Very nice hotel in Thakhek - comfortable, quiet, clean and good facilities (great bathroom!) Also free water was a nice touch.

We used Thakhek as a base to do some trekkings and sightseeing around the province. The location of Inthira Thakhek is very good since we booked the tours with Green Discovery Laos, which in fact is at Inthira. The price was not bad, but I found it a little bit expensive for asian standards. The air conditioner of my room was making the power go down so they changed us for another room. The breakfast is not buffet and there aren't much options. We dinne at the Hotel for 2 consecutive nights. It has a nice restaurant.
Best place to stay at in Thakhek”
Staff were accommodative and there was a great restaurant on the ground floor. Green Discovery Laos is located within the hotel premises so it's a good place for travelers who need to find a reliable travel agency. Inthira Thakhek accepts payment Thai Baht, USD and Laos Kip. Would strongly recommend that travelers (to Laos) check with the hotels directly to confirm the room availability before check in date.
Second time visit”
Great! This was my second visit to Inthira Thakhek and I hope to visit again one day. Was offered an upgrade (regret that I didn't take it) but stuck to a room with balcony. Noisier that I remembered but town is getting busier. Ask for room in back if you are a light sleeper. I enjoy the homey feel this hotel offers!
Good accommodation - value for money”
we checked in really late (1.30am) after our bus arrived in thakhek... we prewarned inthira by phone and email of this and our key was waiting for us when we woke the little night man sleeping in amongst the mopeds. thankfully we cranked the ac and settled in for the night. the following morning we discovered we'd left our mobile phone on the bus and the manager rang both the vip office and the bus driver to see if returned - sadly not but appreciated him making the call. food in restaurant in inthira was good, kitchen tidy and all in all no complaints with the food. the fans and ac were great. linen good quality. as previously mentioned the wc and showers in each corner a little weird but great shower pressure. room 12 was extremely noisy from street noise due to poor windows/doors but we were prepared to put up with it for the 3 nights. wifi was reliable. very, very little english spoken by staff and when we asked in several different ways about claiming the "cocktail on arrival" the following lunch time as part of our booking .. the staff stared blankly, 2 of them talked amongst themselves and on 2 occassions and both times walked away. we simply ordered a lao beer and suggest not offering cocktails if can't be redeemed - we'd noted that this was mentioned in a previous review. disappointed by a particular staff member that worked for green discovery but was redeemed by another really helpful staff member the following day who also worked for green discovery who spoke great english and you could tell he comprehended what was being asked for and conversed. he was the one not wearing glasses. we were left a little to our own devices, our room wasn't serviced, towels replaced, toilet paper provided - although the complementry water given one day - we did ask for a toilet roll once ran out and this did not change our overall experience. all in all inthira seemed to be the nicest hotel in thakhek
Thakhek is not the most bustling town, but I found sitting outside In this and watching life in the town move by very satisfying! Comfortable beds, good food, and friendly staff! Really would not have stayed anywhere else. They even helped transport something I left behind up to Vientiane, where I live. Also really enjoyed the tour from Green Discovery to Konglor Cave. If I return to Thakhek, I would happily stay with Intuit again!
Great rest stop”
Stayed 1 night in Inthira Thakhek after travelling in Laos for more than 7 days. Perfect rest stop I'd say - so value for money. Rooms are clean, Location is great.
Friendly people, lovely building”
We were in a standard room which is small but has everything you need. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast is good. We'll stay there for 2 nights when we return from the Thakhek loop as both the guesthouse and Thakhek are lovely places to hang out for a while.
Some faults but a good hotel”
We stayed 1 night at Inthira Thakhek. It is very well positioned however that is not difficult given the size of the town. Our room was very nice. In good condition and well appointed. You do however get a lot of noise from the street as tuktuks and young guys on motorbikes enjoyed riding up and down, what seems to be, the main road through town until after midnight. Speaking to other guests this also bothered them and we witnessed this going on for the next two nights that we were in town (at another hotel). The restaurant is very pleasant to sit in. The food however isn`t fantastic so I`d recommend it as a place to sit and enjoy a drink or two. The only real let down was a misunderstanding with our booking. We had initially booked 1 night however upon arrival decided to do a whole day tour the following day (organised with a company operating in the hotel). Before confirming the tour I checked that we could stay another night as the tour was due back at 9PM. I was told that it was fine and to pay the next day. We came down at 7AM the following morning and asked to pay only to be told there were no rooms available. Inconvenient to say the least. We packed very quickly and asked that they contact another hotel for us. In the end we were very happy with the alternate hotel and I was not going to mention this. However, upon return to the hotel at 930PM the other couple that had joined the tour were also told that there was no room for them, and their belongings (including valuables from their safety box) had been removed from their room. They were understandably upset by this and eventually (after several complaints) were found a room at Inthira. A very strange set of events that should have been handled better.
Love this place!”
