We heard lots of stories of disappointment of other boat operators in Halong Bay and we wanted to finish our 4 week holiday with something special - and Imperial Legend Cruise did not disappoint. From the moment we booked, every point of contact with staff was efficient, helpful and friendly. Arriving on the boat confirmed we were in for a memorable few days. Our cabin was beautifully presented, clean and spacious. The meals on board were of exceptional quality and the crew were lovely. The two days cruise took us out further into the bay where the water quality is better, the scenery is magnificent and you escape the presence of 100 other boats & tourists. The activities/on-shore trips were well planned, just the right amount of time at each place and well worth doing. This company seems to put a lot of effort into training their staff and have a good corporate culture and it is reflected in the cruise. I highly recommend this cruise to anyone who wants the best possible experience of Halong Bay. Thank you so much for staff and this company. Incredible scenery and Enjoyable stay ! ”
I booked Imperial in hopes of getting the free upgrade after reading the reviews. Yeah I did ! Felt like I've won a lottery (Imperial to Silversea) Thank you! Our guide Tony came to pick us up from the hotel, gave us a brief insight of the itinerary, and background information of Halong Bay~ We headed there in a 4 hr coach journey, with a pitstop at a souvenir shop (washroom/snacks/souvenirs). Arrived at the port, and checked into our cruise smoothly and was ushered to our rooms. All the facilities are clean, in working condition, aircon was the BEST! Wifi was available at certain area of the cruise. Went to an island, for beach activities and hiking to the top view. The view is phenomenal, will recommend travellers to press on , to catch a glimpse of halong bay with all the tiny islands and cruise. Beautiful sight, a little crowded though. Lunch/Dinner was a 5-course meal, a little insufficient for a glutton like myself. Day2, we opt for a stay in the bungalow. Breakfast was buffet, yeah! Visited the surprising cave, crowded but a wonderful guided experience. Pity that there's no kayaking available any longer due to the current law regulations. Was ushered to another boat to take us to the Catba island bungalow. Visited the Catba town (Cannon Fort). The facilities in the bungalow can be improved a little, overall was a pleasant stay. Food was great as well. Got transferred back to Silversea Cruise in Day 3, learned to make Vietnamese springrolls, simple learning experience :) had buffet for lunch! Food was awesome! About the drinks, Yes they are a little pricey, but given their outstanding service and sincerity and buffet-style meal, luxurious course meal, BEST aircon, friendliest tour guide. The drinks are considered very affordable in my opinion. Once again, thank you Tony and all the awesome crew members for making our trip so memorable.

Royal Palace Cruise not Imperial Legend”
After booking using Agoda.com, I sent the cruise staff all the information they asked for by email. I received a confirmation from them and one day before the cruise I received another email from them. The morning of the cruise we were picked up from our hotel for the 4 hour bus ride. At the rest stop our guide told us that we were upgraded to a better cruise. It was supposed to be Imperial Legend, now it will be Royal Palace Cruise. We were not disappointed. The boat was clean and in good condition. Our room is a good size with 3 small beds for the three of us. The bathroom was very clean like new. The shower was roomy. The only problem was the sink. If you don't open the faucet all the way the water will fall on the side of the sink. The six course lunch and dinner was excellent. The breakfast and the brunch were buffet. There was a lot of activities. You have to bring your own water. They will provide you with one bottle of water each inside the bus and one bottle each in your room. The rest of the drinks need to be purchased. For breakfast and brunch there is free coffee and juice. If you only have one day to see Halong Bay, that is enough. Once you see the islands, there is nothing else to see. They are all the same. But with 4 hours bus ride to and from Halong Bay, an overnight stay is better.

Absolutely marvelous!”
We did a 2D1N cruise and it was wonderful. I can't speak for the Imperial Legend boat itself, since we were upgraded to a Silversea 4-star cruise (seeing other reviews, I'm assuming they do this all the time to fill up the boats), but the service we got was impeccable. Our guide Than was friendly and knowledgeable and always smiling. We really enjoyed having him as our guide. On the cruise (ship? boat?) itself, nobody booked the top deck room (as it costs more) so we won the lottery to stay in that room which was awesome. The view from the room was spectacular, and there was a whole area that while not closed off to the rest of the guests, nobody else ever went since it was behind our room. It was like having a huge private balcony to ourselves :) Halong Bay is absolutely beautiful and everyone should go. Kayaking and swimming was really fun (watch out for the giant jellyfish!). The first lunch we had was really amazing food with amazing fine-dining style plating and flavors. Dinner was good too (family style shared by tables of 4), breakfast was not bad, the following lunch was "okay." But to be honest, going into the experience, I was expecting all of our meals to be like the last lunch (generic buffet style). So the food still exceeded my expectations. I do think that 2D1N is the perfect amount of time, it seems that the 3N2D trip might get repetitive (but I wouldn't actually know I guess!). The rest stop both ways is a giant tourist trap where they make you stay for 30 minutes hoping you'll cave and buy stuff. But it was fine to stretch your legs a bit.

