Nice hotel with good wifi. I stayed in the dorm and it was crowded and basic but okay facilities considering it was on top of a mountain. Breakfast buffet was included. The hotel is right below Bright Summit which can be reached within 15-20 mins.
Great place to stay at Huangshan Mountain. You can access to any location you needs. The staff is great and update you the weather info for you to plan your visit. Only issue the food is expensive and just bring instant noddles will help.
Best cheap option”
The hotel offers dormitories that are quite expensive for the comfort they offert but is one of the cheapest we have found. It is basically a standard room turned into a dormitory: 8 persons in 10 square meter with one toilet... Full of chinese tourist, often super noisy! But good for one night. They offer a breackfast also -not super good but they have hot drinks.
Easy to book, hotel room was roomy with a view of the mountain pines, decent meals optional at the restaurant downstairs OR visit the convenience store just outside OR have lunch at the foodcourt nearby, scenic 15mins to GuangMing Peak for the sunrise. Highly recommend this experience
A Must for the Ultimate Yellow Mountain Experience”
This hotel is located down the hill from the Brightness Peak. There is convenient store at the hotel and they also have a restaurant. There were warm coats in the room for the sunrise excursion and the room was clean and had everything we needed (all the hotel basics). We stayed 2 nights and it was perfect for 3 days of hiking and allowed us to see most of the Yellow Mountains.
Baiyun hotel is excellent in terms of location up in Huangshan mountains and service by staff. ”
Special mention should go to Ms 王 白 云. She attended to us personally to all our queries and problems. Excellent service. Keep it up.
strategic location for the huangshan hiking route”
Good location, winter cloth provider for sunrise use. Restaurant alacart RMB 300+/dish buffet dinner RMB 120/ppl
Good location with great service from hotel”
The hotel does provide a lot of essential items for the hike during winter. The room is comfy after hike during winter
Good Location ”
In Mt. Huangshan , there is not much choice for the traveller. The location of the hotel you want depends on your own personal itinerary . Baiyun is of a great location since it is near GuangMing Ding . They have a nice canteen for outdoor campers. They can improve on their food,& cleanliness .
I stayed in Xihai Hotel for the first night then moved to Baiyun Hotel as we had planned. Paid the price but felt cheated. The room was old , dirty and the toilet was clogged. The walls was thin and as we reserved the economy room, it was away from the main building. I don't advise as it was raining during my stay. The weather was almost like 4C and I had to walk through the rain to the next block without any shelter. The food is satisfactory but just the normal selection. I guest like other travellers, I would say we had no choice as this was one of the best as we were descending down from the top and needed a night stay.
One of the better hotels on Huangshan ”
After having stayed at five of the hotels on Huangshan now, I think Baiyun is one of the better ones. The standard twin room was pretty decent compared to the other hotels, and it actually wasn’t freezing in the room without the heater on (we were there in early February when it was -16 degree Celsius overnight). Staff was actually friendly and breakfast was decent. The only thing I didn’t like was that people would smoke in the hallways even though they are not supposed to.
Nice hotel at the top of the mountain”
Our room was small and when we just checked in, the smell was bad. When we rang the front desk the attendant came quite quickly and opened the window for us and let the fresh breeze came in. It was ok after that. The room was clean and comfortable. It was raining and they had large umbrellas and winter jackets/ raincoats in the room for us to use free of charge. People at the base of the mountain may tell you not to take umbrella s up there as it is too windy. Ignore such advice. Because you walk through a lot of trees, it is not windy, only if you climb up to the top of the open areas. Be aware that from the ropeway (cable car) to the hotel, there are a lot of steep steps to climb. The food at the hotel is quite expensive and not that much varieties but you need to appreciate that those poor workers have to carry the supplies on their shoulders from the cable car to the hotel, up many hundreds of steep steps.
