the island so you will have to wait or walk your way to the hotel. Food is good.
Cozy ryokan serving superb food ”
We were not sure what to expect from Auberge Mizuhaso as both the hotel description and some user reviews somehow implied that it was a budget accommodation. However, our worries evaporated after we were shown to our room by our caring and friendly hostess: the room and the bathroom were new, immaculately clean and comfortable. By the time we came down to have our dinner (a welcome change to a ryokan's tradition of serving meals in one's room) we were completely won over by the place and its owners' ambitions - each dish during our kaiseki style meal was delicious and beautiful, equaling the level of quality typically expected of luxurious ryokans. Breakfast was equally delightful. If ever on Miyajima again, Auberge Mizuhaso will be our first choice.
