A steal for the price”
You get a really good deal with this one. The space is right smack in the heart of Brooklyn. The bed was comfortable. You get what you pay for. Its especially great for people on a budget. Totally happy with my experience here. Will stay here again if I'm in Brooklyn.
ACCESSIBLE TO SUBWAY, GREAT MIX OF CULTURE, FRIENDLY STAFF”
Easy to find. Was my 1st time in NYC & as long as you know to take the J or M train to Marcy, you will find it easily. The neighborhood doesn't seem so great but it is very safe. I'd come home at 2-4am daily & it was safe. There is no curfew so have your nights out then go home to sleep. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful & pleasant to deal with & our rooms were kept clean. The bathrooms, which I am most pedantic about because they are shared by a whole floor were also very clean, the exception being when people don't clean up after themselves but that has nothing to do with the hostel. They clean up good. The rooms can prove tiny for 2 people with big bags (I was in a single bunk bed room) but you & your roommate can work it out. The chill out zone looked really cool but I was always out so never got to fully utilize it. I may've chilled for 10 minutes trying to sort out my über and thanks to their free wifi, I got so much done & was able to be in touch with my family & friends. I really enjoyed my stay here
Worth for the money, location and quietness not so much”
With the money spent, it is in general a good choice for your stay in NYC. Brooklyn is close to Manhattan, but have to check out for train lines if going back to hostel at night, it takes longer than expected to switch lines. Rooms and restrooms are clean, however walls are thin, it is difficult to sleep with people walking around or whispering in their rooms. Some rooms are very close to the train, making it very hard to sleep even with earplugs.
That was one of those experiences when you don't wanna leave . That was the situation with this Hotel and Hostel. I didn't aspect to much but got a lot. Very clean , great location next to subway ,and you making a one stop to Manhattan. The area name is Williamsburg , visit a Bedford avenue couple blocks from the hostel with a lot of beautiful restaurants and bars. This hotel have a great stuff and administration , very helpful with my needs and requests I had. Also they gave me an upgrade for my first stay . Beautiful lounge area with full kitchen , game and computer room, small library , dining area was great .
Okay if you’re sole purpose is just to sleep and wash”
Pros: Comfortable bed Large common area with kitchen and fridge Very close to subway/train Free luggage storage until 10pm after check out Provided towel and linens/beddings Free earplugs Cons: Loud noise from train/subway Rooms are not solid rooms but rather just partitions so you can hear everyone on the whole floor Only one shower room and toilets for the whole floor (3 cubicles each) but at least separate for males and females NO LIFT! Good luck carrying stuff upstairs the place is a bit dodgy/shady area of NY, I’d be wary to walk along that street during late hours on my own unlike other uptown parts Very Chaotic and not well-equipped kitchen $50 deposit fee upon check in To access the common area/kitchen, you need to get out of bldg. although it is just right next door Very missable hostel! I missed it and couldn’t find it at first, people had to direct me just to find the hostel Staff on the reception desk made me feel they don’t care/very apathetic
Good for travelers that are extremely tight on budget”
This is a good choice when you're extremely tight on budget, but don't expect much for such a low price. The location is good (next to the metro station). The rooms are modern and clean. From the other side, it's quite noisy there (trains passing by 24/7 + chatters in the room), so consider using headphones if you want to have a good sleep. The showers are combined with toilets in the same room (so prepare to listen to "interesting" sounds when you're taking a shower), and there's no place to put your dry clothes (just drop them on the floor). The staff is polite and friendly.
VALUE FOR MONEY”
great location, facilities and def a bargain for NYC prices..great kitchen and lounge space..staff could be a bit more on the ball at front desk was my only gripe but besides that it was def a great find for me..oh and u may need earplugs as other guests can forget about the space and make some noise while trying to sleep..
