Pros: under 10 mins driving to centre, nice building, very cosy, nice garden bar Cons: limited parking for $15, have to ask for toothpaste/brush
Luxury accommodation in the heart of Canberra”
What a treat to stay here! A beautiful room with king bed, coffe maker, luxury products and even a a great iron. I didn't try the restaurant but the menu looked good, and the bar area was beautiful. Helpful and friendly staff. Would recommend and hope to stay here again!
Sleek but not comfortable. Booked and paid for a room for three people, expecting beds. Told on arrival we were given a trundle bed and there was an extra fee for its use - which one staff said was $15, and another said was $40. Only when we urged them to recheck did they waive it. Very little parking, and $15 a night to use. Thin heritage walls, so it was cold and occasionally noisy. Hot water system was spasmodic. Not worth the exorbitant price.
Second time at the hotel”
Stayed here again on the way to Melbourne. The room was overlooking courtyard which was wonderful. Unfortunately, we got the room with pillar next to bed but everything else was fine. Will stay here again in the future but will request for a different room.
Hotel with history”
Very good and friendly staffs. The location is within walking distance to parliament building but not close to a lot of restaurants and coffee shops. The hotel has a very rich history and former prime misters have stayed here. Got the room on level 1 overlooking the back of hotel (not much view) so very good privacy. Disappointed with dusty desk and parking. There are parking spaces ($15) in front of hotel and around the back which are full during our stay.
Once again a great stay”
Still the best place to stay in Canberra
My partner & I have stayed at this hotel previously and were enchanted by its old world charm, modern facilities & excellent service. I am pleased to say that it still maintains its high standards. Love the location, which is convenient to all the major galleries, Kingston market & eateries, yet retains its peaceful ambience. Keep an eye out for specials. Highly recommended !
Grand old Dame”
Wonderful location in the parliamentary quarter - very quiet on the weekends. Would definitely need a car though, as it's a bit of a walk anywhere (as are most things in Canberra.) Breakfast buffet was a bit of a letdown - the cooked part anyway - the Continental was good. Staff were friendly and rooms were wonderful, especially the bathroom. Would definitely stay again - just with they had a pool!
We were in Canberra for a walking festival. Hotel very close to walk start. Rooms were wonderful and bed very comfortable. Had to park on street with hotel car park permit as insufficient car spaces due to being a heritage property.
Renovated, Modern, Classic”
I love this hotel and stay here every time I'm in Canberra. Newly renovated but classic. The fire in the foyer is a lovely touch, but as someone who comes from the tropics, I'd love it to be cranked a bit more in the winter! I can never fault this hotel the staff are welcoming and receptive and the food and drinks are lovely.
Exactly what I required for a short stay”
The hotel accommodation was fine but there was no restaurant facilities open at the weekend which meant finding other places for breakfast and other meals - Manuka restaurants were 15 minutes walk away and the ACT Brumbies Rugby club was approximately 500 metres in Blackall Street - the reception staff provided a map and gave directions to these places. A fire alarm around midnight the first night meant evacuating to the front of the building but about 30 minutes after the fire brigade arrived a false alarm was declared and guests were able to return to their rooms.
Lovely and relaxing.”
We loved it here. The Sunday night offer of $99 was excellent value. We arrived in the dark and drove past the hotel as it is set back from the road. However, when we finally arrived it was very welcoming, with open fire in the lobby. We could park out the front,no charge, and the area is very quiet at night. The dining room looked pleasant, but we did not try it.We liked the historic boards and photos, and spent a relaxing hour in the lobby,in comfy chairs in front of the fire, reading newspapers. The room was very comfortable too, with big windows looking out to trees.
Everything perfect again”
Friendly, helpful reception staff. Comfortable bed. Nice decor.
Quick stay - would have liked to stay longer”
Beautiful room - well priced compared to Sydney/Melbourne hotels. Hotel room was spacious. It wasn't in the most central location but if you like to walk around then it's great. The hotel lobby and cafe were lovely. Staff at the front desk were painfully slow at check out time - at least 10 people waiting in line for over 15 minutes. Arriving late at night also I had to answer a quiz before they would let me in the front door. Not very welcoming.
Lovely heritage feel and great location”
We enjoyed a very pleasant quiet and comfortable stay in the Hotel Kurrajong. The hotel has a great history and retains a lovely Art Deco feel. Rooms are up to date, modern and warm so no compromise on guest amenity! The staff are wonderful and the hotel is placed close to great restaurants and cafes if you want to venture away from the restaurant and excellent room service.
Classix Canberra stay”
Beautifully redone hotel. No glam just class with beautiful rooms and we'll designed and thoughtful. Staff efficient even when busy. Lovely grounds, great location
Great potential ”
Grand hotel in perfect location. Our stay was spoilt by staff in both reception & dining. There were a couple of good staff but both “lead” receptionist and “manager” of dining staff seemed totally unaware of what constitutes customer service. In particular the woman on duty whilst we were having dinner on Sunday night was appalling- putting the rest of the staff off balance.
Great historic hotel”
Good service, friendly staff and well appointed rooms.
Staff always available, very friendly, and very helpful. Room very comfortable and good design. Very nice hotel.
The lunch in Thursday could have been better