Highly recommended place to stay in Thakhek. We spent a night before starting the Thakhek Loop on our bikes. The staff are lovely, the room comfortable and clean, and the the location is excellent. Great breakfast too!
A little gem, perfect treat for after the Thakhek loop”
Spotless clean twin room, really good hot shower, and beds and pillow are comfy. Electric socket beside bed is really well positioned. It was the perfect treat after 3 days on the Thakhek loop. Make sure to book on Agoda, the price for walk in is much higher ($25 approx)
Nice, clean room in a good location”
The hotel is located centrally and is in a good position for those staying in Thakhek before/after doing the Thakhek Loop as it is over the road from Wang Wang's and Mad Monkeys. The staff are ok. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was basic but nice.
Ideally situated and well decorated with clean roo”
Perfect place to stay in Thakhek with clean and comfortable rooms. After a late evening arrival from Vientiane we were looking forward to a shower and a rest but unfortunately the air-con in the room was faulty so they upgraded us at no extra charge. The hotel looks as if it's been newly refurbished and the layout is really nice, particularly the open-plan downstairs area. Thakhek is a nice town and his hotel is perfect and good value for money.
Staff was welcoming and friendly, most of the team is young and speaks basic English only but everyone was eager to help. The standard rooms are on the ground floor behind the reception area. These are de facto indoor rooms (with windows to either a back wall or a small hallway) and therefore a bit dark and at times stuffy. Rooms are still nice and clean and air circulates well with the fan on. Comfortable bed. For two people with lots of luggage the room may be a bit small, for myself it was fine. Wifi worked all the time, mostly well, a bit slow in the evenings. Undoubtly pricey for SE Asian standards in terms of what you get for your money but options in Thakhek are very limited. It is still one of the best options around. The food at the restaurant is good, you are looking tourist prices. The complementary breakfast has limited choices, especially for non-meat eaters.
Great, stylish, modern-traditional hotel”
We very much enjoyed this hotel in the center of Thakhek. It is located in a traditional house, the old style is still visible, but lovely renovated. Breakfast was sensational with a great choice of dishes. We would definitiely return to this hotel in the future.
Simply a great hotel”
originally booked for one night but liked it so much we stayed for two. need i say more? ok rooms were beautifully designed and decorated, scrupulously clean. food in the restaurant was well prepared and served by very friendly staff. if in thakhek stay here!
So nice !”
The room was very nice , centraly located in the small city of thakhek , the best hotel I have had during this journey in south est asia. The staff is friendly , speak french. the breakfast is just a little light , but is ok !
Great value, facilities and charm. ”
Having previously stayed in one of the small downstairs rooms at Inthira, I was already a fan of this well-located, tastefully designed hotel. On my most recent visit, I booked one of the upstairs suites - oh what a delight that was! So incredible spacious, with a comfortable lounge area, a desk and a personal wrap-around balcony! Incredible value for money. And the food at the restaurant downstairs really rates a mention - a varied menu of Lao and international dishes, well priced and even better prepared. I would not stay anywhere else in Thakek.
Clean and pleasant rooms”
We have stopped at the Inthira hotel Thakhek many times before and last time we visited Thakhek the hotel was full, but we dinned in the restaurant and was very disappointed with the staffs performance on that occasion, this time we managed to get a room and the room was very nice but small. we did decided not to eat in the restaurant this time.
Gorgeous place, fantastic stay!”
It's been forever since we felt a place deserved a perfect score. But Inthira is ON POINT! The Deluxe Double room with a balacony was gorgeous. Both the restaurant downstairs and the rest of the hotel's hallways and lobbies are beatifully decorated with sophisticated style. The fact that it's a beautifully restored and updated colonial building makes it all that more enthralling. You have several choices for breakfast and the rice porridge was surprisingly good, though I would suggest they include the addition of a fruit plate to really complete the breakset set. The staff were courteous, though not quite the level of friendly that would expect from such a classy hotel. We are so glad we stayed and would highly recommend booking them through Agoda (it's less expensive than walk-in)!
A pretty boutique hotel that is a too expensive”
We have mixed feelings about the Inthira. The hotel is quite charming in a nicely restored French colonial bulding a block back from the river. The rooms are artistically designed with lots of wood and certainly different and comfortable. However, our room (and a few others) was located with the window opening onto an internal open stairwell where the noise from the restaurant and in particular the kitchen funnelled staight up and was very loud from 6am. If we had one of these rooms we would not stay here again but if we had one of the other rooms (there are only about 12 or so rooms) we would be consider staying. Also in the negative is the price; it is high for Laos with the hotel pretending it is 4 star when it is 3 at best. We had the 'Cocktail of the Month' deal but never were given the cocktails. The restaurant/coffee shop is good, the Wifi ok. Green Discovery tours has their 'office' in the hotel which is covenient but their prices are expensive. However there are no alternative companies and there is nothing to do in Thakhek itself so everyone ends up booking tours to the caves with this group. I would check out some of the riverfront hotels for deals - they have great views and may be a better value option.