Expensive, but worth the money”
We are students, therefore we do not have loads of money when travelling. However, we splurged on a private bedroom instead of dorm beds and could not have been happier! The twin room was really clean, with clean bedding, complementary tea, a beautiful glass shower and a nice view on the mountain. The breakfast was included in our reservation, which is nice, and even though the buffet-style breakfast is not very warm, it is incredibly welcome. We feel like it was worth spending more money for more privacy, comfort and luxury.
Very satisfied but expensive”
Location - Very strategic location. Need to climb 20 mins (0.5km stairs) to reach the bright summit. Consider the nearest hotel to the bright summit. Hotel - Hotel consists of few blocks. As we booked the expensive economy room, we stayed the same block as the reception and restaurant. The hotel has a spacious outdoor space in front, and a very welcoming lobby. They do have restaurant in the hotel but the food price is very expensive. Staff - They know their things well. Once pass my booking slip then they handle everything nicely from there. Room - We booked the economy room with the timber finishes. Although it is warmer than the normal room, the timber room is at the highest floor at level 5 and there is no lift! Hence our legs suffer a lot climbing up the stairs. But the room is very clean, cozy and warm. TV has many channels too. The amazing thing is the hotel do provide us with their jacket! So we can wear it around! Room bathroom - Remember to bring your own cleaning stuffs (toothbrush and comb) as they would charge if you use theirs. They do provide soap and towels for free.
Good location, the rest is average”
Baiyun is a fine place to crash for a night, albeit for a price. Standard Chinese hotel without ambience or any love, food is alright but not good. Everything overpriced, though everything on the mountain is.
check out from xihai hotel, i going down to xihai grand canyon bottom (loop 1 & 2) and going up with grandcanyon cable car because i am to tired to continue walking with all my baggage. i drop my baggage in baiyun hotel then continue to go to the fairy walking bridge. if you are in great condition maybe you can do all xihai grandcanyon part before check in the hotel.
The hotel is further up the mountains than expected and it took about 2 hours for us to get there. We brought luggage (which you should not do as we learned) so we had to pay to have it hauled up to the hotel. The hotel, or the phase we were in was old as we expected, but served it's purpose. Our room was cute and fairly clean but a little small for us but not too cramped. Our time there could have been better, or it could have been worst, depending on how you look at it. Let me explain. We stayed there two nights and was looking forward to seeing as much of the mountains as we could but the clouds rolled in the first night and all you could see were the clouds the whole time. I could barely see the front of the hotel from only 20 (or less) meters away at one point. The cool thing was watching TV with the window open and having clouds go past the TV screen in front of you. My wife had her knee go out on the way up the mountain and we had to pay to have her carried down in the bamboo chair when we left plus the luggage as well. Very expensive for both so don't take luggage and make sure you are fit to make the long climb to the holel and back. I will return since I'm living in Shanghai on assignment but my 50+ year old wife says she is done with mountains :-) . What views we did get to see were awesome. These are really beautiful mountains for sure and if you want to enjoy the mountain experience I would spend one night on the mountains and I would stay in the Huangshan Baiyun Hotel again. If you want to have really good views of the mountains you probably need to get one of the more expensive rooms. Ours was probably mid range and the view of the mountains was limited. My guess is you would want to stay in bldg 2 which I think is the main building where you check in.
Beautiful location on the top of the mountain”
It was a very comfortable motel located closest to the Yuping cableway. However it is still a very long but extremely scenic walk to the motel. The review in the Lonely Planet was not that good so we were a little apprehensive. However we were pleasantly surprised with the facilities. It was clean and comfortable. It is excellently located to view sunrise and sunset and warm coats were provided. The restaurant was very nice although prices are a bit expensive. The coffee shop/bar was very cosy with friendly staff. There is free wifi in the lobby and we were lucky enough to also get it in our room. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would stay there again.
Who decided it was a 4 star ??”
The hotel was rated with a 4 stars, by a chinese comitee, but it really does not deserve it. I slept in dormitory, there was no enough charge plug for the 6 persons in the room, no private light, worse than a youth hostel. And the bathroom was dirty. We ate a the buffet, the walls are losing their paintings, food was too oily. Really, it does not deserve this price...
