Great hotel in lovely San Sebastián ”
We were travelling as a family of four (two adults, young child and baby). The room was a good size with a cot for baby and sofa bed for our daughter. Good location with parking and great breakfast.
Very nice hotel with secure, adequate parking. It's a bit of a walk to the centre though (30 minutes) and not much in the neighborhood. Very easy to get out of the city though . Very nice staff. They have a cantina which is very good
From the consierge to the barman everyone greeted us with a smile. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The decor is different but contemporary. Rooms adequate and value for money. Downside no tea coffee making facilities.
Never has a hotel made a grown man cry to leave it!”
Words, images cannot describe nor do justice. Must be experienced. Booked the wrong way around, Astoria first then craptastic Mercure!
Good location just a 10minute walk to the front. One way system confuses satnav so be carfefulbif you need to garage your car, turn before the hotel to the large up and over door BEFORE you arrive at reception.
I saw stars at the Astoria 7”
Great location, lovely and very helpful staff. Will be back again in September and may have found my regular hotel in San Sebastián
Fun hotel, helpful staff”
Cute atmosphere being converted out of an old movie theatre. Staff was really helpful and cheerful - answering all our questions and letting us check-in early at 8am. It's a little far from old town (20+ minute walk) but just 10 minutes from the bus station (good for day trips to Bilbao, etc).
The hotel has a fun vibe. The rooms are decorated differently so it's the luck of the draw to see which celebrity will 'host' you for the night. Locationwise it's a bit off the beaten path. Clean and chic though.
Great staff and service! The rest pretty mediocre.”
The receptionists were very friendly and accommodating. Our room could have used a thorough cleaning, my wife found a sticky substance along with body hair on the wall by the bathroom (!). The food in the restaurant was so-so. Overall a decent experience.
Rock n Roll”
Stay was below average. Rooms are nothe comfortable. No robes no slippers no headboard except a large block of hard wood do bang your head on. No iron. Staff are awful and used to a business traveller. They are rude and uncaring. Asked for assistance on several occasions, for example with finding a restaurant after 10pm answer: there isn't anything (turns out there's a local place 2 minute walk) restaurant and bar staff ignore us for 15 minutes standing at the bar (answer: yes but restaurant is closed so they're busy) bar was still open at this point. Explain a family member has been taken ill answer: I don't understand what she wants, this was said in Spanish in front of me (I speak fluent spanish) so many other examples like this. Staff are unable to find solutions and demonstrate no care whatsoever. When you go to do anything at reception you will be ignored for 5 minutes whilst they carry on typing without so much as a glance at you. If you're staying for a night I'm sure it's fine any longer and I would avoid and go to the Londres or elsewhere.
Room was at back of hotel, overlooking flats where construction work was going on, it was very noisy. We asked to be moved but were told this wouldn't be possible. Room clean and bed comfortable. There was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, nor was there any water. Movie star theme was a nice touch. Very close to bus station, but a circa 20 min walk into town.
Was happily surprised with our booking at this hotel. I didn't had big expectations as per the pictures and some of the other guests reviews where they were complaining about how tired the hotel looked. But I was very happy to find that this hotel isn't tired at all, it is very well maintained, with a kind of an interesting motive of decorations all around inspired on Cinema!. My room which was just standard was huge, and all furniture looked very well maintained, the bed was great, bathroom was huge and always the maids made a very good job cleaning the room. The location is a bit away from the center but was fun walking to and from the center - it takes around 15 minutes and with the weather of San Sebastian is always nice to take a walk. I was very impressed with this hotel and the price was right - we've stayed 4 nights and I have no complaints... all was great...! too bad I forgot my iphone charger, my cheese and a bottle of champagne in my room... I guess this is a sign that I'll be back there ;)) I will definitely be back. To other reviewers who scored this hotel low - you are totally wrong!. Also because of their Cinema theme they provide guests with the service of DVD rental (for free)... and it was neat to find some all movies to enjoy in the evening.
HUGE gripe, no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and I couldn't even get a cup and some hot water to make my own. To me this is standard in any 1 star property. Rooms are small and basic. No laundry, ice or many other facilities in the hotel that would normally be offered in a 4 star property. If you need to print something you have to email it to reception and they do it for you- OK if they are not busy but expect to wait a long time if they are. Nice friendly, accommodating reception staff usually, just don't ask them for a cup and some hot water. Heated floor in bathroom is great!
stylish hotel, but no room service.”
Clean room and great hospitality”
It was a pleasant 3 nights stay. Location near to both downtown and the Anoeta Stadium. Room interior is clean and has very interesting theme. The staff are very helpful and there is a great cafeteria at level serving good coffee.
Friendly staff with a good vibe”
Great - very enjoyable.
Fantastic, clean, friendly & multilingual”
My favourite hotel of our whole two week stay in Spain. It had everything. It was clean, spacious and luxurious. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was unique as every room was assigned an actor/actress who had visited the city. The room came with TV with numerous channels, DVD player, safe, minibar etc. There was extremely secure garage parking. I cannot comment on food as we didn't eat there. I would recommend staying there and will stay again when I next visit the city.
an homage to film stars”
A very brief stay in Astoria 7 but we would both recommend and return to it. A fun atmosphere created around film stars and films with amusing touches such as Alfred Hitchcock by reception. Location made it easy to get both out of and into the centre of San Sebastian. A useful underground car park albeit expensive as if oft the case in Spain.