The train(24hrs open NYC Metro) was passing by every 3-10mins, the sounds can literally wake you up”
1. The room: thin wood board separated room without own ceilings, so you can hear what just happen from any other rooms nearby - even the guy scrating his leg, the guy walk by to the toilet. But the most important thing is, the sky- railway just 3 meter away from the building and the 24 hours open NYC metro train was passing by every 3-10 mins, and the sounds can literally wake you up. 2. Location: near the metro(Marcy Ave) and Williamsburg bridge(Brooklyn side), nice foods around in 1 km. 3. The toilet and shower room was clean.
First time but not last time.”
First time to get a dormitory-style accommodation and it was a great experience as place is small but cozy. Budget-friendly accommodation near a Metro station. Meet new acquaintances from other hemisphere. Hope staff would be more approachable, but in general I was a satisfied guest.
Worth the money”
Great location: Close to subway Station. Cheap grocery around. Spacious living room and kitchen. Good house keeping. Free luggage storage during stay. Strong WiFi. . Negative : Wall not up to ceiling. Noise from subway train and snoring can be heard. But earplud solve the problem. Get one from reception. Bed spring is not good. Can feel back pain. Shower and toilet is a bit nudy. Not 100% transparent but still can see something.
My second time staying here. Be aware that it can be rather noisy as the walls do not meet the roof and you may get a room right on the train line (nothing ear plugs can't solve). Location is amazing, great spot in BK with perfect access to lower Manhattan also. My only constructive criticism is that the front desk staff could at least pretend to look like they care about their job.
Great stay! ”
Close to the subway station, super clean room, I even got upgraded to a two-bedroom without requesting it :D close to shops and so fun to walk around Williamsburg. I was traveling alone and felt self walk around at night, just 4 stops to get to Manhattan. I will definitely be staying there again when visiting NYC.
Check-in was very easy, stuff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean , lounge are was my favorite place to relax and enjoy the Netflix movies . Gonna come back.
Perfectly adequate, BUT....”
There aren’t any ceilings. There’s this huge kitchen, and playroom. You can watch TV, play on computers, whatever you want. They even have a little stand where you purchase drinks, but when you get up to the room, IT COULD BE QUITE BEAUTIFUL, and so perfectly sufficient, except that the walls don’t go all the way up, so there’s this big open gap, and I had to hear EVERYTHING, and I do mean EVERYTHING that went on in everyone else’s room. So that was quite an unfortunate experience, quite unfortunate, indeed.
Pros: cleanness, rooms(2people per room); kitchen along with tv table pool and baby football game table. Cons: arrived at 8am, had to wait until 3pm to check in; must give a deposit corresponding to the nightly charge. The location is great: Metro station: Hewes
The property is just few minutes walk from the nearest metro station - Marcy Ave. The lobby, corridor, and individual room are clean. It's just maybe they have to check the cleanliness of the bathroom more often since not all guest have same level of cleanliness when using the shared bathroom. The property doesn't have an elevator so if you're travelling with a huge luggage then you might ask the staff to help you carry your stuffs going up to your assigned room. The don't provide free breakfast however they have a kitchen/dining area where guests can freely stay and use the facilities.
Good but one thing to notice”
It's clean and near metro station. The kitchen area is next door and has a piano there. You need to deposit your passport to borrow a hair dryer. The only thing to notice is that there is no ceiling in a single room and all the rooms are connected so that you can hear clearly what your neighbours are talking and it's disturbing if someone snore loudly at night.
Even though I could not make it over the fourth for my rooms, I stayed home but I have been there before
Convenient but loud”
The place has full kitchen equipment and close to market. It's loud in the room, everyone shot the door hardly, people who lived there didn't respect others.
Stayed here 1 night”
Right next to an elevated rapid transit line (popularly called subway, since it goes underground in Manhattan), so it was noisy -- 1.5 blocks E of Marcy Ave station on J line. Room was smaller than a jail cell. No elevator, 3 storeys. Nice lounge area next door. Altho checkout is 11am, luggage may be stored at the office till that evening, very useful for travelers with late afternoon or evening flights.
