Intercontinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco Hotel was a nice place. Located on the top of Nob Hill it was within walking distance of most of the places we visited. Make you pack some comfortable walking shoes. A cable car crosses right in front of the hotel. The band playing in The Top Of The Mark was awsome and had a great atmosphere. Awesome views on higher floors, traditional old world charm, great location

Stayed for two nights. Old world traditionally styled hotel with awesome views of San Francisco in higher floors. Also good 24 hours business center which I used during the trip. Rooms are adequately sized, not as small as some people suggest. Nob Hill excellent location as right across from Fairmont and wealthy neighborhood. Hotel service is good, not extraordinary. Got great deal on room rate so if you can get this hotel for under, think good deal due to location.

Too Bad About All The Tourists”

It's a great location, with amazing views of the city. The hotel its self is charming in how old it is. I enjoy historic hotels. The one drawback is all the tourists who clog up the tiny elevators, trying to get to Top of the Mark. Re: Top of the Mark, you, along with any yahoo off the street, are waiting for a table in a small area. Once inside, you are seating next to people acting like this is Senior Frogs on Spring Break. The menu is also indicative of a tourist location. Honestly, it's too bad they have catered to tourists, rather than an upscale experience. So much potential, and San Francisco certainly has the type of clientele who could visit an upscale bar in an otherwise upscale hotel.

Staying at the Mark-Hopkins, SF”

Location is excellent; service is friendly and courteous; Agoda price was good
Nothing in particular

The Inter-Continental Mark Hopkins is atop Nob Hill, alongside the Fairmont, the Huntington, and Grace Cathedral -- the best location in SF. The rooms are reasonably sized and well furnished. The service is courteous and friendly. The bar on the top floor has a stunning view. At half-price, I considered the room a very good value, and was happy to stay there for five days. You do have to take a taxi or cable car to get back up to the top of Nob Hill each time, unless you are very young and fit. That's the only drawback, not of the hotel but of the location. But it's well worth it, in my opinion.

Very disapponted at this Intercontinental”

Room clean but small Staff very cooperative and efficient
Wifi Internet NOT free Parking incredibly expensive Phone calls to 1-800 numbers charged Bed too soft

This Intercontinental was really disappointing. I got a "base" fare apparently very inexpensive, then bad surprises materialized. Parking fee was $ 57 per night, Internet was not free and charged at $ 18 per night at a speed incredibly low, calls at 1-800, that are free all over the Country, were chargeg at $ 1.75 each. I recommend travelers to stay in the Fisherman Wharf area, where parking and other fees are much more moderate. Never again at the Intercontinental in San Francisco

Not up to Intercontinental Standard”

Good price

It is an old hotel, when we made the booking we thought Intercontinental Hotel is a safe choice. However, upon arrival we realised the hotel is pretty old, the room is very dated. Service is so-so. The Top of Marks restaurant is well known of its view but the food was just so-so, we had breakfast there costing over USD30 per head but very limited choice of buffet but yet the view is very amazing indeed. There are many other better option than this, its price reflects the standard of the hotel but it was out of our expectation on a Intercontinental, so we were a little bit disappointed.

Excellent service, wonderful staff, excellent rooms and facilities
noise

Both my son and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and we both enjoyed our stay there with the only down side being the noise (we were on the 4th floor) from the cable car going up and down california street. Overall the service and the facilities at the hotel were excellent. The staff were friendly and very professional. . Although the "Top of the Mark" restaurant was a bit expensive the view from it was wonderful. The rooms were great. The hotel sits right on top of Nob Hill and, although the views are excellent the climb from either side is not for the faint hearted.Would stay there again

terrific location, local color, above traffic”

views, restaurant, location

took one hour to check in---all about security--i didn't have the right documents--the desk clerks and managers were adamant, though apologized for the inconvenience. made zero sense. started out awful, especially with the sign behind the counter: "best hotel" award. i was asked to sign 4 pages of no smoking rules and then they gave me a room on the 5th floor that was unacceptable--the smell of stale smoke was toxic. they did move me to a clean room on the 8th floor after that.i am not usually a difficult guest, but this was supposed to be such a posh place, evidenced by the 6.50$ price on the bottle of water in the room.. the room was comfortable, the location, especially being above the traffic and the crowds, was very inviting. the fitness room , though small, was adequate, and the park across the street was welcoming and full of local color: the tai chi ladies early in the morning, the dog walkers, the kids playing in the sand...and the restaurant, top of the mark, was fantastic. expensive 75$ brunch on sunday, but when you make a morning of it, it is very pleasant

Pricey, but very nice hotel”

large room, view, top of the mark restaurant

hotel was a little dated, but alluded to a more glamorous past. bathroom and tv were updated. didn't get a chance to try out the wifi. location is central to many tourist areas, but a little far to walk considering the massive hill you have to walk up coming from union square, financial district, embarcadero, the wharf, and china town. there's a trolley nearby, and always cabs. staff was courteous and professional, but not overflowing warmth. view from my room, 519, was ugly rooftop if you looked down, but still a nice partial view of the bay otherwise. room was big and bed was extremely comfortable. decor was a little dated, but not distractingly so. these are things i would've easily overlooked if the price was a little lower. i thought it was a bit pricey, and would probably opt for a little less expense in a higher traffic area next time. however, the location did make it quiet, for the traveler looking to relax. overall, it was pricey, but not outrageous due to the deal i got on agoda ... reg $, paid $ + tax.

position, cleanliness

The hotel was in a great location and we found it was close to everywhere. The hotel itself was lovely and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We bought a 3 day cable car pass and caught it up the hill every time. It was very convenient. The shops were very close and it was only about a 5 - 10 min walk down the hill. There are plenty of little cafes or restaurants to have breakfast, lunch and dinner around. The hotel's buffet breakfast is also great. Having a drink up the top of hotel is a must. We also had a meal and were very pleased. All in all, we had a lovely trip and enjoyed out stay very much.