Imperial Legend Cruise ”
I was mistakenly booked a room for only person but after contacted the cruise the problem was solved and we even got a very good deal for I and my boyfriend. We booked a Imperial Legend Cruise with 2 days 1 night intermarry and WOW everything went out perfectly from the weather, people, service and cruise quality. The Imperial Legend cruise overall and my room were really tidy and comfy. The itinerary was really thoughtful plus having a good tour guide we did not miss any good knowledge about Halong the cave. We enjoyed really much the food and the cooking class. Definitely we would love to rate this cruise for their 5 stars standard 10 out 10 and recommend it to any other traveler as especially couple – like us.

highlight of our trip in Vietnam”
We stayed with the Imperial Legend Cruise for two days and one night. The trip was excellent and well planned out, and we enjoyed the right balance of beautiful cruising and day activities like kayaking and caving. It was a relaxing experience while still keeping to an interesting schedule. The rooms were as nice as a high end hotel and the food was delicious. I do not believe it would be possible to find a more friendly crew and tour guide, they made this boat trip in Halong Bay the highlight of our trip in Vietnam. Thank for everything !!! will come back with some friends .

We couldn't comment about imperial legend as we got a FREE UPGRADE to Silversea cruise which was amazing and make us felt like won a lottery, haha. Our tour guide Hai, ( was funny, knowledgeable and friendly) has gave us some information about Hanoi city and halong bay, especially the "tips" of crossing the road in Hanoi. Food was awesome. They served luxurious course meal. Room was clean with ensuite bathroom. All the crew members were super friendly and funny too. Thanks to Hai and all the awesome crew members for the exceptional services.

Enjoy the cruise!”
Due to different tourists choose different itinerary, we need to transfer to different boat and cruise, and tour guide changed. It is a bit confusing, but the agency take care of everyone. We chose 1 day on cruise and 1 day at banglow, cat ba island because it is cheaper than 2D on cruise. Food at Cat ba island is much more simpler, room also spacious but simpler. Not sure why We are the only Asian tourist on this island. The cruise is not very luxury type, but it is really not bad! Most important it is clean n comfortable, those who on budget can consider it. The double bed is big, bathroom is small but i enjoy taking bath and viewing the scenry. 1st day tour guide Lily, looks serious but she is very responsible, gives us a lot of information. We had great time swimming in halong bay, watching the scenery, enjoy the food... the food are more to chinese style, each meal consists of 6-7 dishes.

Highly Recommended”
We're group of 3 women in triple room. Our tour guide, Mr.Lucky brings us lukcy. We got free upgrade to silversea cruise (4star) with better facilities from Imperial (3star), excellent services from all the crews, great view, best food & well organized events. Only bad for free wifi but i think it's the same for all cruises coz of the cave around halong bay. So, overall, this 2days 1 night experience is really amazing value for money. An enjoyable trip, great company ”
After reading so many reviews, I booked Imperial in hopes of getting the free upgrade. And yeah...thanks our tour guide Mr. Vinh, he offered FREE UPGRADE to Silversea cruise which was fantastic! He came to pick us up from the hotel, gave us a brief insight of the itinerary, and history of Halong Bay. He also arranged my family to a more comfortable mini bus for getting back to Hanoi. Food was nice and tasty. Room was clean with awesome view. All the crew members were friendly and helpful too. Thank agian to Mr.Vinh and all the awesome crew members.

