Was quite disappointed with the hotel. While the location was good, the location wouldn’t be enough to pick it over the other hotels in the area. We didn’t know this at the time we booked it but now that we got to explore the mountain, my wife and I would likely pick the other hotels in the area. We checked the other spots and found their staff to be much more professional and much friendlier. The food served in Beihai is low quality and not as fresh as the other hotel next to it. We didn’t have much expectations regarding food since it was on a mountain but we ate one meal in their next hotel and we were amazed at the difference in quality (though prices were the same). Staff also seemed indifferent (or maybe inexperienced) and weren’t helpful. Our experience in the mountain was amazing but this hotel had no part in that excellent experience.
Good location ”
Perfect location as I walked up the East steps. Also close to see sunrise. 6 beds in the dorm in a tiny room but for the price it was great considering how much private rooms cost. Definitely not enough power points for 6 people. Was very clean and tidy. Usual very very thin mattress.
Good mountain location, that's about it.”
All mountain hotels at Mt Huangshan are expensive due to their locations, but not all are in good condition. This is one of them. This one is nothing more than 2 stars. It is clean and comfortable enough for a night's sleep though. The buffet meals prices are expensive too and the food is mediocre. It's a good thing that breakfast is included. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. One of the managers gave me good advice on hiking directions and time to go, based on weather forecast. Also, I didn't have electronic payment apps when using the vending machine and their staff helped me with this.
Expensive hotel which is nothing to shout about”
This hotel is very average and the food is bad but there's not much of a choice at the peak.
Location, location, location”
As everyone else has said, you're paying for the amazing location in the heart of the Yellow Mountain scenic area. The hotel is quite run-down, but we've stayed in worse. The food was fine for dinner, but we didn't enjoy breakfast very much. Well located for sunrise views a 15 minutes walk away.
A fantastic stay!”
We had an awesome stay at this hotel. We arrived late afternoon after walking through a thunderstorm. The staff upgraded our room, and gave us a breakfast coupon!! So lovely. The surroundings are amazing - we enjoyed sunset and then sunrise from spectacular viewpoints. The food (dinner and breakfast) was some of the nicest that we had during our stay in China. Room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including comfy slippers which allowed me to take my hiking shoes off! Loved this place!
Stayed one night on new year day. Of course price was super high. Shared bunk with another 5 pax. Facility was so so in the room. I prefer Shilin since the power plug is installed beside individual bunk with personal light. In Beihai, there is only common light and power plugs are in common place but of course there are enough for all 6 of us. Buffer dinner was slightly expensive compared to Shilin but there are more variety at Beihai. Overall, enjoyed my stay in Beihai.
I would stay here again. Breakfast was good and room was nice. Nothing amazing but did the job. The shower drain didn't work so well so the bathroom started to smell musty the second day. Other than that, no complaints. Make sure you know which cable car to take.
Not value for money. Horrible Place. Price is only based on its location.”
Not enough attention to maintaining the property and too pricey overall. Let down by no internet in the room. For what they charge, they don't provide basic toiletries. It was definitely overpriced for what you get
good price and location”
Six bed room with bathroom was clean and ok. Warm shower and hair dryer :) No towels. Cups, tea and hot water available on room. The bed was too hard for me -couldn't sleep. For one night it is ok and for a hotel on top of mountain you cannot expect too much. In the evening we wanted to sit in the lobby but there it is too cold. You can have dinner at the hotel a la carte or buffet (buffet costs 200 per person). Sunrise point around 30 minutes to walk. Lady on reception can help you which point is best to see the sunrise. Good hotel for one night. We wouldn 't stay longer.
Not worth the value”
We only stayed one night. It is not worth the value. No toiletries, not clean and reception was very poor. We checked out at 6am and no one was there except security who returned our deposit and accepted our room key.
Accommodation is not what I was expecting”
We were booked in a log cabin which is dilapidated, with hole on the door covered by a piece of paper. The bathroom is tacky. It has an accessible location from the major sights of the east side of Huangshan.
Good location on top of mountain”
The hotel is location in a very good location on the mountain. The food in the mountain in general is not as expensive or horrible as others said. To me, the food is actually nice and affordable, compared to some restaurant in Hangzhou. Although the hotel can improve by not letting so many people talking loudly around the vicinity of the hotel in the middle of the night, the rest is average.
best hotel in its location”
I stayed in a dormitory and it was clean and warm.Location is perfect, the staff is helpful.Dont listen to those who say its hard to find a room, no its quite easy. The prices of food are high but what to do... bring your own food. Its great that you have a choice in what kind of room to stay, either delux or shared.WIFI is good though doesnt work in the room.I think its the best place to spend a night taking into account its location
Booked a std room at the main building but was given a cabin away from the building which was small and musty. Finally moved to a std room in the main building after our complaint. The room was small with dirty and worn out carpet. Walls were dirty and the room has a very musty smell even with the window open. Avoid this hotel at all cost.
Well-located hotel with easy access to sightseeing”
We stayed at the chalets in the woods. Rooms were relatively new but small. We were quite glad to be away from the crowds in the main building as we have heard that it gets noisy in the early hours when people gather for sunrise watching. Food was reasonable as our guide got good discount for us. But most important of all, its central location to sightseeing places is the main attraction. Of course, you have to pay more for this!
Old but renovation is being carried out”
Breakfast was provided, which was a pleasant surprise. Staff were friendly. However, rooms and corridors lacked heating and will be cold during winter. Hairdryer showed signs of melted plastic due to usage from previous users. Comfortable stay, but at the price I would have considered Xihai nearby, which looks much newer and spacious.
this is the nearest hotel from yungu cable car.other than that nothing special. the floor not being clean while we check in,very disgusting because we booked non smoking but end up in smoking room with plenty of cigarettes left over the floor
This hotel urgently needs a big refurbishment. The staff is not helpfull nor friendly. There is practically no one that understands english. The rooms are small, most of them without any view but on walls. The hygiëne is terrible in the rooms : moisture and fungi. The building is in bad condition. Expensive for what you get, a coffee costs 48 Yuan, not even a cookie with it. Partially understandable because deliveries to this place are difficult, but nevertheless NOT GOOD. The only thing good is the fact that you are in the mountains nearby places where there are fantastic views (if the weather is good…..). Nothing western-like in the breakfast or in the restaurant.
Dirty beds, but the sunrise is worth it”
In these kind of dorms its apparently not common to change the sheets after one person's stay, but just after some time. You pay for the location, not the facilities. And that was worth the discomfort.
