brand new hotel off the old town”
i booked this hotel because i saw that its brand new and in thailand a brand new hotel means good quality and clean rooms even when its just a budget hotel. so i wasnt disapointed. nice lobby with nice staff that where able to speak some english which is not allways the case when you book a hotel a bit outside of the tourist area. my tip to you if you arrive by bus via arcadia bus station. rent a motorbike right there and drive on your own. more fun and your indipendent. back to the hotel.... i recommend this. new. clean.friendly staff.7/11 opposite hotel. loads of restaurants open at the nighlty market in front of the hotel. a clear...come back again!!!
Clean, basic, and great value”
at the foot of doi suthep and across from chiang mai university and the zoo, this clean and comfortable hotel is excellent value. the bathroom was chick, the air conditioning was very cold, and my room cost less than a typical dinner in new york city.
simple room with an awesome view”
simple and cheap. the best point about my stay was waking every morning to the scenic panoramic view of doi suthep. the peace and serenity of seeing the mountain every morning brings calmness and peace to anyone who seeks to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life. ironically, in the evening, the night market in front of the hotel comes to life. but instead of being a boon. it gives a healthy balance of both the hustle and bustle against the peace and serenity. another selling point is the good eateries located within walking distance from the hotel. also, the staff are very very friendly. i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in chiangmai
Clean, good place, but not accommodating staff.”
No problem with food and shopping as there are plenty right outside the hotel. I stayed on the second floor and it wasn't noisy at all as what others mentioned. Take note that there is a charge for early check-in, and the wifi expires after 24 hours which can only use one device. No available staff at the counter always.
Generous and clean room, well furnished”
stayed in malin residences for amost three weeks to attend a course at the chiang mai university. very convenient to the university and there are red cars passing outside if you want to go into the old city or anywhere. staff are friendly. there is also an amazing night market which sets up out the front everynight with clothes, food etc which is nice to wander through. my room was very quiet from outside noise, but be careful to get one not facing the street as a friend stayed in one of those and it was quite loud. also, the hallways echo badly, so when some loud people get home late at night i was woken a few times. all in all a lovely stay, and i would stay there again when in chiang mai. i never ate the breakfast however, and i believe it is per day which is a little excessive for the basic food i saw on offer.
Great location, great hotel, no elevators”
My stay was short, only 2 days. The hotel is situated in the middle of an outdoor night market/food pavilions. The problem was that there is no elevator, so if you stay higher than 2nd floor, it could be a little hassel.
Not the best option in Chaing Mai”
The staff here were friendly , but speak limited English. The rooms are very basic and they give you very basic things too. No fach wash cloth, just drying towels, a small bar of soap and a small pack of shampoo. Rooms are decent, but not so clean. A fellow traveller had bed bugs at the time of my stay. No electric key locks, just old fashion door key locks. However, I did not feel unsafe. The hotel is also a little far from what most people like to vist in Chaing Mai. If i returned, I probably would not pick this hotel.
Lovely hotel with great location and good service ”
we arrived late to check in at 9.00 pm and the counter staff was kind to process soonest. seeing the night market is just front of the door step, we wasted no time to explore by first filling our hungry stomach, just to the right (can be seen from our room) cons : the only short coming is there is no lift to the 4th floor. there are 2 universities nearby, so many students are staying around and have their meals here also. after taking our late meals, we went shopping at the open air night market which is not to be missed - souvenir, ladies' clothing and items, fruits, and i bought a silk shirt here. there are many food stalls nearby and 7 eleven.
Great location ”
It is a new apartment and near to the Zoo and Doi Suthep; arouund the area there are plenty of shops and restaurant. it is also near to Nimman area for night life. The room is clean and fitted with LCD TV, fridge and air-con. It was value for money for the kind of price that I paid. To find it, just take a tuk tuk and alight at Chiang Mai University; cross the road, locate the 4-Faced Buddha and walk in 50m.
Cheap and cheerful”
If you want a place that's value for money away from the more touristy areas of CM then this is ideal. You can walk into town, get a songtaew or rent a scooter.
My usually place to stay in Chiangmai! ”
Closed to Chiangmai Univ. and easy to go to Nimmanhemin Road.
i like pop music but this hotel is very nice for pop music how come the hotel is very nice and slow. i want to come back again and need more information you can contact me.
Towels and a bedsheet has small and numerous stains. Would be better if room has a thermal flask to contain hot water. Hotel lacked a lift to make carrying luggage to and from rooms much easier and less of a chore.
Blacklisted for me”
After checking out, I was asked to leave the luggage at another opened building and got it back when I finished my business...unattended (I'd feel a lot better if they simply said there was no luggage service.) Because of location and cleanliness, this hotel is perfect if you only need a place to rest and shower...without any contact with the receptionists...because for me they are far from "friendly"
Just don't do it. ”
Worst Agoda booking to date, definitely not worth the price. Extended stay one night during check in. Cancelled the extension. I could barely stand the first night. Got the heck out of there ASAP. The room smelled BAD. Sewers and drains. Or like a mouse died in the wall somewhere. Very noisy, it's right next to the night market, but that's what you get for the closeness to the attractions I suppose. Expect to hear loud music and smell cooking food (combined with the room stink) at least till 12 am. Wifi only free the first night, but that doesn't matter, because it DOES NOT WORK! Not at all! The bed is concrete hard, sheets are inadequate and uncomfortable. And I think they were not changed. No one at the front desk understood even minimal basic English; but tried to be helpful, if you really REALLY pushed. They refused to print my bus ticket. I had to try to wake up the night staff at the front desk, asleep with pillows. What the heck is the point of having a 24 hour desk??! I've stayed in hostels cheaper, way more comfortable, accommodating, and helpful than this place. I do not understand how this managed to get a 7. It makes me worry about Agoda's ratings. Do yourself a favour, do not stay here. It's not worth the stress.
Good. Staff on night shift do not know much about the hotel's procedures. I booked additional days in the hotel on separate bookings and was told that I needed to check out to check in again on the same day when I didn't have to. He didn't tell me about having free Wi-Fi for booking through agoda
Budget Guesthouse near to shopping and restaurants”
It is a simple guesthouse for budget travellers. The room is functional with airconditioning and a big TV. Beds are very hard. Clean is just average and could be improoved. Staff is friendly with very limited english.
Very clean, Very New”
Malin Resident was a very nice hotel, very different atmosphere than a guesthouse or hostel. The Malin seemed very new, and everything was spotlessly clean. It was a little outside the city centre but was still close enough to walk into the city in about 30 minutes. The best part of the hotel was that there was an amazing night market outside each night with cuisine from all over the world, a great vibe!
Well priced, nice and clean rooms”
no complaints about the hotel at all, well priced and good value. we thought it was a little out of the way but that being said there is a lot of markets and restaurants at your front door, and a tuk tuk to the main city / bars is easy and cheap (decent walk but).
Nice place to stay...”
the hotel was nice, although it felt like a lot of people live there in stead of use it as hotel. the rooms were clean, big and everything was working. negative point was that when we came back one day the cleaners didn't close the door which meant our stuff was all in the open, nothing got stolen but still...