Better without karaoke”
I just wanted an inexpensive and easy way to see Ha Long Bay, and Imperial Legend delivered. I only have two complaints. The first regards the cruise line pushing the sale of cocktails and trying to get passengers engaged in doing karaoke (I assume to enhance the sale of alcohol). The passengers were couples, half of whom were in their mid-thirties and and the other half much older. It was not a group of young single backpackers looking for drunken fun. Know your customers. If you want to sell alcohol to this group, try playing music other than loud, outdated disco during happy hour and provide a comfortable setting for after dinner drinks rather than attempting a karaoke fest. The second complaint is the food. While it was palatable and there was plenty of it, it was sort of odd. Instead of Vietnamese food, some westernized version of Chinese food was served--the kind of Chinese food you got in America forty years ago. But these were just minor irritants. In the end, I got to see Ha Long Bay in relative comfort. My cabin was nice and clean and cozy.

We really enjoyed this cruise! Please note we got upgraded to the ‘silverseas’ so this is a review for that! The boat was beautiful, the food was amazing, the staff were great and the view was incredible. However, I feel like the places you go on the boat (kayaking, caving, swimming) are the same as every other boat in HaLong Bay- which there is a lot! The activities were not amazing, and the crowds are huge. There is a lot of waiting around between getting on the bus, waiting at the boat terminal, and then getting on the boat! It feels like you don’t really spend much time on the actual boat. However, it seems like this is the case for every cruise company in HaLong Bay.. therefore, I would recommend this company and this cruise. Our guide ‘Duy’ was exceptional.. very engaging and knowledgeable!

It's a awesome experience to Halong Bay by cruise. I was a solo traveler on Apr 1, 2017. I was lucky and fortunately upgraded to Silver Sea Cruise. The staff are friendly. They speak English fluently. The environment and facilities are good. The good was well presented and tasty. There was a cooking class to teach you how to make a Vietnamese spring roll. The guide Mr. Max (hope I didn't spell it wrong) was very good. As I was the only solo traveler on the cruise, he took care of me. When I got off from the bus at the end of the trip, I gave him little money as the token of appreciation. Thanks so much to Mr. Max and the staff of the cruise. Highly recommended this cruise.

Nice boat, woeful organisation”
I was lucky I was on a boat called "Silversea Cruise". It was nicer than the other boat called "Imperial Cruise Legend". No complaints about the boat. The food was pretty good & the scenery was nice. The weather was horrible, but can't help that. But the organisation of the trip was TERRIBLE!! Biggest complaint was never being told anything. or being told something & it changed 5 min later. One example was the boat had people on both 1 & 2 night trips. The people on the 1 night trip were not told until 9.20am that they would have to be checked out & ready to leave the boat to be transferred onto another boat to take them away by 10am. We had just returned from a pearl farm trip in the cold (5 degrees)& rain! People wanted showers & change of clothes to warm up. 1 lady had a group of 7 people including her elderly parents & young children & had 30 mins to get everyone packed & ready to leave. I was told that for my 2nd night, within the space of half an hour, that I would be: (a)going to a bungalow on land (b)being moved to another boat (c)staying on the same boat. People who went to the bungalows hated it with NOTHING to do. They got charged 300,000 Dong for a heater! We had lunch there & then got left there for 4 hrs. They said "when you come here in the summer you can go swimming, kayaking & hiking." Yes, but it was 5 degrees & raining! They need flexibility with their program of activities when it's not summer. I felt sorry for the couple who booked a different trip to Bai Tu Long Bay & just got put on our trip. Every attempt to fix the problem was met with excuses from "I'm just new here" to "the company did not tell us" Recommendations: 1 - Don't stay at the bungalows - especially if not Summer 2 - A 1 night cruise is probably enough. The extra day is wasted when you do 2 nights in winter 3 - Have no expectations; expect to be told nothing; & expect to be herded around like a sheep with a constantly changing agenda & you'll be ok

Need to stay 2 nights on boat”
Genuine Halong bay cruising experience. A smaller vessel with all the right ingredients, gives you the chance to get in and around where the big boats can't go. Friendly staff that are more than helpful, excellent variety in food and drink, with great tour options. 2 day boat stay highly recommended to get the real feel and to enjoy the bay without rushing. Highly recommended and thoroughly enjoyable.

Change to Royal Palace Cruise - upgrade or downgr?”
Advise to bring your own mineral water, else have to pay. But they provide sufficient juice/coffee for lunch/dinner. 4-hr Journey from Old Quarter to Halong Bay is not so comfortable. Kayaking, Cave visit, Karaoke, Sotong fishing, TaiChi, fruit/veg design cutting lesson. Ship is very stable, so no sea-sick.
